Good Morning America covered Robin Roberts And Amy Robach’s road trip to go see Ginger Zee on Dancing With The Stars. You can watch it below. Thanks to @idolxfactor1 for recording.
Is there anyone who doesn’t love Good Morning America’s weather girl Ginger Zee? She’s so cute. You can read her bio at wiki. I didn’t realize her full name is “Ginger Renee Zuidgeest”. Also, she was named for “Ginger” from Gilligan’s Island by her Dutch father, due to his love of the show that helped him learn English. She’s going to be fun to watch dance on Dancing With The Stars. Also, below is a fun blast from the past when she danced with Derek Hough for GMA’s Oscar show in March 2014. For more information on her partner Val Chmerkovskiy and all the latest couples spoilers, see this post.
Since the pros were starting to meet their partners today (although we only know of three who have, right now), we figured that we would start revealing the couples as they reveal themselves…or when we find them out. 😉 You gotta know that this is a secret that will be impossible to keep – not when they are starting to rehearse!! It’s gonna get out one way or another, and we’re going to report it!
Anyway, our first confirmed couple is kind of a gimme, as we’ve reported on this woman a couple times and the evidence was pretty strong.
ETA: Couple #2 confirmed! And I gotta say – I’m pretty excited about it. Will definitely be interesting to see these two work together & grow this season… -Court-
ETA2: Didn’t see this one coming…thoughts? -Court-
ETA3: We’re guessing this is the one that is going to get announced on GMA this morning, given who it is – and I’d say it’s also a bit of an unexpected partnership, given this pro’s track record of fairly young and/or able-bodied, conveniently experienced dancers. -Court-
ETA4: Apologies to those on Twitter I may have confused last night – I myself got confused, and mixed up two different pros’ partners. I think you’ll see why when the rest of the cast breaks 😉 But yeah, this one was sort of a gimme, but it does help give us a clearer picture of the cast so far… -Court-
ETA5: Saw this name floating around Twitter as a possibility, so I figured I may as well confirm. Rather interesting (and timely) casting, no? -Court-
ETA6: DOUBLE-WHAMMY!!! So E! goes and spoils a name that came completely out of left field…guess what? So will I. 😉 -Court-
ETA7: Since everyone else is reporting on Kim/Sasha, I will go ahead and add – but let me qualify that I only know this through process of elimination, and my sources were unable to confirm with certainty that those two are paired up…hence the **. But as for the other one I’m revealing – this I’m 100% certain of. And yes – it’s another WHAMMY. 😎 You heard it here FIRST, kids! -Court-
ETA8: Got another one out of left field for you – and I actually kind of wonder if this celeb may have requested his pro. I don’t have any proof, just a hunch. -Court-
ETA9: And with this update, I’m fairly certain this is the full cast. Seen a lot (and gotten pulled into a lot) of speculation on Twitter about Ben Higgins (*eye roll*) being a “last-minute” or “surprise” add with Emma as his partner after The Bachelor wraps on Mar. 14, but honestly guys – all signs seem to be pointing to this being a 12-couple season. Ditto to the fringe R5 fans that are insisting that Rydel is going to be a “surprise announcement” and be paired with Derek – no more spots left, guys. Better luck next season…now please move on. -Court-
Pictured above is our new Dancing With The Stars judge Julianne Hough on Good Morning America today. If you head to Getty Images, you can view a bunch of high quality photos of her during and after her Good Morning America appearance. She also takes selfies with fans. So cute and I love her dress and shoes!
Good Morning America just announced the new “permanent” judge for Dancing With The Stars. Our new 4th judge will be…. JULIANNE HOUGH!
— Official DWTS (@DancingABC) August 21, 2014
For those who are new to the show and don’t know Julianne, she is a champion American professional ballroom dancer. She started competing in dance at age 9. She is also a two-time professional champion of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. She was also nominated for a Creative Arts Primetime Emmy in 2007 for Outstanding Choreography in season five of the show. What’s more, Julianne is a country music singer and music artist. She’s also an actress. She’s starred in movies like Burlesque, Rock of Ages, Footloose, and Safe Haven. Julianne just recently danced in a 48 show ‘sold out’ tour with brother Derek called “Move Live On Tour” this past summer. You can read more on Julianne’s accomplishments at this link.
CONGRATS JULIANNE!! We couldn’t be more happy to have you on board (and hopefully performing in some pro numbers too!). Go get em, Girl!
Just a TV heads up! Tomorrow (Thursday) Good Morning America will be announcing a judge for Dancing With The Stars Season 19. Could this be Julianne Hough as rumored? *keeps fingers crossed*
Thanks to @Jahfan1 for this news. She saw it during a commercial during the show today.
So, all eyes on tomorrow. WOO HOO!
ETA: Apparently, the commercial said something about ‘sexy’ and they also showed a ‘woman’ dancing behind a screen. Fascinating. Thanks to Linz for the heads up!!!
According to Producer Conrad Green via Hollywood Reporter, the “Switch Up” dance will take place halfway through the season of Dancing With The Stars. He also says the casting is getting more difficult with each season. Below is more including his thoughts on why they decided to make the changes they did. Be sure to read more at the link!
“The practical reality is that we have to keep engaging with a younger audience as well as our substantial older one,” says executive producer Conrad Green. “Obviously life would be easier for us if we were only judged on the sheer scale of our audience.”
The play for younger viewers, which saw veteran co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet and longtime bandleader Harold Wheeler axed, hasn’t been without strife. The American Federation of Musicians president Ray Hair blasted the decision by ABC and producer BBC Worldwide to drop Wheeler and his 28-member orchestra, describing it as “artistic fraud.” The new, smaller band led by Ray Chew will be more focused on current hits — prerecording the more produced elements in lieu of using costly master tracks. “This was a creative decision to increase the amount of live music on the show,” says Green, who maintains Dancing still will emphasize the band. “The way the union responded on this, without ever talking to us, was pretty poor.”
Green admits each season becomes more difficult to cast (Winter Olympians Charlie White and Meryl Davis, reality star NeNe Leakes and NHL alum Sean Avery headline season 18). He says new interactive elements are the real draw. Voters will have final say in eliminations, and pairings briefly will be switched halfway. Also, fan favorite Maksim Chmerkovskiy will return after quitting in 2012. Says Green: “Our viewers want to see him competing again.”
ETA: According to some new cast interviews with E Online, the Switch Up dance will take place in week 3!! Thanks to Kaitlyn for letting us know. More HERE!!
EAT2: You can read more of what the pros think of the Switch up dance at Today. Below is a take…
“I don’t know how it’s going to be,” Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who’s returning to the show after a two-season break from the competition, told TODAY. “They’ve tried explaining it to us four times. There was a lot of confusion. It’ll be a little awkward if I get paired up with someone who loves me, but (my partner) Meryl (Davis, the Olympic ice skating champ) wants to stay with me, too.”
“Normally, I don’t mind change,” said Tony Dovolani, who’s paired with “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes. “But changing partners is raising my eyebrows. I don’t like sharing my women! I grow them into the partners that I want them to be, and … halfway through the season there will be a switcheroo? You can feel cheated.”
Changing partners can also potentially affect the progress that stars make under their assigned pro.
“You build a relationship with your partner,” offered Sharna Burgess, who’s paired with Davis’ Olympic partner, Charlie White. “You develop your own language, and you learn how to work with each other. The odds of someone moving to another person with (equal success) are unlikely.”
Below is a new ABC Dancing With The Stars promo from the official site. It makes one even more curious for how they will do the “Switch” partners thing? 😯
ETA: As said in the Press Interview post, pay special attention to Sharna and what she says on the “Switch” dance in the On The Red Carpet interview which we added below. I was trying to keep an open mind. Not sure I like this now?
The press interviews after Good Morning America are starting to come out. Below are a few of them from Access Hollywood. Keep checking back. We’ll post more as they come out….
ETA Special Note: Scroll below to hear Sharna Burgess explain the Switch dance and let us know what you think!
ETA: Here is one with Derek. Derek also talks of switching partners at the end of his interview for how it might take place. Fascinating. Be sure to see Pure Derek Hough for more coverage with him and Amy!! Read more..
