DWTS14 Cast – Hunches & Suspicions about Sherri Shepherd & Sam Champion

This is a post that Vogue & I decided to write after making some interesting observations on Twitter & TV Keep in mind that no other news outlet has reported on these two as “casting rumors” this season, and that this is just Vogue and I postulating based on our observations and some gut feelings. Since the casting rumors so far have been kinda sparse, we figured we’d go ahead and share. But read this with a grain of salt, if you will

First up, we have Sherri Shepherd – and with that, I’m going to turn it over to Vogue:

Vogue: Thanks Courtney! Well, on the day Dance With Me Studios was filming for the Christmas and New Years Nancy Grace shows, @PulseCreativeNY at twitter was posting pictures promoting what was going down. She posted twitter photos of Maks, Val, Carson, Tristan, and Nancy to name just a few. In the mix and to my surprise, she also posted a picture of SHERRI SHEPHERD. At first I didn’t think anything of it, but, then I got to thinking of the recent rumors about Sherri dancing on Dancing With The Stars and for several seasons now. Sherri has expressed great interest, but, the timing was always wrong at the time. I quickly pmed Heidi about it to see if she was at twitter to see what she thought….especially being Sherri was clothed in work out clothes very similar to what Nancy Grace always wore for rehearsing. Sherri was also pictured with VAL! Now maybe this is something and maybe not since, as you know, Dance With Me Studios is where they teach people how to dance? The interesting part is, no sooner had @PulsecreativeNY posted that picture, she quickly took it down (kicks self for not taking screen shot in time). Now, my suspicions grew even more. lol Another interesting note is that Sherri currently follows Tony, Cheryl, Val, and Kirstie Alley….but, not Maks (atleast not since the last time I checked). She’s talked a lot at twitter about dieting and getting into shape…why? It’s like she’s preparing for something…is it…could it be….Dancing With The Stars? In covering all of our bases, we thought we better mention it.

Heidi adds: Highly suspicious indeed and, as you might imagine, I asked Vogue what she would do next time she saw something “interesting” on twitter. SCREENSHOT. Immediately. Before doing anything else. In regard to Sherri herself – I vote NO. Nothing against Sherri, but if she’s already been spending time over at Dance with Me and is taking lessons?? Ha! And you though Derek has had advantages!! CheaterCheaterCheater (sung in 12 year old voice)!! Who was the last contestant who took ballroom before DWTS?? Donny Osmond is the only one I know of. Didn’t think it was fair then, don’t think it would be fair now. Of course, maybe Sherri just wants to get in shape without going on the show (what fun would that be?) and is doing it at Dance With Me. Who knows?? Well, we will in 30 days or so.

Now we move on to a guy who has only come to my attention as a possible contestant in the past few hours: Sam Champion. For those of you who don’t know, Sam is the weather guy on Good Morning America, and is a HUGE fan of DWTS. He usually live tweets Monday night’s performance shows, and even had a Monday night “Tweet-off” with Chris Cuomo (a former fellow GMA anchor who’s now with 20/20) last year – DWTS vs. Monday Night Football. In short – the guy obviously loves DWTS Anyway! It was announced on GMA this morning that the cast would be announced on GMA the morning of Feb. 28…and who was the most excited out of all the anchors? Sam. Who was off-camera, but made a point of jumping in the shot when Robin made the announcement? Sam. Who was disappointed when Robin said he’d have to wait until Feb. 28 to hear the cast? Sam. Who acted extra coy & fiddly during the whole segment? Sam. If you haven’t yet, go watch the video Vogue posted – Sam acts unusually squirrely, and seems extremely excited to announce the cast. Perhaps because he’s part of it…? You also have to take into account that the cast announcements for the past 4 seasons of DWTS have all occured during The Bachelor or The Bachelorette – big primetime ratings draws. Far bigger than the audience they’re likely to get from announcing the cast in a morning slot…so what would entice TPTB to change the timing, you ask? Perhaps the fact that one of the GMA anchors is going to be one of this season’s celebs? If you think about it, the reason they switched to announcing the cast during the The Bachelor in season 10 was because Jake, that season’s Bachelor, was going to be a part of it. What’s to say they wouldn’t do the same this time around? To add to my growing suspicions, I was exchanging emails with my lovely mother this morning, and the minute I mentioned we thought someone from GMA was going to be part of the cast (all the anchors were acting kinda odd), her immediate response was “It’s Sam Champion, isn’t it?” Apparently Robin made a comment on the air recently about Sam being a good dancer – a comment that seemed a bit unusual, given the context. Perhaps a bit of a hint from Robin? Draw your own conclusions, but Sam’s behavior this morning practically screamed “I’ve got a secret…I’m going to be on DWTS!!!!” to me

Heidi: As you know, I have to add my two cents to this whole thing, too. My response to Courtney this morning was “well, it’s either Sam or Robin” – based mainly on the fact that Robin is also a fan to the point that she’s had Maks teach her a few moves. I say no to Robin (but not as much of a no as I do to Sherri and I won’t be mad if she’s on) and YES YES YES to Sam. I would love to see him on the show. Everyone on that show is a giant though, with Sam being about 6’3″ or so. But they’ve had taller. I think Sam is a ray of sunshine and he could fill the Ken doll slot if Derek isn’t around.

TV Appearances For Dancing With The Stars Carrie Ann Inaba And Louis Van Amstel

Just a heads up on some TV appearances coming up!! On Tuesday, January 17th, Dancing with the Stars pro Louis Van Amstel will guest on ABC’s Good Morning America to promote his new fitness DVD.

Also coming up, Dancing With The Stars Judge Carrie Ann Inaba will be helping to co-host ABC’s “Live! With Kelly” on January 27th as part of “Women Co-host Week”. You can read more on this special week at ABC Media.

Be sure to tune into both appearances because I’m betting both will be asked and talk about Dancing With The Stars and you never know on what kind of hints they may give for the new season. Then again, maybe not?

DWTS Carson Kressley’s Crazy Christmas Wonderland

If you need a ‘Carson Kressley fill’ (like I do, lol) and some Christmas decorating tips, then this Good Morning America segment might just do the trick?

Carson gives some more Christmas decorating tips here as well. He’s too funny, but, he’s got some great ideas even for someone with a low budget.

DWTS Tristan MacManus On Nancy Grace: She’s a dancer now and plans to treat her that way! (Video)

Need a little MacGrace for your TGIF? Below are the two on Good Morning America today. They review the “evidence” of Nancy’s wardrobe malfunction and her denying it on Access Hollywood. That’s her story and she’s sticking to it (LOL!). Tristan talks of his delight of getting an “8″ and hopes it’s the first of many. They are working long hours and having fun. The whole experience is like nothing Nancy ever expected. She’s so thankful for Tristan, but, she talks of the “grunt” level going up in their practices. Tristan comments that “she’s a dancer now and plans to treat her that way”. Fun interview as always with these two!

Be sure to watch Nancy’s show tonight. Both Tristan and Val are suppose to be a couple of her guests.

DWTS Chaz Bono’s Publicist Talks “Hope Versus Hate” And More on Good Morning America

Chaz Bono’s publicist spoke to Good Morning America this morning on the controversy and the transgender debate surrounding Chaz and the show currently. They expected some controversy, but, not on this level. Chaz has taken it well though and has used it to “motivate” himself even further. He’s committed. He’s working really hard and having a great time. No way is he going to back down to the critics and it’s only re-enforced his decision to dance. OneMillionMoms.com is brought up for what they’ve quoted. Chaz publicist considers them to be a “hate” group versus promoting family values (HUGE KUDOS to Chaz’s publicist!). Be sure to watch this as you can see Chaz and Lacey also dressed up for what I think is their Title shoot as well? Excellent video. Dancing With The Stars 12 – Maksim Chmerkovskiy: The “Juju is Gone” and More

Maks has a new blog up at TV Guide. Reading over his blog, I’ve never seen him happier. He writes about all the fun he had this past week with Kirstie and the “Sex on a stick” monologue. He gives credit to the “Dance Doctor” coming to help that (wouldn’t it be funny if John Travolta made little special surprise appearances like that again in the future to give advice?). Then Maks talks of this week’s up coming dance (the Samba) and a little about he and Kirstie’s visit to New York. More below and at TV Guide.

I thought our foxtrot was great. Val said, “I know you have ‘American Woman,’ but I cannot hear it as a foxtrot.” And it was the same for me. It’s not a traditional foxtrot at all. I was waiting to see what we’re going to come up with. I like that Kirstie trusts me. I don’t know how much now after the sex stick speech! My only worry was that this may be the only time she’ll ever get to do the foxtrot and it wasn’t a traditional one. But she didn’t mind. I also like that it was very different from everything else that night. It wasn’t a “Yankee Doodle Dandy” performance. We represented the Rock ‘N’ Roll side of America. My post-mortem on it though is that we danced to a song originally by a Canadian artist that was telling an American woman to get away. The irony! But I think most people understood that we were channeling the Lenny Kravitz version.

Oh, and how could I forget! No mishaps this week. I think it was the dance doctor’s doing. The juju is gone, so we won’t have to lock ourselves in a closet for a year!

Next week, we have the samba. It’s guilty pleasures week. We didn’t choose the song, so it has nothing to do with Kirstie’s guilty pleasure, so there will be no portrayal or acting out of the song. We are in New York this week and are trying to split time between rehearsals and hanging out. It feels great to be home! Everyone was saying how crappy the weather here has been the past few weeks, but our first day here, it was nothing but sunshine, so I guess we brought the sunshine!

DWTS – ‘Naked Mom’ Brooke Burke’s Book Promotion: Good Morning America & Ryan Seacrest

Brooke has been out and about promoting her new book, “Naked Mom“. This morning she was on Good Morning America. She discussed her book some of which includes her experiences with “Dancing With The Stars”. There is a spot in the interview where she talks about Florence Henderson and what she learned from her last Season. She also talks on Derek and what they went through to win the Mirror Ball Trophy and counseling was one thing. More below.

Teresa: Which DWTS judge would you like to see naked? And which judge would most appreciate a great read?

Brooke: Bruno, because regardless, he’ll make you laugh; he’ll perform for you and he’s full of personality to keep you interested! Len would not only appreciate a great read, but I think he’d make a great read. I’d love to hear Len’s story.

Teresa: You sell post-pregnancy belly wraps. Are those made with lavash or tortilla? I’m hungry!

Brooke: Trust me, you wouldn’t want to eat your way to the middle! Remember how yucky you felt right after birth, all that extra baggy baby skin! Don’t we give enough as mothers–why do they take our bods too! Tauts is a compression garment that helps your tummy get back in shape fast!

Teresa: If I had won the coveted Dancing With the Stars mirror ball trophy and I looked like you, I would stare at the trophy and thus myself all day. Where do you keep that thing?

Brooke: No, you wouldn’t! It’s too painful to remember all the pulled and torn muscles…I keep it in my closet; not hiding, on my vanity. It used to rotate through my girls’ rooms. Everyone who visits wants a pic with it, not ME!

Not sure what to make about her trophy comment? Could you put a Mirror Ball trophy in the closet? Loved her comments about Len and Bruno though. lol
Heidi’s Comment: Dude, please. When Brooke Burke talks about her closet she is likely talking about a room twice as large as my bedroom in my condo. It’s not like it’s hidden on a shelf somewhere.
