DWTS13 Week 8 – The Cheesecake Awards!!

We’re back and sassy this week, kids – and you might not read any further if you’re a fan of Kardashians, extraneous props, elves, or artificial hair extensions…;-)

Most Ironic Choice of Wardrobe: Brooke Burke’s “brain” dress

Courtney: I know I can’t be the only one that took one look at Brooke’s dress and chuckled, for it kinda resembled a brain.  Oh Brooke – if only you had one 😛 Guess wearing something that looks like one is the next best thing…

Heidi: She should have worn that Halloween week – bwainzzzz. A little zombie make up and you have the perfect (and appropriate) costume!!

Best Indicator That “Maks Wuz Heeeere”: Covering up Karina’s picture on the wall in the rehearsal studio

Courtney: Ok, perhaps it’s another odd little thing that I honed in on, but there was a random picture that looked to be out of a kids’ coloring book that was totally obscuring Karina’s face in the picture of her & Ralph’s quickstep that hung on the wall of the rehearsal studio…while Hope & Maks were there.  I can only assume this was intentional, as that seems to be a rather odd place to put a coloring book picture, considering all of the empty wall space elsewhere in the studio.  Yeeeep…we get it, loud & clear.  Still mad at Karina.  What’s next, carving her phone number into a men’s room stall door? Teepeeing her house? Making her a pan of brownies with Ex-Lax in them?

Heidi: If you ever needed proof that he is a 12 year old in an adult body, this is it. Combined with his inability to let anything go…like, for example, exclaiming that he thought Hope deserved 9’s a long time ago. Twelve year olds really shouldn’t do crack, Maks, their brains won’t mature and you’ll end up wearing a brain dress like Brooke.  If you don’t have it, wear it. Read more..

Mark Ballas’ New Pepsi Commercial, New Blog, And Possible Partner For DWTS Season 14

Mark Ballas' photo Yes.. I'm that guy at the pool with a piña colada ha ha
Mark Ballas on WhoSay

Lots is happening in Mark Ballas’ world! Not only will he be dancing in the finals on Dancing With The Stars soon with his former partner Kristin Cavallari, he is currently in Miami. He’s been posting some cool pics at his Facebook like the one above where he’s chillin’ at his hotel by the pool with a Pina Colada.

Also, even though Mark is in Miami, he still has his eye on the Dancing With The Stars Semi-Finals. In a new blog on USA Today, Mark writes how this up coming week “will be the most competitive week we’ve seen all season.” Here is a bit more of what he wrote on each of the remaining couples…

Even though I consider J.R. the favorite, he’s got some stiff competition right behind him. Should he make the slightest mistake, it could cost him the mirror ball trophy. Ricki (Lake) and Derek (Hough) will be the first couple to give J.R. and Karina a run for their money. Derek knows how to compete and he will do whatever it takes to get that mirror ball trophy, he has three already! Derek is a genius when it comes to choreographing the routines each week so you can count on their performance to be very entertaining.

Rob (Kardashian) has been surprising everyone all year and this week will be no different. He has a very determined mindset and that’s what will help him stay focused in practice. When you are putting in 6 to 8 hours of rehearsal time everyday you need to have a good mindset. It’s a mental game at this point because as you already know each couple has the technique since they have made it this far in the game. Now it’s time to put all else aside and concentrate on the routines. Rob definitely has his head on straight and I’d like to see him score a 10 this week.

Hope (Solo) is peaking at just the right time. She is starting to let loose and have fun on the dance floor. I know Maks (Chmerkovskiy) and his partners often butt heads in the beginning but they always come around to form a formidable duo. This time is no different, and I expect Hope to have a good week in rehearsals. In my opinion, Hope and Rob will battle it out for the third spot in the finals.

In other things on Mark, does he have an eye on next Season’s new partner already? Not sure, but, @TristanMacManusFans at twitter noticed Mark recently added Olympic star Nastia Liukin to his followers list. If you remember, Nastia has been a rumored contender for several seasons. Will Dancing With The Stars Season 14 finally be her time to dance?

Makes one go “hmmmm…”, doesn’t it? Height wise, they’d be a perfect couple, but, would dancing on Dancing With The Stars next season conflict with her plans to be in the Summer Olympics next summer if she makes it? We’ll have to keep an eye on this possible pairing again.

Dancing With The Stars 13 Details And Performers For Week 9!

There is a lot planned for two nights of great TV for Dancing With The Stars next week!!! Read all about it below including how they plan to “rank” the Cha Cha Relay and who will be performing!! From ABC Media Net….

“Episode 1309 & 1309A” — The semi-finals have arrived and the competition is nothing short of intense as the four remaining couples charm audiences with three routines. Their first performance is an Argentine Tango, their second dance is either a Paso Doble or Samba — one of which is a style dance they have not yet performed — and their third dance will be the Cha Cha relay, in which all couples will dance to the same song. Their Cha Cha will not be scored, but it will be ranked by the judges: The couple who takes first place in the ranking will receive 10 points, the second-place couple will get 8 points, the third-place couple will get 6 points and the fourth-place couple will take 4 points. Monday night’s show also includes a fierce Pro Argentine Tango performance choreographed by world renowned Argentine Tango master dancers and choreographers Sandor and Parissa. Pro dancers Tony Dovolani, Kym Johnson, Kiki Nyemcheck, Sasha Faber and Oksana Dmytrenko will accompany Sandor and Parissa in this piece, live on “Dancing with the Stars,” MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14 ( 8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

On TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET), during the second night of the semi-finals on “Dancing with the Stars the Results Show,” the ninth couple will be sent home after an evening of exceptional performances by cast members from Disney’s “The Muppets” and musical guests Cobra Starship featuring Sabi.

In the final “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance this season, two yet to be named “DWTS” pros will perform a thrilling Paso Doble to “Bad Romance.” All season long, fans have voted on the performance song, style, costumes and pro dancers for the season’s Macy’s Design-a-Dance.
During Tuesday night’s show, the cast of Disney’s “The Muppets” take over the ballroom with dazzling appearances throughout the show. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and a new member of The Muppet family, Walter, hit the stage, joined by the rest of the Muppet gang, including Fozzie Bear, Animal, Gonzo the Great, Pepe the King Prawn, Swedish Chef, Rowlf the Dog, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, for an unforgettable performance to “Life’s a Happy Song.” The dance number is choreographed by Michael Rooney. “Life’s a Happy Song” is from Disney’s film “The Muppets,” starring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great, Animal, Jason Segal, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones and Walter James Bobin. “The Muppets,” directed by James Bobin, featuring signature celebrity cameos and a handful of original songs, hits theaters November 23rd.

Also on Tuesday’s results show, we have a truly kinetic and captivating performance from Cobra Starship featuring Sabi, performing their explosive hit single, “You Make Me Feel,” accompanied by pro dancers Kym Johnson, Tristan MacManus, Sharna Burgess and Sonny Pederson. Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group Cobra Starship are currently celebrating the blockbuster success of their hit single, “You Make Me Feel…(Feat. Sabi),” from the group’s latest album, “Night Shades.” The band’s certified platinum single is currently a top five favorite at CHR/Top 40 radio outlets nationwide. The band recently accompanied Justin Bieber on his successful South American Tour and will next hit the stage for a series of radio-sponsored holiday concerts.

The final “AT&T Spotlight Performance” of the season highlights four talented boys, Kyle Scanlan, David Guzman, Jacob Guzman and Matt Gilmore from The Gold School in Brockton, Massachusetts. Their inspiring performance will be accompanied by female pro dancers Chelsie Hightower, Lacey Schwimmer, Sharna Burgess and Peta Murgatroyd. As one of the best dance schools in the country, The Gold School is known for producing amazing dancers. These four particular teen boys are members of the school’s Project Moves campaign, which helps raise awareness to the bullying epidemic that continues to plague schools across the country. Growing up as male dancers, the boys have been targets of bullying themselves. However, with their common love of dance, the talented young dancers have learned how to triumph over adversity. Kyle, David, Jacob and Matt are assets to their community, incredible dancers and proof that there is nothing wrong with following your dreams.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Attends “Share The Joy” Campaign, Writes On DWTS Feuds, Hope Solo, & More

Yesterday, Maks helped raise awareness for Cost Plus World Market’s Share the Joy Campaign at the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. He signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans who donated toys and books. Maks also spoke about how important it is to support good causes. You can view more pictures like the takes seen above at Wire Image.

Then last night, PopTVDotcom caught up with Maks, Val, Tony, and Derek out clubbing. They were able to interview them for about 10 minutes (the interview starts at the 11:13 minute mark). Derek is pretty quiet, but, Maks talks about he and Hope’s Argentine Tango coming up and how Tony is helping (I think he’s just joking as they are through out the interview? I’m not sure). They also talk about their future plans to do Dancing With The Stars (“they love their show” is all they will say), and what they plan to do in the new year. It’s fun when the paparazzi start out the interview saying, “if you ain’t movin’, you ain’t groovin’!” Special thanks to Pure DWTS reader Evaine for sending this video to us!!!

Today, Maks wrote a new blog for TV Guide. He wrote a little on the drama with Len and how they’ve moved on. He also addresses the “war” rumors with Derek and his new dances with Hope. Much more below and at the link.

Right now, I’m only focused on Hope and trying to come up with great routines for her. I don’t want to think about anything else. The more I notice outside elements, the more I become engulfed in the drama. The show wanted to bring up the Len situation again this week, but I’m not going to waste my energy getting involved with that. It was a misunderstanding and it’s over. We’ve moved on. My next two weeks are dedicated to Hope. I’m going back to my roots and doing what I do best: teaching others.

On that note, I also want to put an end to this stupid rumor that Derek and I are in a “war.” First, it was that I “dissed” him and now there’s a war? There is no war! Derek is a great and very talented guy; and to suggest that we’re in a feud is hilarious. On top of that, the tabloid was quoting a “source.” Until magazines start to actually quote the people they’re writing about or at the very least reach out for a comment, don’t believe what you read. Look, I understand this is how they sell issues and get everyone to click on links and stuff, but this type of rumor-fueling reporting is irresponsible to the people in the articles, their readers and themselves. I don’t even want to remotely think about this anymore, so this will be the last comment about it.

We’re in a very interesting position now with three dances. We have the Argentine tango, the paso doble and then a cha-cha relay. We have done the paso and the cha-cha, so that helps a little bit. But honestly, they might as well be brand new dances. It’s a shock to not just the celebrities, but the pros too. At this stage of the game, we’re all exhausted. This is when our bodies start shutting down and we get sick, so to have three dances, it’s very, very tough. I know they want more content because they want a longer broadcast, but this is the last thing any of us needs. You would have a better show if it was shorter with few dances. It’s about quality, not quantity, right? I think they have three dances because they want to showcase the skills everyone’s accumulated during the season. But when you throw in more dances, you don’t have the opportunity to show off better dancing. It becomes more about surviving instead. The celebrities have never done anything like this before and it’s a huge ask on their minds and bodies. But I’m not the one calling the shots here.

Cheryl Burke And Derek Hough Planning To Return To Dancing With The Stars

What a great article from the Hollywood Reporter today!! If you haven’t read it yet, be sure you do. Derek and Cheryl dish on their careers other than dancing, the controversy with Maks this Season, and whether they will be returning to Dancing With This Stars next Season and in future Seasons. It sounds to me like this show is in their blood and they very much want to keep doing it. Thank goodness because I want to see them dancing on this show as long as possible.

“I’m so used to having my celebrity by my side,” Burke tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Every season I’ve done interviews with my celeb, and this time they only wanted me. It’s kind of crazy to be able to do that, but it gave me a lot of self confidence. It made me grow up a little bit.”

Hough says he’s grown up in a more literal way, saying that most people on set have remarked he’s been more focused since returning from his one-season break. He also recognizes that this gig might be more his speed.

“It was tough,” he says of filming the movie. “It was 17-hour days. I’m used to a fast-paced, live show. Movies are slow and really drawn out.”

Given his sister Julianne’s success since leaving the show — the former pro’s accomplishments include releasing a country album and starring in the Footloose remake — many suspected Hough was quietly bowing out of the series after winning with Jennifer Grey, his third victory in 7 seasons. But he came back to a warm reception with current partner Ricki Lake, and doesn’t seem to think it will be his last turn in the ballroom.

“Probably,” Hough says when asked if he’ll come back next season. “It was nice to take the break, to just kind of reset, take a breath and do something different. I would love to pursue other things, Broadway and whatnot, but it’s hard to find the timing between seasons to things like that.”
That might depend on if he and Ricki can manage to overcome the decided frontrunner, J.R. Martinez. Burke has a much different outlook on making it to the finale.

“I kind of feel like J.R. and Ricki are already in the finale,” she says, less surprised of Rob Kardashian’s endurance the closer they get to the end of the season. “It’s fighting for that third place with Hope [Solo].”

Burke, who plans to return for Season 14, says her extracurriculars are more focused on branding efforts, like a shoe collection with HSN and a clothing line she teases will be announced very soon.

DWTS13 Tom Bergeron Comments On The Couples Chances Going Into The Quarter Finals

Tom Bergeron went to Boston so he could host his hometown’s “Rogerson Communities Welcome Home fundraiser” last night. Channel 4 was there to interview him on the event where he talked a little on Dancing With The Stars Season 13. It’s been “wild” and controversial, but, at the moment, “all is well in the ballroom.” Tom also gives his thoughts on the ratings and the contestants going into the quarter finals. He said, “any of them has a solid 25 percent chance now”. He’s been the most surprised by Rob like so many of us.

“Any one of them has a solid 25 percent chance now,” said Bergeron, who declined to divulge his favorite.

“Hope and Maks had a very strong week,” he said, “and of course JR and Ricki have been delivering really solid performances all along. But the one who has really surprised me is Rob Kardashian. He gets better and better, more confident and more poised week in and week out. I said to him the other night, ‘You’ve had the best week of any Kardashian.’ ”

As for the future of “DWTS,” the ratings have slipped a bit this year, but the show still dominates on hotly contested Monday night.

“When I first started I thought that, at best, it would be a good summer series,” Bergeron said. “I don’t think, if any of us is being completely honest, we ever thought it would do as well as it’s done.”
