Tyler Cameron – The Next Bachelor…or DWTS Contestant???

He’s hot, he’s extremely popular right now, and according to The Inquisitor, has DWTS on his wish list. I’m for it. 🙂 For those not in the know, Tyler was Bachelorette Hannah’s second choice on this latest (very dramatic and somewhat disturbing) edition of The Bachelorette. Now, those of you who know me, know I hate-watch the Bachelor/ette franchise for all it’s cringe-worthy glory. But this last season I not only liked the Bachelorette quite a bit (as did all of America, apparently), but I liked quite a few of her guys. Particularly Tyler. Anyway, these two – Hannah and Tyler – are easily two of the most popular peeps to be on that franchise in a while. And people buy into this shows thing. So…maybe it will happen, maybe it won’t. But he’s not ruling it out. See an excerpt below…click the link to read the whole article. He’s also not ruling out being the next Bachelor, so that could get in the way.

“As a kid, I always said I wanted to go on Dancing with the Stars and that football was going to be the way I got onto Dancing with the Stars. My football career didn’t work out, but maybe this could help me get on Dancing with Stars one day.”

It would be surprising if Tyler doesn’t end up as The Bachelor lead or as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars this fall. The hunky former football, aka the “Respectful King,” won the hearts of millions of fans of ABC’s rose-filled reality show so he would come with an instant fan base. If he is cast on the celebrity ballroom competition, Tyler would follow in the footsteps of past Bachelor Nation alums Jake Pavelka, Chris Soules, Seal Lowe, Nick Viall, “Grocery Store” Joe Amabile, and more who went on to compete for the DWTS mirrorball trophy.

We’re going to ignore that “as a kid” part and completely forget that when I started blogging for this show, he was 16. :::sigh:::

Note: This is HIS wishlist, not necessarily DWTS’s. This is not a “rumor”. Learn the difference. 🙂

ETA: OH…I think it just became an actual RUMOR! Adam is a producer on DWTS. Rumor…or red herring??

DWTS Officially Renewed for One More Season

According to ET, DWTS got a one season renewal. That’s not to say that it won’t be back in 2020…just that the producers are taking it one season at a time these days. There doesn’t appear to be any word on Juniors. Not in this article anyway. If it’s pushed to next January/February like Courtney suggested, then it would probably be too soon to announce it yet.

The Bachelor and Dancing With the Stars have both been officially renewed for new seasons at the network, ABC announced Friday.

The Bachelor, which is coming off a strong season with Colton Underwood, is returning for a 24th installment, while the celebrity dance competition series will be back for a 28th cycle

After opting to forego a spring season of DWTS, a show that has long aired two cycles per year, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burkeconfirmed in February at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that the reality competition would “definitely be returning in the fall.”

It remains unclear whether DWTS will return to its twice-a-year format, though the one-season renewal Friday seems to hint that may not happen.

PureDWTS Season 27: Bachelorette Runner-Up Blake Horstmann to Dance? Reality Steve Says “No” – But Could it Be Someone Else…?

Ok, so Life & Style mag was claiming that recent Bachelorette runner-up Blake Horstmann was possibly going to be doing DWTS this season – and they basically went through the same social media digging that fans of DWTS have long-since mastered to back up their conclusion:

Fans first starting speculating when Blake followed the DWTS Instagram account on Aug. 22. This, in itself, isn’t really that wild. It’s a popular show, he might just be a fan. However, it turned more suspicious when people began questioning him about it and he seemingly un-followed the page just 30 minutes later, according to some eagle-eyed redditors. The theory is that he got nervous that he gave his casting news away, and tried to backtrack.

Adding fuel to the fire, fans spotted Blake liking all of the comments on his Instagram about how he should join the show. One such comment read, “please go on Dancing with the Stars, you’d be amazing!” and another said, “why don’t you go on Dancing with the Stars?”

The article goes on to say that Blake is actually a pretty good dancer already, yadda yadda yadda.  If you guys are anything like me, this all read more as “wishful thinking” on Blake’s part, and maybe a bit of campaigning, rather than solid evidence.  And Reality Steve confirmed it in a recent “Reader Emails” post:

Dear Steve,

Thank you for always making your recaps satirical and sarcastic! It makes watching BIP a bit less agonizing. I have a few questions about some current casting rumors in bachelor nation.

1. I saw that Blake Horstmann has been posting things about dancing and seemed to be in California during this past week. Is he a likely candidate for DWTS?

Steve: No.

Now Steve has a solid track record with Bachelor/DWTS intel, so if Steve says no – Blake ain’t doin’ DWTS. HOWEVER – I did find Steve’s answer to be a bit abrupt…as if he knew more than he was letting on, but thought he better keep it brief and to-the-point for the time being.  And it turns out my gut feeling was right, because Steve just shared this on Twitter, in response to a tweet from Sharna on Sunday night:

Now I’m not sure that he’s got the partnership right (for reasons I will elaborate on shortly in the Interesting Things on Social Media post), but again, Steve’s track record is pretty solid…so it looks like Bachelorette fan favorite “Grocer” Joe Amabile might be dancing this season? I know nothing about this man, but he seems like he doesn’t t take himself too seriously, and looks like a cross between Darren Criss/Josh Peck/this hot vet I follow on Instagram.  Plus, he was in WeHo as recently as 3 days ago:

????????????

Thoughts? I guess I’m ok with it…brain is too tired to put up much of a fight these days 😛

PureDWTS Watchout: Wannabe The Bachelor’s Corinne Olympios!!

I kind of dismissed this when I first saw it, but, then I thought we better put it on ‘watch out’ as you never know, right? It appears The Bachelor’s Corinne Olympios would consider dancing on Dancing With The Stars this season. Below is more from Star Magazine. Be sure to read more at the link. Note that US Weekly has also picked up this story.

Corinne Olympios has kept a low profile since all the Bachelor in Paradise sexual misconduct drama went down. ABC found no evidence of any wrong doing on her co-star, DeMario Jackson‘s, part after their investigation and now he’s looking to clear his name on another reality show!

DeMario, who was on Rachel Lindsay‘s Bachelorette season, is reportedly close to a deal to star in the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.

Meanwhile, Corinne is also open to being the show. She told photographers while out to dinner at Delilah in Los Angeles, “I would definitely consider it.

As for rumors about DeMario joining the cast, Corinne said, “I don’t care. I have nothing against him.”

PureDWTS Conspiracy Theory – Have We Finally Figured Out What Happened with the Casting in Season 21???

It’s been a year and a half, but there’s been a little itch in the back of my brain that I haven’t quite been able to scratch: what exactly happened in season 21 that led to Artem sitting the season out? Especially after he was confirmed as a pro for the season, initially? Well, 18 months later, it appears we finally have enough information to piece together a cohesive theory for what went down.  I’m finally getting to scratch that little itch 🙂

First off, a special thanks to Colleen for pointing out the line in Heather’s blog that set all of this in motion, because Heidi, Vogue, & myself often get so caught up in actually getting stuff posted for you guys that we don’t actually thoroughly process everything we read, especially if it’s a one-off sentence here and there.  Also thanks to Laura & Kimmie for helping to locate the old Val tweets, and anyone who bounced ideas off me on Twitter after some of these tidbits came to light. So let’s dive right in… Read more..

PureDWTS Season 24 Court Rants: I Don’t Care How “Rabid” Your Fanbase Is, You Won’t Win Without the General Audience Vote!

For the regulars, you probably have witnessed what prompted this rant 😛 For the non-regulars, bear with me: it seems like every season, there is at least one fanbase that just bugs the ever-loving sh*t out of me – and it’s usually because said fanbase decides to obnoxiously remind the entire online DWTS fandom how awesome their favorite is, and how they’re going to win, and how they’re sooooo much better than other contestants, and how much harder they’re gonna vote than all the other fans, how rabid & supportive the fanbase is, etc.  Basically – if they can think of something to boast about, they will.  Loudly, frequently, and obnoxiously…and the rest of the fans just have to grit their teeth and bear it until the season ends or that particular contestant gets eliminated.

But here’s the funny part: for all the boasting these fanbases do, very seldom do their contestants actually win DWTS.  Why? To quote one of my Twitter followers, “If you have to tell us how big it is…it’s probably not that big.” 😉 But seriously, though – there’s a bit more to it than that.  You have to take viewing demographics into account, and whether or not that fanbase aligns well with the main viewing demographic; you also have to consider if there’s another contestant on a particular season who perhaps aligns better with the main viewing demographic.  The bottom line is this:

You cannot win DWTS if you don’t have the main viewing demographic of the show on your side.

And right now, I can hear the defiant protests of hoards of Harmonizers 😛 Go ahead – you guys can tell us all till you’re blue in the face how “rabid” you are, how “organized” you are, how “passionate & committed” you are.  It comes across as a tad insecure, but go ahead.  But I’m gonna warn you right now, unless Normani can get demographics on her side (or the show tries to pull off a pimping of never-before-seen proportions), I can almost guarantee she will not win. Let me explain why, using historical data from the show…

Does The Bachelor’s Nick Viall Want to Dance on DWTS Season 24??

Another season approaches, another discussion about Bachelor people. :::sigh:::

Of course he does, although he plays it very coy to People.com. You can pretty much disregard what Nick says in the article (excerpts below) and assume that he would jump at the chance. As many of you know, I read Reality Steve and he knows all about that particular franchise and if he says Nick is salivating (my words, not Steve’s) to dance on DWTS, then you can take it to the bank. Dude has a better track record on the Bachelor than we do on DWTS – although we are hamstrung by our show being live. 😉

Anyway, Nick was rumored a while ago to want to do DWTS and here he is…still wanting it. Will he get asked? Probably not. The first rule of DWTS is to NOT CAMPAIGN for it. They almost never pick people who campaign. Now, that could be why Nick is playing so coy – playing hard to get? Too bad for him that Hollywood is small and word is likely out everywhere that he wants to do it badly. He’s also a dog and I wouldn’t care to see him messing with any of our ladies (although he might be good with Jenna). 🙂  He is nice looking though and maybe he can fake being a decent human being through this season enough for me to want to see him on DWTS.

Ultimately, I think the Bachelor/Bachelorette participation on DWTS comes down to DWTS casting and how well they are doing casting a particular season – if they’re having a hard time, Nick might get a shot. If they’re doing as well as they’ve done the past few seasons, there ain’t no way.  Of course, Rob Wade is working so hard to totally screw some couples over and manipulate the show to get the winner they want (have you all binge watched UNReal yet? Chop chop!), that it won’t be too much longer before they can’t get any good celebs to compete – only those with careers in desperate need of reviving.

We are still quite a ways out before we get any substantial rumors – what are the chances that I score like I did last season with Marilu?? – so don’t get your knickers in a twist about Nick (another play on words – accident, I swear) just yet. Hell, it’s not even a rumor – it’s wishful thinking. On Nick’s part. 🙂

From People.com:

“I mean, I haven’t given it much thought. I think it would be fun, you know?” Viall told Entertainment Tonight about joining DWTS next season if asked. “Who wouldn’t wanna do it?”

——-

And although the idea of competing against fellow celebrities on the ballroom floor sounds like a fun opportunity for Viall, he is currently “focused on being the Bachelor” — but that doesn’t mean he isn’t contemplating the possibility.

“[But] if they asked — I mean, I don’t think I would say my first thought wouldn’t be no, but I think anyone would feel lucky to even be considered,” he added.

PureDWTS Season 22: Ben Higgins Confirms He is NOT Doing DWTS, There is No 13th Couple

*shakes head* Normally I wouldn’t even feel the need to post this, but after the last 24 hours or so and some of the nonsense I’ve had to field on Twitter, I feel like it was necessary…

…despite suspicions from some fans that a surprise “13th couple” was getting added to this season’s already stellar lineup, and that Ben Higgins was going to announce this morning on GMA that he was joining the cast, he confirmed to Variety Magazine that he is definitely NOT doing DWTS this season:

Higgins says he will not compete on ABC’s reality dance competition because he wants to focus on his engagement — but he did allude to an offer.

“My focus is not on what’s next. It’s on Lauren and I. Any decision that was made post show was based on what was best for us, and I believe that what’s best for us is to really concentrate on what’s best for us and to really spend as much time together as possible,” Higgins said.

Asked by Variety if he received an actually offer, “The Bachelor” tried to explain, saying, “Right now, a lot of those requests come down through the ABC pipeline so, I don’t want to call it offers, but just people asking if I’m interesting comes down from a group that is separate that me. Was I asked? I’m sure it was talked about.”

However — the couple will be watching “DWTS.” They agreed, “It’s a great cast!”

For once, a Bachelor contestant seems to recognize that doing DWTS immediately after he & his lady go public is maybe not the best thing for their relationship – just ask Chris & Whitney. Kind of refreshing…even if he come across kinda dodgy & redundant saying it 😛

I guess I have to place just a bit of the blame for the hoopla on this picture that Jenna posted on Instagram, though, as it seemed to whip fans into a frenzy, thinking “she got a promo shot, that means she’s a pro!”

9 more days ? #dwts22

A photo posted by Jenna Johnson (@dance10jenna) on

ETA: Oh looky…promo pic of the whole troupe. Makes it a bit less suspicious that Jenna got her own, eh?

Also seeming to incite speculation about a thirteenth couple: the fact that Emma has deleted this post she made last week explaining that she’s taking a season off from the show.  I’m guessing she took it down due to some of the irrational rage from fans in the comments section, as Emma has always done a stellar job of keeping things low-key and drama-free…but of course, some interpreted it as “she took it down because she got a partner after all!”

Apparently pointing out that a) we’ve never had 13 couples in a spring season, b) there were none of the typical smoking guns (subtle-as-a-sledgehammer clues during the cast announcement, pictures taken at McCadden, leaks from other media sources), and c) none of my sources have seen Emma at McCadden for the past 2 weeks, or have heard anything about a 13th couple, makes me a big ol’, spirit-crushing meanie to some on Twitter.  Gosh, facts are so inconvenient sometimes, aren’t they? 😛 Denial is not just a river in Egypt, folks, and I just don’t see the point in indulging some kinda childish fantasies when I know for a fact that there are no more additions to the cast.

So what do I make of all this? I think TPTB were keeping either Emma or Jenna (or even both) in their back pocket, just in case Ben did sign on – the last time we reported, he was waffling pretty heavily.  Could explain why Jenna got a promo shot, and why Emma was seen rehearsing with the cast a few weeks back.  However, as I told another Emma fan on Twitter – Emma’s a smart girl, and I think she may have recognized that potentially getting trouped was both a demotion and a pay cut, and likely not worth her time. She may have said “Y’know what? No thanks, I’ll sit this one out.” Which left Jenna – and then when Ben ended up passing on the offer, they just kept her in the troupe.  This is all speculation on my part, but I think it makes sense.  I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Emma, and I do think Jenna will eventually become a pro – it’s just not happening this season.  It’s already gonna be a bit of a bloodbath, with so many big names this season – if Ben had signed on, I doubt he would have lasted very long, anyway, up against the likes of Antonio, Ginger, Von, etc.

Soooo…can we all agree that this season has 12 couples now? 🙂

Ben Higgins ‘Needs To Decide’ If He’s Dancing On Dancing With The Stars Season 22

Several of you in comments have been wondering if Ben Higgins is dancing on Dancing With The Stars Season 22. As you know this rumor has been around since the end of last season. Well, according to E Online, he’s still trying to decide.

Before the honeymoon comes a trip to the ballroom.

Choosing between his final two in The Bachelor’s March 14 finale isn’t the only major decision Ben Higgins has coming up in his life. Aside from the big Lauren B. vs. JoJo dilemma, it sounds like Ben needs to decide if he wants to compete on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, which premieres March 21 on ABC.

“I’m not against any opportunity that presents itself,” Ben told E! News’ Will Marfuggi about joining the cast of DWTS when we caught up with him at the Women Tell All special. “I need to analyze if that option was there to say, OK, is this the best thing for me?” I don’t know yet, I don’t. I don’t want to say this is the way I’m going to go with it because I haven’t decided.”

So wait, does that mean he’s already been offered a spot in the ballroom? ABC doesn’t comment on casting rumors, so we won’t know for sure until the cast is officially unveiled on March 8 on Good Morning America.

DWTS Watchouts: Ben Higgins And Kaitlyn Bristowe To Dance In Season 22?

And so a new “Bachelor” for Dancing With The Stars rumor begins. E Online is reporting Ben Higgins is open to anything….and even to dancing on Dancing With The Stars. E Online also reports that Kaitlyn Bristowe (who was in talks to dance last season) is still open to the idea of dancing too. What do you think? Do you like the idea of these two dancing? I’m not sure, but, I think Ben is kind of cute? Heidi, what do you think?

Heidi: I think Kaitlyn blew her chance, actually. Most Bachelors/Bachelorettes are very old news by the time the “next season” rolls around. You have to strike while the iron is hot. Her iron ain’t so hot any more. Ben, on the other hand, will likely be VERY popular and I can see him on the show. Young, handsome, and down to earth (for now).  I like both of them and wouldn’t mind seeing them on the show, but I think Ben is the only one with a real shot…unless they take both of them since they “dated” on her season of the show.  Of course, both are in the “wishful thinking” category right now, and not in actual rumor territory – but I would be very surprised if Ben isn’t considered for next season. DWTS has a pattern. 😉

While the 27-year-old software salesman has yet to officially make his debut on The Bachelor (the premiere is on Monday, Jan. 4), Ben is already looking at life after his televised journey for love comes to end. And it may just include a trip to Dancing With the Stars’ ballroom for its next season.

When asked if he would ever consider joining DWTS while on a conference call with reporters, America’s most eligible bachelor had the perfect answer.

“I think I’m excited about what experiences are next in life. Just like I never expected to be on The Bachelorette, I never expected to be the Bachelor, I don’t know what to expect next and I’m open to anything,” he said. “I have a great life. I love my life here in Denver. I don’t want to chance my life, but if there’s opportunity to enhance it, I’m all for it!”

Translation: Ben is SO in if DWTS is.

Last season, Kaitlyn Bristowe was in talks to join the cast. While it ultimately didn’t happen, a source told us, “The timing isn’t right, but she loves the show and hopes to keep the door open for another season down the road.”
