As you know from a previous posting, Mark Ballas and Dancing With The Stars Season 14 partner, Katherine Jenkins, reunited to dance on Strictly Come Dancing in the UK over the weekend. Below is their fun performance. Special thanks to Codebear2 for sending….
KLUC’s The Morning Zoo in Las Vegas recently called Mark Ballas for a phone interview to help support their Toy Drive. They also talked about his new album coming out in the new year, Bristol Palin, and his dream partner for Dancing With The Stars. He also talked of being reunited with Dancing With The Stars Season 14 partner Katherine Jenkins for a “Strictly Come Dancing” results show in England which airs this coming weekend according to this source (is this correct Mark Ballas fans as I don’t keep up with Strictly Come Dancing. Is there anything else we should know?). More below and be sure to visit Pure Derek Hough. Heidi has some fun pictures and coverage with Mark because Derek is in London as well.
Thanks to MarkBallas.com for the heads up of the interview above!!
This past weekend, a Katherine Jenkins TV special aired across Britain. It was called “Steppin’ Out With Katherine Jenkins”. To add to all the entertainment and fun, Dancing With The Stars pro Tristan MacManus joined her in a “Argentine Tango” segment. From all the dances on the special that she performed (a waltz, an Argentine tango, a tap routine and a tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers), she said the Argentine tango was the toughest since it’s “so technical”, you have to be “really strong” and it’s “the most intense”. Below is more from TV Choice.
You’re performing a waltz, an Argentine tango, a tap routine and a tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. But which of those is the most challenging?
I think probably the Argentine tango is the toughest. It’s so technical and you have to be really strong. It’s the most intense. But I was lucky because I had one of my dance partners from America, Tristan MacManus, over, so I did the tango with him.
You can read more on the special at TV Choice. You can also see a fun picture of Katherine and Tristan. And here is the dance at the 35:00 minute mark….
Wow, these two make a hot dance pairing and maybe even more so than she and Mark Ballas? I love her lines and extensions with Tristan’s height and longer legs. Beautiful and so passionate!
Special thanks to Darren Hughes You Tube for the video!
According to Zap2It, there will be a one hour special before the results show on Tuesday where “the judges will select and introduce past routines from the All-Stars’ previous seasons” and then the All Stars “will recount and comment on selected routines”. As previously reported, Katherine Jenkins will be performing and her special guest is ….Plácido Domingo. Note how Cher Lloyd will be performing as well. Lacey and Benji Schwimmer, the troupe, and more will be dancing in a teaser for Week 3’s “Iconic Dance Night”.
“Episode 1502 & 1502A” – Monday’s performance show showcases the remaining 12 All-Star couples dancing either the Jive or the Quickstep, live, MONDAY, OCTOBER 1 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
In a one-hour special, “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars — Defining Dances,” airing TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), the judges will select and introduce past routines from the All-Stars’ previous seasons, ultimately defining the winning attributes that each All-Star demonstrated in these performances. The All-Stars will recount and comment on their mindsets during these selected routines. Following the special, the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: The Results Show” on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) will feature Katherine Jenkins, last season’s finalist and classical singer, who returns to the ballroom as a special musical guest. She will be taking the stage with Plácido Domingo, performing “Come What May,” featured on Domingo’s new album, “Songs,” out October 16th. Their stunning duet will be accompanied by pro dancers Valentin Chmerkovskiy and Anna Trebunskaya. Also taking to the “Dancing with the Stars” stage is 19 year-old pop powerhouse Cher Lloyd, performing her hit single, “Want You Back.” Her latest album, “Sticks + Stones,” releases October 2nd.
Tuesday night’s exciting lineup continues with the season’s first “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance, a futuristic standoff featuring some of the world’s most talented dancers battling for dance floor supremacy. The performance is choreographed by Shannon Mather, spotlighting Blake McGrath, Ian Eastwood and Tyne Stecklein leading their groups in an epic performance. We will also tease week 3’s “Iconic Dance Night” with a medley of iconic routines from seasons past, performed by The Troupe as well as talented dancers Anya Garnis, Jaymz Tuaileva, Lacey and Benji Schwimmer. And before night’s end, the second couple of the season will be eliminated.
Get ready, according to a tweet made by Katherine Jenkins last night, she’s going to perform on the Results show next week. Any guesses or knowledge on who the “secret guest” might be or what they will perform? I think it would be cool to see Mark or Derek perform with her, but, I’m not sure the wording of this tweet fits that scenario?
Thanks so much to PureDWTS Matt for passing along this information to Courtney. Stay tuned. We hope to know more details on the second shows and entertainment later.
Watch Katherine Jenkins And Mark Ballas Dance A Paso Doble At 2012 Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert
Last weekend, Dancing With The Stars Season 14′s 2nd place couple, Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas, reunited to dance at the 2012 Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City, Utah. You can watch them together again below….
What an intense look on Derek’s face, hmm? Above is Derek and Mark pictured backstage at the Mormon Tabernacle in Utah this weekend. Note how Mark is in his spats as well. You can read all about the weekend for what Heidi can gather on it and see more fun pics at Pure Derek Hough. Note how Katherine Jenkins and Derek and Mark’s parents are pictured and mentioned as well. A Hough Ballas Reunion! Too fun!
All of the above/any combination of the above answers – 17 (Sorry guys, too many different combos to list them individually!)
Derek & Maria’s kiss – 1
William & that stupid running & sliding move in every single dance – 1 (Annoying, yes, but is it really a “controversy”, per se?)
Katherine’s “injury” – 1
Derek’s behavior – 1
Cheryl’s Emmy-worthy creativity *sarcasm* – 1
None – 1
Rock & Roll Week – 1
Overstating Maria’s injuries, ribs NOT broken…hurt, yes, but not broken – 1
William wearing the same shirt in many different colors – 1 (Again, it’s annoying, but is it really controversial?)
Dance marathon – 1
Courtney: Again, it looks like we have several different interpretations of the term “controversy” here. I guess the way I interpret it within the context of the show, a “controversy” is something that occured that caused a great deal of debate and dissenting opinions on the issue – but maybe some other people interpret it as something that just really bugged them personally. I guess I need to be a bit more specific in my explanation of next season’s awards, perhaps along with eliminating the write-in category Anywho! I think the results are about right on the money – I found the most prolonged, contentious, polarizing issue of the season was the question of whether or not William was getting unfairly favored by the judges and/or the TPTB, and just the judges being highly subjective in their scoring across the board. I don’t think we’ve ever had a precedent for a situation like the one that unfolded this past season – I can’t recall a time in a past season where the judges were so blatantly displaying favoritism towards a certain contestant. Granted, there is always some degree of subjectivity, and the judges do tend to pick favorites each season, but I don’t think we’ve seen it before to the degree that we did this season. As for Jaleel’s behavior, the dance duel, & Cheryl’s behavior – yes, they all generated a great deal of debate and polarity in opinions, but perhaps weren’t as prolonged as the William/judges controversy. As for the trio dance – I know some of you are probably balking at the notion of it being “controversial”, but I seem to recall quite a few debates about which couples would pick which pros and how it would be advantageous to some and a disadvantage for others, so there was at least a bit of controversy there. Especially on the topic of who would get Tristan
Vogue: I think this poll was spot on as well. As much as I loved William himself and his dancing too, the pimping was over the top. I was patient about it at first and could understand the interest in him being he was a new sexy Latin star to hit the Hollywood scene, but, the hype and the manipulation from the producers and the judges scoring and then Cheryl herself out of control took it’s toll on a great many of fans. Sadder yet, was that William himself could see it too and it wasn’t something he welcomed. I really admired his humbleness through out it all which made me a fan. I wish I could say the same for Cheryl. I’ve lost a lot of respect for her that I once had. I was also outraged with Jaleel’s behavior. I was so glad when he was finally picked to go.
Heidi: I think the top three were the only real controversies – and they were doozies. The rest? Nah. And the write ins?? Some people need a little reality check. :-) Although I did snicker at the “emmy worthy creativity” one. Every season there is someone who is the judges favorite – but it’s usually someone who is the best dancer. Not this season. This season they had their favorite….and he was also pimped to high hell at every opportunity by the show itself. It was quite ridiculous. Now can we go to my favorite moment of the season? Carrie Ann’s mouth falling open when said controversial dude took THIRD place. Anyway, after a while it seemed to be a highly orchestrated dance (pardon the expression) between production and judges to make sure this guy went to the finals. Of course, they seemed determined to get Katherine there as well (and keep Donald away), but it was at a much higher level with Willy…and Katherine could really DANCE. Madness.

Many thanks to @carolynbishop2 for the heads up on this story – cross posted from PureDerekHough.com.
So is this why he’s been spending time with Katherine? Or is this a result of his spending time with Katherine. Inquiring minds and all that. From Express.co.uk:
The 32-year-old mezzo-soprano is set to jet out to the US to perform at a series of concerts with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra in Salt Lake City and is (ahem) apparently fascinated by all things Mormon.
“I’m really intrigued to find out more about the Mormon way of life,” she tells us. “I’m going to be dancing the paso doble with Derek in front of 44,000 Mormons.”
UPDATE: Thanks to Elmari for the heads up that you can watch this on TV if you get BYUtv on your cable…or you can watch it online.
Check out this fun photo! Friends and Dancing With The Stars pros Derek Hough, Maks Chmerkovskiy, Peta Murgatroyd, and Cheryl Burke had a birthday celebration for Maria Menounos and Katherine Jenkins last night at the Lavo in Las Vegas. They are also in Las Vegas this weekend to take part in a Donald Driver Charity golf tournament. You can see more photos and details on the night at Haute Living.
