DWTS – Watch Maksim Chmerkovskiy In The Ukraine Bachelor (Video Link to First Show)

Just a quick update on Maks. If you’d like to watch him in the first episode on The Ukraine Bachelor, you can do so at this link >>>>>HERE. Since it’s in another language, it’s hard to understand. I'm a fashion and music nut....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. Derek Hough (one of my favorite dancers) said at a recent Get Healthy event that ‘dancing’ is an outward expression of what is going on inside you. He says that in some ways, everyone dances and it's so true. To TPTB, how about this song for next season's theme song? Robin G Ft. Wilunleashed - A Good Time (Original) // Download High Quality

DWTS Season 12 – Maksim Chmerkovskiy Discusses Kirstie’s Weight Challenges, Her Amazing Personality, & His Experience on The Bachelor

We have a couple of more videos to share. Maks tells Access Hollywood he did something “right” (not “wrong”) to get Kirstie on the show this year. He says Kirstie is incredible and he’s never laughed so hard. He also talks all about his experience on The Ukraine Bachelor and all of it’s challenges none of which he regrets. Check it out in the two new videos below.

Speaking of The Bachelor, there is another commercial available which you can view at The Bachelor Facebook Page >>>>>HERE (there is no way to embed or I would). This show looks so good!

Pure DWTS – Maksim Chmerkovskiy In Two New “The Bachelor” Ukraine Previews

It’s hard to make out the dialogue in these two new previews of “The Bachelor” in the Ukraine, but, they are fun to watch nevertheless. The contestants are so beautiful and so, is the set and scenery….and Maks too. :)

DWTS Season 12 – New People Interview With Maksim Chmerkovskiy On The Bachelor

People.com has a great new interview up with Maks. He tells them doing The Ukraine Bachelor was one of the “hardest” things he’d ever done and he’d do “Dancing With The Stars” the rest of his life before he’d ever do something like that again. He didn’t like “breaking hearts”. Here is a take below. Be sure to read the link for the full story.

“I had never seen it,” he says of the American version of the dating show. “But I still knew what it was about. In theory you think you can do it, but when you’re in it you cannot realize how difficult it is.”

Looking for love while being followed by cameras is one thing, but what Chmerkovskiy, 31, wasn’t prepared for was the fact that at seemingly every turn, he was breaking hearts.

“The fact that I had to choose people was something else,” Chmerkovskiy said during a Rolling Stone party at Drai’s at the W Hotel in Los Angeles. “People should never be lined up and chosen. We’re not objects and we’re not supposed to be lined up like that. It’s terrible and it’s like I was back in high school.”

And while he can’t say whether or not one lucky girl got the final rose, Chmerkovskiy points out that being the Ukrainian Bachelor had a unexpected perk that very well may have changed his life.

“There was a psychiatrist on staff who I ended up speaking to everyday, and it was very therapeutic,” he says. “It wasn’t that I had issues to fix, but talking to someone who was a professional everyday really helped me a lot, so that was an amazing experience.”

Hmmmm, I wonder what the “unexpected perk” is all about that changed his life? Has he indeed found love?

Pure DWTS – More Weekend DWTS Media (New Photos, Videos & More)

Hey, check out this new fun picture of Kym!! As you can see, she lit up the Australia Open on Friday. Some details below in a take from 10balls.com. (Novak Djokovic a DWTS contestant in the making maybe? How cool would that be? I’d love to see it. :D )

So, when Kym Johnson of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ fame – she was David Hasselhoff’s partner last season – happened to mention that she had tickets for Friday, she was asked if she wouldn’t mind bringing one of spangly frocks and maybe teaching a player a few moves. Out on Court 16. It was a match made in heaven: Kym and Novak (Novak Djokovic) strutting their stuff in the summer sunshine.

Kym put Djoko through his paces, teaching him the cha-cha-cha, while he showed off his muscles with a few lifts. Encouraged to take his shirt off by one of the photographers (and, really, it doesn’t take much to get Novak to get his kit off), he was happily swirling Kym around as if he had been practising this dancing lark for years. According to Kym, Novak is a fast learner. According to the look on Novak’s face, Kym could ask him to dance any time she liked. He even gave her a tennis lesson and Kym even managed to hit a ball or two. In a quiet week, Kym and Novak (hang on, wasn’t she a film star?) brightened up the Open nicely.

Lacey and Cheryl were in Florida this past week to help Christen the new “Disney Dream” cruise ship. Here they are visiting Pink, the ship’s “chic, champagne-inspired” lounge. I have to say I am liking Lacey’s new hair color a lot.

Also, featured below is a new professional shot of Lacey. She recently had some cool photos taken by “Cean One Photography“. You can see more of this shoot at her Twitter account.

Speaking of cool photo shoots, Peta has done an amazing spread for Brendan Vale Courture. Beautiful and I have a feeling John will love her hair. :)

Mark has been posting fan pictures as he tours for his new album “HurtLoveBox”. Here’s one taken of him and Chelsie at Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs on Jan. 19th (Courtesy of fan Cindy Krumpet). You can see more pics at his Facebook page.

And here they are being interviewed and dancing….

Edyta tweeted a picture of Alec, Anna, and Jonathon at a coffee shop between their two “Ballroom With A Twist” performances yesterday.

Here is Anna and Edyta before the second show.

Louis also tweeted a “cast” picture right after the show.

Thanks Louis and Edyta. As reported earlier, Ballroom With A Twist began it’s run in Los Angeles, CA. Friday night. Details and ticket information at the link.

Derek was interviewed at MSA Celebration this week. He was asked about who he’d like to see on the show. They throw out some names but he’s not sure who they are. lol

Lastly, if you’d like to read about Brooke’s take on her and Derek’s “Mirror Ball Trophey” story, go HERE to read an excerpt out of her new book “The Naked Mom”. Thanks to twitter friend @georgiagirlatl and @dwtsgossip for this tip.

Ok, more soon. Be good! ;) xxx

DWTS – Making Age Cracks Is Not Nice and More Fun DWTS Media In The News

Hi All!!!! How are you? Just a few things to share. First, Derek has a big day. He’s filming his role on “Better With You” today. Joanna Garcia (the female lead) tweeted a picture of the two practicing. Thanks to Heidi and Pure Derek Hough for this information. You can see some new HOT pics of him at the link. :)

Tony is golfing in the Bob Hope Classic today as well and has made it to the 3rd round. My Desert has a fun interview up with him. Check out how he use to babysit Derek when he was little. I liked what he said about “ringers”. He is also asked about Season 12. Much more at the link.

On Dancing with the Stars, you’re the professional who is working with amateurs. Out here, the tables are turned. Are you getting nervous? Can you sympathize with your dance partners?
I hope my dance partners show up with as much dedication as I have for golf.

I like the tables being turned.
The pressure is not on me. I just have a good time. This is a beautiful, beautiful place. I wish I could take this weather back with me to Connecticut. I think you guys in Palm Springs definitely have an edge.

Yeah, the winters here are much nicer.
Except for July and August. I think those two months, I wouldn’t want to be here.
It’s not just two months brother.
Oh, it’s more than that?

It gets very hot. You said there’s no pressure on you, but it’s before the first tee.
It’s before the first tee. But the thing is, for me, it’s about having a good time. I’m out here in nature. I’m not one of the pros. There’s no pressure for me to perform. I just have to hit the ball. But I’m an 8 handicap, so I should hit it pretty well.

You’ve had a great run, 10 seasons on Dancing with the Stars with partners like Kathy Ireland …
Yeah, Kathy Ireland, I had Jane Seymour, Susan Lucci, Leeza Gibbons.

It almost sounds like the cast for Cougartown.
I know right, but I also had Audrina Patridge and Stacy Keibler, Melissa Rycroft. I’ve been paired up with every range as far as age goes, and I’ve enjoyed every single one of them. Every season, I have a different story that develops with me. Where some of the other people have the same story. I’ve been lucky to meet so many wonderful people and they all remain friends.

What’s up with this guy Derek always getting paired up with the ringer?
Derek (Hough) is a talented individual. I used to babysit him when he was a kid.
You babysit them?Well, by the pool when they were 8. Whatever you want to call it, but they are good kids and I wish nothing but the greatest thing for them. When they win, I feel like a part of me won.

But come on. you don’t wish you got the ringer so you can win the title?
I don’t ever wish that. I enjoyed every person I had. For me to wish I had the ringer means I didn’t enjoy every person that I had. Honestly, the professional part, I won two world championships. I accomplished my goals. This is all gravy.

So any sneak peeks at the next season? Here’s a little inside tip of what we go through. We don’t know who we get until they walk into that ballroom.

So you don’t know who your partner is until then?Yeah, so all the reactions are tamed down. If it’s bad, we’re not going to say anything. And if it’s good, we’re still not going to say anything because we don’t know how good good is.

Louis was on Good Morning America today to discuss his new dance and fitness class “La Blast”. I couldn’t agree more about how “dancing” is the best workout. Not only that, it is FUN!!

For those Maks fans, there is a new Russian article on Maks and his filming of The Bachelor in the Ukraine at Media Nanny. Even taking it to a transaltion site, I’m having a hard time understanding it (HELP! lol). But, it appears the show is still in production and is currently being shot in the Canary Islands. Be sure to read the link for more and to see some really nice pictures of Maks and some of the beautiful locations where he’s been staying. Thanks to Twitter friend Wonton12 for the heads up this news.

Ok, that is all for now. I leave you with this video I ran onto at the Colleen Zenk Facebook page of her dancing on “As The World Turns”. She is good. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if she is picked to do the show this season. She’s now up to 10,302 fans in support of her to do the show at Facebook and now they are shooting for “20,000″.

People really shouldn’t make “age” cracks like that, should they? I don’t think so or they will regret it.

Have a great weekend. ;) xxx

Pure DWTS -Holiday Media To Begin Your Week

Holiday Greetings Everyone!! Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?? I’m almost finished. Just a few more things and I should be sitting good. Now all we need here is some snow! lol

Speaking of Christmas shopping, I ran into a fun eBay store which had DWTS Magnets, Calendars, Mousepads, and more. There might be some cool gifts or stocking stuffers that your DWTS friends and family might love. Heidi could use a “Derek Mousepad” I am sure. :) Here’s the store: Port Charles Place.

In some DWTS news out there, Hollyscoop.com caught up with Carrie Ann at ‘The Trevor Project’, which deals with suicide prevention for Gay young people. Carrie Ann talks about her thoughts on this project, the past season on ‘Dancing With The Stars’, her holiday plans and more.

Jennifer Grey is recovering at home from her Surgery. Here is a take from People.com.

Dr. Robert S. Bray Jr. removed “a huge fragment” from Grey’s back during the operation. The procedure was a success, and Grey, 50, is recuperating but feeling great.

“I’m still recovering at home. I have to rest a bit more, but I feel great – completely pain free,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Bray, who performed the operation at the D.I.S.C. Sports and Spine Center in Marina del Rey, Calif., says Grey “can go back to her family, pilates, dancing – just about anything she wants to do.”

Maks lit up Twitter yesterday with a picture for where he’s at in the Ukraine currently. Gorgeous! What a beautiful place to spend Christmas and “very Dr. Zhivago” as one twitter follower said.

He also tweeted this.

Just a quick message (in light of the current news) to all the fans! I’m great! Having an amazing time and finding out a lot about myself in the process… Don’t read into things and I promise I’ll let you know what it is that I’m doing in due time. LOVE all the support I’m getting from you all and can’t wait to get back to NY and family/friends to celebrate 2011! And PLEASE don’t worry about all the haters……I sure don’t :)

Speaking of Maks, he along with Mark and Derek have made Glee So Rocks “TV’s 100 Sexiest Men of 2010″ List. Mark came in at #58. Maks came in at #24. Derek came in at #26. Sssss, it’s a pretty cool list. I wouldn’t mind seeing any of these men on Dancing With The Stars next Season. How about you? :-)

For those of you missing Jonathan and Edyta like myself, here they are dancing The Grand Pacific Ball Catalina Optivest.

It looks like Karina had fun celebrating her engaement in Las Vegas this past week with The Chippendales. Here a picture of her. More pics in a cool gallery at Wizbangpop.

Courtney will love this. Anna and Tony attended a charity event in South Florida last week which benefitted The Ronald MacDonald House Charity, The Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Foundation, and Disabled American Veterans. Here is a picture and a take from Accidental Sexiness. Be sure to see the link for more and some video footage as well…especially of Tony saying he’d love to dance with Lindsay Lohan if given the opportunity.

On Thursday, December 9th, 2010 the venue hosted an evening with Dancing with the Stars pro’s Tony Dovolani and Anna Trebunskaya who were even more amazing in person than they are on television. ( I had no idea that was even possible!)

Tony is as dreamy and sexy as you could imagine and Anna’s fiery red hair is quite representative of her electric personality. Poor thing had her suitcase go missing in Los Angeles but she still managed to look fantastic for the event.

The couple performed two dances for guests of the casino, even those who were not participating in the meet and greet. Crowds formed to catch a glimpse of the dancing duo who sadly will never be paired off on the show. Yes, they were THAT good together!

Lastly, would you like to learn to dance with some of the DWTS Pros in the off season? If so, see how you can do so at Suite 101. I’ll take a lesson with Tony and Maks please. :)

Ok, this wraps up this media edition for now. Have a great upcoming week!!! xxxx

Pure DWTS – What Some Of The The Pros & One Judge Are Up To And More!

Just a few dance things to share with you today!!

First of all, Carrie Ann was interviewed by Popstop TV this week. In the interview she talks about Lindsay Lohan, Todd Palin, her Christmas plans, and more. Here is a take. Be sure to see the link for more as well as a video that I couldn’t embed here.

“I’ve been asking for Lindsay Lohan since she went to jail the first time,” Carrie Ann Inaba dished exclusively to me.

“Honestly, I definitely think it’d be a great experience for her because she’s very talent. I think it would be a great come back for her.”

Lohan on Dancing With the Stars would definitely benefit not only Lohan but also the network! Who wouldn’t tune in to see Lohan’s foxtrots? But what about Todd Palin, who’s rumored to be in the works of being on the show right after his daughter Bristol?

“Nope,” Carrie Ann said. “I wouldn’t be interested in seeing his moves.”

Carrie Ann is also a big advocate for same-sex couples on the show. “I love breaking down boundaries just in general in my whole life. I think it’s important to break down stereotypes and break down boundaries so I would love to see a same-sex couple on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ but we’d have to figure out some judging changes.”

Any chances of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi putting on their dance shoes in the near future?

“I would love that! I don’t know if we’re going to be able to get that but I think it would be great.”

Heidi’s Note: I believe that today was the semi-final of Strictly Come Dancing, so we know where Bruno and Len are right now. :-)

In other news out there, Tony Dovolani has officially been picked to be a Judge for the 90th Miss America Contest to be held on Jan. 15th. From Google News.

“The View” co-host Joy Behar and actress Marilu Henner are among seven judges who will decide the next Miss America in January.

Judges for the beauty pageant in its 90th year also include country singer Mark Wills, “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry and Miss America 1990 Debbye Turner Bell.

“Dancing With the Stars” choreographer Tony Dovolani and shoe designer Taryn Rose are also on the panel.

The selections include plenty of ties to ABC, the network airing the pageant live Jan. 15 at the start of a three-year deal. The pageant hasn’t aired on network television since 2004, when ABC dropped it after record-low ratings.

Here is a new fun interview with Cheryl on her appearance in “Forever Tango“, the current broadway show that is coming to San Francisco from Dec. 21 – Jan. 9 (I am so dying to see this). She talks of why this show means so much to her (the roots of it go way back to when she was a little girl) and how she trained for it last summer in Argentina.

Speaking of shows, Mark Ballas says the show he’s doing, “Burn The Floor” is “bad ass”. Here is a take from The Houston Press.

“People should come to see Burn the Floor because it is bad ass from start to finish. High energy, in your face, awesome dancers, awesome choreography, and it’s a spectacle of our sport. People will love it. This is like Dancing With The Stars on steroids,” Ballas told Art Attack.

After learning eight routines in two days, Ballas opens tonight in Raleigh, North Carolina, then moves to Houston before taking a Christmas break and then rejoining the tour in Pittsburgh in late December and early January.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to keep dancing and be doing a show over the Christmas holiday. The choreographer [and director Jason Gilkison] is a good friend of mine and I have a lot of friends in the show so I thought it would be great to join. ”

Ballas said DWTS is very different from Burn the Floor because on the first, you’re dancing with an amateur. “You have to train them, mentor them and go out and perform with them. That’s in contrast to BTF,” a professional show with professional standards. “It was good to be able to really dance again and get into it and dance how I trained to dance,” he said.

Which isn’t to say he doesn’t enjoy DWTS. “It’s one of my favorite seasons I’ve ever done.” He said he enjoyed working with Bristol Palin “just because she was so sweet, so easy to deal with, so wonderful, so eager to learn, open-minded, kind, loving, caring and just fun to spend time with, and to see her journey from the beginning to where she ended up was just remarkable and as a coach just very satisfying.”

I wouldn’t mind seeing this show too. Also, if you’d like to see some pics of Mark’s new home, he tweeted that you can see some pictures of it in the new edition of Ok Magazine.

Anyone missing and wondering where Maks is like I have been this last week? Well, here he is arriving at the airport, filming, and being interviewed on the Ukrainian version of The Bachelor which he is currently starring in. Can anyone understand what he’s saying? Be sure to see the link for more on this project.

Kym has given Stylelist some of her backstage beauty secrets. Here is take.

“We’ve used hair extensions and pieces since the beginning on ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ And now, everyone at home can achieve those looks. It literally takes five minutes to do. Believe me, your husbands and boyfriends will thank you for it because you’ll spend far less time getting ready.”

When asked how she personally likes to use the extensions, Johnson replied, “To achieve highlights or lowlights without changing my natural color, I use extensions a shade lighter or darker, depending on my mood. I just clip in the strips! It’s that easy and there’s no risk of damage like with glued-in extensions. My favorite piece is the Salsaloosa — it’s like a messy updo, you put your own ponytail in and you just wrap the Salsaloosa around twice like a scrunchy. I prefer the “buttered toast” shade. For the strips I use a shade lighter, like highlights, but you really can’t go wrong.”

And for the show?“Often we go for a 1940s-inspired look and those are complex and glamorous. I like to do a bun, too. I’ve got such fine hair and these just minimize the damage and don’t have that funny synthetic shine to them that lots of inexpensive hair pieces do. I was wearing the extenions when my friend Jai Rodriguez from “Queer Eye” came with me to “Skating With The Stars” and he couldn’t tell I had the extensions on, so I know they’re good, because he would totally have said something.”

What’s a typical day like during the season?“We start at 8 a.m. and half the day is spent in hair and makeup, but it’s fun and social. I go to the makeup area and use gel [under eye] patches from Shiseido and keep them on while my hair gets done — they tighten the skin under my eyes and feel great and cooling and wake me up. Also, you cannot underestimate great lashes. My eyelash curler is my best friend and I use Maybelline Great LashMascara or Christian Dior DiorShow. These are absolutely a part of my daily routine.”

How do you stay motivated?“Each season of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ is grueling. We train about seven hours day every single day once the show starts. We get no days off at all. But it’s so much fun and I’m lucky to be able to do what I love for my job.”

Jennifer Grey’s surgery was a success this past week. She posted on it at Twitter a few days ago.

Thanks once again for all the good thoughts. Dr. Bray performed a perfect surgery yesterday and I am now safely home in bed.
@therealjgrey
Jennifer Grey

Lastly, it looks like her partner Derek has finallly found a spot for all three of his “Mirror Ball” trophies. He just posted this picture at his twitter today.

He also posted his new refridgerator and a picture of his new couch being lifted into his Condo. As Heidi said to me, he sure is in the nesting spirit lately. We wonder why? :)

Ok, that wraps up this weekend media edition for now. More soon!! I hope you are all being good or else. Have a fun weekend!! ;) xxx

DWTS Season 11 Casting Rumors – The Typecasting of Season 11, Part II

So apparently I might be onto something with my typecasting theories, because it seems like a lot of you are also trying to deduce from the absolutely CRAZY amount of rumors flying around who might be fulfilling each type…and honestly, at this point, I have no clue what to believe :-P But that’s the fun of DWTS, right?

If the majority of what’s being reported is true (doubtful), then it looks to me like they might actually skip some types this season (haven’t heard any major reports about soap stars or hosts);  but if they’re leaking only a few actual celeb participants and the rest are red herrings, then we might get few suprises thrown in and have a more “well-rounded” cast.  But enough general speculation – on with the rest of the types!

The Teen Idol

Previous examples: Joey McIntyre, Aaron Carter, Donny Osmond, Lance Bass, Mel B., Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey, Joey Lawrence, Ian Ziering, Cody Linley, Sabrina Bryan, Mario Lopez

Advantages: If sales of Tiger Beat are any indicator, the teenyboppers will come out in full force to support their favorite heartthrobs/idols.  Being young & good-lookin’ sure doesn’t hurt! Many also have the added advantage of having a decent dance background, especially if they were part of a musical act.

Disadvantages: Youth can also have its disadvantages – as in immaturity.  What some might call “youthful exuberance”, others might call “immaturity” or “attention deficit disorder” – poor Cody Linley had a hard time sitting still! Emotional immaturity (a la Aaron Carter’s post-rumba meltdown in the confessional) can be especially off-putting.

Possible candidates this season: Looks like Brandy is our best guess.

The Host

Previous examples: Jerry Springer, Brooke Burke, Leeza Gibbons, Mario Lopez, Kenny Mayne, Lisa Rinna, Tucker Carlson, Mark Dacascos, Rocco DiSpirito, Erin Andrews

Advantages: Being that they’ve been at the helm of their own shows, these guys usually have the media savvy & charisma to appeal to the masses, as well as the previous exposure & recognizability.  Most (not all!) are also decently attractive, which never seems to hurt (unless, of course, you’re a model – see previous post for explanation).

Disadvantages: Many hosts are only used to hosting – as in just sitting down & talking (or dodging the occasional punch, if you’re Springer), so the lack of movement experience problem seems to come into play.

Possible candidates this season:  Chris Jericho also hosts some show on NBC, so I guess he could do double-duty and fulfill the role of both the athlete and the host.

The Actor

Previous examples: John O’Hurley, Melissa Joan Hart, Steve Guttenburg, John Ratzenberger, Debi Mazar, Denise Richards, Ted McGinley, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennie Garth, Vivica Fox, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Shannen Doherty

Advantages: Being that their bread & butter is acting, most can usually nail the emotions of the dances. Bonus points if they’ve done any Broadway (like Winokur) because they have likely had dance experience.

Disadvantages: For lack of a better term, many of them seem to be “has-beens” – actors that haven’t been particularly active in the mainstream in the past several years – or were never that big to begin with (can anyone else think of anything John O’Hurley has been in BESIDES Seinfeld?), making it harder for them to garner votes from a public who may not remember them.

Possible Candidates this season: This one has blown up big within the last few days – we’ve got David Hasselhoff, Jennifer Grey, & Florence Henderson (who could also be considered a “legend”) now on our radar. There’s been a campaign for Bern Nadette Stanis, as well as one for Leslie Jordan that he himself is heading up.  Also a minor campaign for Melissa Peterman.

The Reality Star

Previous examples: Kim Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne, Melissa Rycroft, Steve-O, Holly Madison, Trista Sutter, Shanna Moakler, Kate Gosselin, Jake Pavelka

Advantages: Many have achieved pop culture icon status on their respective reality outlets, making them fairly recognizable.

Disadvantages: They may be memorable for the wrong reasons – people tended to remember things like Kim Kardashian’s sex tape more than her reality show, and people seemed more focused on Holly Madison’s split from Hef than her antics on The Girls Next Door.  Many can also come across as attention-hungry & talentless – reality TV is often looked down upon as a way to get famous without having any talent whatsoever.

Possible candidates this season: Oy vey – this is the subtype that has had, by far, the greatest amount of casting rumors…everyone from The Situation to Teresa Giudice to both Ali Fedotowsky & fiancée Roberto Martinez, to Audrina Patridge, but it’s hard to tell who’s got a legit chance and who’s bluffing.  Personally, I’m still holding out for Sig Hansen ;-)

The Singer

Previous examples: Mya, Billy Ray Cyrus, Mario, Belinda Carlisle, Master P, Chuck Wicks, Sara Evans, Willa Ford, Monique Coleman, Toni Braxton, Macy Gray, Nicole Scherzinger

Advantages: As with the teen idols, many have had dance experience concurrent with their music careers.

Disadvantages: Most seem to be committed solely to one genre of music (often R&B or country), making it hard to appeal to a wide fanbase.

Possible candidates this season: Most obvious choice? Michael Bolton.  But in the same token, you could also have Brandy and/or David Hasselhoff fulfilling this role if they’re trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. The Xzibit rumor is still lingering slightly, and Pete Wentz fans are still holding out hope.

The Wild Card

Previous examples: Heather Mills, Tom DeLay, Mark Cuban, Steve Wozniak, Priscilla Presley, Buzz Aldrin

Advantages: The sheer novelty of having someone with such an off-the-beaten-path claim to fame (famous divorcee/widow, entrepreneur, disgraced politician, etc.) may be enough to have the public voting them – just to see what happens.  Being the “underdog” is a powerful thing!

Disadvantages: Due to their often dubious fame, people just may not have any clue who they are – I personally had to Google Mark Cuban’s name.

Possible candidates this season: Can it get much wild card-ier than Bristol Palin?! Good grief…still trying to wrap my brain around how they’re going to try and spin her claim to fame…

Ultrasound sales specialist by day, semi-knowledgeable DWTS fan by night...with a smattering of hair & makeup enthusiast, occasional model, and crazy cat lady peppered in to make things REALLY interesting ;-) I might pee my pants in happiness if Donny Wahlberg ever does DWTS - or if they ever use "Sunglasses at Night".

Who’s Dancing on Season 10 of DWTS?

Find out during the finale of The Bachelor!!  According to Entertainment Tonight online, Tom will be doing the announcement during the two hour finale of that show – I guess the ratings need a boost? :-)   Get your Tums ready.

ABC says they will make the most of “The Bachelor” finale, airing Monday March 1, during which “Dancing with the Stars” host Tom Bergeron will announce new dancers throughout the dramatic two-hour conclusion to the popular romance reality series.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
