Argentinean DwtS Brings More Than Just Dance To The Floor (Videos)

Do you recall in last season’s off season when PureDWTS reader Carlos Lustosa updated us on Dancing With The Stars in Argentina? He kept us up to speed on Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood’s dancing. He also introduced us to some of the other cool dance talents at the time which you can read about here again if you like. Now Carlos is back to give us more fun updates on Dancing With The Stars in Argentina which is continueing to stun audiences. Note the differences in how they do Dancing With The Stars in Argentina versus how they do the show in the United States. You’ll also notice they get a little more …uhhh “risque” (is this a good word to describe? 🙂 ) in their dancing. It’s quite interesting and Carlos has this special way of taking us up, close, and personal. Enjoy and be sure to watch all the videos he’s attached. If you are like myself, it will be well worth your time especially if you are a lover of dance in general and how other cultures influence it, etc. Feel free to tell Carlos your thoughts and ask any questions if you have any. Carlos, from all of us at Pure Dancing With The Stars, we thank you for taking the time to update and report on the show from Argentina for us and we can’t wait for you to tell us how the competition turns out. So, without further ado, here’s Carlos….

Argentinean DwtS Brings More Than Just Dance To The Floor

Hello guys, I’m Carlos, a Brazilian fan of DwtS, but I’m here to talk about the Argentinean version of the show we love. Some of you may have read the comments I wrote that became posts that Vogue published about Bailando, when I talked about Pamela Anderson’s participation and some peculiarities about this show, that is, at fact, a part of the Showmatch, a variety TV show with a tone we call “Popularesco” – which would be geared towards the masses and the content would be full of innuendos
well, think “Jersey Shore”). This said, let’s talk about the dance they do in Argentina. AsĂ se baila en Bailando:

Well, the show premiered on May 17th and will end in a couple weeks from now. Yes. Almost eight months. Do you think it’s too much? Wait till you learn that there are 36 couples who compete during the entire season. 30 couples started, 6 quit (Pamela Anderson and Mike Tyson, amongst them) and were replaced. There was a gay actor paired with a male pro, a “couple” that consisted of two sisters, and one of the celebs is a dwarf lady (my favorite dancer!). Now, the dances: there are a lot of them, of course, some of them as crazy as it can be, and many are very “freestyled”. In fact, some aren’t really a style of dance but named after a prop that you have to use while you are dancing. I’m going to list below the styles the couples danced this season and the huge, and when I say huge I mean HUGE, list of the dances that have appeared on the show during its seven seasons. As example, I’ll try to use the videos of my favorite contestant, the Dwarf singer, Noelia Pompa, and her partner HernĂĄn Piquin. Now, tell me: isn’t she incredible? =]

Note: As David Arquette joked on Jimmy Kimmel about the steamy flavor the Argentinean version of DwtS has, some videos are – how can I say? – NOT kid-friendly, and NOT suitable for work. =p (I’ll let you know which ones)

1- Pop Latino – No big deal here. It’s a freestyle dance to a latin/latin-singer song.
2- Cha Cha Cha
3- Adagio – Similar to Rumba because it’s slow and romantic, but it’s more like freestyle. And you are allowed to do lifts.
4- AxĂ© – This is when Pamela Anderson quit. AxĂ© is a Brazilian street dance that may be similar to aerobics and, traditionally, it’s danced as the song ask you to do some moves. Example: “Put the hands on your knees, get down, shake your booty, etc).
5- Reggaeton – Puerto Rican hip hop

6- Cumbia – Remember Cuban salsa, which is different from the salsa in line (the sisters Escudero. Starts at 3:50) NOT kid-friendly, and NOT suitable for work! but very creative.

7- Baile del Caño – Pole Dancing Noelia.

Evelyn Lozada, Jeb Bush, And Sherri Shepherd For Dancing With The Stars Season 13? (Update on Snooki and Mike Tyson)

We have more contenders to add to the Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Cast rumors list this week. For starters, we have former Florida State governor and 2012 Presidential GOP hopeful, Jeb Bush (Say WHAT?) and “Basketball Wives” reality star and Chad Ochocinco’s fiance, Evelyn Lozada. Below is what TMZ is reporting on Evelyn. Chad says she’s in “talks” with Dancing With The Stars. He also might be involved with the show again somehow. As you know Chad was paired with Cheryl Burke in Season 10.

“Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada may soon follow in her fiance’s fox-trotting footsteps — TMZ has learned the future Mrs. Chad Ochocinco is in talks to join the next season of “Dancing with the Stars!”

Sources connected to the show tell us … “Dancing” producers love the idea of having Evelyn on the show — especially since she’s engaged to Chad who was a previous contestant.

We’re told the show is even hoping to involve Mr. Ochocinco … since he’s now an expert in the ways of the ballroom.

As for Jeb Bush, tonight (Friday night) he sits down with Hannity on Fox to talk about the upcoming Presidential election. Below is what Jeb is quoted as saying about dancing and a run for the Presidency. You can read more at the Miami Herald. I wouldn’t take take this too seriously as this sounds like a tongue and cheek comment. In fact, I almost didn’t report on it.

On a 2012 run for president: “I don’t anticipate that, you never say never. This is a standard answer that I’ve kind of learned how to give which is — you never say never, but I never ruling out being on Dancing with the Stars either.”

Also, Wendy Williams has a new video up at her site where she talks of Sherri Shepherd in talks to do the show. We reported on Sherri earlier and this isn’t the first season she has been rumored to dance. She was rumored to dance in Season 10 and remarked she wanted to dance with Maks. Thanks to Puredwts reader Maddy for this news….

Oh, and for those hoping for Snooki to dance on Dancing With The Stars, Rumorfix is reporting that her manager says the talks are not true (thank goodness!! Many of us are sighing in relief!). More below…

Multiple blogs are reporting that the Jersey Shore star is going to pick up where Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino left off — and she’s in talks with the hit TV show.

But Snooki’s manager, Scott Talarico, tells RumorFix, “Not true.”

We know you’re probably as disappointed as we are — so we can confirm that Snooki and the rest of the Jersey Shore gang will be making a cameo in the Three Stooges movie, starring Sean P. Hayes, Jane Lynch and Sofia Vergara.

Lastly and adding: Mike Tyson doesn’t plan on dancing on the show anytime soon by the sounds of this tweet;

So, how do you feel about Jeb, Evelyn, and Sherri? Evelyn might be cool, but, I’m not sure about Jeb? I guess I should just be thankful it’s not his brother GEORGE!! Ok, so I am bad. 🙂 Sherri might be ok, but, please don’t put her with Maks!

Dancing With The Stars 13 Cast Rumors And Wannabes Marina Sirtis, Velvet Sky, Snooki, Rob Kardashian and Christina Milian?

What do you think of Snooki, Rob Kardashian and Christina Milian dancing on the next Season of Dancing With The Stars? According to US Weekly, this could be something in the making. Mike Tyson’s name comes up again too. Here is a take from the link.

Snooki isn’t the only reality star being considered: Rob Kardashian, 24, is also in discussions with the network. “Rob is such a low-key guy, so it would be interesting to see if he’d come out of his shell,” a source says. (Here’s hoping that he fares better than his sister Kim Kardashian, 30, who competed in 2008 and was kicked off on the third week!)

Other potential hoofers? Mike Tyson, 45, “is being considered,” explains a second insider (though the boxer’s rep says this is “not true”). Plus, producers are talking to R&B singer Christina Milian, 29. “She’s a possibility!” the source tells Us.

I hate to say it, but, I really hope it isn’t something in the making. I think this would be the most lackluster bunch in the show’s history if it comes true. 😐

Heidi mentioned in another thread that she thought she had reported earlier on Snooki rumored to be dancing before. When both of us did a search, we couldn’t find it, but, it’s amazing how much Snooki’s name came up in the results. Has Heidi had a psychic dream or vision instead? I wouldn’t be surprised. Time will tell. 😯

Also, add pro wrestler Velvet Sky to the Wannabe List. Check out this article from Wrestling News mentioning it and a recent tweet;

Another wannabe is Star Trek’s Marina Sirtis. She expressed wanting to be on the show at an Albuquerque Comic Expo recently. Since then, fans have started a page for her at Facebook.

She’s beautiful. I can see her with Tony?

So, what do you think of all of these possible contenders? Excited much …or uhh, not? Who do you seem them paired with?

Argentina Dancing With The Stars “Soooooooo Freak That It Is Irresistible”

Since Argentina doesn’t share the same language, it’s been hard to report on their version of Dancing With The Stars. As some of you might know, Damian Whitewood and Pamela Anderson are contestants. So far, they’ve been very popular on the show as well as Boxing champ, Mike Tyson. Not only did Damian and Pamela delight many of us with their dancing in Season 10 (they have been one of my favorite couples to ever dance on the show!), they are doing the same in Argentina…and maybe even more so? Thanks to PureDWTS reader Carlos Lustosa, below is some video footage. In Carlos’ own words, “This show is soooooooo freak that it is irresistible. ahahahahaha”.

Here they are doing the Rumba….

Damian also posted this picture of Pamela on his facebook page.

According to Carlos, the best contestant on the Argentina version of Dancing With The Stars is a dwarf named Noelia. He said “She’s simply amazing. Not Kidding.” You can see Noelia doing a Cha Cha with her partner below…

Here is more from Carlos on the show:

uh, let me just do a review about this season of Bailando… and some latin american versions of SCD/DwtS

This is the 8th season of “argentine dwts” “Bailando por un sueño” and is called just “Bailando 2011”. At first seasons, the show was like this: a star was paired with a “dreamer” (sueñador) and helped him to realize his dream (sueño), that’s why the show was called “Bailando por un sueño” (Dancing for a dream). As long as the couple keeps on competition, more money it earn.

Nowadays, the show is more like DwtS and this season has 30 couples. THIRTY. Most known people are Mike Tyson and Pamela Anderson. Don’t know if you like soccer but the paraguayan muse of 2010 world cup Larissa Riquelme was dancing ther, but left the competition last week due to a injuried knee. Ah, theres a couple of 2 guys, this season (the journalist JosĂ© MarĂa Muscari and partner Emanuel GonzĂĄlez. video chacha)

As for the judges: there are 5 of them. Each week one of them gives a “secret score” wich will be revealed just on result, after the viewers votes. If you thik that CAI, Bruno and Len are inconstant with their scores, think again. The score difference between the argentinian judges is ridiculous. One can give an 10 and the other a 5, for example. (We don’t see this even on british strictly come dancing…)

Have to say that this version is extremely “lascivious”… there are some sexy-sexy-sexier dances of all DwtS-like shows, such as strip dance and pole dancing.

On former seasons, there were some rhythms that are not well known on DwtS, as merengue, lambada, a lot of salsa styles – cubana (cuban), quebradita (don’t know who to translate… something like broken-y), milonga (kind of fast tango… love this dance) -, cumbia, samba (not the latin ballroom, but the brazilian), axĂ© (a brazilian dance from carnaval of Bahia)…

And if you think that’s all you didnt’ see the peruvian, mexican, ecuadorian versions. Guys, the peruvian version is… I can’t describe, you have to see. On this versions there are some classics like arabian dance, pole dancing, reggaeton, and some dances the do on a different weather… for example they have LAMBADA IN THE RAIN.

Video (delly and josé luis, the winners of their season)

Brazil
Here in Brazil the show is called “Dança dos Famosos” (Famous’ Dance or Stars Dance) is very boring. The production is not a propper show but a part of a sunday show, so, not that good and very far from the US version (wich is a shame) and from the latin american ones (thanks god! ahaha)… but, I like the fact we have some brazilian rhythms such as forrĂł, samba (gafieira) (good video), lambada, and dances that are very common here like bolero, rock (soltinho), and of course, salsa, tango.

If you have time, check axĂ© in the rain, from peruvian Reyes de la Pista (Kings of dance floor): Video (AxĂ© – pronouce almost “ashae”. Detail: 1:50)

Be sure to watch the “comment” section of this post. Carlos is planning to keep us updated!!

Carlos, thanks so much!! This is fun and so fascinating! 😉

And Dancing With The Stars producers if you are reading this, PLEASE BRING BACK DAMIAN WHITEWOOD!!!

Pure DWTS 2011 – Mike Tyson And New Cast Talk On Atheletes Doing Dancing With The Stars

Not sure on this Dancing With The Stars new cast possibilty and it’s probably unlikely, but, Mike Tyson was Jimmy Kimmel’s guest Thursday night. In Thursday’s segment with Mike, Jimmy questions Mike about the possibility of him dancing on the show since he’s currently starring in the Argentina’s “Dancing With The Stars”. Tyson replies, “They [the US version] don’t pay as much as Argentina” which makes me wonder if he hasn’t been asked and given an offer by the American version. What’s more, Mike’s wife wants him to do the show. Mike and Jimmy talk about Dancing With The Stars at the end of the first video and at the beginning of the second video.

Speaking of another athelete dancing on the show and after Hines Ward winning the Mirror Ball this Season, as well as other atheletes in the past, do you think atheletes have an unfair advantage over the rest of the contestants in the competition and should execs think of not including them in the future so others have a chance to win? I ran onto this article at Popwatch that examines the question.

If you count Helio Castroneves and Nicole Scherzinger as athletes — and, as any race or dance enthusiast will tell you, they most certainly are — then 7 of the 12 champions from Dancing With the Stars are from the wide world of sports. (In your face, all you super tough actors and boy band members!)

With Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward bringing home the glittery disco ball last night, it’s easy to wonder if the reality show’s athlete stars have an advantage on the show. After all, they do have a major foot up, thanks to years of vigorous physical training, which sometimes includes dance. (I’m fairly certain all pro football players are sanctioned by the NFL to know and perform the Super Bowl Shuffle on command.) And as as most late night talk show hosts have been quick to point out, Kirstie Alley wasn’t nearly as athletic as her DWTS counterpart Ward, so did she even have a fighting chance to take the whole thing? Did Hines, like Shawn Johnson and Emmitt Smith before him, come in with physical capabilities the other contestants simply couldn’t compete with? Or was he, like them, just a better dancer?

So, what do you think? Do you like the idea of Mike Tyson (another boxer) doing the show?

Also, do you think the show shouldn’t cast any more atheletes since they have unfair advantage?

One more question, if you’d like to see more atheletes on the show, who would you like to see dance?

In my opinion, I don’t care if the atheletes have an advantage or not. Yes, Kirstie might have won this season if Hines wouldn’t have danced. Even still, I’ve loved the atheletes on the show with my favorite being Evan Lysecek. Not sure about Mike Tyson though? He seems a little cocky. I continue to dream on Johnny Weir being cast …as well as Oksana Baiul or Katerina Witt. I’d love to see Chris Evert do the show too (or any tennis star for that matter).

Heidi’s Note: So, Nicole’s an athlete now?? Give me a break. I also don’t count Helio as one either. As for if they have an unfair advantage?? Most everyone cast on the show has some sort of advantage (it’s about whose is biggest) and I think this is just another way for those who LOST to whine about losing. If it’s not “previous experience” it’s “athletes”. :::rolls eyes::: EVERY season you can point at at least one person and say “So and so would have won, if not for_____” Winning or losing has to do with a huge number of factors besides that person’s past history – Chelsea SHOULD have had the biggest advantages as she was the youngest, and we saw what happened there – beaten by said 60 year old Kirstie. Why? Kirstie had fanbase – a better advantage than Chelsea’s age. Hines beat Kirstie because he was an athlete? Doubtful – he could move better than her and his personality was very engaging. Could he move better because he was an athlete? Well, how about the fact that he’s half Kirstie’s age?? I think this is just another case of sore loser-dom. 🙂 I’m with Vogue – bring ’em on.
