The Stars (in more way than one) are aligned for the Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Finale. What does this mean for Monday and Tuesday night for William Levy & Cheryl Burke, Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas, and Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd?
If you’ve been following Pure Dancing With The Stars for the last couple of Seasons, you know that one of my interests in life since my mid teens has been Astrology. I like to use it to help me to understand people and myself more and why we are the way we are. Taking it one step further, it’s even more fun to see what certain signs ‘combined’ together might produce such as what we see in the unions on Dancing With The Stars. So, this season, we’re back again with another Zodiac Edition to study and explore the three remaining finalists in this area. You may have studied Astrology too in some fathom. If so, feel free to elaborate on what you think of these combinations and how it might effect the outcome on Monday and Tuesday night? So, let’s get started….
The Las Vegas Odds makers at Las Vegas Sports Betting have posted their new odds for the Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Finals. Let’s see how they stack up. Last week they put Maria and Katherine in 3rd place with 3/1 odds…and well, you know who went home. With the results of the elimination, they’ve done some switching around again and now put Katherine in the number two spot behind Donald in first. They’ve put William Levy in last place which shocks me some. I would think they’d put Katherine in the last spot? Regardless, what a tight set of odds again something I’ve never witnessed before.
New Las Vegas Odds for this week:
Donald Driver 3/2
Katherine Jenkins 7/4
William Levy 19/10
Last week’s Las Vegas Odds:
Donald Driver 7/4
William Levy 5/2
Maria Menounos 3/1
Katherine Jenkins 3/1
Let’s get my Pure Dancing With Stars Sistah’s thoughts to help us understand the odds makers more and be sure to tell us what you think in the comments section as well.
Courtney: At this point, I have just given up on trying to predict who will win or whether the odds are on-target or not…this season has just kinda left a bad taste in my mouth, with all the funny business that is clearly going on. But all things considered, and using what I’ve seen on Twitter and other places as a barometer, I do think Donald has the best chance of winning – for the simple reason that those who are tired of all the manipulation seem to be tossing their votes to him. As much as the circumstances that have led to it have sucked, it’s actually kind of nice to see such a sense of solidarity amongst fans of the show – I’ve seen fans of pretty much every eliminated team banding together and pledging to vote for Donald, to take a stand against the pimping of the “Royal Couple”. So where does that leave William & Katherine? Can’t say I really care a whole lot – as long as William doesn’t win, I think I’d be ok with Katherine winning…not necessarily HAPPY, but ok. I’m leaning towards Katherine coming in 3rd, and it coming down to William & Donald for the MBT. I’m fulling expecting The Three Stooges to underscore Donald and overscore both William & Katherine in the finals, but in the end I think Donald has the largest chunk of the voting population behind him – and that’s what truly wins the MBT. Remember, the judges did everything in their power to make Chelsea Kane a winner a year ago – and she STILL came in 3rd place. The judges’ pets have fallen in the past; it’s entirely possible that it will happen again
Heidi: Oy veh. I hope like hell they’re right. But who the hell knows. Courtney is correct, I see a lot of Derek/Maria fans saying they’ll vote Donald. I think some would vote for Katherine, but they’re afraid she doesn’t stand a chance against the two men. You can say that is a bit of a self fulfilling prophesy…but I happen to agree. I think it may be as close as shown up above too. I think back on how positive most were that this was going to be a great season…by the way, this is where I say “I told you so” :- ) …and how we thought the cast was going to be so strong. Well, it really hasn’t turned out that way, if you think about it. That’s all TALK from the judges and the producers, really. Part of that can be laid on having to learn so many dances….but I’ll save that for the Heidi/Courtney/Vogue Season 14 retrospective that will be posted about a week from now or so.
Who better to perform for the Finale shows than Dancing With The Stars Season 14 contestant and legendary singer, Gladys Knight? The amazing Kelly Clarkson (love her!) is also on tap to perform!! Also, note how the three dances will take place …one being a “24 Hour Challenge” dance on Tuesday!
“Episode 1410 & 1410A” — After 10 weeks of highly entertaining performances and phenomenal dancing, Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd, Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas and William Levy & Cheryl Burke have proven they deserve to be in the finals. But only one couple will be crowned champions of “Dancing with the Stars.” The three finalists will have their last opportunity to impress the judges and viewers on two final nights of competition, MONDAY, MAY 21 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET), and concluding on the Season Finale, TUESDAY, MAY 22 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
In the final one-hour performance show on MONDAY, MAY 21 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET), each of the couples will compete in two dances. All three couples will have the chance to show their improvement over the course of the season, performing a dance chosen by the judges that they have previously performed, but will be able to incorporate new music and new choreography. Each couple will also perform the unpredictable and always entertaining no rules Freestyle dance to music they have chosen themselves.
In the two-hour Season Finale on TUESDAY, MAY 22 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), the excitement will continue with a stunning opening number with the entire cast and the Troupe. Tuesday night, all of this season’s eliminated couples will return to the ballroom to perform some of the most memorable routines, as well as a few new surprises, including a special musical performance from Grammy® Award-winning Gladys Knight, who will accompany a dance performance. Grammy® Award-winning superstar Kelly Clarkson will also light up the ballroom singing a medley of her hit songs “Dark Side” and “Stronger,” accompanied by Kym Johnson, Tony Dovolani, Anna Trebunskaya, Tristan MacManus and the Troupe. And in the final element of the competition on Tuesday, the three finalists perform a new routine in our “24 Hour Challenge” – in which they will have had 24 hours to pair their dance style of choice to music given to them after Monday night’s show. This routine will be scored out of 30 and will round out the judges’ scores across both nights.
Wow, they are making this harder than ever for the contestants this season and does this mean the judges have the final word? No way….not if we all vote like mad.
Dancing With The Stars judge Carrie Anne Inaba was a guest on Good Morning America today. She talks of what it’s been like to judge Dancing With The Stars Season 14 saying it’s been “the best”. The dancing has been “beyond their expectations” and every week has been “so exciting” and has had a “new energy”. Carrie Anne also discussed how different the judges scoring has been this season from one another. She, Len, and Bruno disagreed the most with Maria and Derek’s Bollywood number. Carrie Anne then breaks down the final three saying Donald Driver has the toughest road ahead of him. Katherine has the best technique. In the end and judging by the audience’s reaction, Carrie Anne thinks William Levy will win since fans “love, love, love” him.
I think Carrie Anne is wrong about William winning and Peta and Donald will show her who’s boss, but, we will see?
It’s time for our traditional DWTS poll where you can vote for who you think will be the winner of Dancing with the Stars season 14. Will it be Katherine Jenkins, William Levy, or Donald Driver hoisting the Mirror Ball Trophy and becoming the Dancing with the Stars Season 14 Winner? The interesting thing is that usually in the Dancing with the Stars finale the judges scores are quite close and so it’s really all about the public voting.
Of course, this poll isn’t scientific, but when you look at past results from Pure Dancing with the Stars polls they do quite well. So, vote for who you think will win Dancing with the Stars 2012. Don’t worry about voting over and over and over again. The poll does a pretty good job of filtering out extra votes. It’s not perfect, but luckily we will get enough votes that it should be a pretty good predictor of the DWTS season 14 winner.
Feel free to also share in the comments who you wish was the DWTS season 14 winner or who deserves to be the winner of DWTS 2012.
Dancing With The Stars judge Len Goodman weighs in on the final three and gives his take of the upcoming All-Star Season. William Levy reminds him of himself (LOL!!!! I can’t see it!!). Also, he thinks whoever doesn’t win this season, they should come back for the all-stars. He also thinks they should bring back the one week blunders. Hmmm…not sure about that. Lots more below!
Semi-finals week… aka Week 9, by now you should know who is going home… but before we begin let’s look at the scoring breakdown from Monday night’s show.
Yeeeeaaaah, so looking at the actual to predicted scores, Katherine/Mark has the smallest point difference. Whileas with the other three couples, there is a point difference of either 4 or 5 with the largest point difference being Maria/Derek with 5 points.
Looking at this upfront, it would appear that Katherine would be going home, since she is closest to the predicted score, but as we have seen in some of the previous weeks, the couple with the largest point difference could also be going home…
Let’s look at Maria’s scoring progression over the past nine weeks:
This post is a collaboration effort between Heidi and I (Vogue). As predicted, it was a painful elimination last night for many of us losing Derek and Maria. Though I have to say I feel so blessed at the same time for witnessing such a pair. One thing this show continues to show every season is the “fight” in people no matter what their challenges and struggles they’ve had and/or what they face. Whatever hits them or how scared they are that they will fail, some people just get back up, start over, and fight that much harder and even in an unselfconscious manner. THAT’S what I’ll remember the most about Maria Menounos with her time on Dancing With The Stars. She proved to people you can do anything you want and there are no excuses or “crying in baseball”. What’s more, Maria did it with so much heart and soul…and with a quirky, fun spirit, and laugh as well. She and Derek really did win a Mirror Ball in a way by not only by giving us some dances we will soon never forget on Dancing With The Stars, but, by finding the close “bond” that they did. So, for those who have come to the site to gloat, laugh, and tee hee at their elimination, go ahead and do so because Derek, Maria, and their fans know what they have truly found and won in a bigger and more important way.
Ok, below is Miss Heidi with a wrap up of all the elimination interviews with Derek and Maria. Be sure to visit Pure Derek Hough for lots more now and in the coming days.
Maria Menounos and Derek Hough were the couple to say goodbye to the ballroom tonight, but don’t expect any regrets from the TV host!
“I feel like I accomplished everything I set out to accomplish,” she tells us. “I danced every single dance there was.”
Many people were surprised by Maria and Derek’s elimination considering they were at the top of the leaderboard after last night’s performance show, earning a near-perfect score of 59. However, Maria reveals her partner knew their journey was coming to an end. “Derek did prepare me earlier today,” she says. “I’m not gonna lie. He said, ‘I have a feeling we’re going home tonight.’”
Derek isn’t too bummed about coming in fourth. In fact, he actually prefers it! “I always say this: There’s two places to come, first or fourth, because second and third really suck. Coming thisclose and not getting it? That bites. Everybody comes back in the finals anyway, so semifinals is a really place to come besides winning.”
All season long there’s been speculation about Maria and Derek’s sizzling chemistry extending beyond the dance floor. So what did the duo, who shared a steamy kiss during a past performance, have to say for themselves? “We’re going to keep kissing!” Maria tells us, before planting a smooch on Derek’s lips before our very eyes!
Derek knows the ins and outs of this show better than any other pro on this show – and better than me and Courtney, I wager.
Even though partner Derek Hough dubbed her a “champion of life,” Maria Menounos lost her shot at being the Mirror Ball champ for this season of “Dancing With the Stars” Tuesday night.
The “Extra” TV correspondent was misty-eyed as host Tom Bergeron revealed that the vibrant couple would be the ones to leave, but she didn’t miss a beat thanking Hough for his continued support.
“I want to obviously thank Derek because I wouldn’t have gotten this far without his awesome choreography,” she said. “I love him and I can’t thank him enough for making this experience what it’s been for me.”
Video from Derek that I had trouble seeing for some reason – you should be able to see it now. And they remain as cute as ever!
If you are like us this morning, you want to know everything you can about next week’s final dances on Dancing With The Stars. Let’s see what George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet found out in his interviews after the elimination….
First up, Peta is so happy she and Donald are in the finals. Donald wants to make her dream of winning come true. At the end of the day, he gets off the rollercoaster ride, but, it continues for her as a pro dancer. They talk of the freestyle and how it will knock George for a loop. “It will be filled with lots of surprises, lifts, and kicks”, says Peta. We’ll see Donald in a whole different light. Peta says she’s so lucky to have Donald because he works hard and is such a good guy. Donald says he is “determined”. If Peta gets a Mirror Ball, it will mean he will too. He wants to win the Superbowl for her.
Katherine speaks about all of her family, friend, and fan support which has been so helpful. Mark’s parents and his family in Texas love her too. Mark explains how the dances will take place next week. They have to dance three times possibly….two times on Monday for sure and maybe once on Tuesday. Quoting Mark, they “might not get to do the one on Tuesday”. Mark won’t give any hints on their freestyle. It will be ‘fun’ and they want to ‘blow it out the box’ and that’s all he will say.
Cheryl is absent from this interview. William says she’s at work on their freestyle. William says it will be fun. She likes to do different things and it won’t be boring. George asks William on his bucket list. He wants to do what he can for “his babies”…where “he sees his whole life”. He just wants to do his best for the finals and give it his all.
Access Hollywoord interviewed William and Mark & Katherine as well. William hopes he will have some Latin dances next week. He’s going to give it his all. Mark and Katherine are thankful they weren’t eliminated. They were so convinced they were going home. Read more..
