Janel Parrish has written a new blog at People. She writes of the romance rumors with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy which you can read in a take below. Note how she’d like to keep their feelings personal. You can also read on their new dance where she’s hoping Pretty Little Liars and Dancing With The Stars will collide. More below and at the link.
As far as the rumors of romance between Val and me, I just want people to focus on the dancing that we do and the hard work that we do. I appreciate that people see that we have chemistry, and we absolutely do, but whatever feelings we have, those are our feelings and those are personal.
This week we’re working on a Viennese Waltz, and we’re actually going to do a Pretty Little Liars theme for Halloween. We are dancing to the show’s theme song, “Secret” by The Pierces, so that’s going to be amazing. I don’t want to give too much of it away, but it will be very much my character but more of a twist. It’s going to be fun.
I’m looking forward to showing my fans how much we love them. I know that the PLL army is very supportive of our team. They’ve been voting for us and watching the show, and I love that. I want to give back to them and show them how much I love Pretty Little Liars and how much I love their support. I’m looking forward to making my two worlds right now – Dancing with the Stars and Pretty Little Liars – collide. I’m really, really excited to show the fans what we’ve come up with. I think they’re going to love it!

Janel Parrish has written her new weekly blog at People. Below is take about her and Val’s new dance. The rumba is all about love and they are hoping to bring that to their routine.
This week, we are doing the rumba. The rumba is completely different from jazz. I had to erase everything I learned last week and start over with a new set of rules. That’s always the challenging part when you start a new dance – trying to forget the muscle memory your body has created during the last dance that you did.
I’ve taken a few dance classes in my life but never anything that prepared me for ballroom. Ballroom is so different from anything I’ve ever done, so anything I’ve ever learned in any dance class gets kind of thrown out the window when you start doing the rumba.
Val’s just an amazing coach and he pushes me to give all that I can possibly give by the end of the day. Every day when I go home, I feel like I get a little bit better.
This week is “Most Memorable Year.” The most memorable year for me is the year I moved to L.A. – it was the most challenging, scary but amazing year of my life! For me, the theme of that year was love. The rumba is a dance of love, so we’re going to bring all of that to the routine.
We’ll be dancing to Sam Smith’s cover of the Whitney Houston hit “How Will I Know.” It’s a really, really beautiful dance, so I think it’s going to look amazing. The dance is going to be slow, sensual, beautiful, romantic, passionate. It’s going to be completely different from anything we’ve brought to the dance floor so far.

A couple of months ago, Michael Wien posted a teaser of Val Chmerkovskiy playing the violin for his new upcoming EP called “Road to Elysium”. Now the song is finished and you can take a listen below. This is so beautiful. I love when Val plays the violin. Stay tuned. The new EP will be released soon.
Janel Parrish has written a new blog for People. She writes of last week’s dance and tough love in rehearsals with Val. She also talks on her new dance. Here is more…
We’re doing jazz this week for Movie Night and we’re performing to West Side Story. I’m having so much fun picking out costumes. We have an amazing costume designer. They create everything from scratch and it’s just been a dream. I’m the biggest girly-girl. Any time I see something with sparkles on it, I’m so excited.
I’m really looking forward to this week’s performance. Jazz is really the only dance I have a tiny bit of experience in and I remember really loving it. It’s such a fun dance. And I love Broadway; it’s where I got my start. So this week is going to be a blast for me!

This week we’re doing the foxtrot. The dance itself is beautiful and we kind of made it a fun, young foxtrot. We made it very modern, so it’s going to be really cute.
I think the foxtrot is actually harder than the jive, because when we learned the jive we had three weeks to prepare, and now we have four days. I’m trying to learn the choreography as well as learning how to do the foxtrot, and I think that’s been the most difficult part for me. I have to be very put-together, very glamorous, very mature and elegant, so it’s completely different from last week’s jive.
The song this week is a very modern song, but we’re taking it back to masquerade times. When you hear the song, it kind of has a feel of a masquerade ball, so we’re bringing a bit of older glam to a fun, young, contemporary song. I think the mixture of the two is really beautiful!
