Because it’s summer and there’s not much else DWTS-related to talk about – why not get a blast from the past and take a look at what some of our pros and judges do when they’re not performing on the show? And in this case, the activity in question is appearing in music videos – with varying results. Some of them are pretty cool, others are blink-and-you-miss-it cameos, and some…should probably stay buried forever Let’s check it out… Read more..
Oh, I am one happy camper as one of my favorite female artists, Kylie Minogue, is set to perform on Tuesday night’s Dancing With The Stars Results show. As previously reported, R & B singer Ne-Yo will also be performing. Below are more details on both nights of Dancing With The Stars Week 8 from ABC MediaNet. Get ready, it’s going to be a special week as the show is also paying tribute to our Veterans.
“Episode 1508 & 1508A” – Monday night’s performance show on “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” will include two rounds of competition for the seven remaining couples, a Ballroom and Latin Trio round. In honor of Veterans Day, the first round will feature performances to songs that pay homage to servicemen and women. During the Latin Trio round, each couple will be joined by an eliminated pro or Troupe dancer, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. The audience will also be joined by members of several branches of the Armed Forces, including two former Marines, William Franco Vasquez and Nick Jones Jr., who will be special guests on an episode of ABC’s hit comedy “The Middle” on November 14.
“Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars the Results Show” will feature outstanding musical performances from Kylie Minogue and Ne-Yo, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET). Global pop icon Minogue will perform “Locomotion” alongside the renowned “DWTS” band, accompanied by pro dancers Kym Johnson and Tristan MacManus. She has just released her latest album, “The Abbey Road Sessions,” which debuted at No. 2 in the UK. The album, which was recorded in London’s legendary Abby Road Studios with Minogue’s band and a full orchestra, features 16 classic tracks, all reworked. Also taking the stage is three-time Grammy Award-winning artist Ne-Yo, who will perform his current hit single, “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself),” from his newest album, “R.E.D,” in stores now. “R.E.D,” an acronym for Realizing Every Dream, is Ne-Yo’s fifth studio album, through which he continues to embrace dance-pop while maintaining his connection to R&B. Before two couples are eliminated from the show, there will also be a special performance from pro dancers Anna Trebunskaya and Valentin Chmerkovisky, alongside special guests Tiler Peck and Robert Fairchild, principal dancers with the New York Ballet.
The 4th “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance of the season comes from the amazing cast of Disney’s smash new Broadway musical, “Newsies,” which is breaking box office records and winning Tony Awards for the best songs and best dancing on Broadway. Eighteen of some of the most talented performers audiences have ever seen will be joining the ballroom on Tuesday night, performing the thrilling “Seize the Day” in yet another must-see “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance.

John: Seriously. How do you decide on this one?
Vogue: I have to say this was kind of lackluster Season for entertainment in my opinion. I was hoping for Katy Perry, Rihanna, or Lady Gaga. But, from the choices, I picked New Kids On The Block/Backstreet Boys. I so loved the boy bands and it was great seeing them again. I loved Hanson too!
Courtney: This category drives me absolutely NUTS because there’s so damn many musical acts each season, and a ridiculous number of write-in votes. People, please – Josh Groban’s name is spelled like that, and there are no alternative spellings. And whoever wrote in “Hanson FTW” – you irk me. Echoing John’s sentiments, I’m a little perplexed as to how Adele managed to win this one. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Adele, but she only sang one song (with laryngitis) and was forced to bow out of the second one due to aforementioned laryngitis. It was an ok performance – but not her best. But alas, Adele is popular with our readers – laryngitis or not! I’m with Vogue on this one…I’m such a boy band fangirl, and I’m ridiculously excited to see NKOTBSB here in Indy later this month 😉 I actually thought they put on the best “show” of all the musical acts – you could tell they had put some thought into their performance, and hadn’t just flown in at the last minute and been like “Ok, we’re here, give us some dancers and we’ll do a quick run-through.” Hanson was a nice addition to the performance show – definitely better lead-in music than Harold Wheeler’s many variations on the DWTS theme. I really enjoyed Michael & Delta as well – wish I could say the same for the Black Eyed Peas. But you guys already know how I feel about them – let’s just say I found a very apt comment from someone on Twitter that likened them to a venereal disease. 😉 Jennifer & Toby seemed a little unenthusiastic to me, and I thought Chris Brown did ok given the firestorm surrounding his performance. Rounding out the dreaded write-in category: Josh/Johs/Joe Groban/Grobin/Grodin/etc. (8), David Garrett (3), Katherine Jenkins (1), Pitbull/Neyo/Nayer (1), Selena Gomez (1), Pia Toscano *snicker* (1), and “they all sucked” (1). One performance I kinda wish someone had mentioned – James Blunt. I thought his performance with Val & Daria dancing was one of the most entertaining for me, and seriously – that guy has come a long way since his first album, when he was a total Debbie Downer. Did he get some action or something? The dude has rainbows coming out of his ass these days!
Marianya: Courtney, Vogue… I guess I’m jumping on that fangirly boyband bandwagon. The most memorable musical act for me was NKOTBSB hands down. I mean it seems like it was prepared and created for the DWTS stage as opposed to just something tossed together or taken from a past tour act, that I likey, I likey a lot.
Heidi: I was inordinately fond of that one Hanson boy’s suspenders. I don’t know WHY I like such things or why I get fascinated by them. In any case, I found Hanson’s presence on that one performance show lent the show a new and different feel from usual. Now, I think I generally HATE theme nights on principle, but I liked their inclusion and I loved some of the songs they played. I dunno, it was new and different in a way that I liked for a change.
Oh you crazy kids and the things that get you searching 😉 Seriously – I still scratch my head every week when perusing the search terms for the site…I have to wonder how exactly Google brought you here to answer some of these quirky queries…but alas, I feel obligated to answer nonetheless. I should start calling this feature “Ask Courtney”…
This has easily become the most searched term since the show wrapped – far more hits than any of the other troupe members. Apparently Teddy’s got some of you ladies feenin’ 😉 Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot of info about Ted out on the net…but here’s the best dossier I can give you. He’s a senior at NYU (economics major), he’s likely 21 or 22, he’s Jewish, he & his sister both trained at Maks’ studio, he’s bff with Val, and has appeared as a Latin dance coach on MTV’s Made and has also appeared on Real Housewives of New Jersey. He also likes really small sweaters. Ok, I may have been drawing my own conclusions on that last one 😉 Anywho – for a better glimpse into the life & times of Teddy V., you might check out his Facebook page or follow him on Twitter.
Bachelor Ukraine naked video
Ok, I admit it: I was only kinda half-paying attention when some of the Maksettes were Twittering away about this last week. I like Maks & all, but I’m just not passionate enough to sit through entire episodes of Bachelor Ukraine when they’re completely in Russian, and I simply don’t have the patience for Google translate. So thankfully, the Maksettes on my Twitter timeline were able to fill me in when I was begging for info last night so I could relay the message to you guys 😀 Special thanks to Maria (@MariaNiwiwiN) and Marlene (@marleneb4) for sending me some links I was too lazy & uninformed to find myself 😉 I’m afraid the story isn’t as salacious as this search term would suggest – basically, Maks mooned the production crew a few times while filming, and it ended up on the gag reel they showed on the “After the Final Rose” post-show for Bachelor UK. Here’s a still of it (I have to give a shoutout to Tracy – @FLLottoDreamer – for having the most comprehensive DWTS picture gallery I’ve ever seen on the net…she’s got season 12 AND Bachelor UK on lock!), as well as a YouTube video of the gag reel – a short montage of Maks’ great continental divide is visible at 3:25, but I recommend watching the whole video, as it’s got some priceless footage of Maks engaging in some tomfoolery we’re not used to seeing from him. It’s funny in any language, trust me
Will there be a DWTS tour in 2011?
No official word yet, but it seems doubtful, considering there hasn’t been one since the last one wrapped in early 2009. Derek mentioned last fall that there might be one in the winter of 2010…and clearly, that didn’t happen. I think it’s likely quite a bit harder for them to do a tour now than it was 3 years ago, with so many of the popular pros busy with movies, music, and other ventures in the off-season – plus the celebs themselves seem to be of a higher caliber now than the first few seasons of the show, so the possibility of getting someone as famous as Kirstie or Nicole to go out on tour is not very good…plus the cost would likely be exorbitant. And honestly, I’m not sure that the tour was ever super-profitable in the first place…I went to the one in Indy back in 2009, had pretty good seats, and didn’t pay much for my tickets (in comparison to, say, the ridiculous amount of money I’m gonna plunk down to see NKOTBSB :-D)…and the arena was maybe a little more than half-full. If you’ve got fairly famous celebs and nearly-equally famous pros to pay and you aren’t selling out arenas – I don’t know how this could be a profitable venture. You know what they say…if it don’t make dolla$, it don’t make sense.
What color necktie does Pitbull wear in the “Give me Everything” video with Ne-Yo?
It appears to be red. More specfically, a shade of cranberry.
Shantel Vansanten Cabo
The One Tree Hill actress was in Cabo San Lucas at the same time Louis, Jonathan, Anna, and Dmitry were there doing a wrap party and also a little vacationing. Greg Louganis was also there, which I find interesting, considering he’s been trying to get on the show for a few seasons now…then again, maybe Cabo is just a popular spot for celebs to go & play, and his being there was pure happenstance.
Best ballroom dance for “Addicted to Love”
If you’re going with the original Robert Palmer version, I’d go with a cha-cha. But if you’re using the Florence + the Machine version, which is much slower & sexier, I’d do a rumba to it. It’s not ballroom, but SYTYCD season 7 contestant Adechike did a contemporary routine with all-star Kathryn to the latter version – quite sexy. And here’s your little ballroom trivia tidbit for the day, kiddies: slow down any song with a cha-cha tempo and you can do a rumba to it. Both are in 4/4 time with a break on the 2. </smartypants>
Edyta bulge/Anna Trebunskaya cameltoe/Derek Hough topless/Zac Hanson shirtless/etc.
Ok, now I’m CONVINCED that you guys are just being cheeky and searching random, absurd stuff in order to get here Not sure what type of bulge you’re referring to, since I’m fairly certain Edyta is a girl; and I’m not even going to entertain the Anna one, because I love her too much. Once again, any requests for pix of various parts of Derek’s anatomy (pinky fingers, elbows, that hangy thing in the back of your throat, etc.) should be directed to Pure Derek Hough; and as for Zac…oh what the hell, I’ll humor you After all, 13 years ago I was screeching over them along with all the other teenyboppers…glad I grew out of that phase. Then again, “grab Donnie Wahlberg’s ass” is still on my bucket list…
PSSST! Have you gotten your votes in for our End-of-Season Awards yet? Time is running out…let us know what you think!
Well, I’m sure that all of you were disappointed that Susan Boyle wasn’t able to perform on Dancing with the Stars tonight. To be honest, I wasn’t. Considering the really amazing talent that has performed on Dancing with the Stars, Susan Boyle seems like a major step down as far as I’m concerned. Nothing against Susan Boyle in particular. I just prefer other music on DWTS.
Either way, here’s the music they used on tonight’s episode of DWTS:
Michael Bolton sang “Hallelujah” with Anna Trebunskaya and Jonathan Roberts performing. Yes, that’s right. Another great dance from Anna and Jonathan and definitely my highlight of the night. In fact, here’s the video:
11 & 10 Junior Ballroom Dance Competition
Mitchell and Jessica danced a Cha-Cha-Cha to the song “All Star”—Smash Mouth
Kirill and Hannah danced a Samba to the song “I Wanna Be Like You”—Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Len Goodman voted for Mitchell and Jessica
Carrie Ann Inaba & Bruno Tonioli voted for Kirill and Hannah
