Jeffrey Ross Roast on Dancing with the Stars Finale
I must admit that Jeffrey Ross’ Roast of the stars on Dancing with the Stars is one of my favorite parts of the finale of Dancing with the Stars. I guess a lot of people are up in arms about Jeffrey Ross going too far. No doubt it was all approved by ABC before it went on the air. Plus, I think people are just freaking out, because so much of it was so true. Kind of hit close to home I guess.
Check out the Jeffrey Ross roast:
I don’t think anyone found the roast presented by Jeffrey Ross amusing or entertaining. I think he was rude, and insulting to everyone watching. He showed such a lack of respect for the Stars and the viewers. He was cruel to Steve Wozniak making those comments about his weight. Of course Steve Wozniak was a perfect gentlemen just smiling at him while he was being bashed by the ignorant Ross. The comments Ross made to to Lil’ Kim and to Melissa Rycroft were just hurtful and mean spirited. I did not find one thing he said last night funny, humorous or necessary. The audience was not finding it funny either and either were the stars. They were sitting at the edge of their seats looking anger and embarrassed. Shame on ABC and DWTS for putting them and us through this negative experience.
I am one of those who “is up in arms” about this tasteless production. I have never missed an a season of Dancing With the Stars but if ABC thinks they should end a season by hurling insults at the Stars I think they should retire the show.
Dancing With the Stars is an escape for me from all the worries in my life. To have those who bring entertainment and joy to my life at this difficult time upset me to no end. I actually lost sleep over this every time I thought about it I got angry.
What a terrible end to a great season.
Cindy,
It seems like most people felt the way you did. The stars lack of reaction to Jeffrey Ross’ comments made it even worse than it could have been. I wasn’t bothered to much by what he said, but I can appreciate those that were. It was funny, because it was like the stars didn’t know how to react to the roast. That made it really awkward. Lil’ Kim was the best since she was just laughing her head off.
John: Lil’ Kim was laughing but her laugh was not the same as when she was dancing on the show. When Bruno said the “bitch is back” or when he called her a tramp. She had a joyous carefree laugh. Her laugh last night seemed forced to me and lets face it what else could she do but laugh!! She paid her debt to society and she should not be humiliated on National Television. I understand the idea behind a Roast but last night it was not received well. Everyone seemed strained, uncomfortable and embarrassed. The reaction of the audience was not good either.
I didn’t like it at all and I don’t think it should be included as a part of the show.
At least he was gentle on Shawn Johnson. I wonder how people would have taken it if the made the same comments to her as he did to Steve Wozniak?
Whether Lil’ Kim was acting or not, it’s like you said. Everyone else was “strained, uncomfortable and embarrassed.”
The crazy part to think about is that no doubt ABC approved the roast before he did it.
I strongly believe if you offend one person you have offended us all!!! ABC used poor judgment in allowing Jeffrey Ross free reign. This is just as bad as Wanda Sykes’ Roast. Somewhere, someone has to draw the line and say NO! Last nights fiasco demonstrated to me the lack of consideration and respect ABC and Jeffrey Ross has for their viewers and the stars who appear on their show.
I will not watch the show next season and I will encourage others to do the same unless ABC gives a public apology. This marred the show in my opinion.
LT said it best when he said “Be Careful”. Honestly, I am so saddened by this!
I thought Jeffrey Ross was hilarious. A roast has a long tradition and is meant to poke fun at people and I thought he did a great job. Come on people, get a sense of humor. No one is above being made fun of. Besides, it really lightens the mood. People need to stop taking themselves so seriously and realize that things can be laughed at without recrimination. You’ll live longer if you do. Keep up the good work, Jeffrey.
I think everyone is getting too uptight over what what is supposed to be a roast. He was not up there to compliment and flatter all of these people who are probably used to just that anyway. These people are willingly living in the the spotlight in one way or another, and they have to be a litte more thick skinned than that. Give me a break, it was meant to be all in good fun, lighten up a little.
Well said, David Smith. I agree with you 100%.
Sorry, didn’t find Ross at all funny. It’s one thing to poke fun at people in a good-humored way, but much of his routine was plain mean-spirited.
During the run of the show, the judges and Begeron all made jokes at the expense of the contestants. But they were never mean in the way that Ross was last night. Plus, it was pretty obvious that the audience was uncomfortable, too. Watch the replay and notice how most of the routine is met with a distinctly uncomfortable silence.
As a comedian – Ross didn’t just bomb. He flatlined the room.
A roast is a roast, but I prefer when it’s a pot roast. I don’t think it’s worth getting all worked up over. I’m quite sure that ABC won’t be doing it ever again.
[…] season of Dancing with the Stars. Sure, it ended on a bit of a sour note for many. Some hated the Jeffrey Ross DWTS roast. Fans of Melissa and Gilles were upset that Shawn won. Luckily, that’s pretty normal at the […]
