Pure Exclusive: Sharna Burgess Talks On 2014 Version Of DWTS, BWAT With Gleb Savchenko, And Lots More

What a joy it was to interview our beautiful Miss Sharna again!! After seeing her and Gleb Savchenko in “Ballroom With A Twist” in Cheyenne, Wyoming, I had so many questions. What’s fun is…she and Gleb put an amazing, show-stopping dance number to “Fever” together only several hours before the show. Let’s hope they will perform it again on Dancing With The Stars as it literally took my breath away and I know it would take yours away as well.

Also, Sharna catches up on all of her projects that happened in the off season of Dancing With The Stars! She and her boyfriend and dancer Paul Kirkland spent Christmas together and they also helped to choreograph two dances for “Strictly Come Dancing”. Not only that, but, they also put a dance piece together for a sports charity called “Sports Relief” with 4 incredible paralympians. Sharna also recently danced in Holland America’s Dancing With The Stars At Sea Cruise. She sent us some incredible photos and pictures highlighting everything as you will soon see.

Lastly, Sharna also gives some thoughts on the new season of Dancing With The Stars and how it will be the “2014 Version”. We think you might find her thoughts interesting.

So, without further ado, below is Sharna Burgess! We thank her so much for her time again and let’s hope we see her and Gleb on the new season of Dancing With The Stars.xxx

It is so great to visit with you again, Sharna. And first, omg,…can I just say, you and Gleb took my breath away at the Cheyenne, WY Ballroom With A Twist Shows Feb. 1st! So, what did you think of Cheyenne and the Rocky Mountains? Did you like the SNOW? I hope you will come back to the Rocky Mountain region again one day again.

Hi Vogue!!! Thank you so much for your beautiful review AND amazing photos!! that certainly means a lot to both Gleb and I. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see very much of Cheyenne, I flew in late the night before the show and super early the morning after, but I have to say that I loved the snow. Being Australian I have never really seen snow all that often, and what little snow we do have in Australia is really icy and hard, being in Cheyenne I truly understood what people mean when they say powder!! Its just so beautiful and fun to play in!! Of course we know mother nature can sometimes be cruel turn that beautiful snow into a menace, and my heart goes out to all of you who have been suffering with blizzards and painfully cold weather this season. I am truly grateful for every single person in the audience that braved the cold to come out and see us perform, Cheyenne was such an AMAZING audience and I had so much fun up on that stage! I feel like everyone’s troubles got left at the door and we all just had a wonderful evening. Its an honor for me to know that I was a part of that. I also hope that I make it back there again soon 🙂

BWATCheyenne2014 014

What kind of rehearsal process did you go through in getting ready for Ballroom With A Twist? I thought you and Gleb were only doing 2 dances. So, I was so happy and pleasantly surprised when you did more! They were just breathtaking as well as your costumes. You and Gleb were in an element of your own. I have to say (and I’ve heard this from other fans at PureDWTS too) that you two make one of the most beautiful pro pairings on the show. It’s true. There is a magnetism and chemistry there. Plus, you are both so funny too with the way you would tease one another.

Oh thank you!!! I absolutely love dancing with Gleb, not only is he the sweetest most humble guy on the planet, he is a fantastic partner and Read more..

PureDWTS Season 17 Exclusive: New Sharna Burgess Interview!!

SharnaBurgessSummer2013

A few of our readers had some really good questions to ask Dancing With The Stars Pro Sharna Burgess. Sharna answers questions about the most important things she’s learned once she became a pro on Dancing With The Stars. Sharna also takes us through the process of how she assesses her partner’s dance potential. She also chats on her pre-show rituals, her guilty pleasures, her dance mentors, and how she learned to choreograph for television and the movies. Lots more below. Enjoy! Thanks Sharna for another awesome interview!!xx

From Sandy:
What was the one most important thing that you learned about yourself once you became a pro on the show?

hmmm, thats tough! I think i learned greater patience, though I’ve always been a patient person, this show requires SO much of it. Patience is an art and a gift, and in tough situations it helps me stay calm, not sweat the small stuff and keep moving forward. Im such a passionate person that if my partner is not into it 150% i can become very frustrated. Dancing only works when you surrender to it and go all in, messing up is fine, but not trying is unacceptable. In saying that i have to remember that what can see like disinterest and disregard, is actually fear, and that is something that needs patience and nurturing if its going to be beaten.

From Cidra:
Please tell Sharna I think she’s an excellent competing pro, and I love her innovative choreography.

When you begin rehearsing with your new celeb, how do you begin to assess their dance potential? Do you start without music and see how they handle some basic Latin or standard steps, or do you put some music on the CD player and see how they move to music?

Hi Cidra!!! thank you very much!

The very first thing I need to know is Read more..

DWTS Season 15, Week 1 – The Cheesecake Awards!!!!

Well kids, we’re back & snarky/juvenile/perverse/etc!  😛 And for those of you not accustomed to our particular brand of humor – consider yourself warned.  We swear, we get innuendo-y, we make fart jokes, and we call people out for being stupid on the show.  If you are hypersensitive/lack a sense of humor/are a prude/whatever, you probably should just skip this post altogether…and you sure as hell better not comment on it.  Because any Debbie Downers/Bobby Buzzkills lurking in the comments section will be deleted without a 2nd thought.  Consider this the party post – party poopers need not apply, because we have plenty of fellow freaks who love to party along with our special brand of humor.  Party on, Wayne 😉

The “C U Next Tuesday” Award: Carrie Ann Inaba, for repeatedly calling out Tom for cutting her off

Courtney: We learned pretty quickly on Monday whether we’d get cool Carrie Ann or bitter, angry Carrie Ann this season – and I think she made it pretty clear it’s definitely the latter.  Look, CAI, I get it: your fairytale engagement didn’t result in a fairytale wedding, and you’re probably not too happy about that.  But did you really have to repeatedly heckle EMMY AWARD-WINNING HOST Tom Bergeron for cutting your commentary on Joey & Kym’s cha-cha off early? It was pretty obvious the show was moving at breakneck speed in order to fit everyone in, and I daresay that, being the EMMY AWARD -WINNING HOST of a LIVE reality tv show, Tom Bergeron knows a thing or two about effectively fitting into a time frame while still being entertaining – plus he probably had the Muppets upstairs screaming in his earpiece to move things along.  I highly doubt whatever long-winded critique you were going to offer up was all that insightful, CAI – it seldom is.  Yet your excessive self-importance forced you to interrupt things not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES to remind everyone that Tom cut you off – who’s the asshat now?

Heidi: My brother texted me during the show to call CAI names….then commented that her tampon is in sideways. 🙂  Yes, that is my family…we tend toward gross at times. But also very apropos.  But seriously, don’t heckle The Berg, biotch. It’s not all about you. Hard to believe, I know.

Courtney: Looks like someone had a bad case of Emmy Envy.  😛

The “Deeerrrrp” Award: Chelsie Hightower, for getting confused over the native languages of Brazil & South America; (dis)honorable mention – Val Chmerkovskiy, for not really knowing what Kelly did for a living

Courtney: “Wait…they speak Spanish in South America???” I’d like to think this was taken out of context, but from the puzzled look on Chelsie’s face…I doubt it was.  And by the earnest expression on Val’s face as he asked “Oh, you work in a hospital?”, I’m gonna venture a guess that “catching up on the soaps” is not on Val’s list of hobbies 😛

Heidi: Both were hilarious…but I was yelling at my TV, saying “Chelsie, STOP talking, yer makin’ it worse”, while laughing at her.  Val I thought was just endearing…and for Kelly, humbling. 😀

Couple’s Schtick That is Most Likely To Get Old VERY Quickly: Sabrina & Louis reminding everyone that Sabrina was voted in and this season is “all about redemption”; (dis)honorable mention for Derek’s short jokes and Kelly & Val’s pattycaking

Courtney: I just think the short jokes are corny 😛 And I guess I would just rather see Kelly & Val doing something other than pattycaking…something more…intimate.  😉 Maybe if they were playing pattycake with their face.  LOL 😛 But the Sabrina & Louis “the viewers chose us to be here!” and “this is all about redemption because Sabrina left too early” poppycock is just beyond annoying at this point.  If that’s their big reason why people should vote for them – then they must not be that special, because every week that any of the couples is sticking around, is a week they are being “chosen” by the viewers, since they’re obviously getting votes.  And you want to talk about “redemption”? Gilles was narrowly beat out for the MBT by a mere 1%.  Joey & Kirstie are both 2nd place finishers; Bristol finished 3rd in her season, and was pretty unpopular.  Drew, Kelly, & Emmitt are all trying to prove that the earlier champions are every bit as good as the newer ones. I daresay any of the names I just mentioned have a greater hunger for “redemption” than a 7th place finisher who just couldn’t get the votes to stick around in season 5…and has been reminding us about it ever since.

Heidi: Eh, I don’t mind the short jokes and Derek usually recognizes the shelf life of  joke in general. (I have to say, though, that the harassment he got from one Shawn fan freak on Twitter was OTT – yo, Derek ain’t the one that looks bad here, nutjob!) Also didn’t mind the patty caking – was rather amazed by that, actually. Not sure I could do that without a shit ton of beer to relax me.  🙂 But the Sabrina crap is in a whole other league from those other two because we’ve been hearing for YEARS about her (not) shocking elimination. Talk about drinking game potential. Get the fuck over it already! I’m about ready to stick a pen in my eye.  Guess what kids – you were voted in over Carson and Kyle, NOT the rest of the cast. You better hope like hell that Team Sabrina is a lot bigger than I suspect it is. Read more..

Mark Ballas Plays At The Viper Room, New Interview About DWTS Live In Las Vegas (Photos, Video)

Pictured above is Dancing With The Stars pro dancer Mark Ballas. Sunday night, he looked lean and mean playing his guitar at the Viper Room in Los Angeles. Seeing this picture and others like it at Getty Images makes me want to see him perform on Dancing With The Stars in a string duo with Val Chmerkovskiy again. How about you? Be sure to see all of the pics. They are some of the best music performing pics I’ve ever seen of Mark in action! He really gets into it!

Also, Fox 5 in Las Vegas interviewed Mark on Dancing With The Stars Live In Vegas. Last night, he danced for the first time in the show. He’ll be dancing until July 12th if you’d like to take it in. He will also be performing his music in the Tropicana Lounge on Thursday night. Details below.

Thanks to MarkBallas Facebook and MarkBallas.com for the heads up on the video above!

ADDING: KTNV in Las Vegas interviewed Mark as well as Sabrina Bryan. Yes, the two are reunited again. Watching this interview makes one wonder on if she will be back for the All Star season which is briefly mentioned? You can see the new interview HERE.

EW’s Video Interview With DWTS Tristan MacManus, Lacey Schwimmer, Joey Fatone, and Carson Kressley

As promised, Annie Barrett of Entertainment Weekly posted the videos of her backstage interview with Tristan MacManus, Lacey Schwimmer, Joey Fatone, and Carson Kressley before she saw Dancing With The Stars Live In Las Vegas. Carson shows off all of his costumes including his “Vogue” and “Moves Like Jagger” costumes. Tristan and Lacey talk on their injuries and the show’s ‘different vibe’ from the TV version. They say Tom Bergeron is jealous of Carson’s part and he is a “Silver Fox”. Joey Fatone talks of why he returned to dancing and how he loves his two dances. You can see more of this fun interview in four parts HERE.

Entertainment Weekly Gives Dancing With The Stars LIVE In Las Vegas Rave Reviews

What a great in-depth three page review for Dancing With The Stars: LIVE In Las Vegas by Annie Barrett of Entertainment Weekly. She gives huge props to Carson Kressley calling him a “marvel” in his hosting duties and how he is “never not funny” much like Tom Bergeron. She calls the show “quite stunning, especially during the many bombastic group numbers” and how the lack of cameras (seen if you are sitting in the audience on the TV version) “frees up the dancers to use the entire stage and actually move.”

The whole thing felt more like a musical — with slow/sensual or fierce/emphatic movements instead of dialogue, or literally (if we want to get all Carrie Ann about it) “beautiful lines” instead of spoken lines.

She also raves about dancing pro Lacey Schwimmer (who got hurt this past week) saying she “commands the stage”…

As I expected, the dancer who embodied that classic for-the-love-of-the-game performance quality the most for me was Our Pro Lacey Schwimmer. Girl knows how to command a stage — even if she had just slunk into a corner, she was all I could see. Also, uh oh: I just read that Lacey hurt her ankle during the week and didn’t dance last night. Noooooo. If she can’t return that’ll be a huge loss for the show. Lacey and her crazy hair extensions (currently pink and purple) are truly the life of the party.

But, Annette’s favorite dance in the LIVE show was, to her surprise, a Rumba with Dmitry Chaplain and Anya Garnis….

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Anya as one of Our Pros at some point — though if there’s any intention of maintaining a DWTS Vegas run throughout the rest of the year instead of just in the summer, whoever’s in charge may want to shackle her (using prop police handcuffs) and Dmitry to a Tropicana slot machine right now. She’s on fire!

YES. Fave dance of the night: Dmitry and Anya’s rumba. It took 14 seasons and a trip to Vegas for me to realize this, but maybe there IS a place for barefoot men in the ballroom. They just have to look/play the guitar/open their shirts like Dmitry. Oh screw that, they just have to be Dmitry. NEW RULE: Only Mr. Chaplin can remove his shoes.

Anya can barely even process his hotness.

You can read lots more of this fun review on the show and the cast at Entertainment Weekly. You can see more pictures as well. Also, be sure to read the part on Tristan MacManus. He joined her, Lacey, Carson, and Joey Fatone for a pre-show backstage chat in Carson’s dressing room. We hope to post that interview as soon as it’s made available.

Las Vegas Magazine Covers Dancing With the Stars: Live in Las Vegas (Photos)

Isn’t this a stunning shot of Lacey Schwimmer, Carlson Kressley, and Joey Fatone on the cover of Las Vegas Magazine? The three as well as the cast of Dancing With The Stars: LIVE In Las Vegas shot a new photo op. Below is a snippet of a wonderful write up they’ve done on the show.

The stage show premiered on April 13 and has been the talk of the town ever since; its stars are new Las Vegas royalty. The format of the stage version contains no judges, but fans of the TV show will be delighted that the 80-minute production is jam-packed with fabulous music and awesome ballroom dance routines. Along with the Las Vegas professional dance troupe are professional dancers and celebrities from past TV seasons, including Joey Fatone, Kyle Massey, Sabrina Bryan, Tia Carrere, Dmitry Chaplin and Lacey Schwimmer, with guest stars stopping by for a few performances, most recently Kym Johnson and Tristan MacManus. Playing host of the show (and shakin’ his booty in a few numbers, too) is season 13 darling Carson Kressley, whose “Vogue” routine will have you cheering in the aisles.

A musical score that includes hits from the Bee Gees, Elvis Presley, Little Richard and Madonna, and popular tunes like “Dream a Little Dream,” “Sing, Sing, Sing” and “Moves Like Jagger,” is the perfect backdrop for the show’s dance routines: foxtrot, waltz, paso doble, cha-cha-cha, rumba and tango.

Chaplin’s chest-baring, tight-jeaned rumba heats up the star-filled sky background, and Carrere’s waltz is breathtaking as she glides around in a stunning blue ball gown. Fatone’s jive certainly jumps and wails, and Schwimmer’s tango is precision mixed with straight-up sexiness. With more than a dozen routines, some side-splitting comedy between numbers (courtesy of Kressley) and on-point dance moves, Dancing With the Stars: Live in Las Vegas is a triumphant hit that continues to dominate entertainment on the Strip.

To read more and see some cool photos from the shoot (Lacey shoes remind me of Lady Gaga and Carson’s snake jacket is too fun.), be sure to visit Las Vegas Magazine. They have information on how to get tickets as well.

Also, for some cool, birds eye reviews of the show and if you haven’t done so yet, read Court and John’s personal reviews here and here. MUST READS!

Tristan MacManus Interviewed About Dancing with the Stars: Live in Las Vegas Show & More

KTNV in Las Vegas has a new interview up with Dancing With The Stars pro Tristan MacMacnus. Tristan chats about the last two seasons on Dancing With The Stars a little. He also discusses joining the ‘Dancing with the Stars: Live in Las Vegas’ show for the remainder of the show’s run this summer. Tristan says the “demand” is there to keep the show running past July 7th (the planned ending date). They ask him if he’s coming back for the new season of Dancing With The Stars in the fall, but, he (and the rest of the cast) won’t know anything definite until a couple of days before the announcement. He said, “Awwww yeah”, he’ll be ready to go is asked. You can watch the interview in full at KTNV.
