Dancing with the Stars Season 20 – PRO WATCH!!

LIVE BLOG is happening here,  which is where all the pros will be added as it happens.

Well, a lot has happened since I last wrote one of these posts. In fact, I normally post pro watch for the spring season in early February – yet here we are. Why? Well, Derek is taking a season off to star at Radio City (looks so happy he may never come back), Cheryl appears to have retired from DWTS and is moving on to a different (reality-based?) show, and Val and Sharna are both blabbing about the next season. And as of last night, Karina is OUT. Hell, I had this post scheduled for tomorrow and here I am posting it today – ya’ll gotta have somewhere to be sad about Karina. (ETA: Vogue was at last night’s show and came away with different and new info re: Karina. Stay tuned.)

In Sharna’s case, I think her hint means she’s definitely IN – after last season I don’t think she would be coy if there were any doubt. And if there is doubt? Bad move, girl. As for Val – I don’t think there’s any way in hell he won’t be on, with Maks and Derek gone and Mark making noise. No way. And he’s saying yes, he is back. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing With The Stars Halloween Party on Good Morning America (Video)

Today there was a super sized Halloween Party on Good Morning America. The Good Morning America cast were dressed up for the holiday. They were also partnered with some of the pros of Dancing With The Stars, they danced, and had a competition amongst themselves. Some of the pros were also seen in a special dance selection committee. Hilarious!! You can read a blog from ABC on it here. Below is some coverage from @IdolXfactor1 as well.

ETA: See the Daily Mail for some pics and coverage too.

ETA2: GMA posted more video coverage. You can watch it all go down here.

Keoikantse Motsepe Honored To Be On Dancing With The Stars (New Interview)

Someone different, competing their first time, why not? A different color. Anything’s possible in life,” he says. “You just have to believe and have faith and hope. That’s what I tell Lolo every day.” ~Keoikantse Motsepe

What a wonderful piece at the New York Post on Keoikantse Motsepe. He talks about Dancing With The Stars and how honored he is to be doing the show. He also chats about Julianne Hough and his partner Lolo Jones!!

“Me being the first black, non-white dancer in the show, obviously there’s something special about me, there’s something the producers saw,” Motsepe tells The Post. “I’m very honored and feel very blessed about that. For me it’s about making history in my life and making history in the world.”

Motsepe, an avid fan of “Dancing,” says he was only partially surprised it’s taken so long for an African-American professional dancer to be cast in a show that has often had African-American celebrities as competitors.

“The other day I was in tech [rehearsal] and a guy goes to me, ‘Wait, are you doing ‘Dancing With the Stars?’ He said … ‘Now I’m going to start watching.’ If one non-white person can think like that, the word-of mouth is the biggest tool in the world.”

Motsepe has had to adjust to the challenges of dancing on TV — having to think about costumes, lighting and camera angles instead of just fancy footwork. But he says Jones has brought her athlete’s work ethic to early practices.

“This competition is very healthy and very strong,” he says. “We just want to have fun for the first day and see how this goes. Everyone has something different about them — there are people who have rhythm, people who are fast, people who have funny ideas or sexy ideas.”

This season also brings the return of former pro Julianne Hough, who will be a judge on the show. Motsepe knows her from the ballroom dance circuit and expects she will be a fresh addition to the panel. “Julianne being in the show is going to add a little bit of spark, which is good,” he says. Motsepe also hopes he can follow in the footsteps of Hough, who claimed the “Dancing” trophy in her first season as a pro.

“Someone different, competing their first time, why not? A different color. Anything’s possible in life,” he says. “You just have to believe and have faith and hope. That’s what I tell Lolo every day.”

DWTS Season 19: Who Are Pro Dancers Keoikantse Motsepe And Allison Holker?

Most of you might know Allison Holker. She is most famous for her work on “So You Think You Can Dance”. She was a dance contestant in Season 2 and an all-star in Seasons 7 through 11. She started her dance training at only 4 years of age at “The Dance Club” studio in Orem, Utah (the same city where Derek began his dance and ballroom training). She began teaching at the same studio when she was 16. In other accomplishments, she’s performed with Earth, Wind, and Fire at the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2002 Olympic Games in 2002. She also starred in ‘High School Musical’ and ‘High School Musical 2’. Last year, she was nominated for “Outstanding Choreography” in the 2013 Emmy Awards (Heidi’s Note: She was nominated WITH Derek). You might remember the dances below when she danced on Dancing With The Stars in the past and the 2013 Emmy Awards last year. More on Allison at Wikipedia.

As for Keoikantse Motsepe, he was an undefeated South African Latin American Champion in every age category for 8 years. His formal dance training includes Latin American, Ballroom, and Contemporary. He has also performed on South African Idol and in the highly acclaimed dance show “Burn The Floor”. You can read more on Keoikantse at Afridiziak. Videos below. Fascinating and good luck to Read more..
