DWTS Season 13 – Rumor Roundup Part 1!!

Okay, as I joked the other day, the tabloid wars are getting out of hand, with one outlet with a great track record (TMZ) is setting up rumors while other outlets, some reputable and some with no track record on DWTS rumors, shooting them down.  It’s crazy, it’s wild….it’s a helluva lot of fun. 🙂 But…it’s hard to keep track of also! Who was rumored, who was shot down, who out and out denied they were doing the show?? Well, that’s why I’m writing this post – to try and make sense of it all and make a list of where we stand now. I don’t know about most of our readers, but this is actually one of my favorite parts of DWTS – trying to figure out who’s going to do the show before…they actually do the show. 🙂

My guess is that Chynna, Christina, Rob and Kristin…and maybe Jenni…will turn out to be true. We’ll see!!

Note: Vogue is reading this before it’s posted…but that doesn’t mean it will be perfect. If we left someone off – please tell us and we’ll update accordingly. DO NOT tell me about people who are campaigning or who want to be on the show – this is for actual rumors. I’m putting a list of wannabes at the bottom – but they are not the same as “rumored to be in talks” or “rumored to be doing the show.”

Chynna PhillipsPerez Hilton reported this yesterday, but it was originally mentioned that she was in talks quite some time ago by us, via The Insider.

Christina Milian – First reported by US Weekly back in July, along with Rob Kardashian, Christina seems fairly solid. Only because Hollywood life (and as recently as August 12)and others are saying she’s in, and no one’s managed to shoot them down yet.  She also had an interesting reaction to a question about DWTS, as we mentioned earlier.

Rob Kardashian – Another potential dancer who is being mentioned by many of the outlets and hasn’t been shot down yet. Along with Christina, he was originally mentioned by US Weekly in July. He addressed the rumors in an interesting non-denial similar to that of Kate Gosselin.

Kristin CavallariAccess Hollywood reported this one and no one has shot it down yet, to the best of my knowledge.

Ron Artest – Originally said to be in talks by TMZ, Ron has since said he will not be on this season.

Snooki – First she was, then she wasn’t, then she was open to it…who the hell knows?

Leila Arcieri – gave a rather vague answer when asked about DWTS.

Queen Latifa – Originally rumored by TMZ, this one was shot down by her reps.

Tommy Lee – was apparently asked and apparently said “hell no“.

Rosanne Barr – was apparently asked and would like to, but she needs body parts replace first. 🙂

Tiffany Thiessen – First, she said no, but then other outlets, such as TMZ and Hollywood Life as of August 12, are still claiming she is dancing, even though Tiffany herself shot down the original rumors. As recently as yesterday, Perez claims she’s dancing.

Jenni Rivera – This rumor is purely twitter driven…but not impossible. 🙂

Matthew Finley – first reported back in June, we haven’t heard his name mentioned very much lately.

Ashley HebertHollywood Life reported that Ashley was “in negotiations” with DWTS back in June while the Bachelorette was still airing, but we haven’t heard much on that lately. The silence is rather deafening. DWTS has a bit of a track record with that franchise, as you may recall. I would not be surprised if they keep the incestuous relationship going.

Evelyn Lozada – Chad Ochocinco claimed to TMZ that Evelyn was “in talks” to do the show.  Then, we reported on a Tweet from Evelyn that sort of implied she was doing the show.

Chaz Bono – I kinda doubt this one, mainly because Extra had a story on it and then pulled it, as we reported a while back.

Bobby Flay – This is another rumor that’s only been mentioned once.  This is one busy guy, so…

Kelly Preston – I never put much stock in this one, but you never know!! Showbiz Spy claimed back in April that she had “auditioned” for the show – which is the first clue they don’t know what they’re talking about. I’ve never heard of anyone having to audition before. In any case, it’s not impossible, as Kelly isn’t that far removed from a Kirstie Alley or Jennifer Grey.

Melissa Gilbert – Melissa’s name has been on many a fan wishlist, but no real rumors until this past May when The National Enquirer brought it up and we repeated it. 🙂 And, interestingly, Melissa tweeted a link to our post! That was nice.  She said no in a weird kinda way as well, which makes me inclined to leave her on the “possible” list.

Sherri Shephard – This lady has wanted to do the show for a long time and appears to have a crush on Maks, but something (or someone) seems to be preventing her from doing the show. Back in June, she was tweeting about the show, and she’s talked about it alot on the View. Wendy Williams claimed she was in talks to do the show in July.   I wonder if their producers won’t let her out to do DWTS.  Seems like we’ve talked about her a lot here. Last word was on August 1, where she supposedly turned an offer down.

Davy Jones – Davy was supposedly asked and “supposedly” turned the offer down. His “no” was rather confusing. 🙂

Hulk HoganHollywood Life takes him out of the running before he was even IN the running.

Candice Cameron Bure – There’s something funny going on here. 🙂 Waaay back in February, we reported that the New York Post was saying Candice was rumored to be participating. She subsequently shot that rumor down via Twitter on February 16, saying she hadn’t been asked. However, since then her name has come up again because of an interesting tweet (again).  She was tweeting Erin Andrews and had asked about Evan Lysacek.  Again, she KIND OF denied it, but in a very strange way. In a way that makes some of us (Evaine, me, Vogue) think perhaps there is more to the story. Evaine is hoping this is about Candice’s husband Valeri Bure, retired hockey player. I guess we’ll see. 🙂

Shawn Marion – He’s afraid that there won’t be an NBA lock out and DWTS would interfere with his season, per a couple previous stories we posted about him.

Bridgit Mendler – a fan site claimed they had been told she was doing the show, but her rep has since denied it.

Alex Morgan – A member of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, Alex mentioned in an interview that she had a show she would be working on for a couple months that she couldn’t talk about. We thought maybe it was DWTS, but twitter chatter says she said it was a cameo. Well, Cameo roles don’t take “a couple months” as far as I know. 🙂

Dina Lohan – I dunno if this is a rumor or more like a wannabe on steroids.  In any case we haven’t heard much about her lately.

The WANNABE Dancers – I could not possibly do a complete list of wannabes, but here are a few who’ve really made it known

Hope Solo – this is more like MAKS wannabe dancer and wishful thinking. But hey, something got him to change his mind, maybe it was Hope?

Theresa Guidice – She’s been trying very hard to get on the show, but they apparently said “NO“. 🙂

Shaquille O’Neal – Pretty sure this one was an assumption by the original source and not a real rumor.

Regis Philbin – remember, Regis said he’d been asked to do the show, but only if he could dance with Derek. 🙂

Jodie Sweetin – we mentioned her way back in Februrary because she had mentioned wanting to do the show. Plus, she likes Derek but started following Maks, so we thought maybe she knew something. Well, she didn’t dance on Season 12 (neither did Derek) so I thought I would include her here. Old rumors often come back to life around here, you know. 🙂  Of course, this is more campaign than rumor, but there you go.

Lee Merriwhether, Mackenzie Westmore, Maci Bookout and Dee Wallace

Ellen K – Ryan Seacrest’s pal, and she certainly has more of an “in” with the show than others, but still this one is wishful thinking. We think. 🙂

Sig Hansen – this guy has been rumored for, like, 2 years now so I’ve downgraded him to a wishful thinker. 🙂

Randy Jones, Michael E. Knight, Jason Alexander and Colleen Zenk

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Tom Bergeron Talks On The New Dancing With Stars Requirements And More On The View!

As we reported to you earlier and in case you missed it, Tom Bergeron was a guest on The View Wednesday. We were hoping to find just his segment on the show, but, unfortunately, and for now, all we have is the full episode which you can watch >>>>HERE. The View girls start out by talking about their debate Tuesday and the rumors about the show wanting bigger celebrities and how one of the things they plan to do is give the celebrities more control over rehearsal times, etc.. Tom says the hours put in don’t always equate to “good dancing” (which is true. Some people are just naturally gifted). Tom also says Dancing With The Stars has always tried to get bigger names to do the show and nothing is really any different. They also talk about the celebrities having free reign over their costumes and “bird feathers” (lol). They talk of Tom’s Emmy nomination as well. Sherri also asks him what it’s going to take for her to be asked to do the show (she’s in total agony dying to dance! LOL). Tom Bergeron, as always, is at his funniest. Be sure to watch.

Special thanks to PureDWTS reader Jennifer for sending the link to us.

Sherri Shepherd Defends Dancing With The Stars On The View (Video)

Today on The View, hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara Walters talked about “Dancing With The Stars”. Sherri Shepherd, in particular, indeed loves this show and what it’s all about. The others try to joke about the catastrophes on the show while Sherri is more serious and even gets defensive. It turns into a debate. lol Funny stuff and I think this girl (Sherri) is dying to dance. Be sure to turn into The View tomorrow (Wednesday) as Tom Bergeron will be making a guest appearance.

Kirstie Alley On Dieting, Dancing With The Stars, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Kirstie Alley continues to get slimmer and slimmer by the day as you can see from a new Daily Mail picture above. Yesterday, Kirstie was a co-host on The View where she was asked about her weight loss. Kirstie remarked that she has lost 90 pounds with 30 of them being after she started dancing on Dancing With The Stars. She also promoted her diet company “Organic Liasons” saying that “the products helped to give her energy to get her through the strenuous competition”. Here is more from The Examiner of Kirstie’s appearance on The View. She is asked on Maks too which I’ll address afterwards.

Actress Kirstie Alley was the guest host on ABC’s talk show , “The View,” on June 21, 2011. Alley sat in along with regular hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

The first topic was Kirstie Alley herself. Alley has had a public battle with her weight over the past several years. She announced that she has lost a total of 90 pounds. She lost 60 pounds prior to her recent stint on “Dancing with the Stars,” and an additional 30 pounds during the celebrity dance competition. Alley said that beyond the weight loss, the hours of daily dancing changed the shape of her body. The strenuous exercise helped with the weight loss and toned her body, so she looks fabulous.

Kirstie Alley took a few minutes to hawk her company, “Organic Liasons,” saying that the products helped to give her energy to get her through the strenuous competition. The company also focuses on organic living and getting harmful chemicals out of the diet.

Alley was asked whether her relationship with pro-dancer Maks went beyond the professional relationship seen on “Dancing with the Stars.” The dancing couple did seem to have sizzling chemistry, but Kirstie refused to confirm or deny. Make of that what you will.

I can’t believe they asked her if there was something more going on with her and Maks? What if there was? And why is it that people can’t go out with each other without it being said there is something more than a friendship? Anyway, here is Kirstie looking spectacular with Maks as well while attending the “Bad Teacher” premiere in New York Monday night.

DWTS 11, Week 3 – Media Roundup After The Results

Lots of media and news tidbits coming your way. First up, Heidi and I found some  things on Maks. He was interviewed by E Online after the show. During the interview, he expresses how upset he is by Carrie Anne trying  to smack him and criticizing him for his teaching techniques on Monday night’s show. Here is some of what he says….

“It’s an absurdly disrespectful thing for her to even think of doing,” the pro hoofer told us earlier today. “Is she crazy? She’s not my mother.”
Just the thought of Carrie Anne being Maks’ mother. Ewww, I wish he had not went there. lol  When asked if he is as hard on Brandy as the video appeared, he said….
“Nobody feels disrespected, nobody feels mistreated, and certainly I’m not an abusive person.”
He also expresses his discouragement with the judging this year which I totally agree with…
I’m discouraged because there’s absolutely no consistency. I don’t understand how the scores are being done. I don’t understand why some couples are being kept on the show. I mean, there were other couples yesterday that literally put their heart and soul into it and did a much better job than they got scored. I just feel it’s a little bit unreasonable. Some people get praised for minimal and certain people get put down while having put out a lot more than others. Something’s off.
Read more details in this interview HERE. Also, these two videos shed some light for what Maks is trying to do with Brandy and more on their relationship HERE and HERE. Maks’ brother Val makes an appearance in the first video. You can tell Maks is so proud.
The Daily Mail had a nice article and pictures of he and Tony too this week. You can see them celebrating their scores and out on the town HERE.  Below is one of the cute photos included with the article.
In other dancing bits today, someone is getting “orgasmic” over the show and it’s none other than Barbara Walter’s! Yes, you heard that right. It appears she has a crush on Kurt Warner.  lol
Barbara Walters was beside herself after seeing Kurt Warner dance on DWTS this week and told her co-hosts that she had a major crush on the former pro quarterback.  “I fell in love,” she said during her Dancing with the Stars review Tuesday. “I fell in love with a former football player named Kurt Warner. This man could be a movie star. Look at him! He practiced with his two little girls, how to be ‘delicate,’ he said.”
Barbara Walters also inserts foot in mouth when she assumes Margaret Cho is “openly gay”. Just because someone wants to stand up for homosexuals, does it mean they are gay? I sure don’t think so. You can see a video HERE and read more from what happened on The View and her thoughts on Kurt Warner on Wednesday’s show HERE.
Last night, Florence Henderson guessed on “Leno”. Fun, quirky, and full of heart as always, she discussed the show and the grueling practices. She also puts Bruno in his place by saying he was having “PMS” when he critisized Michael Bolton. lol
Was Bruno too harsh on him?” asked host Jay Leno. Florence tried to be even-handed in her reply. First, she stood up for Tonioli’s actions. “Judges are judges,” she said. “You gotta take the criticism.” But then, Henderson smirked and said this: “I do think Bruno may have had a little PMS that night.” Ouch!
You can see a video HERE. As for the producers? They are standing by Bruno all the way which frankly I don’t understand.
Just don’t hold your breath waiting for that apology, Michael. … As reported by ‘People’ magazine, the show’s producers are backing Tonioli.
In a statement Wednesday they said that “Bruno’s role as a judge is to give his honest opinions on the quality of the dances he’s judging, which is what he did in this case.” Ouch.

The producers then piled on the misery for Bolton: “While we respect the feelings of our celebrities and dancers … we don’t feel Bruno should be expected to apologize for doing his job.”

If they want more celebrities (or non celebrities :p ) in the future to dance, I think they need to rethink their priorities. Just sayin’. More HERE.
Speaking of future contestants, Sarah Palin was asked yesterday if she would ever join the cast. Here’s what she said….
When asked by an audience member if she would ever join the cast, Palin laughed and said she would have to translate her basketball skills to the dance floor. “They would have to let me dribble back and forth and maybe pivot and do a jump shot or something as part of the routine,” she said. “In fact, when Bristol said, ‘I don’t know how to dance,’ I told her, just think of it as learning some basketball plays.”
Also, did you know Sarah Palin’s husband’s Todd was asked to dance? I really hope the DWTS execs aren’t going to continue this path. I think most fans out there want real celebrities?
Did Todd Palin turn down a spot on “Dancing With The Stars”? Sarah Palin let slip Tuesday that the show’s producers had wanted her husband to be a contestant – but she didn’t say if he was sought out instead of her daughter Bristol, who is currently appearing on the show and narrowly advanced to the fourth week of competition last night.
And that’s not all in “Palin” news, watch out… Bristol is throwing her conservative costumes to the winds and promising to get “sexy” next week for her and Mark’s dance. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I say GOOD!! I’d really like to see Bristol let loose.  I hope she does it….and I mean REALLY DOES IT! Read on…
“We’re doing the sexy dance next week, and I have to get into character,” she says. “Dressing sexy will help me get into character more. Next week, I’ll be dressing sexy. This is it.”
More HERE.
In the Tony Dovolani Camp this week, he says he is feeling “rejuvenated” more than ever this year with his new partner Audrina Patridge which I can feel, can you? He says…
“I’m so happy I can’t tell you. It’s very refreshing after 10 seasons to feel this way. With Audrina, I just feel rejuvenated, I enjoy choreographing for her. We laugh all day.”

On Kate Gosselin he says…

“Oh, even with Kate, I don’t think it was that bad,” says Dovolani, who’s widely considered a nice guy – but did, at one point, temporarily walk off the Gosselin job when she kept questioning his teaching. He adds, “As long as I have somebody who is driving, who wants it really badly, whatever they lack in talent, I can always make them dance.”

But with Audrina, everything is going better. “You know she has no dance background – no performance background – since she’s from a reality show. She came to me as raw as they get. But the thing is, she goes into it headfirst. The way she approaches things – she never gets angry, never gets frustrated with herself, just keeps going ahead. Nothing comes easy to her, but the way she approaches her learning is really amazing. She’s like a sponge, no inhibitions. She doesn’t hold back. She trusts me completely as a teacher. And I feel like I have a real dance partner. It’s not just dancing with a celebrity.”

To read more on their family support, etc., go HERE! If you want to see him showing off his WAXED LEGS, getting them waxed, etc., you can see them HERE. I think I’ll pass if that’s ok.

One more mention, it appears the exposure for Rick Fox on Dancing With The Stars is helping his career as he just landed a new job as a “Guest Analyst” for NBA TV on TNT. His first appearance will be this upcoming Sunday. You can read about his new Gig HERE. Here is mention where he talks on his DWTS experience thus far and a casting suggestion for the show in the future…

Fox calls his dancing experience so far “intense.” He said: “We’ve been going at this for about six weeks, and I can recall maybe one or two days where I’ve had a sense of relaxation, not only physically but mentally. The stress has been there since Day 1.”

He also said he had never considered himself a good dancer. “At parties, I’d be the 6-7 guy who wanted to be a fly on the wall. I’ve had to conquer that fear and force myself to perform.”

Fox said that since he’s working for the national network now and not the Laker network, he has to learn to change his focus. “It’s the NBA as a whole now,” Fox said. “This takes me out of my homer status.”

And Fox has a casting suggestion for “Dancing With the Stars”: Charles Barkley.

“I think Charles would do great on the show,” Fox said. “I think he could dance. And it’s a great way to lose weight. We’ve heard Charles is down over 40 pounds. He could finish off by dancing.”

So, Charles, what do you think? Samba time?

Ok, that’s it for now Folks. Be sure to tell us what you think. Until next time. lol
