Awww, my fave dance and song wish performed yet again by Karina Smirnoff and Jacoby Jones …and this time on LIVE With Kellie And Michael today! *sigh!! They were interviewed as well. Which do you think was harder for Jacoby: playing the 49er’s or dancing the finale on Dancing With The Stars? I won’t ruin it for you. You can watch and hear his response and more below. Such a hoot! One of my fave ever contestants and couples on Dancing With The Stars!
Below is After Buzz TV’s new podcast of the Dancing With The Stars Season 16 finale. This time dance pros Sharna Burgess and Lindsay join Kristyn Burtt and co-host Suri Serano. Enjoy!
Pro Cheryl Burke joined the GMA cast to discuss to Dancing With The Stars finale. First the hosts tell Cheryl she and D.L. Hughley should have received a “Spirit” Aawrd. She comments how she never thought they’d make it to week 5 and they were receiving a pity vote. Then they discuss how all the celebs were paired right with each pro (I agree! They were!). Then they discuss the Finals and how Derek Hough and Kellie Pickler won and how they deserved it. Cheryl loved Jacoby and Karina too and their fun and energy. Then Cheryl promotes her quest for women with bladder issues, Depends, and the “dress for success” Great American Try On Charity. They end the interview trying to convince Sam Champion to dance next season on Dancing With The Stars (I wish he would dance too! Do you?). Cheryl wants him for a partner. He changes the subject. lol You can watch this new interview at ABC HERE.
What a fun “Good Morning America” today. All through out the show, they partied with our four finalists from interviewing them and asking them trivia questions. Their family and friends also had guest spots congratulating them. Kellie’s husband gave her a cute little puppy. At the end, they wrapped up the show with the couples favorite dances. Tom Bergeron, Louis van Amstel, and Chelsie Hightower helped out with the party as well!! You can see some of GMA’s coverage at ABC. Below are some you tube videos of the coverage as well (thanks to @dwtsgossip for the heads up on these).
We have lots of fun post Dancing With The Stars Season 16 elimination interviews and media to share with you this morning, but, first we’d like to commend reader @DonaMadrina. She nailed it in her Numerology Report that she sent to us for the new Zodiac post this season. She made us a graph in gif form so we could take a look at this again….
Amazing, isn’t it? GOOD JOB DONA!!xxx
With that said, I’d just like to comment how much I loved last night’s finale. I think my only complaint of the whole night (like many others) was Zendaya’s flat shoes. Other than that, it was so cool seeing Sharna and Andy’s phenomenal Mad Hatter Lady Gaga Jazz number again. What’s more, they made it a huge dance production. And how about Dorothy Hamill and Kristi Yamaguchi’s dance with Henry and Sasha? What a “moment” that was. I also loved the performances by Wynonna (what a powerhouse), PSY (I’m so addicted to that crazy song and dance production now. lol), and Pitbull. A night to remember for sure!! More in Heidi’s Spoiler post and comments. You can also download all the music from the night in John’s new Music post here.
Ok, so let’s get right to some elimination interviews with Access Hollywood. Derek and Kellie, Aly and Mark, and Jacoby and Karina reflect on the season and how happy they are for this experience. Sorry, there isn’t anything posted for Val and Zendaya (yet anyway?)….
E News has a wrap up on the night and some interviews as well here.
And thanks to Kaitlyn showing us their location, below are the On The Red Carpet interviews…..
Let’s hope ET Online has some interviews posted shortly too.
Also, stay tuned to Pure Derek Hough as Miss Heidi will have a full mega wrap up there with Kellie and Derek including more articles and interviews for what you don’t see here.
Ok, more in a bit!!!
ETA: Here is the cast out and about after the finale:
This was a pretty interesting show, actually. Hated the reused choreo from pro dances during the season, but I liked the little cameos in the dances like the one of Len with Lisa and Andy and the boys with PSY.
Shock of the night….Aly was in 4th place. A whole bunch of filler later and we find Jacoby got third place…and had the best goodbye package in the history of this show.
Then it came down to, as expected, Kellie and Zendaya….and the winner is: KELLIE AND DEREK!!
How did we do?
Heidi: I said Zendaya would win with Kellie in the #2 spot. My second choice was Zendaya winning with Aly in the #2 spot.
Courtney: Said Zendaya was going to win with Kellie in #2 spot.
Vogue: Put Kellie in the #1 spot with Zendaya in #2.
Winner (besides Kellie and Derek?): Vogue and Whoever said pimping doesn’t always win. Very happy to be WRONG.
Always fun to watch and this one is very endearing!
ADDING: Thanks to Jim, here is the International version….
Please think about giving to Regional Food Bank, a local Oklahoma charity – I hear it’s good. If you don’t trust that, try the American Red Cross. My brother was hit by Katrina and raved about the Red Cross and everything they did in his community. Obviously, our thoughts and prayers are with those affected in Oklahoma. Thank you.
Well, that’s that. Can’t say I’m sad this season is over. Seriously, another twitter vote?? Why not just fess up and admit you want Zendaya to dance again cuz this is your last chance to pimp the crap out of her. Not even CLOSE to the best freestyle of the night, yet we’re likely going to have to see it again. Absolutely ridiculous. By the way, Tony Dovolani – you’ve been SCHOOLED on how to do a contemporary freestyle, my friend. You too, Maks. Take notes. Derek pretty much ruined contemporary for the rest of you on this show going forward. Read more..
Honestly, this may be the weakest finale performance night I think we’ve seen since season 5. I think almost everyone did worse in the “judges’ choice” round than they did the first time; only one freestyle really wowed me, and the rest ranged from “eh, ok” to “WTF???” Oddly enough, the only dance I found myself really enjoying was the cha cha relay – seemed like everyone just let loose and had fun with it. I think the judges made their agenda quite clear tonight, and I know I can’t be the only one that’s a little suspicious that the online voting is down on finale night FOR THE SECOND SEASON IN A ROW. No excuses, Muppets – you should have had it sorted out by now so that this type of thing doesn’t happen. Curious to me that you haven’t (or chose not to) worked out the kinks yet. Hmmm…but anyway, let’s start in reverse order, shall we?
4th Place: Jacoby & Karina
Poor Jacoby…he just really seemed to fall apart tonight, and it’s sad because 3 weeks ago I would have said that he had the MBT in the bag. Now, thanks to the machinations of TPTB, I think the poor guy is just suffering from a major case of burnout and just broke down tonight. While I agree that his judges’ choice jive was slightly better from a technical standpoint, I still prefer the first iteration – because it was SO DAMN FUN. Jacoby looked downright miserable doing this one – like he was so focused on getting the technique right that he forgot to enjoy himself…and that was really the appeal of Jacoby’s dancing all season: he just looked like he was having so damn much fun. Was a 27 rather kind? In the great scheme of things, probably; but since the judges were handing out 30’s like Oprah again tonight, I think 27 was relatively fair. I actually found myself enjoying he & Karina’s portion of the cha cha relay most – and I don’t think anyone can really disagree that they had the best ending transition The slide through Aly & Mark was pure genius and totally Jacoby And speaking of “being totally Jacoby” – I actually liked his freestyle, and wasn’t expecting some of the incredulous responses I was getting on Twitter when I *gasp!* said I enjoyed it. “But Courtney, it was SO MESSY!!!!” Was it messy? Yes. I saw the exact same routine you guys did, and I’m fully aware when something is messy. But at the same time, I think there’s more to a good freestyle than clean footwork and execution – there’s also HEART, and staying true to who you are. And while some of you may have balked at his freestyle as if it were the 2nd coming of the Marie Osmond doll freestyle (it wasn’t THAT bad, guys), I applauded him for sticking to his roots and sending a dance love letter to New Orleans…that routine was NOLA & Jacoby FOR DAYS. The band, the stepping, the tapping – I think he perfectly captured the dance culture of the Big Easy, while also dancing a routine that felt like something he’d do. He didn’t try and act like something he’s not (unlike a certain other couple…), he didn’t pick some random theme that he had no connection to – Jacoby did Jacoby, and I dug it. And he seemed to enjoy himself, which is why I’ve been a fan all season. But, thanks to the judges, who have given Aly a pretty comfortable cushion, I don’t think Jacoby can really hope for any better than 4th place tomorrow. He may, by the “grace of god” (as he put it), somehow bump Aly and take 3rd, but I’m not feeling optimistic. But I’m glad he made it to the finale, and got to dance for his hometown Read more..
Derek Hough: “Do you understand what you’ve gotten yourselves into? Do you realize that people will get hurt?” Derek asked while he and partner Kellie strike an intimidating pose. “You’ll be dropping like flies and we’ll be there to clean it up,” he later warned before laughing.
Val Chmerkovskiy: Zendaya’s partner’s message started off sweet as he wished Derek a happy birthday, before adding, “Hopefully your birthday wish isn’t to win Dancing With the Stars!”
