Awww, what a breath of fresh ‘summer time’ air these two are! Derek Hough helped Dancing With The Stars Season 14 partner Maria Menounos celebrate her birthday at a Party sponsored by Bud Light Lime ‘Lime-a-Rita’ at her home in Encino, California yesterday. This picture is from Zimbio, but, you view a batch more including more information for who attended at Pure Derek Hough. A MUST SEE!
While doing some charity work for Operation Smiles, Dancing With The Stars co-host Brooke Burke stops by the Grove to talk to Celebuzz. Brooke gives her thoughts for who she’d like to see come back for the new All-Star season. She’d like to see Sabrina Bryan, Maria Menounos, Jaleel (WHA?? Hush, Brooke!), William Levy, Stacy Keibler, and Warren Sapp to name a few. She says it’s going to be a great cast. More below….
Lesson Court learned from putting together these awards: perhaps the “other” option should be eliminated, starting with next season’s end-of-season awards I got an insane number of write-in responses for the “best dance” and “celeb you most want to see on the all-star season” categories, and let’s just say it was no easy task weeding through all of the write-ins I also learned that some people are too lazy (or inattentive) to click “read more” and vote in the other categories, and as a result we got almost double the number of votes for the “best dance” category than we did everything else. I love our readers, but sometimes they drive me a little bit bonkers

Courtney: Can’t say I’m too surprised at the results – the two that I predicted would do well ended up on top, and the rest got a small share of votes, likely from diehard fans of that particular couple. I do think the jive trio was the dance of the season – the fact that they took a dance that was hard to do with only 2 people and managed to create something fun, energetic, and proper with 3 people was beyond impressive to me. And the fact that they DIDN’T get a perfect 30 for it??? APPALLING. I seriously think people don’t realize how HARD it is to lead 2 women – and Donald’s the only one that took on that challenge in his trio dance, and he KILLED IT. I didn’t see Roshon or William trying to lead two ladies. Maria & Derek’s paso was good – for this season. I just can’t seem to get too excited about it, though, because it just wasn’t up-to-snuff with the paso choreography I’m used to seeing from Derek. As for all the other responses – I think they all were those couples’ best dances, but probably not the best dance of the season. Write-ins? It’s the usual smorgesbord of random dances, and I usually find myself shaking my head reading some of them, and saying “Really? You REALLY think that was the best dance?” But alas, different strokes for different folks. The only one I’m gonna comment on is Donald & Peta’s freestyle…and I guess Katherine & Mark’s, too. I always shy away from including those as options in the “best dance of the season” category, because it seems that, unless a couple REALLY picks a dud, it’s a dance that most couples do well with, and the scoring is pretty inflated – it almost seems like too much of a gimme. That said, I did really enjoy Donald’s freestyle – but I didn’t think the level of difficulty was as high as his jive trio was. And I thought Katherine showed better endurance in her jive than in ther freestyle.
Vogue: Court, you took the words out of my head this time. My favorite dance of the season (and the dance I thought was the best) was Donald and Peta’s Jive trio. Donald’s fast leg and footwork amazed me at the time. So much so, I screamed to my husband in the other room to come watch (and we had to replay it after the show several times …which I don’t ever remember doing with him as long as I’ve been watching this show). Our mouths literally dropped to the floor especially when Donald jumped over the top of both girls. A blow away for me as well was their Freestyle. I also loved their Paso Doble and Argentine Tango with the amusement ride twirl. Other stand out dances for me that I thought were the best were Derek and Maria’s Bollywood Trio dance and Paso Doble. Looking back now, I will remember Derek and Maria’s Bollywood Trio dance the most of their dances even though it probably wasn’t her best dance technically, but, it was different, so creative, theatrical, and entertaining. Another dance I have to give props too is also William and Cheryl’s Argentine Tango. I loved all the passion in that dance. William was so into his character and I loved his tails which is when he looked the sexiest in my opinion. Anyway, great poll and results!!
Heidi: Yeah, I agree with the top two – by a MILE. Say what you want about the “talent” this season, but Donald and Maria were the two most memorable. As for Derek’s choreography – I think that Maria was one of his least naturally talented partners EVER (she’s in a club with Joanna and Shannon and wouldn’t have gone as far with ANYONE else), yet his dances with her were just as memorable as anything anyone else did. That’s quite an accomplishment for both of them. He has a way of doing that. He was really challenged with her – she wasn’t naturally talented and she was pretty injured the whole time. Poor Derek though – he’s set his own bar too high. But the Bollywood Samba I also loved, and their rumba just because they were so into it. As for the write ins? Sad to say I don’t actually REMEMBER a lot of those dances. Most of Katherine’s dances have left my brain. Oddly, several of Willy’s I remember out of sheer disgust. Someone wrote in DaD?? All I remember is Chelsie almost getting blown off a table.

What a budding dancing career this cool talent has and if judging fans reaction is any indication for how he helped Derek Hough and Maria Menounos in their Bollywood Trio dance, I’m going to be surprised if troupe member Henry Byalikov isn’t a teaching Pro on Dancing With The Stars very soon and a popular and much loved one at that! Would you agree?
Also, and if you haven’t heard, Henry has a dancing role in one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2012, “The Great Gatsby“. Henry also was rehearsal partner to Carey Mulligan. Below is more from Henry’s Official site for how this role came to be….
Henry was hand-picked by Australia’s leading contemporary ballet choreographer Mr Graeme Murphy to perform as a principal dancer in his brand new Contemporary ballet company ‘Graeme Murphy’s Suite Synergy 2011. Henry’s impact in the production was immediately well received with such reviewer statements exclaiming me as a “Fiery Flamenco Star”, and distinguishing him from the rest owing to Henry’s extraordinary ability, “Henry’s Byalikov, whose powerful intensity of focus and dramatic use of footwork, upper torso and arms unfortunately showed up the inadequacies of the accompanying quartet of dancers in this style”.
After performing to thousands he then helped the choreographer, as a dancer, to create a routine for the lead roles in the workshop for the brand new musical King Kong. He was then engaged as an ensemble member in the musical workshop.
Following the success he had in the musical Workshop, the choreographer Mr John O’Connell chose Henry to feature in Baz Luhrmann’s ‘The Great Gatsby’. Henry was also a rehearsal partner to Carey Mulligan.
You can read more about Henry’s career here. Currently, “The Great Gatsby” has a December 25th release date. Below you can view the stunning trailer which features some of the cast dancing in several shots.
I’ll definitely be hitting the theatre to see this, will you? And wouldn’t it be cool if the producers of Dancing With The Stars featured Henry and the ballroom dancing in this movie on one of the results show to help promote it? A Dancing With The Stars fan can dream right?

Isn’t this a gorgeous take of Derek Hough and Maria Menounos at the Snakepit Ball in Indianapolis? The fun duo have been in town enjoying all the festivities connected with the Indy 500 this weekend. Our Miss H has lots more coverage of them at a parade and more. So, be sure to see Pure Derek Hough if you haven’t done so. Picture courtesy of Michael Hickey Photography.
Several of the pros and contestants of Dancing with the Stars Season 14 were seen at the Sayers nightclub after attending a finale show party in Hollywood. Above are pros Derek Hough and Karina Smirnoff. You can view more pics of them at Zimbio Pictures. Miss Heidi has some hot video coverage of them as well at Pure Derek Hough. Then last night, Karina was seen at the 12th Annual Lupus LA Orange Ball held at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Picture below courtesy also of Zimbio Pictures. She looks fantastic, doesn’t she?
Ok kids, it’s time once again to vote of our biannual “end-of-season” awards…our sort of “wrap up” for season 14, where we see what you guys think were the highs and lows of this season If you want to get a feel for how these awards work, you can check out previous seasons’ award recipients here.
First, the rules: I’ve picked what I deem to be the most likely candidates (with the strongest chance of winning) for each category – of course, some of you are going to disagree, and that’s fine. If you don’t see your pick listed as an option, you can write-in your own nomination in the “other” box. But here’s my biannual disclaimer about the dreaded “other” box: if I can’t read what you wrote because it’s badly misspelled/grammatically nonsensical/generally incoherent, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT. If your response to the question does not make sense (i.e. you simply vote “Donald” for best dance), YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT. If you simply repeat one of the already listed responses because you can’t be bothered to actually pay attention, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT. If you’re just generally being a nudnik and giving harassing responses, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT. *shakes head* I still can’t believe that I have to give this spiel twice a year…
…anywho, we’ll give you guys a week to get your votes in, and then we’ll reveal the results in a series of posts starting next week. Now ready…set…VOTE!!!Read more..

To help us introduce this post, above is a Dancing With The Stars finale poem written by PureDWTS reader Lois gearing us up for tonight. Perfect Lois!! Thanks!
Also, Cameron Matheson of Good Morning America goes into rehearsals to do the same. You can see them practicing on the Dance Floor. The couples give us some teasers (William says Donald will be taking off his pants, lol) as well as tell us why people should vote for them. This is fun…
Also, if you haven’t been following Sherri Shepherd at twitter, be sure you are as she has been tweeting some fun pictures of the cast rehearsing for this week’s finale dances. Below are just a few of them. Be sure to check out her twitter account here for more.
ADDING: TV Guide has a cool commentary up today of what to watch for in tonight’s dances on Dancing With The Stars. They also run through each couples strengths and what they need to work on. Below is what they wrote for Donald Driver. You can read more of what they wrote for Katherine and William at the link.
For Him : Charm, Packer Nation and sympathy. Despite a handful of strong and dynamic performances, the judges have been underscoring Driver. He also arguably deserved his long-desired perfect score of 30 two weeks ago for his jive trio, but Len Goodman continues to hold back the 10 paddle while over-scoring some other pairs. The underscoring has angered a lot of fans and has not gone unnoticed by the pros.
Needs to work on: Getting out of his own way. Driver’s so desperate for a 30 that he sometimes goes into overdrive (no pun intended) when he dances, which causes him to either slip up or tighten up. Forget about the triple 10s and just dance! If you perform it, they will come.
Why he might win: He’s a better dancer than both Katherine and William; he’s technically sharp and an electric crowd-pleaser. His own eight-pack also doesn’t hurt and neither does his massive Green Bay Packers fan base. Plus: The fact that he’s been a diehard Dancing fan since the first season — and is not doing this to shill something — is surely endearing to viewers. Football players have a great record on the show too, but while there have been many who have made it to the business end of the season, only two have won: Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward. Could Driver be the third?
Watch out for: His freestyle. We all know that’s the make-it-or-break-it dance, and the pressure will be on his partner Peta Murgatroyd, who’s untested in her first final in two seasons against two two-time winner pros, to deliver a routine worthy of Quickie’s talent.
ADDING #2: More rehearsal footage and interviews. This time from ET Online…
We’re back, after a couple week absence…and some of you will not be happy to see us. Them’s are breaks…the weeks we missed we’ll pick up as a bit of retrospective cheese once the season is over.
The Award for Biggest Lack of Commitment to Week 9 – The Costuming Department who really screwed Cheryl out of some fringe on her Samba Costume
Heidi: You might ask yourself, “Are ‘biggest’ and ‘lack’ really the two best words to put together?” but really that was what was going through my mind looking at her costume. Yo, dudes, either add the fringe or don’t – you kinda half assed it here, IMO. Yep, we’re picking nits.
Courtney: Everything about the show this week was so…blah. Most of the routines were ho-hum, nobody really said anything interesting, and even the costumes seemed like they were half-assed. It was as if the costume folks bailed and headed to the bar after only putting half the fringe on her costume. “Yeah, that’ll do. C’mon, we can make it for happy hour if we leave now!” Can’t blame them…even I’m bored with the show at this point.
Heidi: Perhaps you and I should win this award. It was pretty damn boring in retrospect.
The “Most Telling Obsession” Award: Mark Ballas and his fondness for fences
Heidi: Really, dude. You’ve put Katherine in two cages and Bristol in one…is this a comment on how your attitude toward women in general or these two women in particular? Or is it just a sexual kink all the way around? Considering your girlfriend, I’m going with BOTH.
Courtney: I’m sure Freud would have a heydey trying to make something of Mark’s fixation with cages. Who knows what his true motives are – maybe he wants people to think he’s tough, maybe it makes him feel like he’s in control, maybe he just really wants us to know that he’s very, very into MMA. I’m just kinda bored with it, to be quite honest. You know it’s bad when I was actually slightly amused when he put Katherine in a snake basket for their salsa…nice change of pace
Heidi: A cage is a cage even when it’s a basket.
What a fun episode with Derek and Maria on “LIVE With Kelly” yesterday. They danced a Jive and celebrated Derek’s birthday. If you missed it, you can view it below. Then be sure you head on over to Pure Derek Hough. Our Miss Heidi has more fun things from the episode to share, screen caps from GMA, Derek arriving back in L.A., Elara’s collages, and MORE! A great wake-up call for an early Friday morning. I must say!
