Dancing With The Stars Rehearsals With Mandy Moore, Makes One Wonder

Choreographer Mandy Moore and Dancing With The Stars Mark Ballas posted some interesting instagrams over the weekend. The first instagram below from Mandy had this quote: “…makin moves…this season is gonna be awesome”. Hmmm, are these some of celebs with their pros? Or pros with pros (as Nobleze posted in comments)?

The second instagram from Mark below said: “Rehearsals and stuff.. @nopenother @derekhough @iamvalc @henrybyalikov #dwts @dancingabc”. Does this mean Henry Byalikov is one of this season’s troupe members? And who is the darker haired guy and lady? Could they be new troupe members? Or maybe they are helping Mandy? They could be producers too like Heidi just pointed out to me.

Sure makes one wonder, doesn’t it?

ETA: Mandy just posted a new instagram saying: “lucky lady to dance with these kats”…

Hollywood Bowl Performance With Gladys Knight And her DWTS Pros, You Should Be Dancin’

You might remember our previous posting for how Dancing With The Stars pros Tristan MacManus, Sasha Farber, Henry Byalikov, and Artem Chigvintsev were going to perform with Gladys Knight at the Hollywood Bowl last weekend. Thanks to Cal Vid, you can watch them dancing below. This video is a little blurry at first, but, it gets better as you watch. Go Gladys! What a special night for them all!

DWTS Season 19 – GMA Pro Watch!! (Live Blog)

Hi all!! Decided to start a new post because the other one was getting cluttered and would be hard to read for anyone coming back for the first time in a while. Click to read the old post.

I was watching GMA at the beginning and they teased nothing – which means I have to wait until they go to the first commercial. Boo.

ETA: Vogue here! GMA just said the announcement was soon coming. Will Derek Hough be back, they ask? We will soon find out!!

ETA: I’m back! They just teased it again, not mentioning any single pro, but showing Cheryl and Drew.

ETA: They just showed their play room with all the screens with big question marks and asked “Maks? Derek? Who will be back and what will their role be??”

ETA4: Okay, there are four pros in studio. I’m guessing Cheryl and Mark. Not sure of the other two. And then they show a child photo of Karina – I take it as she’s IN. They showed Maks/Meryl, Derek’s Ameska Macy’s and Cheryl/Drew – clues.

ETA5: Latest tease shows Derek and Jennie Garth and says 8:22 is the time for the reveal. Ask again about Derek and Maks’ role. Asked if they would be going “head to head”. Um, yeah, Derek is super competitive. :::rolls eyes:::

ETA6: Cheryl is in Studio and competing. Tony is in studio. Karina also in studio, along with Val. Switch up is back. Results show the first two weeks. Len gone for part of season. There will be some “guest judges”. COMMERCIAL/Local News Break.

ETA7: Next…Mark Ballas. See below for the rest. Can’t say I’m happy Derek is back. No vacay for Heidi. 🙂  I was typing as I went and just realized no Sharna. Kinda devastated about that.  Also, no Gleb in the pro lineup despite his wife’s tweet. He must be back in the troupe.

The starting positions below are based on the individual pro’s status last season. Troupe is still unknown. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing With The Stars Pros Become Gladys Knight’s Pips At The Hollywood Bowl

Music legend and much loved Dancing With The Stars contestant, Gladys Knight, is performing at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend. Not only that, and watch out, Dancing With The Stars pros Tristan MacManus, Sasha Farber, Henry Byalikov, and Artem Chigvintsev are performing with her too. Below is some coverage from George Pennacchio and ABC7. Great interview and isn’t fun to see them all again?

ETA: The Examiner has an article posted on the show. Below is take about she and the pros they danced. Be sure to see the link for more. LOL to “it was on my bucket list”.

Gladys Knight proved why she is at legendary status in her 75 minute set. The seven-time GRAMMY Award winner has earned number one hits in Pop, R&B and Adult Contemporary, and has also had a career in film, television. Knight showed why she is still in the business after all of these decades and her voice still incredible.

Knight kicked off her set opening the show sitting at the piano and performing “Hard To Say I’m Sorry”. She told the crowd “this is something you never seen me do”. She stated that she wanted to take piano lessons as a child but with there being four kids, her mom could not afford it so her sister Brenda got the piano lessons and she got to sing. She said it was on her “bucket list’ as she played the piano during the show. She then went on to perform “You Should Be Dancing” by The Bee Gees. Back up dancers come on stage to dance and it is Sasha Farber, Henry Byalikov and Artem Chigvintsev from “Dancing With The Stars”. Then comes Tristan MacManus who was Knight’s dancing partner when she competed on the hit television show to lead her into a dance routine. She joked afterwards saying “it was on my bucket list”.

Mary Murphy was at the show last night. She posted some fun shots. @JDSwartz posted some instagrams too…

And isn’t his a great shot?!

Diana Nyad Writes About Her Journey On Dancing With The Stars

Diana Nyad wrote about her complete journey on Dancing With The Stars. She had such an amazing time and loved the cast so much, that she had withdrawals after being eliminated. Here is more from the Huffington Post….

I found each and every pro and celebrity warm and caring and embracing of the moment, as were Henry and I. Most of us would practice at the same location. We’d help each other with both the emotional stuff going on and with our actual routines. Sean Avery said to me one day: “I suck at this!” Sean’s an athlete, both intense and demanding of himself. And I said to him: “OK, let’s say you do suck. So why don’t you go out there and suck double time?” And Sean had similar advice for me. He appeared sullen to some. I really liked him.

Derek Hough showed me a great deal of respect. He took the time to watch The Other Shore documentary and welled up with tears in telling me how much the story moved him. I have read several tweets saying too bad I’m not still on the show because, after Derek constantly having talented partners, it would be some kind of poetic justice to wind up with me on the switch week — finally a true challenge for him. Sorry to disappoint, Derek.

Who can doubt that Meryl Davis is arguably the most talented dancer ever to perform on the show? She is simply dazzling. She and Maks make their complex routines appear effortless. I am in awe. Whenever one of the stars can allow their pro partner to show off, then you’ve got magic working on the floor. As a matter of fact, as an unabashed fan, I can safely declare this to be the highest level of talent among the stars in the history of the show. Along with Meryl, James is smooth as butter. Charlie is light as air, so very debonaire. Danica executes such a high technical and artistic level every time she steps on the floor. Candace has body control and expression in spades. And Amy Purdy is nothing short of miraculous.

Henry and I pretty much knew the depth of the field our very first morning together, for the first Good Morning America announcement of the cast. We were in the make-up trailer at 1:30am. Charlie and pro Tony Dovolani were kidding around doing some triple spins on the toes of their sneakers, landing with a sharp staccato pose for cameras at the end of the spins. Henry and I needed no words. Then, Meryl came over to take a piece of fruit from the buffet table. She just can’t help her grace. She lightly spun, lifted a pointed toe toward the ceiling as she took a slice of cantaloupe. Again, no need for words between me and Henry. Just then, in humorous relief, Billy Dee struggled by with a cane. Surely, we thought, there’s one we can beat. But we were soon to learn none of that mattered. All we could do is live our time together, Henry and I, in fierce and utter conviction. And so we did.

I loved what she said about Derek! More at the Huffington Post. Thanks to Lara for sending.

Carrie Ann Inaba Writes Of What Makes DWTS So Incredible, Switch Up Couples Find Out Partners Today

Carrie Ann Inaba writes all about Dancing With The Stars last night at Parade.com. Below she talks of judging and also reminds us of what makes Dancing With The Stars so incredible in a “Dancing Democracy” way. She also mentions how the couples find out today who their new partners are going to be for the upcoming week! More below….

So, let’s get to the dances! Wow! I was truly impressed with the dances last night. Normally, the “most memorable year” night of dancing is the most challenging to judge. When a star has just shared an intimate detail of their life, a vulnerable time, or a challenging time, and then they dance poorly, it’s truly heart-wrenching as a judge to have to give them a bad score. This is often the time of the season where the fans of the stars will get extremely protective over their “favorites.” It’s completely understandable and beautiful, but this is when it can get very negative on social media because the fans will misunderstand the judgement of the dance for the judgement of the person. Now, we don’t judge the person; we judge the dancing and the performance. And most of the time, we care just as much as everyone else about these special, talented people who have courageously taken on this challenge to be on Dancing with the Stars. But if we don’t judge them with a critical and professional eye, there’s no point to the competition. And I’d like to remind everyone that what makes DWTS so incredible is that it is a combination of scoring and the audience and viewer votes that decides the fates of our celebs. It’s a democracy! It’s a Dancing Democracy. So vote. Oh, speaking of voting. Today is the day they tell the couples who their new partner is going to be for the upcoming week! Talk about a “SWITCH UP.” After last night’s incredible performances I almost don’t want to see them switch, but at the same time, how very interesting and what an amazing experiment it is to do this. It will be quite the psychological thriller if you ask me. I won’t know until Monday as well…and I’m chomping at the bit.

For a personal review of each couple, see Parade.com.

Thanks to the Vocal Vault and their quickness too, below is some Good Morning America coverage of Dancing With The Stars. They spotlight Robin Roberts and how well she did judging the show. Billy Dee Williams and Emma Slater are interviewed too. He talks all about why he had to bow out of the show. I don’t blame him. What a class act….both of them!!
