DWTS13 End-of-Season Award Winners – What Was the Biggest Controversy?

Other responses (lots of paraphrasing here…and some in-line commentary):

Hope being rude about getting three 7’s in the semifinals – 1 (One of the dangers of overscoring: bad dancers expecting good scores all the time…)

The Kadrashian’s voting tweets/Kim tweeting Rob’s voting # as Justin Bieber’s – 2 (Kadrashian, Kardashian, Cardassian, Klingon…whatevs)

Awful scoring by the judges – 1 (In other news, fire is hot & water is wet…)

Maks, “This is MY show!” – 1 (Ehhh…I think this kind of falls under the same category as “Maks fighting with the judges”)

Anything to do with Hope – 1 (Lemme guess: Maks was the innocent bystander?)

Carrie Ann telling Maks not to smile – 1 (Again – this is kinda the same thing as “Maks fighting with the judges”)

Carrie Ann being an awful judge – 1 (Again, nothing new – but it ain’t just Carrie Ann…)

Kym’s comments – 1 (???…Are you talking about her calling Roethlisburger a DB? Cause that was just funny…;-))

The continued presence of Maks’ evil clone (bring back the Maks that danced w/Kirstie) – 1 (Preaching to the choir…)

Both/all of Maks’ controversies – 2 (I’m thinking I should have just put “Maks” as one of the responses…)

The continued inability for Brooke to do her job – 1 (Not so much a controversy as a source of comedy…)

Derek & Maks rivalry – 1 (Seemed like more of a one-sided thing to me…)

Rob, who still cannot dance, coming in 2nd – 1 (Lemme guess: Ricki fan?)

Courtney:  The biggest controversy category is always a bit amusing (and simultaneously, a bit of a headache) for me, as it tends to reveal a bit of the rivalry between certain fanbases – and also seems to invite a TON of write-in responses, as some people want to hone-in on one very specific aspect of one of the previously listed options.  And somehow, Maks’ name always seems to come up.  *sigh* I’m honestly a little surprised that there weren’t more votes for “Maks vs. Hope”, because the “shove heard ’round the world” seem to really strike a nerve with people – and boy, were lines drawn! I guess I’ve come to expect the perennial “Maks vs. the judges” controversy; and in retrospect, after watching some older episodes of the show, I’m starting to wonder if some people were a little hypersensitive about the Chaz issue, as I’ve noticed that Bruno has always tended to use animal analogies to describe some contestants’ dancing…not saying that Bruno was right, but I’m wondering if those comments would have evoked the same response had they been directed at another contestant…say, Rob or Chynna.  Definitely not the most sensitive choice of words on Bruno’s part, but I don’t think they were as fat-phobic/insulting/condescending as some were some were making them out to be.  Bottom line: Bruno’s an idiot, but I don’t think he’s a cruel idiot…unless you name is Hope.  But that’s another story 😉 The Kardashians started out strong as the antagonizers, but as the season wore on (and Rob actually started doing well, and stopped running his mouth to the press), the hype kind of died down.  Hehe…”Nancy’s nudism” was actually a half-joking nomination on my part, as I think I wanted to have 6 responses.  So for those 19 of you that voted for it, I have to ask: were you really that perturbed about catching a peek of Nancy’s nipple or underwear, or at the prospect of her *gasp* passing gas on live tv? Cause I certainly didn’t lose any sleep over it 😉 As for the write-ins…I find that the majority of the responses kind of fell under some of the nominees we had already, although some of the nominations make me curious about the demographics of those doing the nominating…but I’ll just leave it at that 😉

Heidi: I didn’t think Maks yelling at the judges was that big a thing. So what? At the end of the day he’s comes off looking like an unprofessional jerk and it’s not the first time.  Anyone following my private twitter account even saw where I was agreeing with him…up until the point that he just wouldn’t STFU.  He couldn’t stop with just having his say out on the floor, he carried it upstairs, then he carried it to the media like a petulant child. For me it was the Hope versus Maks thing – that was very painful to watch. He went way too far this time.  It was just disgraceful.

Vogue: I voted for the “Maks vs Hope” on this one. The “shove” to this day haunts me. As most of you know, I’m a big Maks fan and I was never more disappointed him as I was in all my time watching him dance. On one hand I understood how Hope was bringing out the worst in him and vice versa. She was in no way innocent…and yet, no one deserves to be physically abused. No, it wasn’t full out physical abuse, but, it was still a shove/yank, or whatever you want to call it. Do I still love Maks and am I fan? Yes, because none of us are perfect, he’s acknowledged the incident, being wrong, and he’s a constant work in progress….and, in the end, aren’t we all? His comments to the judges were over the top too at times, but, sometimes I think they are necessary to keep them more balanced and to cool it. So, I can’t fault him all the way on that one. IE: Bruno’s over the top nasty comments to Chaz.

Family and Cheryl Burke Speak About Rob Kardashian’s Transformation On Dancing With The Stars (Videos)

Celebuzz talked with Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian to promote their new novel “Dollhouse”. While doing so, they asked them about Rob’s dancing and making it to the finals on Dancing With The Stars. Below is what they had to say about it. It sounds like he has surprised them as much as he has us.

LS: Well as you know all of us at HarperCollins send her our best. And we’re all very much cheering for your brother Rob.

Kourt: It’s so exciting. Like watching him last night, how the judges picked him to do the dance because they wanted to see his dance—it’s so cool, I’m so excited for next week.

Khloe: I literally cried when they said he was safe. I was like, I’m so lame, all alone in my hotel room, crying by myself, but it’s just so cool to see the growth from week one to whatever week it is now. None of us thought he would last this long—just because he has no dance background; he’s the youngest on the show… He’s definitely confident with us, in the privacy of our own home, but I can see how much more confident he is now. And I’ve loved seeing that transformation.

LS: He never danced as a little kid, around your house?

Kourt: No, never. Like Khloe said they used to do the running man together.

Khloe: Like, play-dancing. But we don’t even do that right. So this is amazing to see.

LS: Well we’re very excited and we hope that he takes it all!

KK: Thank you!

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

The Kardashian Sisters Defend Brother, Outraged On Dancing With The Stars Results

Apparently, the three Kardashian sisters took to twitter defending their brother, Rob, and were outraged of the results on Dancing With The Stars. They couldn’t understand why Rob was in the bottom three and even insinuated the show is “rigged”. They also couldn’t understand how Elisabetta was safe. Below are some takes from US Magazine….

“There is NO way Rob Kardashian was trending worldwide last night and in the bottom 3. Impossible!” Kourtney, 32, tweeted indignantly. “HOW IS ELISABETTA SAFE?!??! HOW?! Seriously!!!” Khloe, 27, agreed with her sister’s enraged tweet, adding, “So odd.”

Rob’s sister Khloe, 27, was outraged her baby brother wasn’t guaranteed to make it to the next round. When one fan asked Khloe: “Shouldn’t [Elisabetta] be in the bottom 3, [not Rob]?” she replied bluntly: “Shows are rigged all the time.”

“This just can’t be!” Kim, 30, tweeted. “Rob in the bottom three is impossible! He did soooo good!”

“Honestly, I didn’t think any one of those people should have been in the bottom three,” Khloe added. “I just can’t handle this stuff. I’m so stressed out!”

My thoughts? Please!! Just make the Kardashians go away!! lol I’m sorry,…but in my opinion, Rob was not all that? 😯

Heidi’s Note: Ya know, I understand sisterly support and all…but crack is WACK. Just sayin’. 🙂 Rob was NOT that good and all you :::cough::: ladies are doing is proving for the world that you are tacky. It’s one thing for a variety of blogs to critique the dancers – we do it all the time. But we don’t have a brother in the competition actually, you know, competing. :::rolls eyes::: Say the show is rigged all you want, but throwing Elisabetta under the bus like that? TACKY.

Oh, and Khloe? Someone goes home every week – just who did you expect to be in the bottom three (that wasn’t a bottom 3)?

P.S. Osama Bin Laden trended worldwide in his day – it’s not necessarily a GOOD thing. Just sayin’.

DWTS13 Preliminary Power Rankings, Part I

It’s time once again for me to dust off my crystal ball and attempt (often in vain) to predict who the winners & losers of the season will be 🙂 Most of you are probably familiar with the power rankings, but if you aren’t, here’s a quick run-down: I do a power ranking after each performance show that ranks the couples from most likely to stay to most likely to go home – it’s essentially a prediction of who’s going home and who’s got staying power.  And kids, please – keep in mind that it’s not based solely on scores, or popularity, or running order, etc. It’s a complex formula of many factors – fanbase, dance ability, entertainment value, choreography, scores, yadda yadda yadda.  And before the season starts, I like to do a “preliminary” ranking – a prediction that just takes into account what we know about the couples right now, without ever having seen them dance live (rehearsal videos don’t count – those can differ drastically from the final product!).  Make sense? Keep in mind that this is just my opinion – differing ones are welcome and great to discuss, and there are no right or wrong answers 😉 So let’s start with places 12 through 7 – the couples that I don’t see lasting past the midpoint of the season.

12.) Ron Artest & Peta Murgatroyd – I really want Peta to stick around for at least a few weeks this season to show us what she can do, but unfortunately, I’ve got a lot of reservations about Ron…and it kinda stinks that Peta’s so new that her fanbase is likely not going to be able to compensate for a lack of support on Ron’s behalf.   First of all, the physical problem: Ron’s 6’7″ and Peta’s 5’7″, so even with heels on, Peta’s gonna have quite a bit of height to make up for.  It’s not impossible (ask Cheryl, who at 5’4″ partnered 6’7″ Rick Fox somewhat effectively in season 11), but it’s not necessarily easy or visually-pleasing, either.  Ron’s an athlete, so that might help a bit – but not all of the athletes that have done the show have been natural movers (Clyde Drexler comes to mind).  Now the greyer area: Ron’s never been one to hold his tongue, and he’s infamous for rather erratic behavior.  He’s come a long way since the infamous Pacers/Pistons brawl, but he’s still kinda wacky…and I’m honestly not sure whether that’s a boon or a burden when it comes to fanbase.  He’s well-known, but I’m interested to see how many people he’s turned off with his antics.  Another potential problem: from the few videos I’ve seen of he & Peta so far, I’m not picking up a lot of chemistry. I get this feeling this could be a rather awkward pair to watch interact.  On top of that, I’ve been hearing murmurings that Ron has been showing up considerably late for practice, and has only wanted to practice for an hour or so at a time. A lack of commitment this early in the season? Sounds like a harbinger of doom to me.  I really want Peta to stick around, and I’m hoping Ron proves me wrong…but I’m just not optimistic. Read more..

Ron Artest Talks Of Dancing With The Stars And More On Jimmy Kimmel Live

Ron Artest was one of Jimmy Kimmel’s guest last night on his show. Jimmy asks Ron if he’s a good dancer and Ron says, “I’m very classy….and a pinch of salt type of guy.” Khloe Kardashian sits in on the conversation and they talk(joke!) of how Ron has been taking Rob out to party and strip clubs. Khloe questions if he is a bad influence. Jimmy asks on the NBA lockout. If everything gets settled, he plans to play and dance on the show at the same time. He also plans to bring Peta to the basketball court to play. Fun interview! Check it out.

Below is a video of Ron goofing around with the paparazzi. He also has a semi-serious moment when he tells them to watch the camera on Peta.

I just love this new pic of he and Peta. I love her wicked taste in shoes!
