PureDWTS Julianne Hough Joins “America’s Got Talent” Judging Panel

In what seems to be a pattern of DWTS pros/judges making the move from ABC to other networks recently (first Derek to NBC for World of Dance, then Carrie Ann to CBS for The Talk), Julianne was just announced as one of the new judges for the upcoming summer season of America’s Got Talent:

“America’s Got Talent” has set a new host and members of its judging panel going into Season 14, Variety has learned.

Terry Crews will take over as host of the NBC competition show from Tyra Banks. In addition, Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough will serve as judges on the upcoming season, joining returning judges Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel. Mel B. and Heidi Klum will not return as judges.

Gotta say – this is likely a major step up for Julianne, as AGT has been a summertime ratings stalwart for YEARS. For those clamoring for her return to DWTS, however, I think this unfortunately means she’s done with DWTS for the foreseeable future – NBC is infamous for being stingy with their talent.  Which is disappointing for me, as I adore Terry Crews and would love to see him on DWTS at some point.  However, Mama Spence has been casually watching the AGT: The Champions mid-season series recently (which Terry has been hosting), and says that Terry is “the perfect host” – and this is coming from someone who loved Nick Cannon as the host of AGT. I rather expected Mel B not to return to AGT, given that she’s had some person struggles in recent years, but I’m a tad surprised that Heidi didn’t come back…or perhaps wasn’t asked back. All in all, an interesting development.

Carrie Ann Inaba Mentions Dancing with the Stars In New Interview

As most of you know, Carrie Ann Inaba is now a co-host on The Talk. In a new News Channel 5 interview, she mentions how she plans to juggle doing both shows. More below….

However, the Hawaii native dished on how she plans to juggle the two shows when the time comes.

“Well, what’s great is DWTS isn’t coming back with a spring series, so we’re coming back in the fall. And for DWTS, I only go in in the afternoon of the show day because I just judge, I don’t have to prepare. I can just walk in with my makeup from The Talk and just continue my day,” Carrie revealed as she and Sara giggled about the great convenience.

I’m glad it will work out well for her. More below with News Channel 5 and at Closer Weekly on her great first week on The Talk.

PureDWTS Carrie Ann Inaba to Permanently Replace Julie Chen on The Talk?

Per Variety, it looks like Carrie Ann may be getting a new gig:

Carrie Ann Inaba is set to take over Julie Chen’s chair on “The Talk.”

Sources tell Variety that Inaba has closed a deal to join the CBS daytime chat show, and will come aboard in January. A CBS representative declined to comment for this story.

Inaba has been one of several guest hosts filling in since Chen’s departure from the daytime talker in September, which came on the heels of Chen’s husband–CBS chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves–being ousted from the company over multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault.

Inaba joins a panel that consists of Eve, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood. Previous co-hosts include Marissa Jaret Winokur, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini, and Aisha Tyler.

So what does this mean for DWTS? My guess is that she may see the writing on the wall and realize that DWTS is a sinking ship, and that she needs to strike while the iron is hot and slide into a more permanent (and probably lucrative) gig. I don’t see CBS sharing her, either, especially if she’s permanently contracted for The Talk. So who knows – maybe we’ll see a shakeup on the judging panel. I think they’ve got time to figure it out, given that we likely won’t see a spring season until at least April, if at all. Can’t say that I’d particularly miss her on the judging panel – she seems to be the judge most likely to effusively gush over just-ok routines and nitpick fantastic ones in order to fit an agenda.

Thoughts?

DWTS 15 All-Stars: Are Donny & Marie Osmond Gearing Up To Dance Again?

So many of you brought it to our attention that Donny was asked about doing the all-star season the other day on The Talk, and I was finally able to locate a clip.  While he seemed to tend more towards the “no” side (“It’s a lot of work!” and “I have one mirror ball trophy I rub in Marie’s face. Why two???), he did say he’d “love to get that trophy again!”.  Video below for those who want to see for themselves…it’s around the 10:00 mark.  Notice how Donny looks a bit guilty & fidgety when first asked about it:

So while Donny seems to give the impression of “sounds fun, but I’m super busy”, I wouldn’t necessarily write him off as a no-go for the all-star season.  I wouldn’t write Marie off just yet, either.  Why, you ask?

Our reader Christy pointed out to us last week that Donny & Marie both appear to have cleared their schedules for the fall, as the last event either of them have listed on their respective websites is a gig in Atlantic City on August 5.  After that, they have nothing scheduled until their UK tour in January of next year.  Are they allocating time to participate in the all-star season, perhaps?

What about their long-running Vegas show? Well, officially, their show at the Flamingo is contracted through October of this year, so there could be a bit of overlap if they do decide to do the all-star season…but the show is dark on Monday evenings, and having a Vegas show sure didn’t seem to stop Donny during his season on DWTS, as Sharon aptly pointed out on The Talk.  And as of right now, you’re only able to purchase tickets for their Vegas show through July 28 on the Flamingo website.  Could they be ending their run in Vegas early, and heading for Hollywood to go head-to-head in the all-star season?

I decided to get a bit sneaky and see what I could find out by calling the Flamingo box office.  I pretended to be a daughter whose parents were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary and were planning a trip to Vegas, and I wanted to gift them with tickets to the finale of Donny & Marie’s Vegas show in October.  The sales rep on the other end of the line, while very friendly, got a bit dodgy with me at that point, and delivered the obligatory “I’m sorry, ma’am, at this time we have only opened ticket sales for shows leading up to July 28.  But if you call back in a month or so, we might have tickets available for shows at a later date.”  Bah…cop-out.  😛 It could mean nothing – maybe they’re still planning out the last few months of the show’s run.  But I thought it was interesting nonetheless, and gave me some food for thought.  😉

So what do you guys think about Donny and/or Marie possibly coming back for the all-star season? Let’s get your thoughts…

DWTS Tristan MacManus and Nancy Grace Dance On The Talk

Today, Nancy Grace was a guest host on The Talk. They discuss some of the hot topics in the news recently. The girls also try to convince Nancy to dance, but, she makes excuses for how she can’t…not without the right shoes and Tristan who she says is in Ireland. But, guess what? The ladies provide Nancy with some dance shoes, the dance floor, the music, and Tristan MacManus pops in to save the day! Nancy changes her mind and she and Tristan dance. LOL You can view the episode in full at The Talk website. Tristan appears in the fourth segment if you want to fast forward to it. Too cute!!!

Will Dancing With The Stars Ask Kris Jenner To Dance? (Rumor)

Is Kris Jenner, Rob Kardashian’s mother and co-host of The Talk, headed to Dancing With The Stars? According to a Huffington Post insider, the show is hoping Kris will dance next.

“They have already had Kim and brother Rob Kardashian on the show and now they are hoping to get mamma Kris to swing her hips,” an insider told me. “Love them or hate them, the Kardashians bring a huge amount of media and buzz to anything they do and having Kris join the next show would be a smart and controversial move, which is exactly what this show loves to do.”

The link also mentions Rob Quivers has turned down the show for the fourth time.

“They have already asked Robin Quivers from the ‘Howard Stern Show’ to join next season, but she has turned them down for a fourth time, saying she doesn’t want to take that much time away from Howard,” a source close to Stern’s show told me. “So expect Kris to get her offer in the next few weeks.”

You can read the full story here.

So, what do you think? I ended up really liking Rob, but, please no more Kardashians for a while. Though Robin Quivers might be fun if she ever decides to give it a go.

Dancing With The Stars Host Tom Bergeron On ‘The Talk’!

Tom Bergeron was a hoot today as always on The Talk, but, he gets serious as well especially when he’s asked straight up on all the controversy on the show this past week. He defends Maks saying he was clumsy with his wording, but, that’s “LIVE TV for ya.” He had to be honest and say he thought Bruno was “rude” with his comments on Chaz and he understands why Chaz was offended. Tom avoided the question when asked who will win Dancing With The Stars Season 13. The person he is most inspired by on the show this season is J.R. Martinez. Though, the best part of the interview is when Tom spills on how he took the gig to host Dancing With The Stars. I won’t ruin it for you. Take a listen in the third segment of the show >>>>HERE

Dancing With The Stars Louis Van Amstel On The Talk “Yes, You Can!”

Yesterday, Louis Van Amstel was a guest on The Talk. Sharon Osbourne not only held the interview, she raved on everything Louis did for her daughter Kelly. She said Kelly was a “lost little girl” before she met Louis and that he turned her into a “woman”. Louis went on to say how much Kelly changed him too. He said Kelly was the “biggest inspiration ever on Dancing With The Stars”. Louis then talked a little of what they went through on Dancing With The Stars. Great interview…and touching as well. You can see part of the interview in the video below. To see the work out/dance part, watch the full episode >>>>here .
