DWTS Season 18, Week 8: Who’s Dancing What…and When?? (SPOILERS)

Well, let’s hope that this week is finally Charlie’s week. Quickstep should be great for him. If he does another great dance only to get hosed by the judges in their quest to get Meryl and Maks the MBT – well, I might have to write a really long, scathing rant post that blisters the ass of any producer that comes close to this site. (waves) Seriously, this show is pissing me off big time. Have they learned nothing from their other pimpees, who include the likes of Chelsea Kane and William Levy – that reminds me, I need to finish my post entitled “Winners Never Pimp and Pimpers Never Win.” For you reading-impaired shippers of the quivering loins with your heads in the clouds – this has nothing to do with Meryl herself, or her ability. It has to do with the single minded moronic quest of the judges and producers to make sure that Meryl and Maks win. If she’s all that….LET IT HAPPEN.

Anyway, I hope Amy does well on the AT, but her injuries worry me. James is a big question mark for me on a dance like V.Waltz. Candace should do well as she could be in hold a lot of the time. Danica and Val?? Who the hell knows? Meryl and Maks? Tums are your friend. πŸ˜‰

ETA #1: So Danica’s song is the only one I immediately recognized from this week’s list of individual dances…the rest are more obscure.Β  And rumor has it that Grandma Chmerkovskiy flew in to observe one of Maks & Val’s dual rehearsal sessions…that ought to make for an interesting rehearsal package πŸ˜› -Court-

ETA #2: I’m back from out of town and ready to rumble. There are going to be ground rules for Monday night – I’m going to post them here and reiterate them on Monday night so none of you forget. First, DO NOT constantly hit refresh. Read, comment if you want, then walk away for a few minutes. There’s no possible way for you to read anything new if everyone keeps clicking refresh. Two – DO NOT use the comment section like it’s twitter. If people start posting one-liners, I’m going to start deleting. If I have to delete you several times in a row, I’m putting you on moderation. You need context. Think of it this way – if someone comes along two hours later and reads your comment, will they be able to tell what you’re talking about? If the answer is no, you’re doing it wrong. The last couple Monday nights have been out of control – ya’ll need to start practicing some simple netiquette. Look it up. πŸ˜€ ~Heidi

ETA #3: Okay, so the “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” IS the Lorde version, as someone earlier suggested. Other tidbits we’ve heard? James is doing pretty well with a standard Viennese waltz, with at least one cool move where James is holding Peta’s leg over her head. Amy is having trouble with the AT. πŸ™ Whether it’s due to her lack of feet, her injury or just the lack of rehearsal, it’s hard to say. Also, as I alluded to in the comments, all the pros are pretty pissed that Abby Lee Miller is judging them on Monday night.

ETA #4: Anybody else think that Candace hit the song/dance combo jackpot?? πŸ™‚ With Mark as her choreographer, this should be a really cute dance.

ETA #5: Some last minute intel on the various dances – all sound interesting:
* Apparently Meryl & Maks’ rumba isn’t all that unorthodox – though parts of it look like a couple fighting. So maybe think less “protesting the situation in Ukraine” and more “wife working up the courage to leave an abusive husband”? There’s also a part where she rolls around on the floor.

* Amy is using a stool for part of her Argentine tango – the question is: will the judges like it, or dock her for it? (Heidi says “docked” since it’s about time the judges start angling for their favorite finalists – tonight will be telling)

* Source says his/her least favorite dance this week is Danica’s tango – wayyy too slow and weird.

* Apparently, Candace’s foxtrot has a comedic storyline to it – might be starting off sitting on a bench.

* Charlie’s quickstep is “cute and fun” and actually has a section of tango in the middle – will get him hosed or praised? He seems to be struggling a bit with the technique and hold – we’ll see if he gets it fixed before showtime. (Again, Heidi votes “hosed” – just cuz that’s what they do to Charlie, whether he deserves it or not.)

* Looks like Peta & James may have omitted the leg in the air trick from their Viennese waltz – it was a potential “lift risk”.

* All of the duels are looking good – our source particularly praised Amy & James’ jive duel.

Amy and Derek – Argentine Tango (song: “Heart Upon My Sleeve” by Avicii )

James and Peta – Viennese Waltz (song: “6-2” by Marie Miller )
1-800-868-3402

Charlie and Sharna – Quickstep (song: “My Heart Goes Boom” by Miss Li )
1-800-868-3412

Candace and Mark – Foxtrot (song: “That’s It, I Quit, I’m Movin’ On” by Sam Cooke )
1-800-868-3407

Danica and Val – Tango (song: “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Lorde )
1-800-868-3403

Meryl and Maks – Rumba (song: “Read All About It, Part III” by Emeli SandΓ© )
1-800-868-3406

Round two, as you all know by now, is three sets of “Duos” dancing together. (:::sigh:::) The Duos are:

James/Amy – dancing Jive (song: “Ain’t Nothing Wrong with That” by Robert Randolph & the Family Band )

Charlie/Candace – dancing contemporary (song: “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith )

Meryl/Danica – dancing samba (song: “I Luh Yah Papi” by J. Lo feat. French Montana )

DWTS Season 18, Week 7: Who’s Dancing What…and When?? (SPOILERS)

A comment before we get to this weeks dances… if you claim you hate this site, and then copy what we write verbatim (or copy Courtney’s tweets verbatim), post it to your skating forum or Maks tumblr and take credit for the info, you are a sad, poor thing. Not only are you a hypocrite who spends way more time here than your little friends realize (thanks for the hits!!), but hopefully now your little friends know you got it all from here. πŸ˜€ Ya stole it with nary a mention of those of us who actually told you what to say. Tisk tisk. Do you think we don’t see?? Honeys, every time you visit the site, we know where you came from. πŸ˜‰ We appreciate your visits…we’ll put you on blast next time, we appreciate you so much.

Now, on to some other stuff. NeNe is apparently playing a Madam trying to prevent the randy Tony from getting to her girls. Why do I sense multiple, scantily clad females in this dance? And why have all the dances suddenly become “super sized”?? Rarely do I like it. Val’s cups and saucers were cute and Derek’s wedding. That’s it.

Charlie has a song, apparently, that is not even remotely Latin. Why does this guy keep getting screwed?? I don’t get it. Can we have some normal music please? I don’t like Amy’s song either, so there you go. Read more..

DWTS Season 18, Week 6: Who’s Dancing What…and When?? (SPOILERS)

So, let me get this straight. Charlie, whose partner is likely to be quite good at Jazz and Contemporary, gets both dances, while Meryl (whose partner is likely to NOT be good at either Jazz or Contemporary) gets neither, yet gets to do both Argentine Tango and regular Tango?? Um, sure, she nearly got a perfect score on AT, so let’s give her Tango. Sure. And what’s with all the Cha Cha’s in Week 6?? Really not liking what the theme weeks are doing to the dances.

Anyway, below are the dances. If there is a song listed as “Music Guess” that means that either the celeb or pro gave what appears to be a strong hint.

ETA: Below is my guess on the order. Just a guess – no insider info. πŸ™‚

Danica and Val – Cha Cha Cha (Music Guess: “I wanna dance with somebody” by Whitney Houston Β )

Meryl and Maks – Tango (Music Guess: “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris Β )

DWTS Season 18, Week 5: Who’s Dancing What…and When?? (SPOILERS)

Disney week? Okay. I’m not as jazzed as everyone else, but I do like Prince Charming. But just who is going to BE Prince Charming – that is the question. πŸ™‚ Actually, it might be obvious from the list below….

And Courtney got her Wish!!! πŸ˜€

Note – these are in no particular order. Yet.

DWTS Season 18, Week 4: Who’s Dancing What…and With WHO?? (SPOILERS)

So, as I had predicted but had hoped to be wrong, the producers did what ever they wanted in terms of the pairings. They will find some way to explain it away, but there is video evidence that you could use twitter to vote (at the 4:14 mark) – so don’t buy that excuse. These are the pairings THEY wanted to see, so they made it happen. Also don’t buy the scheduling excuse – there is one change they could have made to not upset one of their “stars” but chose not to do it. But you know what? I’m pretty sure that it will turn out to be very interesting. And the potentially upset “star” in question ain’t so upset. Let me just say this:

Tony IS already upset. πŸ˜€

Karma is a bitch and this may not be the trainwreck they hoped for. Anyway, Courtney and I have lots of other little details and we’re hoping to find out more. For now, here are your new pairings (from what we understand, anyway) and a couple dances.

ETA: So, Danica and Maks are NOT getting along. Apparently, the old Maks (“Just do it”) is back.

ETA2: Apparently, Nene is surprised. In a good way. πŸ™‚ And Courtney tells me that there are no duplicate dances this week. Every couple has a different dance.

ETA3: The number of question marks is directly proportional to how sure we are that someone has a given dance. Or is that directly DISproportional?? I’m tired. πŸ™‚ Anyway, the more question marks it has, the less sure we are that that’s the Β dance they have. Β Three ??? means we arrived at them by process of elimination. Β Also adding – Tony is apparently not mad at Derek but at the producers for the dance given to Derek and Nene.

ETA4: The rumba for Charlie appears to be confirmed.

ETA5: Apparently Meryl & Val ain’t getting along great, either – he seems a bit starstruck by her, but he also seems to have zero patience with her. Their routine is really, really fast and poor Meryl can’t seem to do anything right for him.

Charlie and Peta are getting along great and had their dance choreographed by Thursday so they’ve had lots of time to polish it.

According to our source, these are the dances. The couples that are doing well are Derek/Nene, Tony/Candace, Charlie/Peta and Drew/Witney. The couples that are struggling are Meryl/Val, Danica/Maks, Cody/Sharna and Amy/Mark. James/Cheryl are apparently neither good nor bad. Whether we see any of this will be very interesting. A bunch of people who change the voting rules when it’s time to count the votes isn’t above changing the narrative in the editing room, are they?? I expect we’ll see the opposite of what we’ve heard when it comes to Meryl and Charlie – and possibly Nene, mainly because they paired NeNe and Derek to see problems. Question is – did those couples doing well give them ANYTHING to use?? And did those couples doing poorly give them anything to make it look positive? I guess we find out tomorrow. πŸ™‚

Charlie and Peta – Rumba
1-800-868-3412

Danica and Maks – Jive (Music: “Love Me Right!” by The Swag Geeks & Brook Penning )
1-800-868-3403

James and Cheryl – Tango (Music: “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry )
1-800-868-3402

Drew and Witney – Cha Cha
1-800-868-3409

Amy and Mark – Salsa
1-800-868-3410

Candace and Tony – Quickstep (Music: “Ballroom Blitz” by Sweet )
1-800-868-3407

Meryl and Val – Argentine Tango (Music: “Too Close” by Alex Clare )
1-800-868-3406

Cody and Sharna – Foxtrot

NeNe And Derek – Jazz (Music: “Grown Woman” By Beyonce )

DWTS Season 18, Week 3 – Let’s Recap Tonight’s Show! (Spoilers)

Geez. George Pennachio says there is a surprise in the first half hour.

Like we need more surprises. :::sigh:::

I know! Let’s drink every time there is a camera screw up. Wait…I don’t have enough booze….

Great opening dance by James. He got a tiny bit off time in a couple spots….but this guy is a contender, for reals.

ETA: So Billy Dee is out due to injury. No more elimination or not?? I suspect not since they aren’t doing that stupid elmin stuff before each dance, thank god.

Great dance by Nene. And line of the night goes to Derek Hough: “This lil’ munchkin is ready for you!!” Right to Nene. πŸ™‚

ETA2: Forgot to add to my last update that they made it pretty clear that the switch is for one week then they go back to their original partners. It sounds like no more voting – I’m afraid to hope for that to be true.

Liked Danica and Val’s dance very much, but she struck me as a bit melodramatic and not quite real in her package. I’m afraid that’s just her.

ETA3: Beautiful dance by Meryl and Maks but that was in NO WAY a foxtrot…yet no one said a word about it. Bet they would have if Meryl was dancing with Derek. Interesting how now the couples are definitely going back to each other after next week AND they get 10s on a non-foxtrot. I wonder if someone had a fit? πŸ™‚ Besides most of the fans, I mean. I doubt they listen to us, so what happened? Not that I’m complaining about that part – I’m glad.

DWTS Season 18, Week 3: Who’s Dancing What…and When??

Okay, time to start a new week. :::sigh::: Like I said in my Dancing by the Numbers post – did everyone vote or are we going to have a “shocking elimination” somewhere in this mix?? Β It was horrid how they eliminated Diana and I hope they go back to the way they did it last season. This way was just distasteful. Combine that with all the switch up nonsense…well, can we go back to the show I loved, because I neither recognize nor enjoy this one. Hell, it’s Sunday and I haven’t watched all of last week’s show – I keep finding other things to do. Yo, producers – it’s week 3 and I’m already OVER this show – this should be a sign. Every season you lose me a little bit more. But hey, I guess I’m not in your desirable demographic, eh? Tell me – what you gonna do when your undesirables have left you and you still haven’t moved up in the coveted demo?? Get cancelled, that’s what.

But hey, this week is going to be a Full House Reunion week! According to E! Online, anyway:

WTS is planning something of a Full House reunion for Monday’s show, sources excluslively confirm to E! News.

“It’s the Most Memorable Year theme this week,” explains one insider, “and there are definitely going to be a lot of tears, but also some really inspiring stories! Candace Cameron Bure is going to be talking about her days on Full House and the cast is going to be in the audience to support her.”

That’s sure to bring in the young’uns. Um, only NOT. πŸ™‚

So who’s dancing what? Well, DanicaNotADancer was blessed to be given contemporary, although the C-bros don’t really seem to have a great knack for choreographing it. Β Amy is using new feet – swimming feet, to be exact – in this dance which just amazes me. This woman is BRAVE. And I’m a nervous wreck watching her dance, praying something catastrophic doesn’t happen. Knowing Derek, though, he’s probably planned for that. What’s up with all the Jives in “Most Memorable” week?? Is that weird? And I find it a bit funny that Charlie and Meryl have spent the better part of their lives together, yet one is doing Jive and the other is doing Foxtrot. Hmmm…interesting. I also wonder if Meryl will get the comments about the height disparity that Cody and Witney got. Somehow I doubt it. I also see that Tony has Nene in flats again – will they get called on it? Somehow I doubt that too.

I don’t have the best track record when it comes to dance order this season, especially if they keep on the way they did last week. Yikes.

Charlie and Sharna – Jive (Music: Happy by Pharell – I think)

Danica and Val – Contemporary

Amy and Derek – Contemporary

Dancing with the Stars Season 18, Week 2 – Dancing by the Numbers!

Ah, the week of switch up voting. Is someone trying to make me hate this show?? I mean really. Β A logical person can look at the voting contest and sense a total clusterf*^k – that the producers will count the votes in which ever of the 6 or 8 ways gives them the results they desire. But I’ll let Courtney go into more detail on that – it just annoys me, as do the Maks/Val fans who insist that Derek fans are only voting to see Derek with Meryl so he can win again. Uh, hello, but I think most Derek fans neither expect nor WANT him to stay with Meryl. I know I speak for a good number of them when I say – we better get Amy back or there will be hell to pay.

Anyway, the switch up is mildly relevant to this post because the voting for it could play spoiler in one couples hopes for the mirror ball trophy. I always wonder if fans who do the twitter voting are good multi-taskers. Β I know I am, but Vogue says it’s cuz I’m a Gemini…or something like that. πŸ˜€ Anyway, there is some serious spamming going on. Like Design a Dance, it’s not the number of fans you have, but how badly those fans want you to win. Β And how good they are at Spamming. Actually, that could be said for the whole show. Β πŸ™‚ Β So, do we think that someone is going to be a shocking elimination because their fans were too busy tweeting?? Amy? Meryl? Danica? Nene?

I put those four out there because the Derek fans and the C-bros plus Tony fans have been hitting it hard on the twitter vote. Amy has the smallest fanbase on her own, but Derek’s fanbase is the biggest of the pros, judging by Twitter followers. Β I would hazard that Meryl is safe, but it’s possible any of the other three could be a victim, I suppose.

But let’s look at the scores and see just how likely that is.

Week 2 Table 1

Dang, they put a huge spread between Billy Dee and the next lowest group comprised of Nene, Drew and Candace. Β The judges REALLY want to get rid of him. Well, he was not a great dancer. Entertaining, but not great. And oh my gosh am I developing a straight girl crush on Emma or what? She impressed the hell out of me in her work with Billy Dee – seriously, she’s fantastic. Β Anyway, I think the judges have finally realized that if they believe someone is the worst dancer, they can’t be whipping out 6s and 7s left and right, they have to get serious. But where they serious enough?? Β Look at the table below, which gives you all the matchups for week 2.

Week 2 Table 2

You’ll see that Billy Dee needs a seemingly large number of votes to get past either Nene, Drew or Candace – about 24.6k votes per million votes cast. You might remember that he needed nearly 20k to stick around over Diana and Sean last week. What’s another 5k? Β Well, I would hazard a guess that Drew and Candance, at least, are a good bit more popular than either Diana and Sean. But just how popular is Billy Dee?? Β Nene is the one I can’t put my finger on. Β Twitter followers is certainly an indication of popularity, but that does NOT always translate into votes on DWTS. In fact, it often doesn’t.

I could be wrong, but I really see the only one vulnerable to Billy Dee Β is Nene. Β Why? Well, I think that Drew and Candace surely have enough juice to get past Nene and keep Billy Dee away. Β But what about the next level up? Cody? Surely Cody has a shit ton of fangirls and he’ll be safe for a while, right? I think so – but note that Nene only needs 4k votes to go by Cody. Since I don’t think that Nene is doing that much better than Amy and Danica in votes, and Billy Dee certainly isn’t, I think those two, along with Meryl and Charlie are certainly safe. James best keep that score up there or he could be in trouble.

Anyway, no sense in drawing it out. I think that Billy Dee is likely to go home. If the Star Wars fans are out in full force, then I think Nene is the one most likely to leave. Candace wouldn’t shock me, neither would Cody since all the talk seems to be Amy/Meryl/Charlie – but I really think it’s going to be Billy Dee or Nene. Β Billy Dee first, Nene second. Β We find out soon!

PureDWTS Guest Poem: “Swinging On A Star”

And below is Lois with another one of her fabulous poems highlighting Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Week 2….

SWINGING ON A BALLROOM STAR!

The cast opened the show SWINGING ON A BALLROOM STAR!
The shimmied, they shook, swinging to the beat, raising the bar

A gasp was heard far and wide, a double elimination the surprise
The pendulum was swinging, time was short, they did surmise

The couples collected their dancing thoughts they were in shock
The time for two couples was rapidly tick-tick-ticking off the clock

Drew and Cheryl brought down the house with a Jive full of steam
Sharna and Charlie’s Tango emotional, powerful, a beautiful scene

Derek, Amy’s Swing gave the pendulum grand, spectacular ticks
Meryl and Max’s Swing explosive, high powered, full of shticks

Billy Dee, Emma Tangoed with two beautiful dancing girls, so sweet
Peta and James burst on to the floor, stepping heartily to the beat

Diana and Henry Cha-Chaed came out swinging with red-hot flair
Danica and Val danced a Salsa sleek and sultry in the ballroom air

Sean and Karina performed a Salsa with a flirty, flamboyant tone
Candace, Mark displayed a Rumba sensual as if they were alone

Cody, Witney Tangoed with beautiful lines and a walk to the moon
Tony, NeNe were Jiving to the beat, with each other they did swoon

As the night wore on the pendulum was ticking the final ticks for two
Swinging back and forth Diana, Henry and Karina and Sean were blue

The double elimination, shocking surprise, two should have gone far
Heads held high, were proudly SWINGING ON A BALLROOM STAR!

Afterbuzz With Elena Grinenko Review DWTS Season 18 Week 2

Below is Afterbuzz with a new review for Dancing With The Stars Season 8 Week 2. Elena Grinenko joins them this time. It’s interesting getting her perspective on Charlie and Meryl especially being she’s helped them with choreography with their ice skating in the past. I loved how they were speechless at first when they started talking on Amy and Derek. Their conversation about Tony being critical with Carrie Ann was interesting too. Same with their thoughts about Sean being eliminated. They were disappointed like many of us. Anna said watching Sean’s progress with Karina could have been like watching a raw stone turning into a diamond. So true. Great show this week and I love Kristyn’s dress. πŸ˜€ Let us know what you think and if you agree with them…
