Dancing with the Stars Season 16: Cast Announcement Live Blog!!!

Woohoooooo! After weeks of few casting rumors and a hectic week of pro watching, the big day is finally here: today we find out who’s going to be dancing on season 16, and who they’ll be dancing with (I presume). I’m assuming this cast announcement is going to pretty closely mirror the season 14 cast announcement, which was also on GMA: they kill time and tantalize us with periodic clues and whatnot for the first hour or so, then they announce all of the celebs, take a commercial break, announce which pro each celeb is paired with, take another commercial break, have a brief Q&A session with the couples, and then they’re done. A lot less painless than sitting through the fauxmance and schlock of The Bachelor, if you ask moi

First, a few ground rules: please, please, PLEASE do NOT keep hitting refresh repeatedly on this page! We keep upgrading our server, but during high-traffic times (such as the cast announcement), things tend to get a bit…wonky. If you keep hitting refresh, I cannot get in the dash to update the page, and thus nobody gets any updates. Try to keep the refreshing limited to every 15 minutes, k? You can also feel free to follow @puredwts on Twitter – Heidi will be tweeting the names as they’re announced as well. Also, if you’re watching the announcement yourself (or are carefully monitoring Twitter/the interwebs) and hear the names, PLEASE – do not post them in the comments if you don’t see them posted in the body of the post (looking at YOU, Grant). Not only does this also clog up the server and prevent me from updating the post, it also irritates the hell out of me, as I am not a) Amish, b) broke, or c) living in a van down by the river, and I, like you, have television, internet, and Twitter. If you don’t see it posted, it’s because I’m still trying to get into the dash – not because I don’t see it.

UPDATE: Moving the list of couples up to the top of the page for those who don’t want to hear all my play-by-plays I went ahead and put Sean & Peta on the list, but they are by no means a sure thing…

ETA2: We’ve confirmed there is, indeed, a 12th couple…but no official source stating that it’s Sean & Peta. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t them, though.

DWTS All Stars – And the 13th Dancer Is…. (Live Blog)

It is 7:20 in the east and, as you might have guessed, nary a mention of DWTS. You might have guessed this because of the interesting confluence of the Republican National Convention and Hurricane Issac. Of course, GMA will beat the crap out of both topics, but right now the emphasis is on Issac what with the 7th anniversary of Katrina coming up on Thursday…and Issac is heading for New Orleans.

Prince Harry on Lockdown?? Come on, GMA, really??

ETA 1: Okay, so 6:30 and they just teased it and the winner and partner are both in the studio. They showed them in silouette. Hmmmm….number 13 and partner. Looks like Sabrina. But that hair could also be Lacey, although Louis is the one in NYC right now.

ETA 2 Vogue here: Please LEAVE PRINCE HARRY ALONE! I love him!

ETA 3: They show all three contestants and they dance teasing us some more. Wow Lara, step up revolution.

ETA 4: Heidi’s back!! I love Prince Harry too – let a young guy have some fun. Of course, I think he had more fun in Vegas than even Derek typically does, but geez!!

ETA 5: Geez, GMA pimping Dance with Me once again. Poor Maks, he has it so rough. :::rolls eyes:::

And the Winner is…..SABRINA BRYAN!! To the surprise of absolutely no one, and after more pimping about this than the All Star cast as a whole.

And Louis is her partner just as we said he would be. Louis disses all his previous partners, claiming that he can go all out with the choreo now. And they are saying it’s exciting because she was chosen by the public. Er…yeaah. Let’s see what happens when she’s up against the power houses of All Stars.

ETA 9: Looks like both Vogue and I are having problems accessing the After Party – I only caught about 20 seconds of video before my computer started buffering endlessly. The basic gist I got is that it’s just a recap of old Sabrina footage from season 5, and Sabrina answering questions submitted by viewers on Twitter. Maybe Vogue will be able to find and post video of it later -Court-

He talked of how he choreographs, what Melissa is like now versus when he danced with her the first time, and how stiff the competition is going to be this season. More below (let’s hope this works. Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Media After The Finals Part 2 (Includes GMA Interview)

So, after a round of interviews with the press, our Season 14 Champs, Donald and Peta joined the Jimmy Kimmel LIVE Show via satellite. Jimmy is a goof ball as always as he tries to put them on the spot.

PopTVDotCom was able to capture some of the cast going to some after parties after the show. They have good things to say on the winners and how much fun they had…

Saving the best for last, below is Donald & Peta, Mark & Katherine, and William and Cheryl on Good Morning America today after catching a red eye to New York City last night. GMA asks them some great questions, Len has a special message for Donald and it’s well deserved, William’s little boy shows some love (a total awwww moment), and the couples dance too….

ABC Releases Promo For New Dancing With The Stars Segment On Good Morning America

ABC has released a new Good Morning America promo for tomorrow. As we speculated last week, Katie Couric is doing a fun spread on Dancing With The Stars Monday!! So, be sure to tune in. Here she is with Derek dancing….

Fun Good Morning America Segment With DWTS Co-Host Brooke Burke!! (Video)

Dancing With The Stars’ co-host Brooke Burke was a guest on Good Morning America today to promote her two new fitness DVDS: “Transform Your Body with Brooke Burke – Strengthen & Condition” and “Transform Your Body with Brooke Burke – Tone & Tighten” . Cameron Mathison visits with her and decides to see if she “practices what she preaches” with her work out routines. Was he able to keep up with her? No. They also discuss the next season of Dancing With The Stars. Everyone keeps asking her on the cast, but, her and Tom don’t know anything yet. They call Tom just to make sure he’s not holding out. LOL! Brooke mentions the rumors she’s heard like Paula Deen, Pee Wee Herman, and Richard Simmons. At the end, they run into legendary actor Dick Van Dyke. They ask if he’d like to do some work out moves with Brooke and he says he’s too over the hill. Too cute and a must see!

DWTS TV Mentions: Brooke Burke On GMA, Derek Hough And Carrie Anne Inaba On LIVE! With Kelly

Just a couple of TV mentions! Don’t forget Derek Hough and Carrie Ann Inaba will be guesting and helping Kelly Ripa to co-host ‘LIVE! With Kelly’ this coming week in Hawaii. Derek just landed in Hawaii. He’s been posting some cool instagrams at his twitter account already such as this beautiful scene from his hotel below.

Also, KHON2 in Hawaii interviewed Kelly this past week leading up to the tapings. Here’s one of them below as a little teaser for what’s to come…

Cheryl Burke Talks of “Dancing Lessons” And New Season Of Dancing With The Stars (Video)

Dancing With The Stars Cheryl Burke glowed in a pastel pink dress in a new interview on Good Morning America today. She dished about her personal and inspiring book “Dancing Lessons”, but, she also made some mentions on the new upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars when asked about it from Lara Spencer. Cheryl said she hasn’t heard any rumors yet for who is dancing, but, the Dancing With The Stars cast is so excited. She says dance training begins in three weeks. She also talks of sometimes not knowing a thing about her partners until she googles them. She’s asked who she thought would be the most challenging of all of her partners and she answered with Rob Kardashian. He shocked her every week with how much he improved in attitude and dancing. Cheryl is asked on her dream partner and she gives a big plug to Victor Cruz. I have to say she and Victor would be perfect together. Do you agree? Lots more below….

ADDING: In other news on Cheryl, she’s been signed on to help promote the Skin Smooth Campaign.

DWTS Season 14 Rumors and Innuendo – And Twitter Nonsense

This post is a Heidi/Courtney/Vogue collaboration…

As many of you have noticed – the DWTS rumor mill is pretty darn slow these days. No big media outlets reporting legit casting rumors, no glaring Twitter slip-ups by potential candidates, just…vagueness & silence. Which of course makes our job here at PureDWTS a bit harder However, we do keep a pretty vigilant eye on what’s happening on Twitter, and there have been a handful of tweets that have caught our eye as possibly being something legit (and some that are obviously joking, but funny enough to mention ), so we thought we’d go ahead and share – but take these with a BIIIIIG grain of salt, kids. We’re reaching here

Heidi: First up, we have yet another NFL player that someone is claiming to be on DWTS this season – Jeremiah “The Axe Man” Trotter. I found this in my random perusal of various twitter searches. I have no idea if the person claiming he heard Jeremiah is even remotely serious or remotely connected – but Jeremiah’s non-denial is interesting, plus I remember how I didn’t blog about knowing that a Steeler was going to dance. A month before the announcement. ETA: The tweet I posted a bit ago about Vince Young, also from the Eagles, makes this one seem like the person with the info got the wrong player. Hard to say.

Next up, an tweet from Kirstie Alley to Lisa Marie yesterday that got some eyebrows raising:

Courtney: Admittedly, this is EXTRAORDINARILY vague. Kirstie could just be trying to coax Lisa Marie into participating in her “100 Days of Dance” event, or she could be just using it in the figurative sense, as in “Yay! You’re another year older! Do some sort of celebratory dance!!!” However, some interpreted it as “Get ready to hoof it on DWTS soon!” Could Lisa Marie be signed up for season 14? Who knows…but her mom did the show in season 6, and doing the show might help Lisa Marie spread the word about several charities she’s involved with. However, according to Wikipedia, she currently lives in London – so who knows. Food for thought. I think she’d be a great addition to the show – she seems to shun the spotlight, but she looks FANTASTIC for her age and seems to be in good shape.

Vogue: Here’s Lisa Marie in her “Idiot” video “shaking it”. What do you think? Would she be able to dance? Hmmm…she definitely has the beats down like her Dad though nothing “Hound Dog” unique, but, would she be able to memorize elaborate dance numbers? She may have trouble like her Mom, but, I can see her paired with Maks!

Courtney: Now we move onto actress Wendy Robinson, who tweets some things that could be exciting out-of-context…

But upon further examination, it’s obviously just wishful thinking:

Courtney: On the campaign front, it looks like the latest celeb to have fans gunning for them to do the show is actress Jackée Harry:

If memory serves, I think Jackée has been a rumor before…or maybe a campaign. IDK. Too much going on in my head Either way, she’s funny…I think she’d be kinda like Niecy. In fact, I think she’s actually friends with Niecy.

And in the category of “purely joking”, we have Darrell Sheets from the A&E series Storage Wars no doubt giving a costar a hard time:

Courtney: For those of you unfamiliar with the show, Storage Wars is a reality show where they take self-storage units that are delinquent on their rent and auction off the contents to the highest bidder as a single lot. Sometimes you get valuable antiques and priceless artifacts; sometimes you get junk. Darrell & Barry (Weiss) are two of the people who bid on these units – and the reason I find this tweet so funny is that this is Barry:

Vogue: I can’t see it. I just can’t.

Courtney: If Reuben from Ocean’s Eleven had a drunken love child with Charlie Sheen’s character from Two & A Half Men, it would be Barry Weiss (whose name makes me want a beer).

Courtney: Can we say “desperate for attention”? Sorry, but Taylor’s totally fishing here – she’s name-dropping a pro (a pro that’s too short for her, no less), acting like they’re bff (ok…I must’ve missed something…I didn’t think she & LVA even ran in the same circles), and doing it less than a month before the cast announcement when she’s already been rumored as a contestant. Whether or not she’s actually been asked remains to be seen, but judging from the constant reports I’ve been hearing that she’s flat broke and terrified that she’s not going to be asked back for season 3 of RHOBH (a legit concern, as I hear they’re already looking for some new housewives), the woman sounds desperate with a captial D – so you best believe that if she gets asked, she’s doing it. I hope Tony’s got a therapist on standby…

Vogue: Then there is Sam Champion…yes, Sam strikes again! Check out this little ‘retweet’ Sam made this morning. Why would he retweet this if he wasn’t dancing on Dancing With The Stars Season 14? This guy is going to give us serious heart palpitations with all of this TEASING!! With the added anticipation of Madonna dancing in the Super Bowl, I’m dying here. Bring it Sam or ELSE!
