Christine Montanti of Social Life Magazine interviewed Val Chmerkovksiy in his New Jersey home and what a beautiful home at that (I so want his Kitchen!)! In this interview, they talk of Dancing With The Stars, Dance With Me Studios, and his new fashion line “Valentin” with partner Nicole Volynets. On Dancing With The Stars, Val runs through why he and Elizabeth Berkley didn’t place higher last season. He also speaks about the differences between he and Maks being on Dancing With The Stars and their attitude towards the show. Great interview. I love them dancing at the end in Val’s foyer.

Steph, one of our readers, sent us some news about Val Chmerkovksiy that sounded interesting and something we may need to keep a watch on. Is it possible he is trying to recruit Shay Mitchell of “Pretty Little Liars” or could something be in the works for her to dance? We’ll let you read on further for what she sent us.
He did a twitter Q&A on Friday and someone asked his ideal partner, and Val being Val was of course a little cheeky about it and said: “She pretty, little, and don’t tell the truth ;)” AKA Shay Mitchell from Pretty Little Liars. Backtracking slightly, he tweeted to Shay a few weeks ago “It’s already choreographed”. He wasn’t responding to her and she never replied so there is really no context for what his tweet meant. I know he started following her on Twitter after she came to see Brant perform though.
From her side, she posted on IG after her season wrapped that she had something new in the works she was excited about and the comments were all about her doing DWTS. Shortly after she took it down from IG.
It could be nothing, it could be Val trying to recruit her, it could be Val has a celeb crush (lol), but still, just wanted to let you know to be on the lookout. I honestly don’t think she would be able to do it with her shooting schedule but who knows.
THANKS Steph and good eye!!x
Val Chmerkovksiy tells Life & Style magazine to expect some ‘old school” routines on Dancing With The Stars. Elizabeth says to expect some surprises. Here is more…
The ’90s are coming to ABC!
Elizabeth Berkley’s Dancing With the Stars partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, exclusively tells Life & Style that fans can expect some old school routines this season.
Val told the mag that the duo plan to impress judges with routines inspired by the actress’ role in Saved by the Bell and her later part in Showgirls.
“We have some surprises in store — some iconic somethings!’” Elizabeth tells the mag.
I hope this is true. I wasn’t a fan to “Saved By A Bell”, but, I loved “Showgirls”. More at Life & Style magazine.
Get ready for some Zendaya!! First up, she’s on the cover of Total Girl. At the link, they ask her about dancing and Dancing With The Stars, but, note, how the interview took place before she was picked for Dancing With The Stars Season 16.
Also, you can watch Zendaya in a new music video called “Contagious Love” (from “Shake It Up: I 3 Dance) which premiered last night. What do you think? I love it and I think this girl has some serious moves.
I love this take of Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy, do you?! This past week, the two brothers were seen shopping together Jacob and Company in New York City, NY. Maks then travelled to Los Angeles, CA on Friday. Today Val is on his way to Los Angeles as I type.
Also note that there are conflicting stories about Maks dancing on Dancing With The Stars this season. As you know from TMZ Friday, Maks “spoke with producers” and “informed them that he wouldn’t be returning for the upcoming season”. TMZ titled the article that he was “DONE”. Then Saturday, RumorFix (who we’ve found is NOT always a reliable Dancing With The Stars source in the past) said a source told them that “he asked producers for a break this season so he can fulfill some TV and movie commitments and they were very supportive.” Now today (Sunday), Access Hollywood is reporting producers did not ask him to come back to Dancing With The Stars this season. Stay tuned, according to @DWTSgossip, Maks is suppose to speak about it Monday (tomorrow) when hopefully we will find out from the horses mouth what happened and if there has been any changes?

ADDING: Thanks to Lois, here are some pictures of an event Kelly Monaco and Val had this past week.
Guess what? If scheduling works out, Dancing With The Stars pro Val Chmerkovksiy may be making a return to General Hospital. This time…to DANCE! Below is more from Access Hollywood.
“Yes, we would love to bring Val back,” Valentini told Access at the ABC post-Television Critics Association Winter Session 2013 bash in Pasadena, Calif., last week. “It’s a little trickier because of scheduling, but if we can bring back Val, you may see him do a little dance with Kelly Monaco.”
Val previously appeared on the soap alongside Kelly’s on-screen mom, Alexis, played by Emmy winner Nancy Lee Grahn.
This time around – if the scheduling works – the “DWTS” pro will appear at the Nurses’ Ball, the function spectacle-wearing nurse Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo) is working hard to revive.
“Yep,” Valentini confirmed of the proposed storyline. “We’re crossing our fingers. That one is totally based on schedule. We love Val, he loves us, he had a lot of fun [last time on the show] working with Nancy.”
“Why not have Kelly and Val dance at the Nurses’ Ball,” actress Lisa Lo Cicero, who plays the newly-psychic Olivia Falconeri, told Access, when we ran into her at the ABC party.
Lisa said Val was on set when she filmed one of her more dramatic moments of Fall 2012 – when Heather Webber (Robin Mattson) threw Olivia down the stairs.
“What a doll,” Lisa said of the “DWTS” hunk. “He was there watching the day that I did the stunt where I got thrown down the stairs. It made us all nervous because we didn’t want to look like douches in front of Val… He’s pretty cool.”
For the full story and to read more details, see Access Hollywood.
Cool! I’m tempted to start watching this soap again.
ADDING: The NY Press also interviewed Val. He talks of his music, Dance With Me Studios, General Hospital, Dancing With The Stars, and more. You can read it here. Below is a little take….
On a typical day, how many hours do you dance?
Unfortunately, not enough. I think I get all of my dancing out of the way during the season of Dancing with the Stars. This last season especially, I went through grueling training, not only as a teacher to Kelly [Monaco], but also as a partner. I would say I dance a good two to three hours a day. I only say that because I teach five hours a day. And I’m not one of those instructors who sits back and points fingers. I’m actually on the floor.
You also rap, and guest-starred on General Hospital. Are those things you want to pursue—singing and acting?
Yeah, music is my passion. I’ve played the violin for 15 years. In terms of hip-hop music, I grew up in New York and that’s how I learned English, through Biggie. For me, that genre is really familiar; I’m attracted to it. As a young kid, I loved poetry, so those two elements came together, and I started writing and creating hip-hop music. In terms of acting, I would love to pursue that as well. These are avenues that people, when they have an opportunity, jump at—and a lot them fail. I don’t want to do them just because I have some sort of celebrity status. I want to do them well.
How long do you plan on competing on Dancing with the Stars?
I have a respect for the show and am very thankful for it. Whatever opportunities I have now, yes, my talent has earned, but Dancing with the Stars opened them up for me. Even if I have other projects, my loyalty will always be to that show. Besides that, I think it’s an amazing show—and clearly millions of people enjoy it as well. So as long as they ask me, I’ll be back.
