So I was talking to John last night – or should I say, lamenting – the complete paucity of blabber mouthed celebs this season. It sucks, quite frankly. Last season at this time I had reported on a significant number of people who had spilled the beans via Twitter (Kelly Osbourne, Debi Mazar, to name two). It seems that, excepting Jason Chambers and Chad Ochocinco (although that was his friends, not him), there is very little to report from Twitter – and I have to think that perhaps the DWTS peeps had wised up about the whole Twitter thing, telling potential stars to SHUT IT.
So, because we’re less than three weeks out, I thought it was time for a little review of what HAS been rumored and reported on, either here or elsewhere. I’ll discuss them by the categories I mentally put them in:
The Real Rumors with Real Potential Category
Most recently, the two big rumors have been Pam Anderson and John Stamos. Pam was outed as a potential by RadarOnline, and Karina Smirnoff claims that John was asked for a previous season and had to decline due to his Broadway commitments. I find it highly amusing that she’s putting in a claim on him just in case he changes his mind.
But, for some reason, I’m not inclined to believe this one will happen – assuming Karina is correct. I just consider John Stamos to be “too big” of a star to actually consider the show. Although it’s possible he could have been asked, I suppose. But I don’t see it happening. Pam Anderson? That one sure sounds likely and I haven’t seen anyone report that Pam denied it.
I guess that the Jennifer Grey rumor goes in this category. I think. Page Six reported that she was in negotiations way back in December but I’ve not heard much about it since then. Very well could be true – we find out in three weeks.
There are a couple of rumors that go here, but not necessarily for DANCING. Paula Abdul (judge or dancer?), Marie Osmond (shudder – potential new co-host) and Nancy O’Dell (potential new co-host). I think the Marie thing is more speculation than actual rumor. Billy Bush reported that there were 5 candidates remaining for the co-host job and that he was REALLY rooting for one in particular. That says Nancy O’Dell to me. The Marie thing was, I think, people taking his words and speculating. I HOPE. And who the heck knows what is going on with Paula Abdul.
The Blabbermouth Celebrity Category
Jason Chambers is kinda lonely in this category, this season.
He straight up said he had meetings with DWTS producers, as I discussed in a post back on February 1, 2010. Because he blabbed, he may have blown his chance. The woman in me hopes like hell he hasn’t.
Chad Ochocinco, on the other hand, was outed by a former team mate as being a possibility for last season. As I said before, celebs rumored for one season often show up on later seasons. Interestingly enough, I did see some twitter chatter that said Chad was going to LA this week – the speculation by these people was that his trip was related to DWTS. I guess we’ll see. And I almost forgot – Dirt Nasty (aka Simon Rex)! He claims he met with the producers back in early January. Did I read that this guy now does porn, or did I imagine that?
The PLEASE PUT ME ON DWTS Category
This is a surprisingly large category.
I’ll just make a list of the ones I’m aware of, starting with the oldest one (from late 2009)
- Flight Time (aka Herbert Lang) of the Harlem Globetrotters by way of The Amazing Race
- Jermaine Dupre
- Kate Gosslin
- Danielle Fishel
- Ross Mathews
- Greg Louganis (who could also fit in the category below)
- Kevin Federine – this one is per Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning. It seems I’ve heard this one before, but maybe I’m confusing him with someone else.
- Candace Cameron Bure – I think we can safely put her in this category based on what I posted here.
That’s all I could find right now. I’m sure someone will pop in (with links) to remind me of others who want to be on the show.
And finally….
The “We’ve Heard This one Before” Category
Back on January 4th, I wrote a couple posts detailing rumors from previous seasons. The intent was to keep track of previous rumors to see if any of them came true for Season 10. Those posts were also titled Rumor Round Up and Rumor Round Up Part II – I’m not going to list all that again, so if you’re curious, click!! Kurt Angle, Bethany Frankel and Vera Wang are the only ones I’ve heard any followup on recently. It’s all speculation on the part of views, as I recall, so I won’t detail it here.

Was someone mentioning Candace Cameron Bure? Ah yes, she’s the one who’s been “speculated” or “wished for” on DWTS for a few seasons now. Where the speculation came from – her or her fans – I don’t remember. And I don’t really care.
But according to her, it ain’t happening. I would suggest she’s lying at the direction of producers, but since she is very religious – well, she best not be.
Okay, this exchange, below, scares me more than LaToya and Pam Anderson combined. Please, God, NO. Please. I don’t ask for much, but I cannot tolerate Marie Osmond. I came to like Donny very much – but save me from Marie, please. To say I disliked her when she was a contestant on DWTS is putting it mildly. And if the dude below ends up being right, I will curse all you Sam Harris haters for making the show WORSE.
You know what they say…better the enemy you know. lol
You all know who Billy Bush is – he’s a radio and TV Host. R.J. Johnson, according to his twitter page, is a TV producer/writer in LA. He could be full of crap, he could be right – I’m just reporting the conversation. I want to share my fear.

I hope.
First, on E! from Tuesday, Julianne outs herself as a Twilight fanatic who belongs to Team Edward – for further outage, check her twitter when she tells everyone she and her sisters went to the midnight showing on thurday night/friday morning here in Nashville. Julianne also talks about Chuck. Also Cheryl interviews Mya and calls Len “a pervert”.
The Insider makes use of Pap Henry’s off hand question to Derek about Playgirl – this is how rumors get started, ya’ll.
E! News from Wednesday – The elimination results in (very) brief.
Holy cow! Entertainment Tonight covers someone other than Donny – or should I say, in *addition* to Donny!! Maybe it’s bad luck for the couple, since Derek and Joanna get eliminated the next night.
Entertainment Tonight from Wednesday Night – Marie and Mary Hart
Reality Chat from Tuesday – and this is what I was talking about in my “Shocking” Elimination post. Votes are *everything* – listen to Rosanna Tvarez talk about Kelly Osbourne. She clearly says that she WANTS Kelly to win – that might not be who should or who will win. They both admit that Mya is the better dancer, and maybe Joanna – but Rosanna is emotionally invested in Kelly. I’m seeing a lot of that across the net too – I think that this season is anybody’s to win. So, which fanbase will muster the votes. And all three couples better have KILLER freestyles – and not just technically good, but one that packs an emotional punch.

Got tired of the same names for these posts. I just wanna say, no matter who goes tonight, everyone is a winner. Tremendous accomplishment making it to the final four out of 16 couples, particularly for Joanna and Kelly. All four couples left should be proud. I’m happy with this final four, no matter who leaves tonight.
Derek and Joanna on the Ryan Seacrest Show.

All four couples on Access Hollywood
This dude/dudette from the LA Times is kinda reading my mind in spots here:
Topping the leader board and blazing a glittery trail to the finish were Mya and Dmitry Chaplin. Earlier in the competition it seemed natural front-runner Mya could do no right by the judges. Now it appears that the Washington D.C./Maryland-born-and-raised singer and former tap dancer can do no wrong. Wouldn’t it be funny if that's what the judges/producers had in mind all along – to bring Mya down to Earth so that she wouldn’t dominate the entire season, and then unleash her like a sparkle-worthy superstar on the ballroom floor so she can soar, chiffon wisps and all, in time for the finals?

Wow. I can’t believe we’re down to the final five. That’s amazing. Good luck to everyone – at this point it’s anyone’s game and anyone could go home. Frankly, at this point, if you go home you can go with your head held high. Fifth place out of 16 is nothing to sneeze at, fer sure. Anyway, getting on with it…remember if you’re a Derek/Joanna fan, I post their media at PureDerekHough.
People OnLine – Monday’s Dancing: What You Didn’t See Excerpts:
Dream Come True: As Britain’s Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle, whose first CD will be released Nov. 23, slowly made her entrance onto the Dancing with the Stars stage late Monday afternoon to pre-tape a performance, which will air on Tuesday’s results show, the crowd burst into applause. Boyle looked elegant in a black sequined gown, her hair coiffed to perfection. Despite battling a case of pre-show nerves, Boyle was completely in her element once the orchestra began playing the opening notes of her signature song, “I Dreamed a Dream” from the musical Les Miserables. Dancers Tony Dovolani and Chelsie Hightower performed an elegant routine to Boyle’s spot-on vocals. But because of a wardrobe malfunction — Dovolani’s bowtie came unfastened from his tuxedo shirt — they had to do a second take. Unbelievably, it was even better than the first.
Derek Hough and Joanna Krupa had by far the most inventive costumes, with battery-fueled LED lights accenting their silver futuristic attire. “When we heard future I was like, ‘LED lights in the costume. I don’t care how you guys do it and how you guys have to make it happen. It has to be good,’ and they did it,” he explained. After the show, Hough played with the switch on his jacket and joked, “You turn me on.” A new pickup line? “I don’t think so,” Krupa said with laugh.

You can find George’s exclusive interviews at KABC – I’ve posted Mya’s below.

ET Online – with the ever annoying Osmond, Marie. Gee, whenever random celebs show up in the audience of DWTS – especially those who could use some PR – I always take bets on if they will be appearing on the show. Tonights random celeb appearances include Taylor Dayne and Jodie Whatley.
A TV Guide Recap article about last night – an excerpt (It’s not just us, Courtney):

And since this is the season of change, the Latin round dances will all be based on a decade: the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and the, uh, future. Thanks, guys. Before we get down to business in the ballroom round, we are treated to a package from the judges to kill time. Oh, and so they can objectively tell us what they’re looking for from each star. Did they read Maks’ complaints? Hmm. So what say them? Donny has too many sweeping movents, Joanna needs to find balance, Kelly needs to improve in ballroom, Mya does too many showy moves and Aaron can’t be overly exuberant in the foxtrot.
Ballroom Round
Mya and Dmitry Chaplin: Quickstep
Mya wants to prove herself, but she and Dmitry agree they shouldn’t change their strategy to please the judges. Uh, maybe you should so you don’t get another 5. So instead of strategizing, they go horseback-riding. As always, Mya’s steps are on point. She’s not very crisp, but the fast pace isn’t tripping her up at all. The routine is also infused with a lot more intricate choreography and there’s a nice easy flow to it. But yet there’s still no charisma or personality exuding from her. Len says he can’t find anything to criticize. Bruno calls it quality and vintage champagne — “After you taste it, nothing else will do.” No, thanks. Carrie Ann loves the gracefulness, but doesn’t feel like Mya is in it to win it.

Several of the entertainment shows had DWTS stories that I’ve not previously posted – I’m sure I’ll have more tomorrow too. It never ends.
Latest on Derek for those not following on Twitter – Joanna says that Derek wants to dance on Monday, but it’s still very much up in the air, because he’s still sick. I personally think he should take the day off and rest, but he is 24 and male, so what are the odds he’ll listen to me?

This one seems to stop abruptly for me, but I thought it was cool.
Access Hollywood with Aaron, Karina, Donny and Kym, and Ashley and Edyta:
Excerpts from People Online - Monday’s DWTS: What You Didn’t See:
Buff Daddy: While most people drop weight on Dancing, pro Tony Dovolani has been packing on the pounds — nearly 20 — since the end of season 8 in May. Dovolani, whose twins turned one earlier this month, tells PEOPLE he’s in training for a role in the upcoming independent film Pumping Up. Shooting stars in December and Dovolani has been working out every day. “I eat like a horse, five or six times a day, and I drink protein shakes, I eat protein bars,” he says. “Right now I’m 192. Usually I’m at 175.” In the movie, Dovolani plays “a character getting ready for a bodybuilding competition. He’s an Italian guy from Queens.”
Scaredy Cats: The show’s opening number was quite the grand entrance as the eight male pros descended from the ceiling on scaffolding. “I was scared wreckless,” Alec Mazo confesses. Even tough guy Maksim Chmerkovskiy couldn’t wait to get his feet firmly on the ground. “I did not like that at all, and Mark [Ballas] was shaking and rocking the [scaffolding],” Chmerkovskiy says. “I am so glad that is over. Never again.”
Excerpts from People Online – Tuesday’s DWTS: What You didn’t See:
Snack Attack: Since it was ladies’ night on the dance floor, the men were able to relax and watch the show. Sitting side-by-side, snowboarder Louis Vito and football pro Michael Irvin shared a bag of gummy worms. Even former politician Tom DeLay was spotted dropping a worm into his mouth. At one point, all the guys were munching on something. “Candy, gummy worms and peanut M&Ms, and cookies and Altoids,” says Vito of his evening snacks. “It’s like watching a movie. How can you watch a movie without something to eat?”
Say What?: The Grammy-award winning singer Macy Gray had everyone on their toes, even the producers. After her first turn on the dance floor, Gray was asked how she felt. “I feel like I just busted my cherry.” While viewers struggled to figure out what she said, the audience roared with laughter. Tom DeLay was spotted wiping away tears from laughing so hard. A source added that backstage was no different: “Everyone was laughing, from the designers to production assistants!”
MSNBC Talks about Ladies Night:

Natalie Coughlin isn’t quite a household name, but as an Olympic medalist in swimming, she’s at least athletic — and she’s paired with Alec Mazo, who’s been looking for a good partner ever since winning with Kelly Monaco in the first season of the show. Alec first worked to cure her of her tendency to grimace angrily while competing, then went on to teach her the salsa. At times, Natalie seemed to have the hang of it, but her hips aren’t quite built for Latin dancing just yet. She’s coordinated and athletic, but she still tends to look like she’s working a little too hard.
Singer Macy Gray is dancing with the lovely and frequently challenged Jonathan Roberts (who handled Marie Osmond’s fainting spell and Heather Mills’ missing leg), and it’s pretty clear that this is not the year things get easier for him. Roberts called Macy “a little bit eccentric” from the beginning, and indeed, she seemed as out of her element as anyone the show has ever featured. Macy managed to walk around the floor in time with the music when it came time for her “Viennese waltz,” but that was about it. Carrie Ann called the performance “beautiful in its own bizarre way,” which was clearly the strongest praise she could muster.

In spite of wearing what appear to be pants made from Big Bird pelts, Joanna looked good dancing. Hers was the first salsa that looked genuinely sexy (her model appearance, of course, doesn’t hurt), and she definitely looks like a competitor to watch.
Last up was Louis van Amstel and Kelly Osbourne, who’s a naturally sympathetic figure, given her wacky family and her obvious insecurities about her looks, weight, and whether she’s got any sex appeal at all. In fact, Kelly explained that it was her eagerness to try something more feminine that led her to the show. Her natural fear that she’d be hopelessly clumsy did not come true at all: she turned out to have a lovely smile, plenty of grace, and much more natural ability than anyone (especially Kelly herself) expected. Looking like a likely fan favorite because she’s both talented and an underdog of sorts, Kelly hugged her wildly excited and weepy famous parents and received very nice praise from the judges. It was an obviously genuine moment, and precisely the kind of thing that keeps people tuning in to the show.

I went though my Tivo and pulled off that which was recorded, and then I surfed the net.
No surprise, I got lots of stuff. First up, Melissa Rycroft’s story on GMA Monday morning.
The Local (LA) ABC Affiliate’s George Patacki (sp?):
Paparazzi Henry is on the case once again. This time he gets Tom Bergeron, in addition to several dancers. LOVE Tom. We also get Lacey, Melissa Joan Hart, Corky and Mark Ballas, Louis V, Chelsie and Aaron, among others.
E! News from 9-22-09 – the feature lots of different people, but of course Donny is always prominent. Shawn Johnson is their correspondent – very cute. ![]()
Entertainment Tonight – warning, they are using Marie all season as their representative. And of course they relentlessly pimp Donny. That whole “donny ripped out Kim’s extensions” thing – I wonder if that is where Derek got the hair? ![]()
All the celebs briefly, but a really cute bit with Debi Mazar and Maks (and Adrien Grenier from Entourage – hubba hubba).
There’s tons more – I’ll post it tomorrow.

Goodness gracious – a week of seven videos some of which highlight people other than Donny Osmond. You guys already saw the Derek/Joanna stuff I captured, here’s the rest of it, starting with Aaron/Karina and Ashley/Edyta. Love Karina’s outfit.
Kelly Osbourne – I just love her. I think the audience will love her too. I love how she takes responsibility for her own actions.
Tom DeLay. And that’s all I’m saying about that. ![]()
Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova on the Donny Osmond Entertainment Net….I mean Entertainment Tonight. ![]()
And the injury hype begins….NOW!! You have now come to the Donny Osmond portion of our program.
I gotta give a minor prop to anyone who tells Marie to “shut up” though. Point for Donny.
A story on Donny and Marie, peripherally related to DWTS.
Finally, Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer. Bit of an audio sync issue with this one, but you’ll get the gist. I had no clue that Mark is as old as he is. Impressive.

DWTS Season 9 News from ET
Written by: Princess HeidiAccording to Kym Johnson on ET, it’s the Country Two-step – which, of course, in my mind makes it WORSE.
“The show is adding the country two-step and the Charleston,” Kym tells Donny & Marie. She goes on to explain that there will be the same number of dances. The show is just mixing things up a bit.
Then Kym watches the on-stage dance competition between the brother and sister team, and rates them both a 10.
“You’re a 10 because you’re fabulous,” Kym tells Marie. Then she jokes with Donny, “And you’re a 10 because you need 10 more hours of dance lessons.”
Not a good sign if Donny and Marie are already bugging me, right? ![]()
