DWTS 14 End-of-Season Awards – Which Couple’s Elimination Was the Most Disappointing?

Other responses:

William & Cheryl – 4
Jaleel & Kym – 2
Katherine & Mark – 1
Gavin & Karina – 1
All of them really they were all so much fun – 1 (Vogue, did you write this one in? šŸ˜‰ )
None.Ā  Even if it was a shocker, I wasn’t disappointed because I wasn’t rooting for them. – 1 (And I thought I had a hard time this season!)

Courtney: This is always an interesting category, because I think certain people interpret it in different ways – some people seem to vote for the most shocking elimination, some people vote for their favorite couple (because it would stand to reason that their elimination probably would be the most disappointing in their mind!), some people vote for someone in the finaleĀ that they felt they didn’t place high enough.Ā  *shrug* To each his own.Ā  I guess I tend to vote for the couple whose elimination seemed to illicit the greatest emotional response in me – and I think that often gets colored by how that couple fares throughout the season.Ā  My knee jerk reaction with this one was Roshon & Chelsie, but then I realized by the time they got sent home that they had been beaten up so badly by the judges week to week that I was almost relieved that they weren’t going to have to endure it any longer, and I wasn’t going to continue yelling at the tv in frustration.Ā  I was kinda sad to see Gladys go, for the simple reason that I thought they really kinda screwed her in the end; I was disappointed to see Maria & Derek go, because I thought they could have delivered a much more entertaining performance in the finale than William & Cheryl.Ā  But in the end, as surprising as this may sound, I think I was actually most disappointed to see Jack go – because at that point in the season, I wasn’t totally jaded by all the fishy stuff the judges were doing, and I thought Jack was one of the stronger male dancers in the competition and I wanted to see more from him.Ā  I guess by the time Roshon & Maria’s eliminations rolled around, I was kind of “whatever” about this season as a whole, so it didn’t bother me quite so much – but I was definitely upset by Jack’s earlier ouster.

Vogue: My feelings in this category stumped me too. I thought this award would go to Roshon all season, but, he actually stuck around until the right time despite how harsh the judges were on him all season. In the end, it was a toss up between Martina, Jack, and Sherri. Who did I pick? Sherri!! Yes, Sherri. At first I had my misgivings with all the cheating stuff and then she started wrapping me around her finger with how funny and compassionate she was about learning how to dance. She was so into it all. When she cried during her elimination, I cried too. She was so thankful to her fans and the experience. I also loved it when she said to take on the things you are most scared of and how that can make you the happiest in this life ā€œon the other sideā€. Remember that? I melted. I was sad to see Jack go as well because there was potential there and he was just an all around nice guy. I would have liked to have seen his message about adoption and finding his daughter played out more. Then there was Martina. I was really hoping to see a retired tennis champ and one of my tennis mentors really take over the dance floor “mentally” somehow like she did tennis and her competitors somehow, but, I was more disappointed in Tony than in Martina. I will always wonder if she had another partner, would she have done better? Maybe not?

Heidi: Well, believe it or not, I don’t think I voted and I don’t think I was really disappointed to see any of them go – I’m a glass half full kind of woman when it comes to Derek and partners like Maria. Maria was not a natural dancer, but she worked so freakin’ hard and wouldn’t give up and had so much fun and made Derek have so much fun that it’s probably one of my favorite partnerships. But really, with someone like Maria and Derek I end up just being grateful that they made it as long as they did. Sure, I much preferred them to William and Cheryl and they would almost certainly have brought more to a free style – but Maria had a great run. And it was a more successful season for Derek than it was for Cheryl, that’s for sure. Despite all the pimping, Cheryl couldn’t get past third place. Derek, on the other hand, took someone that he thought would be eliminated in week three or four and found a way to make sure she stuck around in a season where she could have easily been forgotten in the William/Katherine mass pimpage. Ā Katherine being the only one worthy of such pimpage. šŸ™‚ Ā Well, yes, I was probably sad to see Jack go…and Gladys…but disappointed?? I dunno. Ā  Hellooo? Katherine and Mark were not actually “eliminated” – they just didn’t WIN. Geez, greedy much? šŸ™‚

Vote for Your Favorites in the PureDWTS Season 14 End-of-Season Awards!!!

Ā Ok kids, it’s time once again to vote of our biannual “end-of-season” awards…our sort of “wrap up” for season 14, where we see what you guys think were the highs and lows of this season šŸ™‚ If you want to get a feel for how these awards work, you can check out previous seasons’ award recipients here.

First, the rules: I’ve picked what I deem to be the most likely candidates (with the strongest chance of winning) for each category – of course, some of you are going to disagree, and that’s fine.Ā  If you don’t see your pick listed as an option, you can write-in your own nomination in the “other” box.Ā  ButĀ here’s my biannual disclaimer about the dreaded “other” box: if I can’t read what you wrote because it’s badly misspelled/grammatically nonsensical/generally incoherent, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT.Ā  If your response to the question does not make sense (i.e. you simply vote “Donald” for best dance), YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT.Ā  If you simply repeat one of the already listed responses because you can’t be bothered to actually pay attention, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT.Ā  If you’re just generally being a nudnik and giving harassing responses, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT.Ā  *shakes head* I still can’t believe that I have to give this spiel twice a year…

…anywho, we’ll give you guys a week to get your votes in, and then we’ll reveal the results in a series of posts starting next week.Ā  Now ready…set…VOTE!!! šŸ˜€

DWTS13 End-of-Season Award Winners – Which Couple’s Elimination Was the Most Disappointing?

Other responses:

David & Kym – 20

Elisabetta & Val – 2

Rob & Cheryl – 1

Chaz & Lacey – 1

Tie between Chynna & Kristin – 1

None/They all deserved to go except JR – 2 (Had to chuckle a bit at this one…;-))

NANCY WAS THE WORST DANCING – 1 (Ok, we get it: you didn’t like Nancy…but at least answer the question CORRECTLY 8O)

Courtney: This one was an odd one for me. While it was somewhat disappointing for me to see two very talented contestants sent packing early on (Kristin & Chynna), I can’t say it was entirely unexpected – both Heidi & I got a feeling before the season even started that those two ladies in particular could blend into the woodwork and be the victims of shock eliminations. Especially with Chynna – I think I mentioned in the weeks leading up to the premiere that Chynna & Tony were not doing nearly as much media as the other couples, and that I wasn’t sure how much of a fanbase Chynna was going to have, since she had been out of the spotlight for awhile. And with Kristin, I was seeing Audrina all over again – very pretty, talented girl, but with a fanbase that couldn’t be bothered to tune in and vote. In those situations, unfortunately, it often really doesn’t matter how well you dance – if you don’t have the votes to back you up, you’re probably going to get sent home pretty early. Really and truly, I think Carson was the most disappointing elim for me – I wanted (and sometimes really needed) his comic relief on the show for awhile, even though I can admit that I do think it was probably his time to go. Ricki & Derek – yeah, it would have been nice to see them place 2nd instead of 3rd, but I think they still did quite admirably; I think Nancy & Tristan lasted longer than anyone expected, so they were eliminated with a great deal of pride; sorry, but I think Hope & Maks should have been gone long before they were actually eliminated – and they both seemed so bitter and angry by the end, that it was kind of a relief to see them set free. I’m glad so many of you were disappointed to see David go – he had grown on me by the end, too, and I had been hoping he made it to the finale; I’m not sure why I didn’t include him as one of the regular responses – I guess I was just trying to keep it limited to 6, just to maintain my sanity šŸ™‚ I can’t say I was disappointed to see Elisabetta & Val go – but I was disappointed that she wasn’t better than she actually turned out to be.

Heidi: I’m trying to remember who I voted for in this category. Pretty sure it wasn’t Ricki and Derek – I kinda felt like Derek fans were being a bit greedy. Really, if they weren’t going to WIN what difference does it make if they are second or third?? Don’t get that. I’m just happy Derek was on every single week. šŸ™‚ And really, they went out in STYLE which they wouldn’t have been able to do if they had gotten second. Like Courtney said, we did predict Chynna and Kristin would have problems – the difference is between “surprise” and “disappointment”. You can be unsurprised, but still be disappointed. There are many times that I am pretty sure at what’s going to happen, but my hope gets the better of me. I keep hoping that the audience will surprise me. THAT said, I wasn’t disappointed when Chynna left, but I was kinda disappointed when Kristin left. But I would bet I voted for David or Carson – those two were killing me and they really kept the show light and fun – which is what it should be all the time. šŸ™‚ I kinda feel like Carson’s departure started the downhill slide of the season; when the producers didn’t have his antics to focus on, the shifted over to Hope and Maks and thereby shifted the tone of the show…and not for the better.

Vogue: This past season, I felt like America got it right for the most part with who was picked to go each week. Yeah, maybe Kristin and Chynna were picked to go too early. Then again, I felt like Kristin legs weren’t going to have the power they needed to get her very much further on the show anyway. She and Mark didn’t have that certain magic together either. Chynna’s legs were weak too and I was tiring of the ballet swirls she kept doing even though I thought they were kind of cool at first. There were a couple of times, I was worried Chaz and Nancy might go home too early. I loved how they gave it their ‘all’ every week. Chaz had a telling message and such a big heart. Nancy and Tristan were so entertaining and they took me away every week with their Prince and Princess way. In the end, I voted for Chaz and Lacey as the most disappointing elimination only because I felt like Bruno was so ‘over the top’ mean to him which wasn’t right or necessary. I was more It was hard to see Anna and Carson leave too. They were so entertaining. In fact, they were one of the Most Entertaining couples to ever grace this show. For that, they should look back at their union so proud.

Vote for Your Favorites in the DWTS13 End-of-Season Awards!

It’s time once again to vote for your favorites/least favorites in our semiannual end-of-season awards! While Heidi & I’s cheesecake awards are more humorous (and just bestowed by she & I), this is a chance for you guys to weigh in on the bests and worsts of this past season, and for us to be a bit more serious.Ā  To see examples of past award winners, check out the results of the season 11 & 12 end-of-season awards.

Of course, there are some guidelines before you vote.Ā  Keep in mind that we tried to pick the most likely candidates for each category – ones that we felt most of you would probably pick, if asked.Ā  There is no point in listing a dance like Ron & Peta’s cha-cha as a candidate for best dance of the season šŸ˜› However, if your pick for a certain award is not listed, there is an “other” box that you can chose and write-in your own nomination.Ā  But be warned: if I cannot read what you wrote, I’m not even gonna bother counting it.Ā  Spell check, kids šŸ™‚ And if you write in something that’s already been listed as one of the choices, I’m throwing your vote out on principle alone – kind of like those tests that sees if you read all the instructions before proceeding.Ā  Things were a bit less chaotic for last season’s awards than for season 11’s, butĀ I still got quite a few badly misspelled, grammatically confusing, and downright incoherent answers thatĀ I had to throw out.Ā  For the sake of my sanity, kids – at least try to make your choices clear šŸ˜‰Ā  That said, VOTE AWAY! We’ll give you guys a week or two to get your votes in, and then we’ll reveal the results at a later date.Ā

Pure DWTS End-of-Season Awards – Season 12

We know you all love the comedy of the Cheesecake Awards, but we here at PureDWTS do know how to be serious, as well šŸ™‚ So it’s time to vote in our end-of-season awards – we started this last year as a way to look back at the season and see what the bests and worsts were, and see how our readers really felt about the season as a whole.

The voting categories are below – please vote on each one.Ā  We will reveal the results in a series of posts in the upcoming weeks, as well as our commentary on the results.Ā  Vote away and enjoy!!!

NOTE: There is an “other” box, if you really & truly don’t agree with any of the options listed for a particular category.Ā WeĀ did our best to compile a list of good nominees for each category, butĀ not everyone is going to agree. C’est la vie.Ā Ā So if you want to vote “other” – simply click on that option and type in your answer.Ā  However, a word of caution – if I cannot understand what you typed, I won’t count it in the vote totals.Ā  I’m afraid some went a little crazy with the “other” box last season, and I was left to muddle through some badly misspelled, grammatically confusing, and downright incoherent answers…as well as answers that were already listed as nominees.Ā  *facepalm* So for the sake of my sanity, kids, please – at least try to spell things correctly, and make sure the thing you are voting for isn’t already listed a nominee šŸ˜‰
