DWTS13 Week 3 Interviews After The Dance Part 1 (Videos)

Let’s get right to all the new interviews after the dances last night and who better to do it with than George Pennacchio of KTLA and On The Red Carpet!

First up, Maks and Hope!! Maks is so happy and proud of Hope. He doesn’t plan to buy into the “I’m not sexy” stuff that Hope is always saying. Hope says the sexiness is deep inside and it’s taking a ‘special someone’ to pull it out of her (she points to Maks!)

Next up, Carson and Anna! They are totally excited with the results of their dance. The Tango is “who he is”. They talk of collaborating on their costume designs. They are so glad to be here and that he is getting more confident and more relaxed. They show off George’s CIA notes!

Chynna and Tony talk of all the cool support they are getting. She talks of her personal story and is thankful for a standing ovation. George talks of how much Billy Baldwin is helping them.

DWTS13 Week 3 Power Rankings

Ok, so “best year of my life” night wasn’t quite the emotional trainwreck I was thinking it would be – I was actually pleasantly surprised at the honesty and vulnerability of many of the dances. However, I was also just downright confused by some of the dances. Let’s just get right to it, shall we?

1.) JR & Karina – Say what you will about JR “playing to people’s emotions” (ummm…didn’t everyone kinda do that tonight, to a certain degree?), but he was the only one tonight that I though even came close to having the proper hip technique, and he made me feel the emotions behind his dance more than anyone else. Was Karina dancing around him? Maybe a bit, but I did see him actually attempting to “be there” for her at every turn – reminded me a lot of Chris’ rumba last season. I wish Karina would have given him a bit more to do, but I think the way he let his face “talk” in the dance was captivating. The guy has had a heartbreaking backstory – let him tell it without writing it off as “playing the sob story card” (actual tweet I read – some people really do have garlic in their soul like the Grinch!). Emotion aside – it was still a pretty damn good rumba. I grow to love JR more and more each week, and based on what I’ve seen from him so far – I can only assume the best is yet to come Thankfully, he tied for the 2nd highest score, and had probably the most memorable dance of the night, so I’m sure we’ll get to see what he has in store for us!

2.) Ricki & Derek – Admittedly, I thought this one was overscored at first – but then I watched it again and realized that they were the ones who best combined choreography, technique, storytelling, and connection to the dance tonight. I felt like they actually managed to tell a story through their movements, and the choreo wasn’t overly dramatic – it was simple & stripped-down. Technique? Eh…I thought JR & Chynna both had better technique than Ricki, but hers wasn’t bad. The rumba’s a tricky dance, so I’m not really expecting any of the couples to really nail it at this point. Was a little thrown by their song at first – all I could think of was Mia’s drug addiction piece from SYTYCD – but by the time they got through it and told their story, I kinda got it. High score of the night, and a pretty good rumba in a sea of less impressive ones…I’d say they’re pretty safe, especially with such a drop-off in points further down the scoreboard. Read more..

DWTS12 End of Season Award Winners – What Was Your Favorite PureDWTS Feature?

Over 400 of you came out & voted in our End-of-Season Awards – wow! Now it’s time to see just what you guys thought were the bests & worsts of this season. First up, we have the results of the “Favorite PureDWTS Feature” award:

John: This question is absolutely fascinating for me since I started Pure DWTS just because I figured people would be looking for the DWTS music the way I saw people looking for the SYTYCD music. Turns out, people do look for it almost as much. With all that traffic, I figured I should provide something more than music to keep people sticking around. Thus was born the DWTS Power Rankings. Then, once Heidi started posting all the DWTS rumors (that should have been on this list too I guess, along with the DWTS polls we do), people started creating basically full blogs posts in the comments. That’s how Courtney, Vogue, Marianya, Amanda and a few other people started writing. Enough nostalgia, but it’s fun for me to think back how each of the above Pure DWTS features became a staple on the site.

Personally, I think that Who Wore It Better? is probably my favorite. Hard to argue with pictures of incredibly beautiful people (Luckily more women share outfits than men) side by side. Although, I think my favorite response actually came in the Other category where someone said, “All of them–I have become totally addicted to this site!!”

Courtney: Umm, wow. You guys really dig the Cheesecake! Still amazes me that some silly “I’ve got stuff to bitch about and just need a place to do it” feature that I jokingly brought up to Heidi has become such a hit! For those of you going through summer withdrawl from lack of cake, we have some great news for you Heidi & I have decided to do a “Cheesecake Retrospective”, where we’re going to do awards for shows of seasons past – our first “victim” is going to be season 5, week 5, and we hope to have it done within the next week or so. If you guys would like to watch those particular episodes & play along with us, you can go to hulu.com and sign up for Hulu Plus – it’s only $7.99 per month, and it lets you watch seasons 5-11 of DWTS in their entirety in high-quality, amongst hundreds of other shows. If that’s too steep for you, you can always try to hunt down clips from that week on YouTube – the episodes in question were the ones where Sabrina & Mark did their rumba and Mark & Kym did their famous “I Dream of Jeannie” samba, and where J. Lo did “Let’s Get Loud” on the results show. Granted, a lot of our best material doesn’t come from the dances themselves, but the banter in between – but it still might give you some context, if you aren’t able to get Hulu Plus. Hope you guys are as excited for this as I am! Anywho, for those of you in the “other” category who voted “none!”…I’m gonna assume you mean all our features are equally as awesome, so that none of them are your favorite…otherwise, I might have to call you a “hater”

Heidi: It’s funny, I clearly remember you saying something about it on Twitter and I was like, why the hell not?? We may as well bitch in public and get rocks thrown at us. I thrive on rocks, after all. Yes, kids, I would guess you have about a week and a half to watch Season 5, Week 5 before we get this little summer act together. I highly recommend Hulu – if you have a TiVo or some other service (like an internet ready TV) you can even watch all those seasons on your HD TV. The quality is amazing. It’s kinda funny how many of our feature either came out of Twitter conversations, or post comments. The Dancing by the Numbers came about because some Derek fan or Maks fan…someone somewhere was in terror their favorite was going home because they only had a 1 point or so lead on the next person. I was like, “yo, the bottom person is a good __ points behind Derek/Maks/whoever, they aren’t going anywhere.” The response was obvious. “How do YOU know.” LOL. I never KNOW for sure…I just make educated guesses based on the rules of the scoring for the show.

Vogue: Wow, this is just so cool! Everytime a new Poll goes up, I’m fascinated by the results and how quicky they come. When this Poll went up, there were over 300 votes within the first two days of it. I’ve always been a “Poll” person, so this is exciting. Congradulations to the Cheesecake winning. It’s giving me many hours of laughter as well with this year’s highlights and honorable mentions going to the cracks on Mike Catherwood and Lacey Schwimmer. Mike may have went out early, but, he prevailed as being one of the most funny contestants to ever be on the show and I hope producers will give him many more leading skifs in the future. Good skifs mean good cheesecake and possibly with chocolate topping.

As for the other features, like John and several of you who mentioned it in the other catagory and comments, I love them all so much too. It was hard for me to vote. In the end, I picked Heidi’s “Dancing By The Numbers” posts because I enjoy her psychic abilities going down every week as she gathers up the numbers and facts. FASCINATING!!

Anyway, good job All! Thanks for your support and all of your votes. You make PureDWTS what it is every day!! I’m so thankful to be a part of it all!! Here is to the new upcoming “Cheesecake Retrospective: Season 5, Week 5″! Be there or be square!

DWTS Search Engine Round-Up – Week of June 17, 2011

Oh you crazy kids and the things that get you searching Seriously – I still scratch my head every week when perusing the search terms for the site…I have to wonder how exactly Google brought you here to answer some of these quirky queries…but alas, I feel obligated to answer nonetheless. I should start calling this feature “Ask Courtney”…

Ted Volynets

This has easily become the most searched term since the show wrapped – far more hits than any of the other troupe members. Apparently Teddy’s got some of you ladies feenin’ Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot of info about Ted out on the net…but here’s the best dossier I can give you. He’s a senior at NYU (economics major), he’s likely 21 or 22, he’s Jewish, he & his sister both trained at Maks’ studio, he’s bff with Val, and has appeared as a Latin dance coach on MTV’s Made and has also appeared on Real Housewives of New Jersey. He also likes really small sweaters. Ok, I may have been drawing my own conclusions on that last one Anywho – for a better glimpse into the life & times of Teddy V., you might check out his Facebook page or follow him on Twitter.

Bachelor Ukraine naked video

Ok, I admit it: I was only kinda half-paying attention when some of the Maksettes were Twittering away about this last week. I like Maks & all, but I’m just not passionate enough to sit through entire episodes of Bachelor Ukraine when they’re completely in Russian, and I simply don’t have the patience for Google translate. So thankfully, the Maksettes on my Twitter timeline were able to fill me in when I was begging for info last night so I could relay the message to you guys Special thanks to Maria (@MariaNiwiwiN) and Marlene (@marleneb4) for sending me some links I was too lazy & uninformed to find myself I’m afraid the story isn’t as salacious as this search term would suggest – basically, Maks mooned the production crew a few times while filming, and it ended up on the gag reel they showed on the “After the Final Rose” post-show for Bachelor UK. Here’s a still of it (I have to give a shoutout to Tracy – @FLLottoDreamer – for having the most comprehensive DWTS picture gallery I’ve ever seen on the net…she’s got season 12 AND Bachelor UK on lock!), as well as a YouTube video of the gag reel – a short montage of Maks’ great continental divide is visible at 3:25, but I recommend watching the whole video, as it’s got some priceless footage of Maks engaging in some tomfoolery we’re not used to seeing from him. It’s funny in any language, trust me

Will there be a DWTS tour in 2011?

No official word yet, but it seems doubtful, considering there hasn’t been one since the last one wrapped in early 2009. Derek mentioned last fall that there might be one in the winter of 2010…and clearly, that didn’t happen. I think it’s likely quite a bit harder for them to do a tour now than it was 3 years ago, with so many of the popular pros busy with movies, music, and other ventures in the off-season – plus the celebs themselves seem to be of a higher caliber now than the first few seasons of the show, so the possibility of getting someone as famous as Kirstie or Nicole to go out on tour is not very good…plus the cost would likely be exorbitant. And honestly, I’m not sure that the tour was ever super-profitable in the first place…I went to the one in Indy back in 2009, had pretty good seats, and didn’t pay much for my tickets (in comparison to, say, the ridiculous amount of money I’m gonna plunk down to see NKOTBSB )…and the arena was maybe a little more than half-full. If you’ve got fairly famous celebs and nearly-equally famous pros to pay and you aren’t selling out arenas – I don’t know how this could be a profitable venture. You know what they say…if it don’t make dolla$, it don’t make sense.

What color necktie does Pitbull wear in the “Give me Everything” video with Ne-Yo?

It appears to be red. More specfically, a shade of cranberry.

Shantel Vansanten Cabo

The One Tree Hill actress was in Cabo San Lucas at the same time Louis, Jonathan, Anna, and Dmitry were there doing a wrap party and also a little vacationing. Greg Louganis was also there, which I find interesting, considering he’s been trying to get on the show for a few seasons now…then again, maybe Cabo is just a popular spot for celebs to go & play, and his being there was pure happenstance.

Best ballroom dance for “Addicted to Love”

If you’re going with the original Robert Palmer version, I’d go with a cha-cha. But if you’re using the Florence + the Machine version, which is much slower & sexier, I’d do a rumba to it. It’s not ballroom, but SYTYCD season 7 contestant Adechike did a contemporary routine with all-star Kathryn to the latter version – quite sexy. And here’s your little ballroom trivia tidbit for the day, kiddies: slow down any song with a cha-cha tempo and you can do a rumba to it. Both are in 4/4 time with a break on the 2. </smartypants>

Edyta bulge/Anna Trebunskaya cameltoe/Derek Hough topless/Zac Hanson shirtless/etc.

Ok, now I’m CONVINCED that you guys are just being cheeky and searching random, absurd stuff in order to get here Not sure what type of bulge you’re referring to, since I’m fairly certain Edyta is a girl; and I’m not even going to entertain the Anna one, because I love her too much. Once again, any requests for pix of various parts of Derek’s anatomy (pinky fingers, elbows, that hangy thing in the back of your throat, etc.) should be directed to Pure Derek Hough; and as for Zac…oh what the hell, I’ll humor you After all, 13 years ago I was screeching over them along with all the other teenyboppers…glad I grew out of that phase. Then again, ”grab Donnie Wahlberg’s ass” is still on my bucket list…

DWTS Search Engine Round-Up – Week of June 10, 2011

Another week, another random smorgesboard of inquires and curiousities

Are Hines & Kym secretly dating?

Erm…if it was a secret, how would any of us know? I know a lot of us here at PureDWTS were definitely not opposed to a Hinenkym liason, but realistically – I’m not sure Hines’ & Kym’s lifestyles are very compatible at this point. It sure doesn’t sound like they’ve been in the same place at the same time much since the show wrapped, aside from the media blitz the week of the finale. Kym’s been jet-setting all over the place in the past couple weeks – she was at a nightclub in Vegas last week with Dmitry (no Hines in sight), was in Tampa earlier this week to do some promos on HSN for the DWTS hair extensions line, and is doing a bikini photo shoot for Star Magazine today in LA. Hines was tied up earlier this week as a presenter for the CMT Awards in Nashville, and tweeted earlier today that he was “back home” (which I’m assuming is his house in Atlanta, and not the apartment he had in LA for the duration of the show) and his MBT had arrived. Kym did tweet that she wished she was at the CMT’s with Hines, but I don’t think we can really read too far into that, considering a lot of the pros & celebs still do attend events together after the show – Kirstie danced with Maks at his studios’ Summer Invitational. The point? It’s kinda hard to date when you’re seldom in the same zip code Don’t get me wrong, it’s POSSIBLE – but I just don’t find it PROBABLE. You be the judge.

Lorenzo Lamas

We were hearing this guy’s name left & right as a casting rumor for season 12 – so much so that we almost positive that he was going to be on. He was going to Ballroom with a Twist performances, following some of the pros on Twitter, and telling basically any media outlet that would listen that he was “in talks” to do the show. And then – nothing. We didn’t even see him in the audience this season. Maybe the media took a tiny bit of info and ran with it, or Lorenzo himself talked this one up to sound far bigger than it really was, or maybe he couldn’t reach a contractual agreement with the show…who knows. As we’ve said before, sometimes it takes a few seasons of being a rumor before anything actually happens – so I still think he’s a possibility for season 13. I sometimes wonder if TPTB already have a cast in mind for an entire year, and then try to separate them into spring & fall casts, so that there’s an even distribution of personalities & occupations. Or maybe they try to work with certain celebs’ schedules…something like “Hey, we know you said you couldn’t do the show this season due to previous obligations…but could we count on you for next season?” We may never know the particulars, but I sincerely doubt they rest on their laurels once they secure a cast for one season…I would bet they almost have to do some far, far in advance planning to secure some of the bigger names they’ve gotten.

Do Cheryl & Maks smoke?

Only in the bedroom KIDDING!!! With regards to Maks, this seems to be a touchy subject amongst his fans over at maksimchmerkovskiy.com - but people are curious by nature, so to me there’s no point in beating around the bush and calling the topic off-limits. Anywho – I guess there’s a video somewhere of him throwing a cigarette butt on the ground before entering a club or something a few years ago, and I found an old article from back in 2009 with pix of him smoking. Honestly, I’m not surprised – most European-born people I know have smoked at some point in their lives. It seems to be more socially acceptable over there than it is in the US, although it does seem to be losing popularity on a world scale. I would sincerely doubt he’s a pack-a-day smoker, since he’s an athlete and seems to have incredible endurance (and a busy schedule not conducive to regular smoke breaks); but he could be like a few of my friends who are what I call “social smokers” – those who only smoke when they drink or when they’re around others who are also smoking. Whatever he is – doesn’t bother me any, as long as he’s not blowing rings of smoke in my face or trying to make out with me. As for Cheryl – found an old article with pix of her smoking as well. According to my boyfriend, a surprising amont of female pros do smoke – some of them do it to unwind (which seems counterintuitive to me, since nicotine is a stimulant), some of them do it to keep the weight off between competitions. I certainly hope Cheryl isn’t doing it for the latter reason – although those pictures are old, from back when Cheryl was incredibly thin when she first started the show. She seems to be a lot more comfortable with her curves now, so I doubt she’d be doing it for that reason. The verdict? Both are likely just sometimes-smokers, if they even still smoke at all, since I can’t find anything more current than 2009.

Kirstie Alley’s new movie Syrup

Kirstie mentioned it briefly in the video Vogue posted earlier this week. She’s filming it in NYC this month, and is hoping Robert De Niro is her co-star . However, according to IMDB (and take it with a grain of salt kids, because it’s about as reliable as wikipedia – ask Heidi), the only stars listed for it so far are Kellan Lutz, Amber Heard, Shiloh Fernandez, and Allison Williams. No mention of Kirstie’s name – then again, it did just start filming this month, and it doesn’t sound like a lot of details have been released yet. It sounds like the movie’s gonna satirical comedy based on the novel of the same name by Maxx Barry, about two 20-somethings trying to make it soda industry. Hmmm…interesting.

Are Ted & Nicole Volynets brother & sister or husband & wife?

Brother & sister. Although sometimes their dance routines could suggest otherwise…aaaaawkwardness at the 1:43 mark.

Lacey Schwimmer legs

Definitely one of the more “talked about” body parts here at PureDWTS (but nowhere near as popular topic as Kym’s Awesome Boobage(TM) ), mainly because Lacey doesn’t have the typical long, lean, leggy frame that many of the other female pros have – not that there’s ANYTHING wrong with that Lacey’s the second shortest pro, with a height of 5’3″ (Chelsie’s 5’2″), and her legs are noticeably more muscular than most of the other female pros. While this does tend to make a woman’s leg lines in Latin look less aesthetically pleasing (especially when Lacey insists on wearing something OTHER than ballroom shoes, which annoys me to no end), they do have an advantage – shorter legs usually make for greater flexibility…and Lacey tends to work these dramatic displays into her choreography. I’m still in awe of the spin she did in a bow & arrow stretch position with Kyle in their rumba (3:22 mark). And short legs aren’t necessarily a deal-breaker in the professional world, either – Latin competitor Elena Kryuchkova barely stood 5’0″ (much, much shorter than her partner!), and didn’t have very long legs, and was still a world champion.

I have to wonder if some of you have gotten sneaky and are just googling hilariously inappropriate things in hopes that it will lead you here and make the SERU (search engine round-up) each week But alas, it popped up, it was amusing, and I had to share…so here’s the cheesecake from October of last year where Heidi & I discussed the “bulge” at length. Other highights from that particular edition were Margaret & Louis’ costumes, the smoke monster, and Val vs. Mark…let us reminisce. DWTS12 Week 9 Search Engine Round-Up

It’s that time of the week, kids – time to see what burning questions are leading you guys here for answers Let’s see what kind of light I can shed here…oh, and just in case you missed it the past 2 weeks: Hines is STILL not married

What did Bruno say to Karina?/What did Bruno call Karina?

It was bleeped out during the telecast (5:41 mark), and a friend of ours who happened to be in the studio audience that night could not hear what exactly was said over the crowd booing – so this is my best guess, given the context. I think it was something along the lines of “You were too rough with your p*ssy!”, and it was directed more at Ralph, meaning he lead Karina (who was wearing a leopard-print bodysuit) too hard or was just out-of-control with his partnering…hence, Bruno backpedaling after the fact and saying “I mean pussycat!” (of which, I’m sure you know, there are none on the show – but how awesome would it be if there was? How bout replacing Carrie Ann with a cute little kitten and letting him judge? ). Anywho…I think Karina thought it was more directed at her…and a certain part of her anatomy, which is why she (rightfully, IMO) got offended. Bottom line: whether Bruno really did mean pussycat (psssh, riiiight) or not, it was a poor choice of words with an ambiguous context – otherwise, the Muppets up in the sound booth wouldn’t have bleeped it out. And here’s a tidbit of probably-worthless-but-still-kinda-interesting trivia – this isn’t the first time Bruno has dropped the p-word when critiquing one of Karina’s routines. He got bleeped for saying something about consuming it in reference to Mario & Karina’s rumba in season 6 – and I don’t think he was talking about Chinese food. No wonder Karina’s touchy about that word…

Did Mark Ballas get married?

I think I can state with 99.9% certainty that the answer is no. Why? Because I doubt he would be able to shut up about it if he had. The .1% uncertainty is just in case he’s keeping this ace in his back pocket for publicity at a later date. Moving right along…

Did Kym Johnson have plastic surgery?

Personally, I doubt it, but short of Kym acknowledging it or denying it in an interview, I can’t confirm one way or another. Maybe Liz can help with this one. I know there was some debate in the comments a previous post about her maybe having a brow lift, but looking at the picture in question from last season and comparing it to pictures of her now, it looks like she may have just had a very overzealous brow waxing back then, or maybe some Botox (which has now worn off) to perk things up a bit. Not that I think she needs it, because she looks FABULOUS However, if she did, no biggie – she wouldn’t have been the only DWTS pro to go under the knife. Karina has publicly acknowledged getting a rhinoplasty and has expressed great satisfaction with the results.

Tayla

Definitely cool to see so many people interested in Tayla Kelley – the young girl that performed with Lacey & Chelsie on the results show this week. Tayla suffers from primary immunodeficiency, which is a genetic disorder that prevents her immune system from functioning properly. Simple infections that a person with a normal immune system can easily fight off can be deadly for someone with Tayla’s condition – which makes me think it’s all the more amazing & admirable that she is able to handle the rigors of being a dedicated dancer. As much as I may hate “filler” on the results show – I definitely don’t mind hearing stories of triumph like Tayla’s

Kym Johnson injury video

Ugh. *stomach churning* I’m gonna give you guys the benefit of the doubt and assume that the reason you’re searching this is because you just don’t know how Kym got injured…because seriously, this video is hard to watch – at least for me, as I’ve had a family member who became a quadriplegic after falling & hitting his neck at home. But alas, here you go – don’t say I didn’t warn you that it was rather graphic. If nothing else, I guess it serves as a warning to anyone on the show that they should NOT be trying this stuff at home…or anywhere else.

DWTS Season 13 casting rumors

Glad to know you guys are chomping at the bit just as much as we are to get this wretched season over with and move onto a better one Generally, the casting rumors for the fall season are pretty intermittent & vague until mid-July (about a month before the cast annoucement) and then they come pouring in like crazy the week before it. As of right now, I have only heard 2 names, and both sound like they’re pretty unlikely – Regis Philbin & Donnie Wahlberg. Last week Vogue reported that he announced on Live with Regis & Kelly that he’d been asked to be on season 13. He seems like a big fan of the show (and is a huge Derek fanboy ), but he’s allegedly not leaving Regis & Kelly until November & he’s had quite a few health problems in the past few years – I just don’t see it happening. At least not next season. As for Donnie, the campaign for him being on the show cropped up after his pretty impressive dance with Peta on the week 5 results show. Someone started a petition (which rarely works when trying to get the attention of the casting directors – sorry kids), and both Donnie & Peta have publicly said that they’d LOVE to dance together next season. However, two (ok, more like 3) big hurdles to overcome: Donnie is tied up with Blue Bloods, which just got picked up for a 2nd season, and films on-location in NY. It’s also on CBS, and to my knowledge, they’ve never asked a someone from a current primetime show on a rival network to be on DWTS. I doubt that’s going to change anytime soon. But hey, stay tuned – there are sure to be plenty more rumors to come in the next few months…just search “DWTS13 Casting Rumors” and any that we find are bound to pop up.

Travis Wall boyfriend

Errr…not sure why some of you are looking for this info here, considering Travis has had a much bigger presence on SYTYCD than on DWTS…but it keeps cropping up, so I’ll entertain the notion anyway. From what I can tell, he’s never publicly said he’s gay, but I do remember there being some pictures posted on his MySpace page a few years ago (they’ve since been taken down) that caused quite a bit of speculation, so my official opinion on the matter is that he’s most likely gay. As for the identity of his boyfriend – well, if he’s not really, officially out, I doubt he’s going to be introducing any guys as his significant other. However, a quick sweep of some SYTYCD forums (which one should ALWAYS take with a grain of salt) seems to indicate that Travis had a boyfriend named Anthony back when he was a contestant on SYTYCD in season 2 (summer of ’06) that somehow stabbed him in back by posting pictures of the two of them online with the caption “me & my bf travis wall”. Ouch – I think being forced out of the closet against your will is just plain cruel. DWTS Who Wore it Better? Part XI – Season 12 Thus Far Edition

With a mere 4 weeks of competition complete, we’ve already seen a slew of costume dittos from the pros and also the troupe this season. Let’s have a look, shall we? It’ll give Heidi & I some time to come up with this week’s cheesecake…and I’m sure it will be a doozy, after suffering through “American Night”-mare.

Battle of the lime green, jeweled & feathered Latin costume: Peta in the “On the Floor” pro/troupe dance this season vs. Kym’s pro dance with Tony to Santana in season 11

Courtney: Hmmm. Tough one for me. I like Petra’s hair better, but I think the color looks better with Kym’s skin. Although I’m not wild about that thing they’ve got going across the midriff on Kym…glad they omitted it for Peta.

Heidi: Peta is certainly beautiful, and looks good in the dress, but I don’t think the Awesome Boobage of Kym can’t be beaten – by anyone. Add in that her darker tan compliments the dress and there you go. I do see something resembling a crotch doilie though and it’s giving me flashbacks.

Courtney: I was thinking more “feather loincloth”, but crotch doily works too

The winner: The Awesome Boobage prevails once more

Battle of the beaded black mesh Latin dress with plunging neckline, redux: Karina’s pro dance with Louis to Jennifer Hudson this season vs. Anna’s pre-season photo shoot with Sugar Ray this season vs. Kym’s cha-cha with the Hoff in season 11

Heidi: Again, I have to go with Kym for reasons previously stated. Plus, I think Anna is too pale in her photo and with the red hair it just washes her out. Karina looks amazing, but I would go with Kym.

Courtney: The problem with this dress is that it’s not a typical “Anna” dress – she seems to tend more towards the conservative, less va-va-va-voom Latin costumes these days, so she’s out. I loved the way the dress looked on Karina while she was moving - quite quickly, I might add, which is why it was hard for Heidi to get a clear screen cap – but alas, Kym reigns supreme once more with her sex kitten hair, smoky eye makeup, and perpetual Awesome Boobage

The winner: You don’t mess with the Awesome Boobage.

Battle of the hot pink fringed Latin dress, redux: Chelsea’s pre-season photo shoot with Mark this season vs. Lacey’s Team Kristi cha-cha with Kyle in season 11 vs. Anna in the “On the Floor” pro/troupe dance this season

Courtney: Poor Anna always seems to get stuck with the 3 & 4-peat costumes God love her…she’s cute, but I’m not wild about the hot pink paired with her red hair. Sticking with cute-as-a-button Chelsea on this one…

Heidi: Ummm….not Lacey? I think I lean toward Chelsea, as I think her hair style compliments the “cute” of the dress.

The winner: Chelsea’s still pretty in pink.

Battle of the red & gold paso doble dress: Karina’s paso doble with Mario in season 6 vs. Oksana’s paso doble demo with Kiki this season

Heidi: I’m going to go with Karina based on skin tone and, even though it’s not a fair comparison since we’re looking at stills, the movement she achieved with this dress. Although that could also be due to what appears to be a different cut to the bottom portion – did they remove a slit and the gold trim for Oksana?

Courtney: Oksana keeps reminding us of how she’s a “powerhouse in a small package”, so I’m guessing they probably had to hem this dress for her – hence, the disappearance of the gold trim at the bottom of the dress. Looks like they also omitted the gold belt (likely to make her torso appear longer) and may have sewn up a few of the slits & jeweled the bodice to balance the look. A good example of how some minor tweaking can really change the look of a costume But I agree – I like the look better on Karina. Just works better with her skin tone and her build.

The winner: Oksana the powerhouse-in-a-small-package is no match for powerhouse-in-any-package Karina!

Battle of the pink & red ruffled Latin dress: Oksana in the “On the Floor” pro/troupe dance this season vs. Cheryl’s samba with Gilles in season 8

Courtney: I feel like a lot of Cheryl’s costumes in season 8 were similar to this – ruffly, midriff-y, and brightly-colored. I guess she was maybe celebrating her weight loss (and departure from the frumpy costumes she wore in season 7 to cover up her weight gain) with all of these loud dresses…but it just doesn’t feel like something that really fits her personality well. For that reason, I’m gonna go with Oksana…seems like something she’d actually pick out for herself.

Heidi: Hmmmm….I think I have to go with Oksana and I’m not really sure why I like it better on her. Overall, I don’t much care for the dress at all, but Oksana wears it well.

The winner: Everyone’s favorite pint-sized mail-order bride – Oksana

Battle of the red & orange fringed Latin dress: Melissa’s would-be jive with Tony in season 8 vs. Lacey in the “On the Floor” pro/troupe dance this season

Heidi: Again, a dress that I don’t care for much – but believe it or not I’m going to go with Lacey. Again, not a fair comparison because Lacey is benefiting from movement whereas Melissa is stationary. That said, Lacey’s hair is gawdawful. But then, Melissa looks like a school marm posing as a hot Latin momma and failing miserably. So, it’s really a double fail, but less on Lacey. This time.

Courtney: Poor Melissa – she didn’t even have a chance to show us this dress in motion (this was the week that she injured herself and was unable to do her jive, so they showed us the footage of the camera blocking instead). She just wore it on the results show for the sake of consistency. Not that I’m too disappointed – this dress reminds me of a Muppet. Or rather, the leftover trimmings of a Muppet on the cutting room floor of Jim Henson studios But weird & Muppet-y fits right in Lacey’s wheelhouse, so I’m gonna go with her as well.

The winner: Lacey rocks the “leftover Muppet” look well.

Battle of the pink ruffled mesh rumba dress & the jeweled & ruffled black mesh samba dress: Lacey’s rumba & samba with Kyle in season 11 vs. 2 wardrobe assistants futzing around backstage this season

Courtney: Two of Lacey’s weirder costumes from last season, fo sho…but these boys are fearlessly rocking them. The Asian guy dominates in this one – he’s even got the artsy Latin hand gesture down cold! Other guy gets points for trying, but the socks, dude? As for Lacey…she never stood a chance against either of these fashion plates

Heidi: The Asian guy, definitely. The other guy would be doing well if not for the white ankle socks.

The winner: Lacey never stood a chance against the fabulosity of these two

DWTS 10: Aiden Turner Sent Home

I hate that Aiden was sent home…he was just starting to come out of his shell! He and Edyta were fabulous together and had such a great relationship. And I think Edyta needs to win one of these seasons…she’s the only pro that’s been on DWTS since season 1 and hasn’t won!

DWTS Week 4: THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE INCREDIBLY HOT!

After missing a week, I’m back with the good, the bad and the incredibly hot! In my defense, I thought Week 3 was incredibly boring and the most exciting dance was between Chelsie and Derek!

THE GOOD
I can’t get enough of Damian! He’s so adorable and works so well with Pam that their chemistry is undeniable and fun to watch! The only thing that gets me about Pam is during interviews when she plays the ‘innocent, sexy bombshell’! This rumba could’ve gone one of two ways and thank goodness it went to the vulnerable route! It was elegant and beautiful to watch and that split at the end! LOVE IT!

THE BAD
I have such mixed emotions about Kate but one thing is for sure, she is a disaster on the dance floor. Part of me feels bad for her because her life is constantly played out in the media but the other part of me just thinks she’s a ruthless bitch that needs to be sent packing. Either way, this dance was a mess but Kate was finally having fun.

THE INCREDIBLY HOT
I think I have fallen in love with Evan! He is so full of life and looks effortless when he dances with Anna! I love watching his packages when he’s wearing his hat, which makes him look sort of badass….as badass as you can get when on the SOI tour and practicing for DWTS!

Joanna Krupa Sent Home on DWTS

Is anyone else pissed that Joanna was sent home last night? I think she should have been in the finals no questions asked. She was sexy, elegant, and amazing to watch all season and to come this close just kills me. And with Derek’s hot choreography I’m pretty sure their freestyle would’ve been HOT!
