DWTS 21: People Confirms Peta Murgatroyd “Out For the Season”

Damn…this was one partnership I was really looking forward to :-( According to People, Peta has indeed decided to sit this season out after finding out she will require surgery on her ankle that will “sideline her for 6-8 weeks”:

Having just come off a three-month, live DWTS tour, Murgatroyd “felt great” heading into rehearsals with her season 21 partner, Andy Grammer. But one day, after putting on her heels, she says she could tell “something was not right.”

“I wanted to check it out properly and make sure I was good to go for the season,” says the pro dancer, 29. “I Got my MRI results back and it was a really bad diagnosis. It showed I had 4 torn ligaments and a floating piece of bone at the back of my ankle. My doctor said I needed surgery and I knew I needed to put my health first if I want to keep dancing on the show into my 30s.”

I gotta applaud Peta for having the strength to say “I need to rest” – I’ve known too many dancers that have tried to soldier through some injuries, only to end up even more injured…and a few times, with their dance careers ended as a result.

As we mentioned in the main cast reveal post, DWTS360 says that Lindsay will step in to replace Peta as Andy’s partner this season; but Peta assures People that she “will be in the rehearsal studio as much as possible to assist” this season. Here’s wishing Peta a speedy recovery, and good luck to Andy and Lindsay this season! :-)

ETA: Vogue here. Below is a twitter statement from Peta. Awww, I love her. Peta, I just know you will be back to us stronger than ever soon! Lot’s of love and hugs! Get Well Soon!!!

The past three days have been really tough to say the least..I learned that my ankle injury is at a stage that needs surgery immediately. I’m so sorry but I have to step out of Season 21 of DWTS. This is obviously one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever made and I seriously struggled with the idea of not being able to dance, but I know my health does come first, and the sooner I get this done, the sooner I can be back in the ballroom for all of you! 6-8 weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things and I hope to be back before the season ends, doing group numbers and of course cheering on Andy and my friends in audience. It killed me to let someone else take care of Andy, who is such a genuine loving guy. But I know he will be in good hands. I will miss the show so much but just know that I will come better back than ever, and with a brand new ankle :) Thank you for all the love today, I loved reading all of your supportive tweets, even though I couldn’t say anything until now. I will also keep you all up to date on my progress and of course you will see some silly ‘before and after’ surgery pictures 😉 Lastly, I love you all and thank you for always being so positive for me. Peta will return in no time at all 💋💋💋💋

DWTS Lindsay Arnold Celebrates CustomInk’s 15th Anniversary – HQ Photos

We’ve been sent some beautiful images of Dancing With The Stars Lindsay Arnold visiting Waller High School in Waller, Texas last week. See below as well as a brief summary on the event by CustomInk.

On Thursday, August 14th, CustomInk kicked off its 15th anniversary campaign in Waller, TX by partnering with “Dancing with the Stars” pro and “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant, Lindsay Arnold to surprise the Waller High School’s dance team, one of the brand’s top customers.

“When CustomInk came to me and told me about their 15th anniversary and said they wanted me to come and teach a class for the Waller High School dance team, I was excited. I was a dancer all throughout high school, so I think it’s an amazing way for them to give back to their customers. It’s an awesome thing to be a part of,” says Lindsay Arnold.

While visiting Waller High School, Lindsay surprised 12 senior dancers on the Waller Wranglerettes, and taught them one of the routines she choreographed for “Dancing with the Stars.”

CustomInk, the #1 online retailer for custom apparel and accessories wanted to do something different for its 15th anniversary so they selected a total of 15 customers to thank between now and the end of the year. CustomInk is giving back to its customers who have placed more than fifteen orders over the years with celebrity surprises and gifts.

PureDWTS Poll: Who is Your Favorite “One-And-Done” Pro?

They got one season to show us their stuff as a pro – and then we never saw them (as a pro) again.  They’re the pros whose tenure on DWTS was woefully short, and for some of them, we wonder if things had been different if they had gotten a different partner, or had a bit more experience, etc. etc. etc. But I keep seeing a few names in particular that seem to pop up in the comments section, and it got me thinking: is it time for TPTB to revisit some of these names as pros again? Let’s hear what you think – which one of these one-and-done pros was your favorite? And which one would you like to see as a pro again?

For me, it was a no-brainer: Sasha.  I think the dude’s only shortcoming (no pun intended) is that he’s simply too small in stature to be a suitable partner for the bulk of the female celebs that get cast.  After seeing how great of a substitute partner he was to Nastia last season, and how he does whatever is asked of him without complaint – I’m convinced that we could see AMAZING things out of Sasha as a pro, if they would only give him another shot.  I hear the Olsen twins are short…and not really up to much these days 😉

Oddly enough, the other pro I found myself curious about was Anna Demidova – I remember that she actually was quite good with Michael Irvin, and seemed to be a teacher that was very good at communicating with and motivating her partner.  Found myself thinking of Gleb, too – he may not have really shined terribly brightly with Lisa, but once he moved over to DWTS Russia I think he really hit a nice stride.  Would he be able to hang with our pros, though? Who knows…

How did you vote?

Dancing with the Stars Season 21 – PRO WATCH!!

Here we are again!! It’s about that time of year, folks.

And, as usual, the pros that I don’t want to be in, are already in. Or in Derek’s case….mostly in. :-)  He’s been telling fans in Meet and Greets that he’s likely going to be on but doesn’t want to confirm in case something happens to change that. DWTSGossip says that he did indeed say yes to this season – but as she correctly pointed out, he’s said no before and it turned into a yes. But, this is Derek’s life right now (many, MANY irons in the fire) – he’s not doing it for PR, he just doesn’t know what’s going to happen. Drives me crazy. :-)  I’ll be writing a blog soon on PureDerekHough.com about my Meet and Greet and how he answered a particular question I asked him that bodes very well for his future.

Val has also said he’ll be back and, as reigning champ, that’s no surprise. He also doesn’t seem to have the options that Derek does. I also will be curious to see how much they pimp and manipulate for him and his partner, now that he actually has a MBT. This could be one of the more interesting things about this season – if their behavior toward him changes, now that it’s mission accomplished. Someone please explain to me why Sharna or Emma don’t get the pimpage treatment?? Their social media accounts can’t touch the men’s, but still.

What about Mark? I expect him back as it helps his music career, and now his studio, for him to be on the show. I think it’s about time for him to have another shot at the MBT again – it’s not like he’s been handed ringers the past couple seasons (unlike some), he’s just been surprised and fortunate, like Derek has in the past. But I haven’t seen any talk from him on the matter. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing With The Stars Lindsay Arnold And Sam Cusick Honeymoon At Villa del Palmar In Loreto, Mexico – HQ Photos

As you know from a previous posting, Dancing With The Stars Lindsay Arnold married long time boyfriend Sam Cusick. Below are some new photos of them on their Honeymoon at the Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto in Loreto, Mexico. During their honeymoon, the couple enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking, and walking along the private bay of Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto. They also took in couples massages at the resort’s Sabila Spa and took a ride on the boat, Mad Dash, where they snorkeled around the islands and went fishing. Photos by Bertin Contreras. What a beautiful spot for a honeymoon or a vacation. If interested, be sure to stay at this resort.

PureDWTS Season 20, Week 8 – Power Rankings

Not a whole lot to lead-in with – apologize that these didn’t come last night (I try to have the power rankings up before going to bed on Mondays with a results show the following day), but I had a cake to make and my icing gun broke and I kinda lost all my will to live…momentarily :-) Then I slept and I was ok.  Definite judges’ agenda last night, and it seemed to be “make sure Rumer makes it to week 9 AT ALL COSTS, and kinda try to shield Nastia & Riker while you’re at it – the rest are expendable”.  Len has completely lost all credibility for me at this point – just seems like he’s following the directions being fed to him by TPTB each week, even if it means contradicting himself.  Random epiphany I had while watching Robert’s samba trio: how cool would it be to have a pro samba to George Michael’s “Freedom ’90” with the pros playing female & male models? 😉

Also, a point of clarification on Nastia’s “meltdown” in their package: per Deep Throat, that occurred at the end of an 8-hour rehearsal, and Nastia was already planning on heading home – so yeah, she didn’t “walk out of rehearsal in anger”, as some are trying to spin it. Also interesting to note: sometimes the staff filming the rehearsals are encouraged to ask kinda inflammatory questions in order to amp up the drama when the pros and celebs are feeling tired, anxious, stressed, etc – so the frustration you saw from Nastia was more than likely her getting irritated by a needling cameraman, rather than with Derek. Felt that this required clarification, since some of Derek’s detractors seem to be having a field day on Twitter over Nastia’s “outburst”. Hehe – I’ll show you a REAL outburst. Just goes to show that the narrative of the show has gotten so out-of-control that you can’t trust the rehearsal packages anymore. Read more..

Witney Carson Interviewed About Dancing With The Stars, Chris Soules, And The Team Dance

Afterbuzz TV interviewed Witney Carson last night at Star Magazine’s Hollywood Rocks Event. She’s having a much harder time teaching Chris Soules how to dance than she did Alfonso Ribeiro last season, but, they are having fun and they are still in the competition. She talks a little on their team dance for next week too. Lindsay Arnold is a part of this interview as well. Also, can you make out what the reporter and Witney said on a “leak”? I can’t understand the reporter?
