Sharna Burgess Writes On Last Night’s Dances On Dancing With The Stars And More

Sharna Burgess has written a new blog at Closer Weekly. She writes of the challenges of putting together her and Noah’s routines for Dancing With The Stars Week 7. She also talks on her “saddest moment” last night which is the same as many of ours.

Once Noah put on his costume he fell perfectly into character with such confidence and swag. He truly held his own while having the troupe dancing around him. He wants to continue in the compeition so badly — I couldn’t ask for a better partner. One of my favorite moments from past week was when I came to rehearsal to find out that Noah had arrived early to practice his steps by himself. He makes me so proud!

My saddest moment this week was seeing Mark Ballas and Willow Shields go home. I was shocked, as she has been so strong this season — especially since she’s only 14-years-old! Mark’s dances have been so creative and I am so proud of what he has achieved.

Next week’s dance theme is ‘America’s Choice’ — and we will be dancing the Tango to ‘Geronimo’ by Sheppard. I’m so happy we get to dance another traditional ballroom dance! Send us your thoughts and ideas for the dance concept via Twitter and Instagram. There are also trio dances next week and we have Emma Slater as our partner!

PureDWTS Season 20, Week 7 – Power Rankings

Before I start in on everything else, I have to get this off my chest: poor Willow :-( Say what you will about “this is what happens when you put a 14-year-old on an adult show!” or “she should have prepared herself!”, but I think back to what a naive, insecure girl I was at 14, and I just cannot help but feel for her – she had done so well and seemed so excited to be there, only to be told “Sorry, not enough people like you enough to vote for you.  Bye-bye!” We knew a shocking elim was probably going to come at some point, what with the overlapping fanbases of some of the couples this season…I guess I had just hoped that it wouldn’t be HER. So please, if you have an ounce of compassion in you – please go tweet (or Instagram) some encouraging words to Willow – it’s tough enough to be a teenage girl in this world, let alone one who just got the rug pulled out from under her on national television.

As for the rest of the night – maybe I just got spoiled in previous seasons, with fun decade-themed dances like Nicole’s 50’s paso and Erin’s 80’s rumba (I still giggle at Maks in the Don Johnson costume!), but tonight felt like an “Eras Night” only in name: so many of the songs (and sets, and costumes) didn’t really seem to reflect the era they were meant to, so I guess I kinda said “Why even bother?” to some of it.  Oh well – probably yet another hastily-thrown-together theme to cover their asses when plans changed.  As for the judges – they’re still doing some fishy sh*t.  They’re just taking turns on who gets to play good cop, bad cop each week. Derek Hough Writes On His Injury, Dancing With The Stars, Healing, And More

Copied and pasted from Pure Derek Hough. If you’d like to know the latest and even more about Derek’s condition see this link.

Derek has a written a new blog at TV Guide. He talks of his “fluke” accident, his injury, and what’s happening on Dancing With The Stars. “Withdrawing is not an option” and he’s “taking it one day at a time”. Read on for more. What a Guy…and it’s so good to hear from him!

The good news is I’m healing quickly. I don’t need surgery or anything. I’m already off the crutches, which is really good. I’ve been doing physiotherapy and rehab, and it’s very promising. I’m just trying to be careful because I have a busy year still left. I just want to make sure I’m 100 percent in shape. I talked to my physio and he said, “There’s gonna come a time where you feel good and you feel like you can dance. But remember you still have a tear in your ankle and a broken toe.” I’m trying to be smart and intelligent about it and make sure I truly am feeling good. It’s one thing if you heal something like this and you’re just going about the day, walking again, but dancing is a different beast. You twist and turn and jump and flip. It’s a whole different level of recovery that you need to achieve.

Nastia’s been rehearsing with Sasha this week. I’m still choreographing the routine and I’m in all the rehearsals. We’re figuring out some different little things to do. We’ll make it fun and interesting. Sasha’s doing a great job. It’s cool because we have the modern Charleston this week and he’s got some good ideas.

Withdrawing was never an option. Dancing with the Stars is not about me or any pro. It’s about the celebrities. It’s their journey. I’m part of the journey, but it’s not my journey. I want Nastia to have the best possible chance of winning. You know, she makes it look easy, but we put the work in. You see some of it, but I think a lot of people overlook the amount of work we put in and how much goes into putting together a routine and teaching and learning it. She’s a very hard worker and very determined, and I definitely feel like she can go all the way. There are other factors in play, but I feel like she can win.

I’m just kind of taking it one day at a time right now. I have never broken a bone in my body before, so that’s the only thing I’m not used to because I literally can’t push through it. Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and be magically healed! I’m really doing everything I can to recover as quickly as possible. I’m still doing cryotherapy, taking some herbs, I have topical medication that makes the skin heal faster. Whatever it takes! I’ll probably never look at ice the same way again though! I know you’re thinking I should’ve just asked someone to get ice for me, but you know, that’s me in a nutshell. Instead, I hobble and fall down the stairs! It’s like the universe was saying “sit down” the first time and I didn’t listen, so then it was like, “OK, now you really have sit down!” It sucks, but there’s always a reason for everything. I always say life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you, so I just have to wait this out.

Pros and Celebrities Talk About Derek Hough And His Injury At DWTS 10th Anniversary Party – Video

Copied and pasted from Pure Derek Hough where you can read all the latest on Derek Hough, his injury, and dancing status:

At the Dancing With The Stars 10th Anniversary party, some of the celebs and pros were asked on Derek and his injury. You can listen below. I like what Allison, Emma and Katherine Jenkins had to say the most. They seemed to really care about Derek and what happened. I don’t agree with Noah and how Derek got his injury because he’s “overworked”. His injury happened because it was a freak accident like anyone could experience whether they are working hard or doing nothing at all.

So, who plans to go?

ETA: Entertanment Eeekly has posted on the tour with a few more details and quotes from Val and Melissa.

“Every time I think I’ll never do this again they suck me back in!” said Rycroft, who has been a competitor twice on the show. The singer said she’s excited to travel by bus and “live like rock stars” with her husband and two children.

Those joining Rycroft on the tour include Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Witney Carson, Peta Murgatroyd, Artem Chigvintsev, Keo Motsepe, Emma Slater, Brittany Cherry, Alan Bersten, Jenna Johnson and Sasha Farber. DWTS Season 20 – Professional Dancer Announcement LIVE BLOG

Or sort a live anyway. Everything hinges on how they decide to do this. Not to mention that it’s 6am here and “Live” isn’t a word that describes me at this hour. I will do my best to put all the info that comes out into this post. They keep hyping that it’s going to be “BIG” and all other kinds of adjectives that probably won’t live up to the hype – but we will see soon enough. :-) Scroll to the bottom of the post for the live updates that aren’t actual Pro names.

And here are your Pros – supposedly this is IT:

Male Pros
Val – IN
Tony – IN
Mark – IN
Artem – IN

Female Pros
Sharna – IN
Peta – IN
Emma – IN
Witney – IN
Allison – IN
Kym – IN

ETA: Teasing the announcement at 7:20ish. :::sigh:::

ETA2: I’ve done a great job on my eyebrows while waiting for this announcement…. ;-)

ETA3: Definitely Kym Johnson in silhouette!! Damn, missed the baby pix. Court is saying one is Mark and there’s a little blonde boy.  And Emma. :-)

ETA4: I’ve gotten used to the far superior CBS This Morning which doesn’t have nearly the commercials and a lot more actual news.  GMA is….not good.

ETA5: I don’t think those fans are that good – might be right on Val, but the other one looked like Artem to me. Love Melissa’s haircut.

ETA 6: Lost my stream, relying on Court. Val is for sure. They are claiming this is Len’s last “year”.

ETA 7: Still with the bigger and better tag line. Yeah. Sure. Switch up week is back.

ETA8: Hmmmm…..said there were four in studio and they have six more. ONLY TEN???

ETA9: If this is it, there’s going to be trouble on twitter. :-)

ETA10: Questions to the pros. Val’s dream partner. Answer: His season 20 partner. Question to Sharna: How do you prepare for the season? Answer: Picking music, etc.

Well everyone, discuss!! Is this it for the pro dancers this season? Are they holding a few back because Celebs haven’t signed yet? What do you think of this cast?

ETA11: Vogue here. According to US Weekly, TWO more pros will be announced at a later date!

ETA12: The Official Site has announced there will be two more pros announced later. There is a great write up on the ten pros announced today at the link too.

ETA13: ABC Media Net released an official announcement of the 10 pros. They also release info on the theme nights one of which includes “Spring Break” night. WHA?? 8O

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
