DWTS13 Chaz Bono Is ‘Very Much Alive And Plans To Stay That Way’ (Rant Post)

Have you all read about how the National Enquirer claims Chaz will die within four years because of “purported health issues stemming from his gender transition?” Chaz and his lawyer, Dina LaPolt are outraged (I don’t blame them, do you? How could anyone report such a thing! 🙁 ) According to E News, Dina sent a cease and desist letter to the National Enquirer accusing the magazine of defamation and demanding it print a retraction and apologize.

“This is absolutely outrageous, false, fabricated, and highly defamatory,” the legal eagle wrote. “The salacious and inflammatory headline and article were crafted for the malicious purpose of discriminating against our client’s gender and sexual orientation.”

The letter then takes issue with several key assertions the article makes, including that “obesity, testosterone supplements, and high suicide rates among transgender people all increase Chaz’s risk of an early death.”

Hardly, notes LaPolt, who describes the statement as “outrageous” and “offensive.” She also blasted the tabloid for citing as its evidence the authority of a so-called doctor, Patrick Wanis, whom the Enquirer labeled a transgender specialist, a depiction the attorney claims is “highly misleading and blatantly false.”

“He is not a physician and has no specialty in transgender health issues,” stated the attorney.

LaPolt went on to call the story “a smear campaign” and pure “character assassination.”

You can read the E News article in full and how the rep for the magazine defend themselves.

There is no excuse for what they wrote in my opinion. I wonder how they’d like it if someone wrote a death prediction piece like that on them? Sad!!! 😡

Go Joy Behar On The Chaz Bono Dancing With The Stars Controversy! (Interview)

This is one of the best interviews yet with Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer. Take a listen to their interview on the Joy Behar Show last night. They talk about dancing and the hatred and ignorance of others…especially so-called psychologists. Sad!! Joy doesn’t hold anything back for how she feels about it. She also has a thing or two to say about Sarah and Bristol Palin. The only thing I didn’t like is how she had to asking him about his shaving, etc.. Anyway, well worth the 14 minutes to listen!!

DWTS13 Chaz Bono To Be Given Hero Award By GLSEN (Videos)

The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network are planning to give out a Hero Award at their seventh annual Respect Awards. Director Rob Reiner, his wife Michelle, and Phoenix Suns president and CEO Rick Welts (who has also spoke out recently that he’s Gay) will also be honored. The group’s goal is to stop hate, ignorance, and bullying in schools. GLSEN also gives students and educators the resources they need to make schools safe and equal no matter what their sexual orientation may be. Chaz takes a time out from rehearsing for Dancing With The Stars to talk about it with ET and how much it means to him and how he doesn’t understand the “mentality” of some people. I don’t understand it either. Rick Welts talks on it too. Take a listen and see if you don’t agree with them?

Lacey is interviewed by Dr. Drew in the video below. Also, check out Gloria Allred. She’s been actively speaking out for Chaz all this past week. She wants to have National Viewing and Dancing parties for Chaz and fair and equal rights for transgenders next week when the show starts.

I saw a tweet this morning minimizing this issue as if it’s not important as other causes out there. Well, I disagree. Stomping out hatred and ignorance is just as important as any other cause in my opinion.

DWTS Chaz Bono’s Publicist Talks “Hope Versus Hate” And More on Good Morning America

Chaz Bono’s publicist spoke to Good Morning America this morning on the controversy and the transgender debate surrounding Chaz and the show currently. They expected some controversy, but, not on this level. Chaz has taken it well though and has used it to “motivate” himself even further. He’s committed. He’s working really hard and having a great time. No way is he going to back down to the critics and it’s only re-enforced his decision to dance. OneMillionMoms.com is brought up for what they’ve quoted. Chaz publicist considers them to be a “hate” group versus promoting family values (HUGE KUDOS to Chaz’s publicist!). Be sure to watch this as you can see Chaz and Lacey also dressed up for what I think is their Title shoot as well? Excellent video. If you haven’t done so, read an earlier posting on this issue here as well.

Dancing With The Stars Executive Producer, Cher, And Partner Lacey Schwimmer Defend Chaz Bono

I have never seen so much hatred coming out of some people against Chaz Bono dancing. Yesterday, we reported to you about Cher taking to her twitter account to defend Chaz against all the haters and negativity. Lacey is also defending her partner. Below is what she told The Insider

“No human is perfect, so why are they pointing out what they perceive to be an imperfection in someone else? It’s not cool. We’re all taught to not bully, or harass, and treat everyone as equals yet all these people are doing exactly the opposite.” Luckily for Lacey and Chaz, the supportive sounds are drowning out the negative noise. “At the end of the day, everyone is going to have a hater. I choose not to listen to it, because it’s ridiculous. To us, it’s more important to focus on the positive people.”

“This is my sixth season — the producers know that I’m very open-minded and really accepting of everyone,” she says. “Ever since Lance [Bass] was on the show, it opened the door for the LGBT community to be accepted in Middle America and it’s about time. It’s 2011, let’s evolve a little bit here.”

You go Lacey!! Be sure to read more of The Insider interview at the link because Lacey talks on how Chaz is doing so far in rehearsals and more.

Conrad Green, the executive producer for Dancing With The Stars, has also come out to defend Chaz today. He stands firmly behind their casting choice.

“Every season we look for new stories and get as much range as possible and an interesting balance of people,” “Dancing with the Stars” executive producer Conrad Green said. “I hope the audience would at least give him [Bono] a chance.”

Conrad also defends the shows decision against OneMillionMoms.com who said the show has “gone too far” and is “exploiting our children”. Please! Are they serious? Who is Chaz hurting and exploiting? If anything he is teaching tolerance and love for everyone no matter who they are. You would think these “Moms” would approve of that and not be against it”? Below is Conrad’s reaction….

OneMillionMoms.com, which says its goal is to “stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media,” says Dancing with the Stars has “gone too far” by casting Bono and the openly gay Carson Kressley. The organization is asking people who visit the site to email ABC and “let them know that we will not tolerate” lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues “being forced into our homes.”

Dancing with the Stars executive producer Conrad Green believes the backlash against Bono is premature.

He says, “I would ask those people, who’ve expressed discontent about this, to give Chaz a try. If they still feel the same after, so be it. But have an open mind. You might actually find that you really grow to like Chaz.”

Green also disputes the notion that the show is pushing an LGBT agenda.

He says, “I’ve been accused of having a right-wing agenda when I had Bristol Palin on the show, and we’ve been accused all kinds of agendas in the past and I genuinely don’t think we have one.”

Can you tell I am wound up on this? 😡

Heidi’s Note: I officially predict that the Season 13 opener will be the highest rated DWTS season premiere in a long, long time. Why? Because these people filled with irrational hate and paranoia won’t be able to resist watching that which they disparage.  After all, if they don’t watch, they won’t be able to claim it is being “forced into their homes.”  At the end of the day, those who claim to be “protecting their children” are really just teaching them hate and intolerance.  Two things that most children are NOT born with.  Congratulations.
