We haven’t been posting much on Kym Johnson since she’s not dancing on the show this season, but, she’s done DWTS All Access this season a couple of times so far and she’s still very much out there. Below are some recent new interviews where she talks on Robert Herjavec (they are so cute!), her new Fitness DVD, and more.
People caught up with Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson at The Brent Shapiro Foundation 10th Anniversary Summer Spectacular this weekend. They are so happy. They talked on their romance. Kym also talked on Dancing With The Stars and who are her favorites this season. Here is a take, but, be sure to see the link for more.
So what’s the key to their romance? The old saying here is true: The way to Herjavec’s heart is apparently through his stomach.
His favorite date night? “Definitely Kym cooking at home,” he said.
“I’m not the best cook,” Johnson said, laughing. “But we eat out a lot, so I’m experimenting with making healthy foods. We like to hang out on the couch and watch a movie.”
Soon though, the duo will be watching the new season of DWTS – and Johnson already has her favorite picked.
“Bindi is my favorite. I’m going to be backing her. Us Aussies stick together,” she said.
Then, with a whisper, she added: “I’m interested in seeing Gary Busey, too.”
As you know, Kym Johnson is currently judging the Australian version of Dancing With The Stars. According to the Herald Sun, Kym might not be able to dance in the US version of Dancing With The Stars since the grand final date for Dancing With The Stars Australia is “poised to clash” with the premiere of our version of Dancing With The Stars. Below is more on this issue….
A Seven spokeswoman confirmed the potential problem, with this year’s DWTS Australia grand final reportedly slated for September 13 — just as the US program gets dancing again.
But with some clever juggling and frequent flyer miles, Johnson could potentially do both — rehearsing routines here with any new partner, who would have to fly to Australia for the final two weeks of the local show; before they would both then be required to fly back to Los Angeles the morning after the Seven series signs off.
“If we find ourselves in this dilemma, there’s always a way to work things out. And we would because Kym’s part of the (Channel 7) family,” the publicist said.
It’s not unprecedented for a celebrity dancer to fly-in, fly-out for the US show, with Emmy-nominated choreographer Derek Hough jetting between LA and his starring role on Broadway in Radio City’s Spring Spectacular earlier this year.
More at the Herald Sun.
So, what do you think? Will Kym be able to handle such a feat? I think it would be really hard. I wouldn’t be surprised if she skips our version this time.
Kym Johnson, Carson Kressley, Tony Dovolani, Florence Henderson To Set Sail Together In Holland America Cruise
Heads up for those interested in going on a cruise with Holland America in January. Dancing With The Stars Kym Johnson and Tony Dovolani will be joining in on the fun as well as former Dancing With The Stars contestants Florence Henderson and Carson Kressley. Below is more from USA Today. If interested in ticket information, see Holland America.
The dancing celebs will appear on a Caribbean Champions Cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam, departing Ft. Lauderdale Jan. 10, 2016, and on a Jan. 3, 2016, theme cruise the week prior.
Along with performances, additional events include lessons with the ship’s professional dancers; a fashion show featuring flashy costumes from the TV show; and a chance to meet the stars, ask questions and take photos with them.
Here we are again!! It’s about that time of year, folks.
And, as usual, the pros that I don’t want to be in, are already in. Or in Derek’s case….mostly in. He’s been telling fans in Meet and Greets that he’s likely going to be on but doesn’t want to confirm in case something happens to change that. DWTSGossip says that he did indeed say yes to this season – but as she correctly pointed out, he’s said no before and it turned into a yes. But, this is Derek’s life right now (many, MANY irons in the fire) – he’s not doing it for PR, he just doesn’t know what’s going to happen. Drives me crazy. I’ll be writing a blog soon on PureDerekHough.com about my Meet and Greet and how he answered a particular question I asked him that bodes very well for his future.
Val has also said he’ll be back and, as reigning champ, that’s no surprise. He also doesn’t seem to have the options that Derek does. I also will be curious to see how much they pimp and manipulate for him and his partner, now that he actually has a MBT. This could be one of the more interesting things about this season – if their behavior toward him changes, now that it’s mission accomplished. Someone please explain to me why Sharna or Emma don’t get the pimpage treatment?? Their social media accounts can’t touch the men’s, but still.
What about Mark? I expect him back as it helps his music career, and now his studio, for him to be on the show. I think it’s about time for him to have another shot at the MBT again – it’s not like he’s been handed ringers the past couple seasons (unlike some), he’s just been surprised and fortunate, like Derek has in the past. But I haven’t seen any talk from him on the matter. Read more..
This is a little dated (and I can’t remember if we posted this), but, it’s fun to watch in case you missed it. #DWTSOffSeasonFun Thanks to Lois for the find.
Sounds like we’re going to get a whole bunch of contemporary, whether we like it or not. I say not, for the most part. It’s so over done now. Geez, I’m not old enough to be whining about the Good ole days, but that’s what I feel like doing. Remember Derek and Jennifer’s freestyle – simple dance, but so nostalgic and tailored perfectly for Jennifer. Half the internet screamed “She carried a watermelon!!” What about Hines Ward? Love it or hate it, that Freestyle was different. As was Amber Riley’s. I could go on, but what’s the point?
Thing is, when you do contemporary, you’re now working against a very strong couple of dances from Derek and his partners. Unless you really go out there, you run the risk of being very derivative. Although that’s not really new for one of our couples. 😉 Anyway, I still have high hopes for Noah and Sharna – theirs looks like it has potential. The rest? Jury is definitely out.
I got this info from the press release via @DWTSGossip. Could have gotten it myself but I can’t find the damn password to the ABC site and the lovely Vogue is taking care of some personal stuff.
In the two-hour Season Finale on TUESDAY, MAY 19 (9:00-11:00 p.m. ET), the show kicks off with a high-energy opening number featuring a reunion of all 12 of this season’s couples in addition to the judges and hosts. Then, one couple will perform an encore of their Freestyle dance as decided on by the judges. The finale will also feature a performance to “Juicy Wiggle,” by RedFoo and encore performances by Charlotte McKinney and Keo Motsepe to “California Girls,” Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani to “Copacabana” featuring six additional dancers, Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson to “Bills,” Chris Soules and Witney Carson to “Footloose,” Willow Shields and Mark Ballas to “Alice’s Theme,” Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough’s Charleston to “Honey, I’m Good” featuring a performance by Andy Grammar and much more. The night will also include a reprise performance from Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvintsev to “In Da Club,” and the Grammy award winning artist will also perform her hit song “2 Steps Away.” Additionally, fan favorites from past seasons Amy Purdy, Alfonso Ribeiro and Sadie Robertson return to the ballroom for special performances.
