I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing with the Stars Season 26, Week 1 – LIVE BLOG (SPOILERS)

All right all ya’ll – check in if you’re watching this season with us. I don’t want to be all alone here, bemoaning the crap or greatness – take your pick. 🙂

T-minus 15 minutes….

Ooooooo…..interesting and dramatic opening!!

Okay, I loved that in all it’s cheesy glory. 🙂

Chris is cute as hell and has some potential. Not necessarily for dancing but….potential. 😉

Damn. That was a lot of Salsa and a lot of lifts for week 1!!

Close your shirt, Bruno. Chris getting good comments from the judges for the most part.

And he pulls three 7s! Kinda predictable, but worthy.

Kareeeeeeeeem!!! He is the legend and the big name for the main demo for this show. And if anyone can work with this Lindsey can. Read more..

DWTS Season 26, Week 1 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

I knew there was something I was forgetting to do…. 🙂 Who’s dancing what? Or..Who’s dancing TO what? Or both.

Voting Note: As we reported a couple weeks ago, there are some changes in the voting, particularly for week 1, this season. Here’s what the ABC.com press release has to say about it.

For week one, the evening’s eliminations will be based on live viewer votes cast during the show’s live broadcast in the EDT/CDT time zones, along with the judges’ scores. During the live season premiere broadcast in the EDT/CDT time zones at 8:00 p.m. EDT/7:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, April 30, viewers may cast their votes for their favorite couples, with these votes helping determine the couples who will move on to the next episode. This vote will be online only via ABC.com, will open at the top of the live show and end shortly after the last couple dances. Then, at the end of the episode, overnight voting will open for phone, ABC.com and Facebook, which will factor into the week two eliminations. Toll-free phone voting will be open nationwide from the end of the live show until 5:00 a.m. EDT/2:00 a.m. PDT on Tuesday. Online voting at ABC.com at http://dwtsvote.abc.go.com/ and on Facebook at http://bit.ly/2o1VO7b will open at the end of the live show and closes at 10:00 p.m. EDT/7:00 p.m. PDT on Tuesday. During each voting window, when voting online at ABC.com or Facebook, viewers can reallocate their votes until the voting window closes.

Heidi Comment – if you are dancing LAST, it’s an extreme disadvantage this time out, so don’t get excited if your favorite is in the “pimp spot”. This first week, at least, is no pimpage at all in going last.

ETA: Tentative dance order for the first four couples, per Rana on Twitter

ETA2: Full dance order is posted below thanks to Lori!

PureDWTS Season 24, Week 3 – Did Michelle Visage Accidentally Spill the Beans on Charo’s Elimination???

I’m labeling this one as a big “make of it what you will”, because I’m not 100% clear on what conclusions we could draw from it…

About 40ish minutes into tonight’s show, one of our readers, Nathan, noticed a strange tweet from Michelle Visage, Rupaul bosom buddy and one of the judges from Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Now normally, I wouldn’t think much of this, since it’s possible she could have read some article or blog predicting it would be Charo that got the axe.  But considering that Ru himself was in the audience last week, cheering on Charo (who he’s known for years), is it possible that Michelle might have had some inside info? The original tweet has since been deleted, but you can still see some of her responses.

Given that Charo allegedly was threatening to quit last week, is it maybe possible that she opted to bow out…and this was how they saved face? By pretending she actually got eliminated? Or did they maybe just give her a heads-up that she was out, in the hopes that she played nice tonight? It could be nothing, but the source and the timing did seem a bit fishy to me.

Thoughts?

Dancing With The Stars Tom Bergeron Nominated For 2012 Critics Choice Award

Not sure why Dancing With The Stars isn’t nominated for “Best Competition Reality Series” in the 2012 Critics Choice Awards, but, give it up to our favorite TV host, Tom Bergeron. If you haven’t heard yet, Tom has been nominated for “Best Reality Show Host” for Dancing With The Stars. Other top hosts nominated in this catagory are Nick Cannon (America’s Got Talent – NBC), Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance – FOX), Phil Keoghan (The Amazing Race – CBS), and RuPaul (RuPaul’s Drag Race – Logo). The Critics’ Choice Television Awards honors programs and performances that aired between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012. Winners of the awards, given away by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, will be announced at a gala awards dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on June 18th, 2012. For a full list of nominations, visit Deadline.com. Note how ABC is in 2nd place with 13 nominations.

I hope Tom wins. He’s so deserving!! Below is one of my favorite Tom Bergeon moments on Dancing With The Stars this past year. I love his golfer reporter voice. He makes this show as enjoyable as the dance couples do….

Do you have a favorite Tom Bergeron moment from this past year? If so, please share.

DWTS 12 End of Season Award Winners – Which Couple Was the Worst Dressed?

John: I’m surprised that Wendy didn’t take all of the cake on this one. I think it was my wife that said she looked like a Drag Queen. I couldn’t stop laughing, because she was right.

Courtney: Thank 8 lb 10 oz baby Jesus I wasn’t alone – I was referring to Wendy as “RuPaul’s long-lost twin” all season long 🙂 And apparently we weren’t the only ones thinking that, John – the guys in my office swore up & down she was a man.  Everything about Wendy was just too much – the huge wig, the 4 sets of false eyelashes (yes kids, according to Melanie Mills, the head DWTS makeup artist, Wendy would wear FOUR sets at a time!), and those monster boobs…they always looked so angry.  I almost think it wasn’t the costumes themselves (ok, maybe the cha-cha one was really & truly BAD) that were so terrible, but just the way she wore them.  Just…no.  Interestingly enough, I was originally not going to include Mark & Chelsea as nominees for the worst dressed couple…but a certain other blogger convinced me they were contenders 😉 And contenders they were…guess the skulls & chains & weird workout gear & fringe just overshadowed some of Chelsea’s prettier outfits, such as her foxtrot gown (loved it), and cha-cha costume.  Rounding out the “other” category: looks like a bunch of you answered with just one name (“Kirstie”, “Hines”, “Maks”), which doesn’t count because I asked which COUPLE was the worst dressed *tosses out those votes*; looks like Kirstie & Maks (5), Hines & Kym (2), Chris & Cheryl (1), none (1), and…hehe…Tom & Brooke (1).  Now while I agree that “Broke Burke” had some questionable ensembles this season, The Berg is never anything short of perfection for moi 😉

Marianya: You know what? I don’t remember what Wendy wore… maybe it was so bad that I blocked it out of memory. I just remember that all I saw were boobs, boobs and more boobs… and you know I have big boobs too, but I try to be more subtle about them and use them when absolutely necessary… Wendy’s were just flying all over the place, without any control. I think that’s why I can’t remember what she wore because her assets just trumped them… dressing sexy is good… looking like a drag queen ain’t.

Heidi: Personally, I think Wendy’s attitude made her look worse than she was probably actually dressed. That air of superiority. You know when you meet a hot guy and find out he’s a total jerk and suddenly he doesn’t look that hot to you anymore?? Like that. 🙂

Vogue: The worst dressed? Mark and Chelsea for me. Yes, I was the “certain blogger” (I’m innocent, I’m innocent! lol) who told Courtney to add them to this Poll!! Although I have no issues with Guy Liner, Mark over killed it. I was annoyed with Mark’s hats and black and white SHOES all Season too. The beat all was the work out outfits that didn’t match their dance and TOTALLY GAWDY lights on their shoes, etc. at the end! What the ??? I still can’t get over that. 😯
