DWTS2012 Karina Smirnoff Dazzles At Pre-Billboard Music Awards Party In Las Vegas

Doesn’t Karina look pretty? I love her hair long and dark with the way she’s been wearing it lately. Last night, she held a Pre-Billboard Music Awards Party at Tabú in Las Vegas. Carson Kressley showed up for the festivities in fine form too. You can read all about Karina, the party, the guests, and see more pictures at Haute Living.

Court’s DWTS Las Vegas Adventure (Live Show Review & Other Miscellanery)

As many of you know, I was in Las Vegas last weekend and had the pleasure of seeing the DWTS live show at the Tropicana – which, of course, I will review for you guys, since certain other individuals *cough*JOHN*cough* haven’t managed to write the 2nd half of their review of the premiere of said show 😉 This post could get a bit wordy, as I took quite a few notes (and just have a really good memory, to boot) and I’ll throw in a few other possibly-unrelated-to-DWTS details for context, as well as some general Vegas info, since some of you have asked about my trip – so if you’re only interested in my review of the show, feel free to skip the next few paragraphs.  And if you hate spoilers (i.e. you want to be COMPLETELY surprised when you see the show), I’d either just skip this post altogether or just read my overall take at the bottom – because I’m not holding back.  You’ve been warned 😉 And special thanks go to Heidi, for helpin’ a girl out with some picture merges that were driving me cray-cray 😛

So why was I in Vegas in the first place, you ask? My best friend Kendra is getting married at the end of July, and she wanted a bachelorette party for the ages – so naturally, we HAD to go Vegas 🙂 There were 12 of us altogether (11 rowdy bachelorettes and 1 gay bachelor, who I must say put us all to shame with how fabulously he was dressed the entire trip ;-)), and the majority of us stayed at the Flamingo, since we were able to get a great rate on standard rooms – with 4 girls to a room, it was only $82 total for each of us for 3 nights, which is pretty awesome for a well-known hotel on the strip that isn’t a total dive.  Overall, I wouldn’t say the Flamingo is a particularly special or ritzy hotel (if that’s what you’re looking for, I’d go with the Bellagio, Palazzo, or Venetian…but be prepared to shell out big $$$), but if you’re on a budget, it’s certainly more than sufficient – the rooms are clean and the decor is kitchy & cute (think 1960’s, Rat Pack, original Ocean’s Eleven – lots of dots, stripes, retro furniture, and of course, pink :-)).  I’m very into the nostalgia of Vegas, so the Flamingo appealed to me in that it was originally built by infamous mobster Bugsy Siegel, and legend has it that the actual motive behind his murder was to change the management of the Flamingo.  But anyway – if you’re in Vegas, I definitely recommend trying their Paradise Garden Buffet – it’s pretty affordable, as far as buffets in Vegas go, and is quite good…especially the brunch buffet.  Plus the views of their courtyard and flock of live flamingoes are gorgeous 🙂 Also at the Flamingo? Donny & Marie Osmond’s live show – I didn’t see it (no time, and honestly, not much of a desire), but I did see these in the lobby:

The one on the left is Donny’s costume from his freestyle with Kym in season 9, as well as his MBT (and yes, according to the guest services director that I asked, it is his real MBT – apparently he insisted it be put in the case with his costume); the one on the right is Marie’s dress from her quickstep with Jonathan in season 5 (and one of those freaky dolls she designs – guess they had to put SOMETHING there when they found out that Donny wanted to display his MBT, although I’m not sure why they didn’t display this doll instead).  I found Marie’s costume pretty unremarkable up close – for as fabulous as it looked on the show, upon further scrutiny, it’s really just a tan silk gown with some gems glued on; but Donny’s suit is very well-made and clearly took a lot of work.  Interesting how different the costumes look on tv vs. in person (more on that later). “Dancing With the Stars Live” At The Tropicana In Las Vegas Gets Green Light

A couple of months ago, we reported how there were plans are to bring a live version of Dancing With the Stars to the Tropicana in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to Robin Leach of Las Vegas Weekly, the idea was cancelled and now it’s getting the “green light” again.

The new Las Vegas dance show will supposedly feature a combination of dance professionals and Hollywood stars who have won and also who have come up short in their attempts to win the mirror-ball trophy.

One of the rumored contenders to dance is Dancing With The Stars Season 9 champ Donny Osmond.

The audience members at the Tropicana will also be invited to participate in an “interactive challenge” during the shows.

You can read more details in our previous posting as well as in a new article at the Las Vegas Weekly which talks about a male pro from Dancing With The Stars helping to choreograph the show and stage in the past planning stages. Who do you think that might be? Louis?

Personal note: I really hope this comes true. I’m planning a trip to Vegas in the Fall and I would love to see this show if it were to happen!! How about you?

DWTS14 Hmmm?: Lacey Schwimmer Strikes Dance Pose With Perez Hilton

*one eye up* Pictured in a dance pose above is Dancing With The Stars’ Lacey Schwimmer with tabloid reporter Perez Hilton. Lacey attended his “Rock The Vote” Broken Heart Ball Saturday night in Las Vegas. You can read more on the party and see more pictures at Haute Living.

Note too that Perez has campaigned to be on Dancing With The Stars at his twitter in the past and recently in a new Dancing With The Stars “potential” cast column. Could this only be the beginning for these two? Ok, let’s pretend I didn’t say that. 😯 😉

Heidi’s Note: He wishes. I hope not, seeing as how he’s even less a celebrity than, say, Elisabetta Canalis. Next they’ll be casting Henry the Paparazzi.

DWTS Pro Cheryl Burke Hosts The TAO A Go Go Contest At TAO Nightclub (Photos)

Last night, Cheryl Burke hosted the TAO A Go Go contest at TAO Nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada. Above is a picture arriving to the even taken by PacificCoastNews.com. Doesn’t she look stunning in this bronze number (such a popular fashion color currently)? I love her long hair too which I hope she never cuts short again. What do you think? You can view more beautiful photos of Cheryl at Zimbio. Image Collect has some as well.

ADDING: Speaking of Cheryl, don’t miss her on Good Morning America on Monday morning, Feb. 6th. According to ABC Media, she will talk about her book, “Dancing Lessons: How I found Passion and Potential on the Dance Floor”. I bet they will ask her on Dancing With The Stars. So, be sure to turn in!!

Rob Kardashian Dishes On Dancing With The Stars & To Host New Years Eve Party

Rob Kardashian will be hosting his own New Year’s Eve Party in Las Vegas for those living in the area (John? 🙂 ) at the Tyrst Night Club. Leading up to the event, the Las Vegas Sun interviewed him. Did you know Rob knew Cheryl before he danced on the show? He talks of it below as well as his journey for when the competitive side of himself started kicking in….

The Kats Report: In watching you dance on the show, it seems you got along particularly well with Cheryl Burke.
Rob Kardashian: Oh, yeah. I knew her from before. I had some friends who have done the show, so it wasn’t at all an awkward experience. It was really very comfortable, and, for me, that’s everything, to feel comfortable in what I’m doing in front of so many people. She’s a great girl.

TKR: Had you watched the show very much before you were asked to be on it?
RK: No. Never.

TKR: What were your expectations when you started considering taking part?
RK: I just really didn’t care (laughs), that was my whole thing, just to have fun with everything, and I did, because it is a show, and it’s a fun performance. But at the end of the day, it also is a competition. I started to take it seriously, but mostly I just wanted to have fun with everything.

TKR: At what point did your competitive nature kick in?
RK: I started to begin to realize that I actually can do this as the weeks moved forward, like maybe by Week 5 or Week 6, when I did my tango. That’s when I actually realized that I could actually do this, and that’s when the competitive nature kicked in … the tango is tough, but I really enjoyed it.

TKR: Were you genuinely disappointed not to have won the championship.
RK: I feel I went as far as I could have gone. I would have loved to have won, obviously, but J.R. definitely deserved it. I did the best I could do and ended with a perfect score, when coming into it I never would have imagined myself even making it to the finals.

Great interview! Lots more including his New Years Eve resolutions at the Las Vegas Sun.

DWTS Brooke Burke-Charvet To Co-Host Miss America And Releasing Two New Fitness DVDs

Transforming soon on Las Vegas will be the most lovely women in America to compete for the title of “Miss America”. As we reported to you earlier, Mark Ballas is set to judge. Today it was announced that Dancing With The Stars Brooke Burke will help co-host the event. Not only that, she is to release two new fitness DVDs. Here is more from Haute Living. You can read more on the show at the link. There is also a stunning photo to see of her.

Today, the Miss America Organization announced Brooke Burke-Charvet as the returning co-host for the 2012 Miss America Pageant. Brooke is the co-host of ABC’s hit show “Dancing with the Stars” in March, having earned the coveted mirror ball trophy as season seven’s champion with her professional dance partner, Derek Hough.

Dancing With The Stars Show Coming To Tropicana In Las Vegas?

According to the Las Vegas Sun, plans are in the mix to bring a live version of Dancing With the Stars to the Tropicana in Las Vegas. The new version is set to feature dance pros and stars who have won the show on TV in the past. Below are some details….

Just as Vegas DeLuxe had the exclusives on Motley Crue’s new mini residency at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel and our recent interview with Wynn headliner Garth Brooks, we can tip that the new dance-show run will feature a combination of dance professionals and Hollywood stars who have won — including Flamingo headliner Donny Osmond in Season 9 — and come up short in their attempts for the mirror-ball trophy.

To be clear, I’m not saying that Donny is signed on for this! The yet-to-be-determined cast will rotate during the run so that it doesn’t interfere with the new Season 14 rehearsals beginning in March. I’m also told that audience members at the Tropicana will be invited to participate in an interactive challenge during the shows — if they’ve got some skills and the chops to cha-cha onstage.

To read the full story, go here. Note how the link says this is “more than just rumor.” Wow, wouldn’t this be cool?? I hope this comes true!!
