Dancing with the Stars Season 22 – PRO WATCH!!

It’s that time of year again and who knows what kind of funky will go down this season. Will Derek finally hang up his DWTS shoes? Will Artem get hosed again in favor of the ever annoying Val? Will Sasha finally get his chance? Will Sharna continue to follow in the wrong footsteps, making unwise statements? Who will take Allison’s spot? These questions and more will hopefully be answered soon. šŸ™‚

I don’t want to hear about Jenna being dance captain. I think that is likely decided among the dancers themselves and I doubt it has any significance in regard to the show – maybe she’ll be a pro, maybe she won’t. Derek and Julianne’s dance captain was someone you’ve likely never heard of. So what?

Kristyn Burtt claims that the pros have been told rehearsals start on February 22 – it remains to be seen if that is true or if it actually happens. Last season was so…fluid…that we’ll have to wait and see. I do think we’ll start to hear stuff from those with a lack of ability to keep their mouths shut. šŸ™‚ There are some Derek fans that worry his media sweep happening next week will include an announcement about his status. The media sweep is because of Disneyland 60 – if an announcement happens, it will likely be that he’s out. If he says nothing or hems and haws, it might be that he’s in. He’s a tough call, as usual Read more..

PureDWTS Poll: Who is Your Favorite “One-And-Done” Pro?

They got one season to show us their stuff as a pro – and then we never saw them (as a pro) again.Ā  They’re the pros whose tenure on DWTS was woefully short, and for some of them, we wonder if things had been different if they had gotten a different partner, or had a bit more experience, etc. etc. etc. But I keep seeing a few names in particular that seem to pop up in the comments section, and it got me thinking: is it time for TPTB to revisit some of these names as pros again? Let’s hear what you think – which one of these one-and-done pros was your favorite? And which one would you like to see as a pro again?

For me, it was a no-brainer: Sasha.Ā  I think the dude’s only shortcoming (no pun intended) is that he’s simply too small in stature to be a suitable partner for the bulk of the female celebs that get cast.Ā  After seeing how great of a substitute partner he was to Nastia last season, and how he does whatever is asked of him without complaint – I’m convinced that we could see AMAZING things out of Sasha as a pro, if they would only give him another shot.Ā  I hear the Olsen twins are short…and not really up to much these days šŸ˜‰

Oddly enough, the other pro I found myself curious about was Anna Demidova – I remember that she actually was quite good with Michael Irvin, and seemed to be a teacher that was very good at communicating with and motivating her partner.Ā  Found myself thinking of Gleb, too – he may not have really shined terribly brightly with Lisa, but once he moved over to DWTS Russia I think he really hit a nice stride.Ā  Would he be able to hang with our pros, though? Who knows…

How did you vote?

Dancing with the Stars Season 21 – PRO WATCH!!

Here we are again!! It’s about that time of year, folks.

And, as usual, the pros that I don’t want to be in, are already in. Or in Derek’s case….mostly in. šŸ™‚ Ā He’s been telling fans in Meet and Greets that he’s likely going to be on but doesn’t want to confirm in case something happens to change that. DWTSGossip says that he did indeed say yes to this season – but as she correctly pointed out, he’s said no before and it turned into a yes. But, this is Derek’s life right now (many, MANY irons in the fire) – he’s not doing it for PR, he just doesn’t know what’s going to happen. Drives me crazy. šŸ™‚ Ā I’ll be writing a blog soon on PureDerekHough.com about my Meet and Greet and how he answered a particular question I asked him that bodes very well for his future.

Val has also said he’ll be back and, as reigning champ, that’s no surprise. He also doesn’t seem to have the options that Derek does. I also will be curious to see how much they pimp and manipulate for him and his partner, now that he actually has a MBT. This could be one of the more interesting things about this season – if their behavior toward him changes, now that it’s mission accomplished. Someone please explain to me why Sharna or Emma don’t get the pimpage treatment?? Their social media accounts can’t touch the men’s, but still.

What about Mark? I expect him back as it helps his music career, and now his studio, for him to be on the show. I think it’s about time for him to have another shot at the MBT again – it’s not like he’s been handed ringers the past couple seasons (unlike some), he’s just been surprised and fortunate, like Derek has in the past. But I haven’t seen any talk from him on the matter. Read more..

DWTS Season 20 – Professional Dancer Announcement LIVE BLOG

Or sort a live anyway. Everything hinges on how they decide to do this. Not to mention that it’s 6am here and “Live” isn’t a word that describes me at this hour. I will do my best to put all the info that comes out into this post. They keep hyping that it’s going to be “BIG” and all other kinds of adjectives that probably won’t live up to the hype – but we will see soon enough. šŸ™‚ Scroll to the bottom of the post for the live updates that aren’t actual Pro names.

And here are your Pros – supposedly this is IT:

Male Pros
Val – IN
Tony – IN
Mark – IN
Artem – IN

Female Pros
Sharna – IN
Peta –Ā IN
Emma –Ā IN
Witney –Ā IN
Allison – IN
Kym –Ā IN

ETA: Teasing the announcement at 7:20ish. :::sigh:::

ETA2: I’ve done a great job on my eyebrows while waiting for this announcement…. šŸ˜‰

ETA3: Definitely Kym Johnson in silhouette!! Damn, missed the baby pix. Court is saying one is Mark and there’s a little blonde boy. Ā And Emma. šŸ™‚

ETA4: I’ve gotten used to the far superior CBS This Morning which doesn’t have nearly the commercials and a lot more actual news. Ā GMA is….not good.

ETA5: I don’t think those fans are that good – might be right on Val, but the other one looked like Artem to me. Love Melissa’s haircut.

ETA 6: Lost my stream, relying on Court. Val is for sure. They are claiming this is Len’s last “year”.

ETA 7: Still with the bigger and better tag line. Yeah. Sure. Switch up week is back.

ETA8: Hmmmm…..said there were four in studio and they have six more. ONLY TEN???

ETA9: If this is it, there’s going to be trouble on twitter. šŸ™‚

ETA10: Questions to the pros. Val’s dream partner. Answer: His season 20 partner. Question to Sharna: How do you prepare for the season? Answer: Picking music, etc.

Well everyone, discuss!! Is this it for the pro dancers this season? Are they holding a few back because Celebs haven’t signed yet? What do you think of this cast?

ETA11: Vogue here. According to US Weekly, TWO more pros will be announced at a later date!

ETA12: The Official Site has announced there will be two more pros announced later. There is a great write up on the ten pros announced today at the link too.

ETA13: ABC Media Net released an official announcement of the 10 pros. They also release info on the theme nights one of which includes “Spring Break” night. WHA?? šŸ˜Æ

Dancing with the Stars Season 20 – PRO WATCH!!

LIVE BLOG is happening here, Ā which is where all the pros will be added as it happens.Ā

Well, a lot has happened since I last wrote one of these posts. In fact, I normally post pro watch for the spring season in early February – yet here we are. Why? Well, Derek is taking a season off to star at Radio City (looks so happy he may never come back), Cheryl appears to have retired from DWTS and is moving on to a different (reality-based?) show, and Val and Sharna are both blabbing about the next season. And as of last night, Karina is OUT. Hell, I had this post scheduled for tomorrow and here I am posting it today – ya’ll gotta have somewhere to be sad about Karina. (ETA: Vogue was at last night’s show and came away with different and new info re: Karina. Stay tuned.)

In Sharna’s case, I think her hint means she’s definitely IN – after last season I don’t think she would be coy if there were any doubt. And if there is doubt? Bad move, girl. As for Val – I don’t think there’s any way in hell he won’t be on, with Maks and Derek gone and Mark making noise. No way. And he’s saying yes, he is back. Read more..

New DWTS Cast Rehearsal Pics, Julianne Hough Interviewed On Guest Judging, And More

PetaMurgatroydDWTSRehearsals2013

Just a few media things today!!! First, some the cast of Dancing With The Stars looked like they were in deep thought and/or smiling as they headed to practice for Dancing With The Stars yesterday! You can see some fun new pictures of them at Zimbio Pictures if interested. Above is Peta Murgatroyd.

Also, and as you know, tomorrow night is when Julianne Hough will be guesting as a Judge. This past week, Gossip Center caught up with her at the QVC FFANY Shoes on Sale event in NYC. This is what she said of her upcoming appearance;

“Iā€™m excited! Iā€™m going to be on the other side of the table this coming week. I hope that the celebrities and the dancers feel like Iā€™m on their side because I do know what it feels like to be on that floor and I know how much time and effort goes into it.”

Derek also wrote about Julianne in his new blog

This week, Julianne is going to guest-judge. If you think she’s going to go easy on me, don’t! I’ve been joking around that she’s going to be like, “Remember when you ripped my Barbie’s head off that time?” She’s going to be a hard-ass! Nah, she will be fair. We’ve been texting back and forth, and she’s really excited. I think it’s cool to have a former pro be a judge. I love our judges, but they’ve never been in our shoes on the show. I think she’ll be great.

I do too!!

And speaking of Derek, he and Amber have had a challenging week with rehearsals and got a late start as Amber has been suffering from some knee issues. You can read and view more on them at Pure Derek Hough. Let’s hope they are going to be ok. Amber reassures us at twitter she is working as hard as she can.

Marie Osmond Picks Her Winner For DWTS Season 17 And More (GMA Video)

Can you believe singer and former Dancing With The Stars contestant Marie Osmond is about to become a Grandmother? She talks of that, her Vegas show with Donny (I saw it last Fall and it was a super show. Be sure you see it if you can), and shares some emergency preparedness tips. Marie also talks of Dancing With The Stars a little and picks who she thinks will win this season. I’ll let you listen in to see who she picked.

PureDWTS Guest Poem for DWTS17 Week 3 “A HI HO HOLLYWOOD EXTRAVAGANZA”

Drum rolls please…below is Lois with a Dancing With The Stars Season 17 poem for week 3. Thank you, Lois!!!

A HI HO HOLLYWOOD EXTRAVAGANZA!

A HI HO HOLLYWOOD EXTRAVAGANZA in the ballroom Monday night
Dancing displays from The Lone Ranger to James Bond, a pure delight

The ballroom was a brilliant, breathtaking, bedazzling, bewitching sight
The opening number of a Vaudeville, flapper theme in the bright spotlight

Elizabeth and Val glided across the floor, a Foxtrot with grace and verve
Jack and Cheryl wowed the crowd, their Cha Cha Cha they did serve

The Charleston, the happy feet of Amber and Derek, Christina and Mark
A Jazz routine by Bill and Tyne, robots filling the floor with stationary spark

Tony and Leah attacked the Rumba with elaborate steps as in a revue
Tristan and Valerie performed Grace Kelly and Freddy Mercury on cue

Corbin and Karina Quickstepped with lightning fast, high stepping feet
Brant and Peta Quickstepped on the floor with marvelous moves so neat

Nicole and Sasha sparkled the Paso Doble and a one handed cartwheel
HI HO SILVER, Bill, Emma’s Paso excited the ballroom, sealing the deal

The time came for the couples to take their places at the end of the show
Sadly Bill and Tyne were the ones leaving, they had to leave, had to go

A HI HO HOLLYWOOD EXTRAVAGANZA of epic proportions and thrills
We were left wanting more dancing, much more to fill our dancing bills

The dancing show we love so much will return Monday night we are sure
Don’t you wish we had the Tuesday night show for more dancing galore!

Afterbuzz Reviews DWTS With Sharna Burgess, Arsenio Hall Interviews Keyshawn Johnson

Afterbuzz reviewed Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Week 3. This time Sharna Burgess and Anna Trebunskaya join them. It’s so great to see Sharna again!! She talks more of her teaching Keyshawn Johnson to dance and their elimination. She also says she’ll still be dancing on the show this season for the opening numbers. Lots more below including a break down on Monday’s show. See if you agree with all of their assessments…

And speaking of Sharna, Keyshawn Johnson was a surprise guest on The Arsenio Hall Show last night during a segment when they were talking on the football players who have done Dancing With The Stars. He talks of how nerve wrecking Dancing With The Stars was performing LIVE, but, it was a great experience.

PureDWTS Season 17 Week 3 More Media After Dance Night Part 2

Hey All! Just a few more media things to share!! Below is Extra with the cast after the show! Derek comments on Julianne judging next week at the end. Val is asked about Maks judging as well.

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Also, don’t miss the cast being interviewed by Glamour. They ask some of the cast members about the craziest L.A thing they ever done. There are some cool backstage shots at the link too. Thanks to Lori for this gem.

Jack Osbourne: One time, Paris Hilton was in my car and we were running away from paparazzi, and I had my buddy with me from England and he had never been to L.A. before and he arrived an hour earlier, and here we are, with Paris in the car, flying down Sunset Blvd. with all these paparazzi following us, and heā€™s like, ā€˜what is happening right now?!ā€™ It was a pretty weird moment!

Corbin Bleu: I have never done this before, and Iā€™ll never do it again, but I was at a club in Vegas, and there was a pool in the middle of the place. We were having a great time, and one of my friends got a little drunk and pushed me in the pool. So I come out of the pool, dripping wet, and the security comes up and says, ā€˜you have to leave!ā€™ Iā€™m going, ā€˜but she pushed me in!ā€™ They werenā€™t having it. I couldnā€™t even get it out of my mouth, but I actually said, ā€˜Do you know who I am?ā€™ and he goes, ā€˜No.ā€™ And the friend that I was with is a well-known actress as well and so I said, ā€˜well, do you know who she is?ā€™ [Laughs] Needless to say, we ended up leaving. But it made a funny story, and I would never do that again!

Anna Trebunskaya wrote a review on this week’s dances at ABC as well. I was a bit shocked when she said Amber and Derek’s dance could have used more content. Wha?

Valerie Harper: A very cute concept. I was smiling the whole time during this routine. Valerie looked beautiful and Tristan looked slightly kooky. I loved it. I feel that Valerie really had a tough time remembering this weekā€™s routine. There were a lot of hesitations and uncertainties in her movement. I hope she gets back on her groove for the next week and many weeks to come. I love watching her.

Bill Engvall: I love his spirit! Iā€™m so glad that he finished the whole routine and didnā€™t mess up at all. There was a lot of content that was actually Paso Doble. Bill has to learn the difference between creating a strong line and getting stiff throughout the whole body. He is not the most natural dancer on the show, but heā€™s working very hard and it shows.

Amber Riley: That was a very entertaining routine! Not a very technical one, but a lot of fun regardless. I love the combination of old school Charleston and some modern booty shaking (crumpling and hip-hop influence). She looks fantastic and sparkles in every routine. Make the next dance with a little more content, and youā€™ll get a higher score.

Chelsie Hightower wrote on the dances as well at ABC. Here is a bit from her blog.

Christina Milian: Mark and Christina next. Completely entertaining from top to bottom! Loved it! Complete synchronicity through many moments. She can still work on refining some of her moves but in my opinion, it was definitely her best dance so far. (P.S. We have all joked about the risk of painting our faces because if the judges donā€™t like it, you have to endure a grueling five minutes of ridicule with your face painted making you feel like a real idiot.) So Iā€™m really glad the judges loved it as well for marks sake, sanity, and reputation. šŸ˜‰ But back to the dance, do I think it deserved a higher score than Derek and Ambers Charleston? I donā€™t, but it was still great! 9

Nicole ā€œSnookiā€ Polizzi: Loved Snookiā€™s intro and I loved the dance! It was a huge improvement from last week. Snooki could work on pressing her shoulders down and as I would say to my partner, ā€œLock those lats down and throw away the key.ā€ (Back to elementary school and it works every time.) But other than that, she brought great energy and attack. One of these weeks, I want to see her totally immersed in the performance because I know she can show us full on emotion and full on facials. But this dance was very well done. 8.

Bill Nye: Last but not least, ā€œBill Nye The Science Guy! Bill Bill Bill Bill!ā€ (that tune gets me every time). Aww, Bill. He has all the drive to win, but couldnā€™t overcome the insurmountable. You gotta give him props for the valiant effort. There isnā€™t much to critique since he was barely able to move or dance, but I do give him an A+ for effort and his will to succeed. Unfortunately, I have to give him a 6 along with the judges for dancing.

Overall, another wonderful night for dance. Hate to see Bill go cause I know he wanted to be there so much, but it was the right decision especially considering his injury. Until next time!

Lastly, you can also watch Bill and Tyne on The View today at this link.

Shew! What a day and I think that makes this post a wrap! šŸ˜‰

ETA: Carrie Ann Inaba felt compelled to write on the night at Parade. Below is what she wrote on Brant and Snooki. Lots more at the link as always.

Brant Daugherty: Heā€™s turning out to be a stronger and more natural dancer than any of us had expected. Heā€™s got nice jazz lines, cleanā€”almost Broadway-like in their clarity of form. This is good and punctuates his movements clearly. He is light on his feet and is just as agile as Corbin. Heā€™s a pretty dancerā€”meaning his pictures are pretty and heā€™s got an easy musicality. His megawatt smile enhances his performance, as does his incredible chemistry with Peta; his weakness is that sometimes he throws his arms to far. Right now, Iā€™d say his injury is his biggest downfall. Proper placement of his feet in the dances could be problematic in the future.

Snooki: She was the surprise of the night. While her movements can tend to be rigid and stopped short of their full expression, last night, she pulled out an incredible routine and sparkled like never before. Nicole is the wild card, which last night worked for her but may not lend itself to consistency. She is not sure exactly of how to do the movements, but by sheer determination she does them. She has that certain ā€œXā€ factor that is probably what has given her such incredible stardom in such a short time. There is an undeniable magic to Snooki, but the question remains: can she bring magic every time to her routines? I donā€™t think itā€™s a good idea to depend on that. I think she needs to work on finessing and finishing her movements to a nice polish. Then watch out!
