Alex and Maia Shibutani Talk Derek Hough and Dancing with the Stars (Video)

I would love to see them on the all athlete season. It’s a shame that Derek can’t dance with Maia – but she won’t be a ringer if she’s not dancing with Derek….right? 😉 Here they are talking to Kelly and Ryan about how they went to Derek for advice and the possibility of DWTS.

PureDWTS Season 26 – Who Would You Like to See on DWTS Junior? Court Picks Pros & Celebs

So we’re still over 6 months away from the premiere of Dancing with the Stars Junior next spring, but given that any show with minors seems to take quite a bit more planning, I’m guessing the casting directors are already wheeling & dealing on who they want on the show – after all, they’re not just casting potential celebs, but pros too…and apparently a host, as well, as Tom has said he will not be hosting the spinoff. Alfonso, you still lurking around set? 😉 We need a host, bruh. My gut’s still telling me that Maks will somehow land on the judging panel, and I guess I can only hope that being a father himself with have softened him a bit…I don’t think I could bear a whole season of him being as big a jerk as he was guest judging switch week on DWTS.  And to kids, no less 😯

I had mixed feelings upon hearing about the spinoff – and if I’m being honest, my feelings are still pretty mixed – but at the very least, I think having a brand new set of pros, judges, and celebs (and perhaps a bit of a new format, to accommodate the unique nature of casting kids) might give me a bit of a reprieve from the manipulative grind of the regular DWTS. And the fact that all of the pros are gonna be brand new? Makes it hard for producers to play favorites 🙂 But I do worry about seeing young kids face rejection on national television, especially after seeing young kids cut on World of Dance this summer…I just hope the producers know they have to handle them far more gently than they do the adults on DWTS.

So all that being said – who do I want to see as pros and celebs on the show? Well, given that they haven’t really specified what the age range will be, I am gonna guess that anyone under the age of 18 is probably going to be eligible to be a pro or a celeb partner – similar to the competitive ballroom world, where 18 is more or less the cutoff for dancing in the youth division, and then they make you just start doing adult amateur events. Yes, I’m aware that Willow Shields was only 14 when she did the regular version of the show – but if we cut it off at 14, we actually lose some potentially good pro and celeb choices, and I don’t think the show is going to be able to afford to be THAT picky.  So 18’s my cut-off, and all of my picks won’t turn 18 during the airing of the show, either.  I was also realistic – I doubt we’re gonna see the children/siblings of any huge, A-list celebs on DWTSJ.  So yeah – no Jolie-Pitts and the like on this list.  I listed celebrity children that I think the show actually stands a chance of possibly getting.

I find myself caring more about the pros than the celebrity contestants (although there’s two celebs that I’ve already picked out pro partners for… 😉 ), but I had a good time compiling this list nonetheless.  Let me know what you think 😉 Read more..

Carrie Ann Inaba Co-Hosts Live with Kelly – Day 2 (Video)

I have not had a chance to watch CAI co-hosting with Kelly, but from the opening of this clip, it sure looks like they’re having fun!!

DWTS Carrie Anne Inaba Co-Hosts On LIVE! With Kelly, Chats On Len, Bruno, Maks, and More

Dancing With The Stars judge Carrie Anne Inaba was back to co-host LIVE! With Kelly again today. Carrie Anne and Kelly come out dancing. They talk about bikinis and their origin. Then they talk about fellow Dancing With The Stars judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli. Len is tall while Bruno is short. What’s more (and we’ve heard this before), Bruno likes to hang out in his underwear before every show. 😯 At one point, Carrie Anne also mentions Maks Chmerkovskiy and how she and him fight whenever she wears “red” (WHA??). Carrie Anne says she and Maks don’t always get along because they are both “Capricorn” and compassionate about what they do (well, there is more to it than that, but, ok). Lot’s more fun with these two below…

DWTS Judge Carrie Anne Inaba To Teach For Dance House USA, Co-Hosts LIVE! With Kelly

Today, Carrie Anne Inaba helped Kelly Ripa co-host her show. It started out with Madonna’s “Girl Gone Wild” single playing in the background (love this song! Girl Gone Wild (Remixes) - Madonna  ) as the two came walking out on the stage. They talk of how Gelman finally won on Emmy. Next, Kelly thanked Carrie Anne for helping her daughter with a school project when they were doing the show in Hawaii. She commends Carrie Anne for being good to “little people trying to find their way”. Kelly’s daughter is also a Hip Hop dancer which leads into a discussion about how Carrie Anne is helping to teach a class for “Dance House USA” in the Hamptons in July. You can watch more in detail below. These two are fun together as always.

Dancing With The Stars Judge Carrie Anne Inaba To Co-Host LIVE! With Kelly Again

Another TV Heads Up! Be sure to tune into LIVE! With Kelly on July 5th as Dancing With The Stars judge, Carrie Anne Inaba will be serving as Kelly’s co-host. Should be fun as the last time Carrie Anne helped Kelly co-host, they were very entertaining and it was a natural fit for Carrie Anne. PureDWTS fan DW described Carrie Anne as being “friendly, endearing, accessible, funny, and laughed at all Kelly’s jokes”. PureDWTS fan EWfan98 wrote, “Sometimes to me she (Carrie Anne) comes off as taking her job on DWTS too seriously, whereas off-show, I think she is a lot of fun and has great charisma!” Below are more details of what is planned for LIVE! With Kelly with Carrie Anne from the Examiner.

Another celebrity favorite, Carrie Ann Inaba, will serve as co-host on July 5. The “Dancing with the Stars” judge will appear with actress Salma Hayek.

Among other guests scheduled to appear July 2-6 are Sally Field on July 2 and Martin Sheen on July 3.

Mario Lopez Doesn’t Think He’ll Be Able To Do Dancing With The Stars Again

Mario Lopez was the first to “let the cat out of bag” when he mentioned there would be a Dancing With The Stars All-Star season on LIVE With Kelly. He also mentioned that the producers have called him to do the show, but, he wasn’t sure about coming back. Today, TV Guide is reporting he doesn’t think he’ll be able to do it. Below is more…

Talking about casting before the official announcement is a no-no. Now Lopez says, “I’m really busy, so I don’t think I’ll be able to do it. I don’t watch the show and didn’t even watch when I was on it. My mom wanted me to do it.”

Hmmm,…not sure what to think? I tend to think he could be persuaded. I don’t take this as a definite “no” yet, do you?

DWTS Season 15 – The All-Star Season

Season 14 has concluded for Dancing with the Stars and TPTB have spent at least half of the season if not the past year fanning flames for Season 15. In the now-official announcement of an “All Star Cast” being on the horizon. For those that are confused, Vogue posted a video a while back of Mario Lopez joining Kelly Ripa on her show “Live! with Kelly” and mentioned that he was approached to be a part of the cast of Season 15.

But before I go any further let’s go back a few years. Back in late 2009, John posted a “All I Want for Christmas” DWTS wish list, who would have thought that some of the items would have come true:
1. Replace Samantha – TPTB DID replace Samantha with Season 7’s winner: Brooke Burke. In some ways that was an improvement, and in other ways… it still felt the same. Ah well
2. No Live Band – No such luck. *pouts*
3. More Behind the Scenes – I think there is quite a bit behind the scenes footage now… moreso than I remember there being before.
4. How about a themed DWTS? All sports people or all singers or all tv personalities. – Unfortunately when John first mentioned a “themed DWTS” he meant all the celebs be from a particular group versus themed nights… can’t have everything.
5. Dancing with the Stars All Stars – More on this later
6. More Pro Dances – This is also hard to see if it has happened or not.
7. DWTS Tour – Well we got a Vegas Live show now… that’s better than nothing.
8. Edyta For the Win – Unfortunately Edyta left after Season 10. So unless they bring her back for the All Star Season and make it so she wins… I don’t see this happening.
9. Fewer Contestants – Ever since Season 9 (which had a whooping 16 couples), TPTB had only 11 or 12 couples per season.
10. A DWTS Professionals Special – We’ve had a few specials that showed some of the best routines from previous seasons, be it celeb/pro dances or pro dances or pro group dance numbers. I say this was a win.

Of the above Top Ten wish list, I wouldn’t be surprised if TPTB actually went through the list and looked to see what was doable. Now the big one: Since 2009 PureDWTS have mentioned a desire for an “All Star Season” and how cool it would be to bring old favorites from previous seasons and watch them compete for their chance at the mirror ball trophy. In fact Cheryl Burke once tweeted that a possible “All Star Season” was in the works two seasons from when she first mentioned it. Looking at the date of the post… the “two seasons” lead into Season 15, then add to that Mario Lopez’s comment of being asked to be a part of the All-Star line up. Well… let’s just say that at the date that this post was original written (April 27th) we now know that this is a definitive possibility.

So where does that bring us? Well, I got curious, since I (Marianya) predict scores for the show… having an All-Star season would totally bust my predictions and calculations, because these would all be celebrities that now have some sort of prior dance experience coming in. Another factor is how many of them would actually remember want was taught to them the first time they were on the show? To me it doesn’t seem to be very many, but I could be dead wrong. One thing’s first certain, the expectations would be higher and the scores would be crazy!

Then there are the celebrities that are participating in the DWTS Live Show at the Tropicana, namely: Carson Kressley, Joey Fatone, Kyle Massey, Sabrina Bryan and Tia Carrere. Would they be counted out since they are already participating in another DWTS related show?

Taking what Tom has already mentioned on the show, he said that the contestants would include:
– Past Mirrorball Winners
– Fan Favorites
– Controversial Characters

Umm… I don’t necessarily mind the “controversial character” because I do see the draw of that to the show, but I have an issue with past Mirrorball winners. I mean, I would much prefer that everyone in the cast not have won before so it would give the celebrities a second chance to win. People don’t necessarily have to agree with me, but dammit I don’t think it would be fair for the celebrities in particular if there were past winners in the All-Star cast. In fact, I would much rather have a separate season (perhaps for Season 20?) where all of the previous Mirrorball winners would compete to see who is the best of the best… but that’s just me.

And then there is the question of: What constitutes a “fan favorite”? Do they have polls, numbers, know who averaged the most number of call ins? And on top of all that: Will they be nice and take one celebrity to represent every season of DWTS thus far, but wouldn’t that give those of Season 14 an unfair advantage? The questions are endless.

Still, this will undoubtedly bring a lot of the fans that have tuned off the show back on if they have the right mix of celebrities. I’ve talked to a number of my friends that were fans of the show but haven’t really had any huge desire to watch the show in recent months, so perhaps bringing in an All-Star season is exactly what is needed to bring a jolt into the series.

Next up… I’ll have posts analyzing the scoring progressions of two of the stars that were rumored to be approached for the All-Star Season: Mel B and Mario Lopez as well as adjustments to the upcoming season.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Mario Lopez Mentions There Will Be An All-Star Season Of Dancing With The Stars On Live With Kelly (Video)

Today Mario Lopez was a co-host on LIVE With Kelly. In the first part of the show, they started discussing Dancing With The Stars and the elimination last night. They didn’t like the Dance Duel. They also talked of the judging and how unfair it is at times to the contestants. Then Mario mentioned how there will be an “All-Star” season for Dancing With The Stars 15 and how they called him to do it. You can watch what he says about it all below….

So, what do you think and would you want Mario to come back to do an “All=Star” season of Dancing With The Stars? Who else would you like to see come back?

I’d love to see Kirstie Alley, Jennifer Grey, and Evan Lysacek come back. Mario would be cool too!!!

Pure Dancing With The Stars Update On “LIVE! With Kelly” Shows!!

Did any of you tune in to see Carrie Ann Inaba on LIVE! With Kelly yesterday? She didn’t mention anything on Dancing With The Stars’ new season, but, she was a kick to watch. She and Kelly Ripa definitely have that magic it takes to co-host together in my opinion. Carson Kressley did a segment with the wedding rehearsal dinner which was good too. Carrie Ann raved on his “Moves Like Jagger” dance from last season. She also said (joked?) she’d love to see him back to do the show again a second time and he agreed. Lots more below and at the LIVE! With Kelly official site.

Don’t forget to tune into Friday’s show as we’ll get to see the wedding couple dance and more of Derek Hough teaching them in some pre-filmed footage hopefully. Also, watch this facebook page closely, they might post some “behind the scenes” pictures and video footage.
