A Few More Bits And Pieces On The New Dancing With The Stars Stage And New Ballroom Battle Segment

First, just a few more details on the new stage for Dancing With The Stars. Last week, we reported the new set will have new amphitheater-style seating to make room for another level of seats. It will also have a more prominent spot for the orchestra with staircases will that will move about. Today TMZ is reporting that the new changes cost $3 Million dollars. Below are some more details TMZ revealed.

…the COOLEST change will affect the audience … because producers are swapping out the boring bleacher seats for a TRIPLE-TIERED balcony-styled arrangement … kinda like where the old grumpy guys sit on “The Muppets.”

Another cool change — the massive staircase in the middle of the stage will have the ability to SPLIT into TWO halves … which will reveal the orchestra pit.

As for the dance floor … which was basically hardwood planks placed on the ground … it will NOW be an elevated PLATFORM … so if the stars fall over the edge, it could REALLY hurt.

As for the new segment “Ballroom Battle”, according to Louis at twitter, everything has been pretaped. They did some final tapings this past weekend in L.A.. We won’t see the new segment until October (“about week 6“) and it will last three weeks. On week 9, the top three will dance LIVE and the audience will be able to vote.

@ the top 3 will dance the final round live during week 9 of this coming season. The audience will also a chance to vote

More On The New Dancing With The Stars Set Changes

As we reported to you earlier in a Louis Van Amstel post, there will be a new set for the new season of Dancing With The Stars. Entertainment Weekly is reporting more details on it from Executive Producer Conrad Green….

What fresh and sparkly change does Executive Producer Conrad Green have in store for us?
Why, it’s a new stage!

Yes, ballroom dancing fans, the next season of DWTS will feature a fancy new amphitheater-style set for its next round of amateurs. There will be another level of seats for all those crazy folks who wait in line outside of CBS Television City in Los Angeles to attend a taping, and a more prominent spot for the orchestra and the enthusiastic chimes lady. The staircases will even move about the slick stage, though we do hope the weekly back and forth doesn’t trigger any more Kirstie Alley-style spills.

Sounds cool. Bring the new set on…that is if it’s not dangerous in some way to the dancers?

Special thanks to Zach for making sure we had this link!!xx
