Pictured above is Dancing With The Stars Anna Trebunskaya and Jonathan Roberts pictured with Loren Ruch who is the producer of “Design Star All Stars”. The three worked together on a new episode where contestants redesigned some rooms in Anna and Jonathan’s house. You can read a blog about what took part behind the scenes with them here. When you are finished reading and if you weren’t able to catch it, be sure to see the episode on-line at HGTV. Thanks to to PureDWTS reader TDI19 for the heads up!
So many cool pics have come out of Anna Trebunskaya, Jonathan Roberts, Oksana Dmytrenko, Sasha Farber, Dmitry Chaplin, and Peta Murgatroyd while they danced in “Ballroom With A Twist” in San Francisco, California this summer. One weekend, Dancing With The Stars host Tom Bergeron was pictured with the cast when he went to one of the shows a few weeks ago (pictured above). To see a slew of pics, see these facebook pages here and here. Below are a few more pics with Peta, Dmitry, Oksana, Sasha, Anna, and Jonathan (be sure to see the “read more” link). If you are in the San Francisco are, be sure to see this show!
Just a couple of Dancing With The Stars media tidbits!! First up, get ready to set your DVRs! HGTV is reporting that the five remaining designers on “Design Star All Stars” must transform two large rooms for Dancing With The Stars pros Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskya. It might be challenging since Jonathan wants a “sophisticated man cave” while Anna wants a “chic living room/dining room that can double as a rehearsal space.” You can more at HGTV.
Also, isn’t this a great picture of Peta and Maks below? Now if these two don’t look happy, what’s happiness? ❓ 💡 Friday night the two celebrated Peta’s birthday at the Southampton Social Club. Then on Saturday, Maks and Peta along with Val headed to Georgica. You can read all about it and more social events in the Hamptons at Hamptons.com.
And in the land of Tony Dovolani….guess what? Tony will be taking over the “host” spot in the Dancing With The Stars Live In Las Vegas show from August 1st-5th. For more details, visit Broadway World. Louis Van Amstel will also be dancing in the show from July 19-29th. According to his twitter, he just arrived in Los Angeles. Will Louis be seeing a lot of Los Angeles in the next 4 months? It remains to be seen. 😀
Last, but, not least, don’t miss heading over the Pure Derek Hough as soon as you can. Miss Heidi has more goodies on Derek to share which includes more new gorgeous pics including this hot gem. Someone take our temperature. No don’t.
And that makes this a wrap!
Isn’t this a beautiful picture of Dancing With The Stars pro Anna Trebunskaya? Her long red hair is one of her best features, isn’t it?!! The photo was taken Thursday night in an opening number of “Ballroom With A Twist” with hubby Jonathan Roberts in San Francisco. There are more pics as well as a “mixed” review on the night at the San Francisco Gate. Dancing With The Stars troupe members Sasha Farber and Oksana Dmytrenko are also dancing in the production as previously reported. Peta Murgatroyd and Dimitry Chaplin will be dancing in it’s second week run. Let’s hope they take more pictures! For ticket information, scheduling, and times, be sure to visit MarinesMemorialTheatre.com.
Since they just aired season 5 on GSN, I figured I would do a little numbers retrospective – particularly because of the supposed “shocking” elimination of Sabrina and the horribly prolonged run of Marie Osmond.
I have to say, after watching Sabrina dance again, I have to agree with Len and Bruno when they commented on how she danced her foxtrot “too hard” – it was way too hard and she did miss a couple steps. Combine that with the talent and/or name recognition of her competitors, then is it really a surprise? Perhaps so, since Jane had been in the bottom two the week before. But everyone but perhaps Helio and Mel B was much better known with the DWTS demographic than Sabrina was – and Mel B was a better dancer and Helio was a huge and charming personality. Anyway, at the end of the night, week 6, the scores looked like this:
The Judges Scores and Percentages
Now, what these scores mean should be somewhat obvious to longtime readers of this series – Sabrina was not at the bottom of the leader board and, in fact, had a pretty decent lead on Marie and Jane and was tied with Cameron. In order for Sabrina to be eliminated, the following had to happen:
– She didn’t cover the spread of the dancers above her, AND;
– Cameron got ONE more vote per million votes cast than her, AND:
– Marie got 11,150 more votes per million votes cast than she did, AND;
– Jane got 16,700 more votes per million votes cast than she did.
Now, conventional wisdom has always said that Sabrina fans got over confident or were sure she was safe. But look at those numbers. That’s a good bit of overconfident and I’m not sure I believe it any longer. Marie’s faint was the week before, but there is no reason that Jane should go from a bottom two situation the week before to being safe at Sabrina’s expense the very next week. She made up a pretty big deficit. I’m inclined to believe that, like other lesser knowns before her, Sabrina didn’t have the fanbase that many believed. And we all know by now that great dancing isn’t always enough. And in case you still don’t agree – Sabrina was the high scorer in 3 of the 5 previous weeks. The two weeks she wasn’t the high score, she was in second place. The instant she falls out of the top 2, she’s eliminated. Coincidence?? Read more..

As many of you know, I was in Las Vegas last weekend and had the pleasure of seeing the DWTS live show at the Tropicana – which, of course, I will review for you guys, since certain other individuals *cough*JOHN*cough* haven’t managed to write the 2nd half of their review of the premiere of said show 😉 This post could get a bit wordy, as I took quite a few notes (and just have a really good memory, to boot) and I’ll throw in a few other possibly-unrelated-to-DWTS details for context, as well as some general Vegas info, since some of you have asked about my trip – so if you’re only interested in my review of the show, feel free to skip the next few paragraphs. And if you hate spoilers (i.e. you want to be COMPLETELY surprised when you see the show), I’d either just skip this post altogether or just read my overall take at the bottom – because I’m not holding back. You’ve been warned 😉 And special thanks go to Heidi, for helpin’ a girl out with some picture merges that were driving me cray-cray 😛
So why was I in Vegas in the first place, you ask? My best friend Kendra is getting married at the end of July, and she wanted a bachelorette party for the ages – so naturally, we HAD to go Vegas There were 12 of us altogether (11 rowdy bachelorettes and 1 gay bachelor, who I must say put us all to shame with how fabulously he was dressed the entire trip ;-)), and the majority of us stayed at the Flamingo, since we were able to get a great rate on standard rooms – with 4 girls to a room, it was only $82 total for each of us for 3 nights, which is pretty awesome for a well-known hotel on the strip that isn’t a total dive. Overall, I wouldn’t say the Flamingo is a particularly special or ritzy hotel (if that’s what you’re looking for, I’d go with the Bellagio, Palazzo, or Venetian…but be prepared to shell out big $$$), but if you’re on a budget, it’s certainly more than sufficient – the rooms are clean and the decor is kitchy & cute (think 1960’s, Rat Pack, original Ocean’s Eleven – lots of dots, stripes, retro furniture, and of course, pink :-)). I’m very into the nostalgia of Vegas, so the Flamingo appealed to me in that it was originally built by infamous mobster Bugsy Siegel, and legend has it that the actual motive behind his murder was to change the management of the Flamingo. But anyway – if you’re in Vegas, I definitely recommend trying their Paradise Garden Buffet – it’s pretty affordable, as far as buffets in Vegas go, and is quite good…especially the brunch buffet. Plus the views of their courtyard and flock of live flamingoes are gorgeous Also at the Flamingo? Donny & Marie Osmond’s live show – I didn’t see it (no time, and honestly, not much of a desire), but I did see these in the lobby:
The one on the left is Donny’s costume from his freestyle with Kym in season 9, as well as his MBT (and yes, according to the guest services director that I asked, it is his real MBT – apparently he insisted it be put in the case with his costume); the one on the right is Marie’s dress from her quickstep with Jonathan in season 5 (and one of those freaky dolls she designs – guess they had to put SOMETHING there when they found out that Donny wanted to display his MBT, although I’m not sure why they didn’t display this doll instead). I found Marie’s costume pretty unremarkable up close – for as fabulous as it looked on the show, upon further scrutiny, it’s really just a tan silk gown with some gems glued on; but Donny’s suit is very well-made and clearly took a lot of work. Interesting how different the costumes look on tv vs. in person (more on that later). Read more..
