Nick Kosovich To Guest On Week 2’s Dancing With The Stars After Party

Just a little heads up on Week 2’s Dancing With The Stars After Party!! According to Elena Grinenko of Grinya Talent, one of this week’s guests is award winning, ballroom expert Nick Kosovich who will help critique the dances. Below is more information on Nick at Wikipedia. As you might remember, Nick was partnered with Tatum O’Neal in Season 2 and Vivica A. Fox in Season 3 of Dancing With The Stars. I didn’t realize Nick was also in one of my favorite dance movies “Shall We Dance” starring Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez.

Nick Kosovich is a professional ballroom dancer specializing in American Smooth and International Ten Dance. Kosovich resides in Los Angeles. He is currently appearing in the “Second Dance World Championship” (Dance for a Dream)in Mexico City for the “Televisa” Company. He is the representing Judge for team USA. He retired from competition dancing in 2005, however he has achieved many awards in his career. An internationally respected figure in the Ballroom world, Kosovich competed for 36 years. He competed in seven Professional World Championship events, won the United States American Smooth Championships and finished second in the 2004/2005 World Classic Showdance Championships.

Kosovich has appeared in movies, includingShall We Danc and also inEveryone Says I Love Yo, Blue in the Face’ and ‘Only with You, Mango Tango’. He has also appeared on numerous TV network shows. Kosovich partnered with actress Tatum O’Neal in Season 2 of Dancing with the Stars. They were the second couple voted off, coming in 9th place. In Season 3, he was partnered with actress Vivica A. Fox until their elimination in the 4th week. He is an Emmy nominated choreographer, for his work on DWTS, recently choreographing for Dance Your Ass Off season 1 and 2.

This should be a fun After Party after the show Monday night. Be sure you are following @GrinyaTalent at twitter for continual notices and updates. You can follow Nick at @smoothchamp.

Anna Trebunskaya Helps Best Friends Animal Society, DWTS Interviews With Drew Lachey

Today Anna Trebunskaya did a sweet segment on pet adoption in association with Best Friends Animal Society on Access Hollywood. You’ll have an “awww” moment when you watch this….

Also, be sure to catch a video of Drew Lachey at People.com where he talks about dancing on Dancing With The Stars again. He also mentions how his daughter can’t get use to Drew’s darker color of skin. So cute!! Here is a take from the link…

The tanning is what the former mirrorball trophy champ expects to confuse his daughter the most.

“The skin tone might throw her off a little bit,” he says, adding with a smile, “But she likes Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, so she might just think I’m an Oompa Loompa.”

The bedazzled costumes, on the other hand, aren’t an anticipated concern for the star.

“My daughter is very theatrical,” Lachey explains. “She loves her little musicals at school, and being in dance class, and the costumes and all that stuff. She’s seen me in costume for Spamalot, she’s seen me in costume for Hairspray. She’s probably going to be like, ‘Oh, what are you doing? Cleaning the house?’”

If interested, you’ll be able to catch Drew on Huffpost Live today at 3:20pm Pacific time here.

PureDWTS Media Tidbits From The Kirstie Alley And Maks Chmerkovskiy Camp

Just a few things to report from the Maks and Kirstie Camp. First of all, congratulations to Kirstie Alley. She’s landed a role in an upcoming new TV Land sitcom called “Giant Baby”. According to the Washington Post, Kirstie will play a “high-mainenance broadway star”. This sounds good. I’ll definitely be checking this out.

In the new sitcom, Alley will play a high-maintenance Broadway star who’s in for a shock when her 26-year-old son — the one she gave up for adoption – shows up at her doorstep after his adoptive mother dies. A series pickup on the new project is “cast contingent” TV Land said Thursday – the casting that’s still in question is that of her “son,” described in the news release as “nerdy and schlubby.” Surely this role won’t be hard to fill — Hollywood’s loaded with schlubby guys, who are all the rage these days. You can’t throw a brick in Hollywood without hitting some schlubby guy on his way to an audition or a meeting with his agent. In fact, the hard thing these days is to find a non-schlub to cast in a show.

Also, in news headlines today is Kirstie’s support for Lady Gaga and the scrutiny surrounding Lady Gaga’s weight gain. Kirstie said “weight expectations for celebrities are not normal and constantly perpetuate an unhealthy, unattainable standard for girls and women around the globe.”

“It’s Hollywood that is obsessed with weight,” she said. “I think everyone should try to be healthy. Lean is better than not lean, but I think we send a horrible message to the world, especially to girls.”

Right on, Kirstie! You can read more at Access Hollywood.

In other news in the Kirstie Maks camp, Peta and Maks attended the Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine Fall 2012 Launch Party last night. You can view some great photos of them at Getty Images. So cute!!

Dancing With The Stars Season 15: Las Vegas Odds Going Into Week 2

The odds makers are placing their bets again for who will win the Dancing With The Stars All Stars at Sports Bovada. As you can see, they’ve got Emmitt and Apolo neck in neck in first and second place. They’ve put Melissa and Bristol tied for last…

Emmitt Smith 3/2
Apolo Anton Ono 7/2
Gilles Marini 11/2
Helio Castroneves 11/2
Shawn Johnson 8/1
Joey Fatone 15/1
Kelly Monaco 20/1
Kirstie Alley 20/1
Sabrina Bryan 25/1
Drew Lachey 30/1
Bristol Palin 50/1
Melissa Rycroft 50/1

So, do the odds makers have it right or wrong?

In my opinion, they probably have it right on the top two currently, but, they are under estimating Shawn Johnson. She should be higher, while Helio should be lower. I also think they are totally wrong for putting Melissa Rycroft in last place. I think she should be placed in the middle somewhere. I also think Kelly is going to make a strong showing and should be placed higher. Let’s get Miss Heidi’s and Court’s thoughts and be sure to tell us what you think in the comment section too.

Heidi: Totally don’t buy Emmitt in the winning position. I don’t think he’s got that kind of juice. I still think this is going to come down to Apolo, Gilles and Shawn, with Apolo winning. That said…Gilles could find himself replaced with Emmitt if he doesn’t lighten up. While he is beautiful to look at, I’m not finding him charming or fun this season AT ALL.  And as William Levy can tell you, good looks are only good for third place in a regular season. In this one?? Maybe not so much. Lucky for him he’s likely going to get some “help” since he’s a card carrying member of the ABC family. Literally. 🙂  The bottom?? I’m thinking it should be Bristol and Drew, but the reality probably IS Drew and Melissa.  If they keep doing a real bottom two, we’ll soon find out. 🙂

Courtney: I’m not convinced at this point that Emmitt is gonna walk away with that trophy – and definitely not with odds that good. I don’t think one good dance in week one is indicative of much right now, considering that most of the couples did pretty well – aside from Pam, no one really did terribly this week.  I’m waiting for a dance like to jive to come along so we can really see what Emmitt’s made of – we know he’s got a great personality, now the question is: can he hang with the youngin’s? Because he is one of the older contestants this season, and like Kirstie, I think he may struggle with endurance.  Still puzzled as to why they have Helio so high.  I would put Apolo & Gilles at about even odds right now, but if Gilles’ whining about injuries, phone numbers, etc. continues, I would expect Apolo to begin to edge him out.  And really & truly, at this point I’d put Drew at the bottom – because he clearly is lacking in the votes department, and I’m not so sure that’s going to improve in the coming week.

Katherine Jenkins And Surprise Guest To Perform On Dancing With The Stars

Get ready, according to a tweet made by Katherine Jenkins last night, she’s going to perform on the Results show next week. Any guesses or knowledge on who the “secret guest” might be or what they will perform? I think it would be cool to see Mark or Derek perform with her, but, I’m not sure the wording of this tweet fits that scenario?

https://twitter.com/KathJenkins/status/251527775704477696

Thanks so much to PureDWTS Matt for passing along this information to Courtney. Stay tuned. We hope to know more details on the second shows and entertainment later.

DWTS Melissa Rycroft Prepares for The Jive, Husband Gives Her Advice, And More

Melissa Rycroft tells TV Guide, that she’s never done the Jive (she and Tony’s next dance), and that she “may be more nervous Week 2 than in Week 1”. Below is more including her thoughts on the cast!! Be sure to read the link because she talks of her family, how rusty she is, and more. I love his girl and her positive, “go get em” spirit, do you?

But you have the jive now and you didn’t do it your season.
Rycroft: I know! It scares me to do the jive because it is a very unnatural dance for me. I think I’m the queen of straight posture and straight legs and pointed toes. And the jive is the complete opposite. It’s energetic and jumpy and you’re right, I didn’t perform it in Season 8. I had hurt my ribs and when we went to the hospital to get injections to numb it, they punctured my lung, so I completely had to pull out. So I don’t know what it’s like to perform it, but everything’s going well so far. We just have to keep up with everybody.

What’s your take on the cast now that you’ve seen everyone perform?
Rycroft: Everyone’s amazing. From an audience point of view, it’s phenomenal to watch because there’s no weak person. I think everybody is capitalizing on their strengths and it intimidates me greatly. It’s very scary this season. I don’t think there’s anybody that’s thinking “I’ll be safe until at least Week 4 or 5.” You don’t know. As an audience member, you can definitely watch the show in a regular season and at least narrow down about five people you know are going to make it until the end. There are always a couple of people who will be one of the first to leave, and this is the first season where you’re going, “I literally have no clue!”

Also, here is a take from WWFA where Melissa, Melissa’s husband (Tye Strickand), and Tony talk on Melissa and Tye’s little girl, Emmitt, dancing, and voting. This is too cute.

“Here is the thing: Who does not like Emmitt?” Rycroft said. “I like Emmitt. My husband even said, ‘Man, I just love him.’ But I said, ‘Don’t be splitting votes in the household.”

Rycroft laughs through it, as after all, this is supposed to be fun.

The one tough spot was leaving her little girl for the first time.

“I think every mom that steps out of mom-mode for the first time, you’re trying to balance it all, and you trying not to feel selfish for wanting to do something else,” she said.

“Melissa was always driven” Dovolani said, “but now she has a little girl she is doing this for.”

“She’ll be with me each time in the green room, and maybe a show or two they’ll let her out,” Rycroft said.

And if they do, she’ll be on the sidelines cheering with dad, Ty.

“Ty would go out there and put his dancing shoes on if he could,” Rycroft said. “He has me do the dances for him at night and he’s like, ‘Point your toes, make sure your shoulders are back.’ I’m like, ‘You’ve already told me you’re voting for Emmitt.’”

“He already has a trophy,” Dovolani said. “Now, it’s our turn.”

PureDWTS Sabrina Bryan “Obsessed” With Her New Song And More

At Hollywood Life, Sabrina Bryan writes in detail of what she experienced “behind the scenes” of Dancing With The Stars Monday night. With every word, you can tell how excited she was. She and Louis gave the couples one word descriptions after each of them danced and they call themselves the “Dazzling Dynamo and the Dancing Dutchman”. Below is more for how Sabrina felt when the eliminated couple was announced. She also talks some on their next dance.

When they called Louis and me to the stage to find out our results, I was so nervous. Standing up there with Cheryl & Emmett and Gilles & Peta Murgatroyd, there was what Tom called “unintentional drama.” When Tom said “you are ALL safe” we didn’t realize he hadn’t said our names! It was hard to go from jumping up and down from joy and then go back to waiting for our fate. When Brooke told us we were safe, I was able to breath again. In the end, Pam and Tristan MacManus were the ones to go home, and we are all going to miss them very much. It just goes to show that you can dance your best every Monday night, and sadly, you can still be eliminated!

So, the Dazzling Dynamo and the Dancing Dutchman will be back next week, dancing the Quickstep! I’m what some might call “obsessed” with my song we get to dance to, since it’s one of my all-time favorites! These superheroes are heading back to the studio to conquer another dance – but I can’t leave without one final thank you to everyone who voted for us this week! We’re going to give you an amazing Quickstep in thanks!

Lots more at Hollywood Life including a really cute drawing!!

Dancing With The Stars Gilles Marini Writes On First Dance And His New Injuries

Gilles Marini writes how he had forgotten how thrilling it is to dance in front of a live audience when he danced on Monday night. He also writes of suffering from some new injuries. Let’s hope they get well soon. According to his twitter and facebook account, the doctor has given him the “ok”. Also, today he practiced his new dance 20 times and he says it’s going to be “fantastic” and “all good”.

It can’t explain how amazing the energy was on Monday night. I forgot how thrilling it is to dance in front of a live audience. Peta and I worked really hard on our dance and even though I was excited to perform I was also nervous. I had a few set back during rehearsals. I tore my hamstring and a joint in my lower back and I wasn’t sure if they would affect my performance, but I pushed on and realized nothing can stop me once I am on that dance floor.
