Wow, where do we begin after such a fantastic finale on Dancing With The Stars Season 13? I have to say it was so cool to have it all ending on a “fun” and “happy” note. Thank you to the dancing Gods and powers that be for making this happen!! Ok, onto to some fun interviews after the show….
First, here are the couples being interviewed by Access Hollywood. Everyone is happy. Rob and Cheryl did “the best they could” and that’s all that matters. Derek is so proud saying they “went out with a bang” and last night was a “true celebration”. J.R. thanks everyone for the amazing journey and Karina! They “hold the best balls in the world.” LOL
Second, below are the ET interviews. All are so thankful for the opportunity to dance. Some of the cast members comment on J.R. winning as well….
White space for those who might not want to know until later….you know retweets often put the first sentence in the tweet and it’s only polite to try to avoid that.
The Winner is: JR AND KARINA!!! Congratulations!!
Second place – Rob and Cheryl.
Third place – Ricki and Derek
I will say, this was a pretty enjoyable final – and leave the rest for the Cheesecake Awards. Carson is my favorite non-final three person. Ok, had to share that. and I’ll say that Mark and Derek don’t discriminate – they are going to hoist the winners, regardless. Good boys.
DON’T FORGET!!! We dont go anywhere in the off season. Vogue will still be posting random media, all of us will be watching for rumors, I’m still working on my ringer series, and the series on the history of judges scoring. Courtney has several things up her sleeve….and most of all, we have the final LoLz and Cheesecake coming up late this week early next week. Be sure to come by and hang out!!
I will be relaxing for a few days, but the cheese and lolz are coming soon. In the meantime…HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
For those of you who weren’t able to turn into Nightline to see J.R.’s new interview, here it is below. He has his Mom to thank for beginning his road to recovery after what happened to him in Iraq. It’s been a long road to the dance floor…
Yes, it’s me back with some more new interviews and reviews!! Are you ready? First up, we have Cameron Mathison on Good Morning America today reviewing the dances and couples…
Louis Van Amstel reviewed the night as well in his new blog at ABC. Below are his overall thoughts. He can’t decide who should be the winner yet. Be sure to read more of his thoughts on each dance at the link.
Overall: It was an interesting night. Ricki is technically the best dancer. J.R. is the most rhythmical and shows his spirit the most, while Rob is the most relaxed and is coming from behind. You guys have a hard time voting for the couples. All three celebs have qualities that could win them the trophy. It’s going to be the very last performance that determines the winner. Nothing is set in stone. I do believe the right three celebs made the final on dancing, so at least no one made the final on fan base alone.
It’s also going to be an interesting competition between the Pros. Will Derek win for the fourth time? Cheryl for the third time? Or will Karina take the trophy for the first time? As of now, I couldn’t pick a winner yet. I’ll be watching it live tomorrow night and only then can I make an informed decision as to who should win, in my opinion!
Now let’s move on the Access Hollywood interviews with Tim Vincent….
Wow, what a fun first final night on Dancing With The Stars Season 13!! If you haven’t done so yet, be sure to tell us your thoughts and reviews in Courtney’s new Power Ranking Post. Stay tuned for a new Numbers post for who will win from Heidi as well shortly. In the mean time, enjoy some new interviews after the finalists danced last night from On The Red Carpet with George Pennacchio…
First up, Kirstie Alley was in the audience and below are her thoughts on the night. She loved Ricki and her “spins”. She also talks of her new TV show coming;
Some of the cast from “All My Children” had some thoughts on the show and why J.R. continues to be such an “inspiration” for everyone….
Chaz Bono had some thoughts too. He will be proud for whoever wins and this entire cast will be close friends for life…
And finally, the dancers….
J.R. talks of how tough the competition is. It’s anyone’s game. They were disappointed in their Cha Cha, but, are happy with their freestyle. J.R. never thought all of this could be possible after what happened to him in Iraq.
Rob is on a ‘high cloud’ right now. He never expected to receive all “10′s” for he and Cheryl’s freestyle, but, it’s a whole other day tomorrow (tonight) and he plans to go into it again with a comfortable, confident approach and giving it all he’s got. This show has taught him so much and that anything is possible. He’s hoping to go to law school and follow his Dad’s footsteps when Dancing With The Stars is over.
Derek talks of how they want to continue to keep the pressure off tonight and whatever the outcome, it’s a “celebration”. Ricki is happy with how they danced last night. She never thought she’d be able to dance like she did when she had the weight issues she’s had in the past. They talk of her new Talk show and marriage coming up. Win or lose tonight, “Ricki is back and better than ever”.
YAY!!! It’s almost over. I can relax, have some turkey and stuffing, play some video games, drink some beer….oh wait, nothing has been stopping me from drinking beer.
Anyway, it was great at the start of the season and it’s great at the end. Got a little rough in the middle but all is well now. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – think JR will likely win. Don’t know who will get second and third – but does it really matter?? Nah. I’m zen. I think it should be Ricki in second since she has the highest average for the season and did better last night than Rob did, regardless of the scoring, but it is what it is. I like all three contestants a good deal.
Gotta say – going into tonight, I couldn’t recall a time I was THIS EXCITED to see a finale since maybe season 10. Nor have I ever felt this invested in the outcome of a season of the show as I am in this one…seriously guys, I might lose my faith in humanity if JR does not win. Fair warning.
Anywho – as much as I hoped this would be a good, clean, honest finale, there unfortunately seemed to be some shady business afoot. DEFINITE overscoring, and I think you all know who I’m referring to. Overall, the “last unlearned dance” round was pretty underwhelming & lackluster, and the freestyle round only slightly made up for it for me. But let’s get on with it, shall we? Gonna do things a little differently tonight – I’m gonna start with 3rd place and work my way up to the winner, and I’m going to try to guesstimate how things are going to pan out tomorrow night.
3rd place: Rob & Cheryl
As much as Rob may have endeared himself to me this season, methinks he wasn’t as good as his scores would lead us to believe this evening. The waltz was pleasant – if not a bit goofy. That whole “run towards one another and I’ll run around Cheryl as she spins” move made me chuckle a bit…my mom busted out laughing, and said “It looks like he’s going around the Maypole!” And I had to laugh too – because that’s exactly what it looked like. Some footwork & timing issues as well, but overall I wouldn’t say it was painful to watch…just…goofy. Now the freestyle. *sigh* I liked the idea of it, I really did. And I thought it was smart of Cheryl to go with something that seemed to play on Rob’s strengths. But that was by no means a 30-worthy routine. Seemed like Cheryl did most of the tough stuff (it was like Gilles’ freestyle all over again), and it just took too long to really go anywhere. Rob did the best he could with what he was given – little imp. Got a bit scared when he was spinning around with Cheryl on his shoulders, though – thought I was gonna have to use my physics minor to calculate tangential velocity as she flew across the room. I think Rob really likes going around in circles, hehe. Cute idea & choreography – but it was just lacking in content for me, and I don’t think I’m completely alone. So why, then, did the judges give it a 30? *shrugs* Who knows. Part of me thinks they might be trying to shake up the top 2 by displacing Ricki or JR; part of me thinks this could have been a strange strategy for spurring Ricki & JR fans to vote even harder. I honestly can’t give you a theory that’s 100% sound or reasonable. But I am gonna put my faith in humanity (god help me) and say that Rob will probably get 3rd in the favorite dance round tomorrow, and won’t get the points to overcome JR or Ricki. But it’s been nice seeing Rob evolve from kind of a douchebaggy guy to a goofy but kinda lovable guy that managed to emerge from the shadow of his harpies-er, sisters. Read more..
TV Guide has written up a cool commentary sizing up the three couples for the Dancing With The Stars Finale. They dissect their advantages, disadvantages, what to look out for, and why each could win. Here are some takes for each….
Why he might win: Who doesn’t love an underdog? The unlikeliest finalist of the trio, Kardashian, like most people, never pictured himself in the final. “The fact that we’re in the position that we’re in? I shocked myself,” he says. Many pre-season predictions had him going out early, like Kim did, but he’s proved them wrong with his ability and commitment, so who’s to say he can’t top it off with a victory?
Keep an eye out for: More booty-shaking. Kardashian’s big bum has been both an asset and his own worst enemy, but he used his gluteus maximus to the, uh, max in the samba last week — and look at that! There’s going to be an Instant samba in the finals. “He’s learned to work with his butt, so we’re going to use that to our advantage,” Burke says.
Why she might win: Lake has reclaimed the momentum after relinquishing it midseason to Martinez. After Martinez hurt his ankle last week, Lake emphatically stamped herself as the current one to beat with her first 30 and the highest score of the evening. Plus, she has Hough as her partner, and he obviously knows what it takes to win. Did we mention that he’s also been perfect in finals? Lake can make that record 4-0, but don’t remind him of that. “I try not to think about it,” he says.
Keep an eye out for: Another trademark Hough, crowd-pleasing freestyle. Freestyles are Hough’s bread and butter, and he says if theirs — an idea he’s been kicking around for a bit — goes according to plan, it could be “really cool.” And we all know that freestyles are the make-it-or-break-it dance.
Why he might win: He’s got the complete package: technique, talent, charm and sizzling chemistry with Smirnoff. Cynics might suggest his story will garner sympathy votes, but Martinez has proven week in and week out that he has the goods, and has undoubtedly won over more fans with his performance and fun-loving personality. “I think anybody would be a fool not to root for J.R. given who he represents and how great he is,” Maksim Chmerkovskiy writes in his TVGuide.com blog. “Everything about him screams Dancing winner.”
Keep an eye out for: Not to be a downer, but any effects from his ankle injury. It would be a shame if he can’t put his best foot forward (no pun intended) in the finals. “I hope his ankle’s all right,” Hough says. “He’s overcome so much as it is. He’s a fighter and a competitor, so I’m sure he will tough this out.”
Interesting read! Each are so special in their own way! Be sure to read more of TV Guide’s thoughts in full here before the show tonight!!
