Pure DWTS 2011 – Dancing With The Stars TV Ratings For May 23-29

Below are the new Nielsen TV Ratings for May 23rd-29th. Listings include the week’s ranking and viewership. As you can see, the Dancing With The Stars Results show beat out American Idol’s performance night last week with 22.86 million viewers. However, American Idol’s Finale topped the list with 29.29 million viewers which drew its largest audience since 2008 (a 21-percent increase over last year’s 24.22 million viewers). The two-hour season finale of “Dancing with the Stars” on May 24th was third for the week, averaging 21.42 million viewers, “the second-most for a Spring finale and 16 percent more than the 18.4 million average for last Spring’s finale”. The hour-long final competition program May 23rd finished second, averaging 22.86 million viewers, “the most for a spring final competition program and 18 percent more than last spring’s final competition program”. The combined average for the Spring season of “Dancing with the Stars” and “Dancing with the Stars: The Results Show” was 21.1 million viewers, “the most in series history” according to OCRegister. More listings and ratings below. Note how high the finale show’s for Glee and House are on the list. “So You Think You Can Dance” had a great premiere night placed at 9th with 9.46 million viewers.  (Heidi’s Note: So, Nigel Lithgow has been doing some very creative bragging on Twitter about how AI’s “finale” beat DWTS – he neglected to mention that when the two shows went HEAD TO HEAD, AI loses. Sure, Idol won wednesday night – no competition. I suspected from what I had seen that Nigel was full of crap – nice to see the confirmation in writing. 🙂  Heck, Glee isn’t doing well as  a lead – DWTS re-run isn’t far behind it. No wonder they keep doing that – it’s a smart plan.)

DWTS Season 12, 2011 – Dancing With The Stars Down In TV Ratings for May 9-15th

Below are the TV Ratings compiled by the Nielson for the week of May 9-15th. Dancing With The Stars Monday night show took a dip last week from 1st to 3rd! The Results show fell a notch from 4th to 5th. American Idol has taken over the top spots. NCIS continues to be dominate in the ratings too. I have a feeling next week’s ratings might be worse for Dancing With The Stars with all the shanagans they are pulling? 🙁 (Heidi’s Note: The viewers for the performance show are down a bit, but I think the viewers for the result show are actually up a bit. It’s not that DWTS is crashing, it’s that AI is getting stronger as they head into the finale, I believe.)

1. “American Idol” (Wednesday), Fox, 23.05 million.

2. “American Idol” (Thursday), Fox, 22.45 million.

3. “Dancing With the Stars,” ABC, 20.74 million.

4. “NCIS,” CBS, 17.62 million.

5. “Dancing With the Stars Results,” ABC, 17.54 million.

6. “NCIS: Los Angeles,” CBS, 14.74 million.

7. “The Mentalist,” CBS, 14.07 million.

8. “Survivor: Redemption Island Finale,” CBS, 13.3 million.

9. “Criminal Minds,” CBS, 13.29 million.

10. “Castle,” ABC, 12.6 million.

11. “60 Minutes,” CBS, 12.24 million.

12. “Blue Bloods,” CBS, 11.79 million.

13. “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” CBS, 11.77 million.

Well, it appears Monday night’s show has hit the hot spot again for the week of May 2-8. However, the Results Show has fallen from 3rd to 5th. Once again, American Idol and NCIS is Dancing With The Stars biggest competiton. The Voice is starting to make an impact in ratings too. I didn’t think that show would go at first being we already have American Idol, but, it’s doing well i the “10” spot. I was glad to see Blue Bloods on this list as well this week. More below.

DWTS 12 – Dancing With The Stars #1 In TV Ratings

Below are the TV Ratings for April 25th – May 1st. Check it out. Last Monday night’s show beat out American Idol for the first time this Season and topped out in first place. The Dancing With The Stars “Special” did well too placed at #6. For those thinking this show is on it’s last legs, think again! 😀  (Heidi’s note: I promise I am going to do a ratings post, but my recollection is that these numbers are standard for DWTS, it’s that AI is a tad on the low side – by 1 or 2 million. The question for our other blog is, with AI and The Voice both doing well, what will happen with The X-Factor?)

DWTS 2011 – Dancing With The Stars TV Ratings for April 11 – 17th

Nielsen has complied the top 20 TV shows on Primetime and their viewership statistics for April 11-17th. Below is how Dancing With The Stars scored last week. Note how NCIS beat the results show out. My new favorite show “Body Of Proof” continues to hang tough. Do you see your other favorite shows on this list? (Heidi’s Note: There was a comment on Twitter – that I haven’t verified yet – that this past week’s DWTS was the lowest rated spring episode in the key demographics in quite a long time, maybe ever. Can’t be sure, because I haven’t looked it up. I can see, just from looking at the numbers, that the totals are off over previous Spring seasons as well. I will have to go back and do some research, but I do know that the middle of the season slumps in the total numbers – but I don’t remember it being this low. Of course, AI’s number seem to be the same as last spring – and DWTS was regularly beating them. Not so now. Cause? Anyone? Maybe a true ringer bringing stellar dancing does add something to the show? Or do people just consider this cast boring? Or did DWTS break the age old rule one time too often – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.)

Here are the prime-time viewership numbers compiled by the Nielsen Co. for March 21-27. As you can see, Dancing With The Stars is in the “2” spot after (and between) American Idol. So, what are your other favorite shows and do you see them on this list. Also, did anyone watch the new drama “Body Of Proof” with Dana Delany after the show last night? That is a good show. I was immediately hooked and plan to tune in every week. I hope it makes the ratings next week.
