PureDWTS Season 19 Media And Interviews After Dance Night, Freestyle Highlights

Good Day after dance night!!! Ready for some media and interviews after the Dancing With The Stars Semi-finals? First, I have to commend and congratulate Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd for a job well done!! They captivated me all season and never gave up! It was like watching a continuation of Sharna Burgess and Andy Dick! Also, Peta proved she can teach anyone while Tommy proved that anything is possible despite hardships and hard knocks in life and that you can still laugh, turn it around, and dance too. I’ll never forget their “Scent Of A Woman” dance the most of all… which will always be one of my favorites in looking back on Dancing With The Stars in the future.

With that said below is a recap and some new interviews. JC Rubio and Allison Holker also talk about the couples strengths and what they can work on for the Finals (in the first Afterbuzz TV video. LOVES them!). Also, there is a fun interview with Len in the second PopTVDotCom interview. You can also visit ABC7 and the Daily Mail for some breathtaking pictures. Note that they dance to the Judge’s Favorite Dance and the Freestyle. Here are a few Freestyle highlights from the interviews…

-Derek has something in mind for the freestyle and will go with what Bethany can excel in.

-Witney says they have some cool ideas. It will be super fun and energetic.

-Val had some moves planned in the beginning of the season and thought he might use them if they made it and she can do it. Adding after listening to new Afterbuzz TV interview: Val wants to celebrate their journey and have fun.

-Sadie has been busting out some moves in practice for the freestyle that she was thinking of using if they made it. She also reveals that she’s wearing tennis shoes, but, then Mark questions it and says they have to consult with wardrobe first.

Lots more below. We’ll add more highlights and interviews as they come out. So keep coming back….

More with ABC7:

More with these two at Pure Derek Hough as the day progresses.

Dancing With The Stars 10th Anniversary Show, Update On Alfonso Ribeirio

First of all…just a little update on Alfonso Ribeiro. Good Morning America featured some clips of him in rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars from this past week (and from last night?). It’s still unknown whether he will dance or not. You can watch it at this link.

Also, in some other news…. Is Dancing With The Stars planning a special 10th Anniversary Show? According to this blog, there might be something in the works as they filmed a “promo” for it during Dynamic Duo week. Cool if true? I wonder when it will be aired? Thanks to Lori for the heads up!! Check out the blog it has some cool pictures.

Before the show began they filmed a quick promo for the upcoming 10th Anniversary of the show.

ETA: Here is another blog which is featuring some footage of what they performed for the promo. Be sure to read the link for more. Lori thanks…you are on a roll…

Janel Parrish Writes About Dancing With The Stars, Sneak Peek Into Tonight’s Dances

Janel Parrish has written a new blog at People. She talks on last week’s experience on Dancing With The Stars. Here’s a sneak peek for tonight’s dances…

This week we have a paso doble and an Argentine tango. The paso doble is going to be very powerful and passionate, and the Argentine tango is going to be softer and more romantic. It’s going to be fun and I’m really excited.

It’s been a crazy week because I’m back to work on Pretty Little Liars filming my Mona flashbacks for the finale. It’s been a little bit hectic, but Val’s been great about being flexible about my schedule, and we fit in rehearsal times whenever we could.

This week’s theme is “plugged/unplugged,” so we’re all doing one song – a regular version and then we’re doing the same song but an acoustic version. My song is Calvin Harris’s “Blame,” so I’m looking forward to showing two completely different sides of the same song.

DWTS Val Chmerkovskiy Writes Of The Most Challenging Week Of The Season

Val Chmerkovskiy tells Today that this past has been it’s been it’s most challenging from them all this season on Dancing With The Stars. The workload has increased because of the team dance. Also, Thursday they found out his partner Danica McKellar has a broken rib. Here is more…

I would say last week has been the most challenging week of the season for different reasons. The workload has increased with a group dance and the pressure is higher. It’s already been two and a half months of grueling work that has taken both a mental and a physical toll. I’m doing my best with Danica when it comes to playing both sides of the fence. I’m accommodating to her physical pain and troubles, but I understand there’s a job to be delivered every Monday.

The problem is we found out on Thursday that Danica has a fractured rib. It’s a big problem. I’m responsible for her and progress, but most importantly her well-being. It’s very hard for me not to blame myself a little bit — if not a lot of it.

This is a pain that Danica’s had since week two. We tried a couple of lifts this week while rehearsing and we heard a “pop” and then it was over. The pain was so bad she started crying. We went to the hospital for another X-ray. She has a fractured rib.

We didn’t even practice on Thursday. That night, we flew out to Washington, D.C., for a science and engineering conference that she’s on the panel for. She’s doing some lectures and a book signing. We have a huge salsa number and a huge team dance. It’s not looking good right now.

We have an amazing team for our team dance, which consists of Candace Cameron-Bure, who had to travel on Wednesday, and Meryl Davis, who had to travel on Thursday, also. Derek Hough and Amy Purdy are on the team, too. I’m not worried about the team dance. I know we’re going to pull that together as a collective unit. We’ll create something amazing. As far as Danica’s solo performance, that’s all on her and me. We’ll see. We’re going to go day by day.

Danica McKellar Injured During Rehearsals For Dancing With The Stars

Let’s hope she’s going to be ok!! Here is more from People.com.

Danica McKellar was injured during a practice for Dancing with The Stars on Thursday, apparently breaking her rib.

The former star of The Wonder Years, 39, Tweeted about it Friday, and asked fans for a little support.

Val Chmerkovksiy Pens Blog On Brother Maks And Samba With Danica McKellar

If you head to Today, you can read a new blog by Val Chmerkovksiy. A majority of his blog is written about Maks. Maks should have won with Mel B? Really? Look for more from Heidi after you read the take below…

I’m very happy that my brother Maks is back this season. It’s awesome. He’s having a lot of fun, and I’m glad that people are seeing that side of him. Everyone has an opinion on Maks! But he’s a product of the process. He’s a very positive, loving and loyal person.

In my opinion, he should have won the mirror ball trophy with Mel B in season 5. Maybe that would have changed everything? Now, it’s like there’s this huge boulder on his shoulder. He’s done the show for 15 seasons and has never won. I’m not saying he deserved it every season, but I think that once you’ve won you’ve — in a sense — proved yourself.

It’s easy to judge someone but you don’t know what they’ve gone through until you’ve put yourself in their shoes. I got to do that with Maks over the last few seasons. I think I have a little bit more composure in my reactions to certain things. But Maks and I are different people. I don’t want him to change. I want him to be just as honest and passionate about what he believes in as he’s always been. He’s been that way for as long as I remember.

It was very exciting the last few seasons to watch Maks venture into other things. But having him back on the show this year is amazing. It’s a privilege for me to spend time with him doing something as incredible as this. We’re very close. He came running into my bedroom after the earthquake hit on Monday morning and said, “Did you feel that?”

More at Today including Vals’s thoughts on he and Danica’s new dance.

Heidi: It’s like Val has actually learned something!! He talks about other people’s scores, but he doesn’t mention any names. It’s a miracle!! :-) Seriously, the one thing he hasn’t learned in all his time (and Maks’ time) on the show is that the scores aren’t relative to other dancers. They never have been. How often has a great dancer gotten the same score as a Kirstie Alley, for example. Or a Bristol Palin. Somehow, when they’re the ones dancing with Kirstie, they don’t have any complaints. Shocking. :-)  As for Mel B? Maybe she should have won. But Shawn should have won Season 15. Sometimes, shit happens. :-)

DWTS 18 Partner Switch-Up: What Are Your Predictions?

This is Lori! That Switcheroo Thingy is upon us already and I am DREADING it!!!!!  I don’t want it to happen, but it’s going to happen!!!

Apparently, the viewers are going to vote after the first elimination, for the Switch to happen (I am guessing) in week 3.  And I am going to guess that TPTB are still trying to decide how they’re going to work it.  Knowing them, they’re screw it up.  Here is what what we know about the switcheroo, make sure you read if you’ve not already.

Anyway, since we are going to be STUCK with it, I thought we could take the time to share how WE would match them up.  For our purposes, we will ignore the elimination, and just match all 12 celebrities to a pro, and since I don’t know how they’re planning it, I’m adding the Troupe in also.

Here’s the Celebrities:

Danica

Amy

Candace

NeNe

Diana

Meryl

Charlie

Cody

James

Billy Dee

Sean

Drew

Here’s the Pros:

Cheryl

Karina

Witney

Emma

Sharna

Peta

Lindsey

Jenna

Derek

Val

Maks

Tony

Mark

Henry

Sasha

Artem

So…. YOUR job now is to rematch the celebrities to a different pro, and unfortunately, ALL must be rematched.  How would you do it, and why would you make the choices you did?

Here are mine. I picked two same sex couples, but, that doesn’t mean that the couples can be same sex or not for what they have planned.

1.  Amy and Henry.  I want her to stay with Derek, but since she can’t, I figured he is closer than the other choices.  Or Sasha.

2.  Diana and Cheryl, because Diana said she wouldn’t mind dancing with Cheryl.

3.  Drew and Derek, because I liked that ad, and I’m sure that both Drew and Derek can come up with a creative dance full of humor.

4.  Charlie and Karina because she is a top choreographer.

5.  Candace and Val.  No real reason, I just would like to see how he would work with her.

6.  NeNe and Maks just to see if there’s fireworks

7.  Meryl and Mark because he’s shorter than Maks.

8.  Danica and Artem just to see what he can do, since I’m not familiar with him.  I figure one week might be fine.  Or Sasha.

9.  Sean and Peta would make a gorgeous pair.

10. Cody and Emma because she’s young, and I’d love to see what she can do with a young partner

11. James and Sharna would make another gorgeous pair.

12. Billy Dee and Tony.  This was BY FAR the hardest pair for me.  I wanted to keep BDW with a female partner, but the ones I had left, I felt were just too young to pair with him, and I didn’t really want to shuffle the others around.  Tony’s always done well with older partners, so I chose Tony…. With a lot of hesitation.

New Official Dancing With The Stars “Maks Is Back” Commercial, Val Chmerkovksiy Blogs

This is a great promo…but, what about the other pros? Couldn’t they have said something on them?

Also, Val Chmerkovskiy has written a new blog for Today. He talks of how he found out he was back for the season. He also explains how he feels for the Switch Up dance and talks on Danica and their dance tonight…

The first dance Danica and I are doing is the foxtrot. It’s all right. It’s definitely not one of my favorites, but it’s a dance that I enjoy dancing. There are certain dances that are very effective and that the audience enjoys more but that I may not enjoy doing as much. Some just don’t have the capacity to be as powerful as others. The foxtrot doesn’t have the passion or the drama that a paso doble has, but it’s still an awesome dance to dance.

I’m committed to Danica’s well-being and growth. You build a connection with your partner. If there’s a switch up, I still want to see her do well, of course. I hope that whoever she may be paired with will want the same and will treat her well. If she ends up getting higher scores than I do with whomever I’m later paired with, then I’ll be very happy for her.

More at Today.
