Having a real job with real responsibilities sucks sometimes. 🙂 Anyway, I believe Karina has said she’s out for the season. Dmitry still doesn’t know. And Louis just did his seasonal HUGEMONGEOUS hint that they meet their partners on Friday. :::sigh::: Tired. Really tired of hearing about Cheryl Cole. 😉
Now, if you consider what Chelsie said about only four female pros back this season and consider that they AREN’T adding a new pro, then here is the possibility. I think.

ETA5: And now Derek and Cheryl are pimping the Bachelor Finale. Suddenly, everything looks more like a coordinated effort. 🙂 Sorry to Melissa fans, but Brooke is still on for her screen test today. Me thinks Katrina was right and her announcing with Tom is more of a Bachelor connection.

ETA3: Of course right when I leave, Mark Ballas announces he will be on “the next” season of DWTS. I’m assuming he means this coming one. 🙂 And he tweets while ice skating with his mom and Derek? Oookay. Boys. It’s looking sketchy for Maks – could go either way. We have five confirmed men and either the men or women are only going to have five spots.
ETA2: As of 11 minutes ago 🙂 Louis is in and very, very excited about it. I’m very happy for him too. No word from anyone else, but interestingly enough, Access Hollywood has also become interesting in the on-going professional dancer saga. 🙂
ETA: Well, it’s six hours after I orignally wrote this and only Karina has popped up to say she doesn’t know. Sheesh. So much for the live blogging idea. Well, it was good practice for next monday when we’ll live blog the celebrity announcement. No need for everyone to suffer through The Bachelor. 🙂
Well, the powers that be have been extremely good in keeping the celebrities on the down low. I would say that this makes us focus more on the pros than normal, but I don’t think that’s the case. I have a pretty extensive tweet deck setup and the amount of nagging, badgering and begging of the pro dancers for information has really been illuminating. 🙂 It’s leading to Derek playing games, Mark losing his mind and finally breaking with a “I don’t know!!! (that’s how it sounded to me 🙂 )” Tony just sends people smilies and phrase which could mean anything. Chelsie is deleting tweets…and some are wisely just staying far away from Twitter altogether. I’m finding it all extremely humorous. 🙂 On with the show.

As of 9:30 am Central Time…well, if they are only having six male pros, that kinda puts Alec and Maks (and Dmitry) on the hot seat, because the other men have either confirmed their participation, their non-participation or they “don’t know”. I’m taking Louis’s word that “don’t know” means they’re waiting for contracts to be signed. I’ve put Maks and Alec on the bubble due to a complete LACK of any comment whatsoever. Since I really like Maks a lot, I hope I’m wrong. 🙂 (Feb 23, 2010 – One spot left and three possible men??)

I see no reason to assume they aren’t adding a new female in addition to the new male professional – but that’s a GUESS, not anything I actually know. Again, as of right now, I’m guessing five female pros which means three spots taken (Cheryl, Chelsie and new girl Edyta). Lacey is already out. Since Anna T and Karina have both played either the “don’t know” game or have made comments that imply a good possiblity, then I’m calling Kym and Anna D and Edtya as on the bubble. If there is no new female pro, then I think Kym is safe. Again, just guessing. Sure is looking like the lineup is: Cheryl, Chelsie, Edyta, Karina and Anna T (Heidi – 2-23-10)

Okay, this is really getting aggravating. Why on earth would Louis delete? Someone has a problem and I’m not sure who. I wonder if none of then are supposed to say anything but they post and then delete knowing people who care will see it?
Heidi, that’s what someone on my LJ group said. I kind of agree… though it is a problem with twitter because people like Lisa Rhinna retweet it…
It also doesn’t make sense because Derek, Cheryl and Mark, despite their funky semantics, pretty much said “I’m in”. Of course, some would say that of all the pros, Derek and Cheryl and maybe Mark can get away with it. But I know all too well that Derek gets worried when he breaks a rule and he’s not inclined to be quite that cavalier. So, I don’t get it. Also, Derek has no problem saying nothing – he’s actually gotten quite good at it. So what the hell is the deal here? Why did Louis and Chelsie delete and on one else did?
those who deleted it might just be doing it b/c they want to have compassion for those who have not heard. Louis is Dmitry’s teacher and they are good friends. Chelsie and Dmitry are good friends from SYTYCD days. Since DIMA has not heard, I am sure they are just trying to be considerate. It looks like it is coming down btwn Maks and Dmitry. They generally get the same type of partners so it will be either or. Don’t know or care who the new guy is as he is taking away a very popular pro with either Maks or Dmitry.
Nah, jeanmom, don’t buy the compassion angle. Once you tweet it, it’s out there no matter what. You can’t delete it from people’s phones once it’s on there – I know this because someone related to the show (not a pro) once tweeted something they shouldn’t have and tried to recall it. It went off their page but stayed on my phone forever. I’m sure these guys know this. Not to mention the re-tweeting.
If Louis and Chelsie were trying to “be compassionate” to Dmitry, they would just CALL him and talk to him. And neither one is stupid.
We are in complete agreement in regards to the new pro – this is rather shitty. You know I’m not a Dmitry fan, but I don’t like this treatment of him and Maks. I hope both of them have something else lined up – luckily for her, Lacey seems to. I had forgotten about Dmitry in the counting – but I think he’s more likely in, since Maks seems to have other activities.
i am familiar with twitter and know tweets are there forever. i just heard someone say Louis and Chelsie got in trouble for tweeting to the execs told them to delete it which is stupid. I don’t care for Derek or Mark but I do realize they are popular so it makes sense to have them on. I used to love Maks but he let his breakup with Karina turn him into a bitter scorned man. However, I know he should be on the show. People have their favorites but overall Derek, Maks, Mark, and Dmitry are the most popular with the “coveted” demographic. However, I think politics plays a part and that is why Lacey is not on this season.
Getting in trouble is different than being “compassionate” – getting in trouble I can understand. Although it doesn’t make sense that there are different rules for Louis and Chelsie than there are for Mark, Derek and Cheryl.
I also don’t think that Dmitry is in the top tier of pros just yet. He has a ways to go before he gets there. He’s too much like Alec. I personally think that if he’s there over Maks it’s because Maks asked out for a season.

I found Maks’ statements to be the result of pushy interviewers and a lot of pain on his part. I’ve never seen a guy show pain so thoroughly on his face as Maks did after Karina retracted her promise which i now believe was only to throw it in Lopez’ face. Then within a few weeks, she’s bedding down with a millionaire baseball “player.” My reaction has been disgust at Karina’s willingness to use men so easily, but she clearly gets a sweet lifestyle out of it so far.
Re returns, I am confident they will both return because DWTS cannot allow itself to lose the draw of the tension, if any, between them. Gossipeers will invent stuff, needlesstosay, and it is buzz for the show. SAD. IMO Louis and Tony are not solidly “in” and Mark’s “next season” could be a deliberate pun to say he’s really taking a season off. Alec has movie plans, Edyta hasn’t had a break at all. Anna T is my fave, but not the show’s. I think it is totally in the air until March 1 and they are all cooperating in a game to fire up the buzz. Heidi you are being used as well. That’s my take.
Ah, but I am WILLINGLY playing the game because I like it. It’s crossed my mind this is all a big Machiavellian (sp) plot but I DON’T CARE. If I am being used, so is Access Hollywood and E! – I can live in that company. I am FAR from stupid – and I also am not so totally invested that it would upset me to be used. I don’t think you can say the same. If I didn’t enjoy the hell out of this, I wouldn’t be writing about it.
That said, I also believe in Occam’s Razor. Look it up. 🙂
As much as I love Maks, he did let the whole Karina thing turn him bitter and he was fighting with her when she wasn’t fighting. He never does himself any favors with how he talks (and writes) – but if he can live with that, so can I. I’m not inclined to judge him the way some fans so quickly judge OTHERS. If you know what I mean and I think you do. Quick to defend Maks, yet judge Derek for far less.

I’m very dissapointed about some dancers not coming back this season. They are important, valuable part of the show. I will miss them a lot.
I don’t get the Maks love/Karina hate. Nobody but the two of them know what happened between them. Karina has remained silent and moved lon. But Maks has repeatedly said spiteful and mean things about her. It makes him look petty. Just walk away and learn one of life’s hard lessons.
Re: game playing–no doubt about it.

Besides, it’s fun and keeps the fans busy. LOL
Of course it’s not good to judge others too quickly, but having met both Maks and Derek, as well as seen hours of rehearsal/interview footage, Maks is genuinely the nicer of the two. He puts on a tough exterior but is sweet. Derek is his own biggest fan.
It is my hope that Dmitry WILL return. I have loved his dancing since the SYTYCD days. He’s exciting and quite attractive. Maks, Derek, and Mark are fine but I could live without their appearance this season. I also hope Chelsie returns!

Well, Cori, I don’t get it either. I don’t get why you have to choose a side OR a pro (Derek versus Maks, etc) – seems pretty immature to me. The Maks fans have to hate Karina cause “she done him wrong” – and vice versa I suppose. Maks is hurt – I don’t blame him, but I don’t get the point of tearing Karina down. Does that make it better?

Umm…not really, ck410. Edyta, Cheryl, Lacey, Derek, Mark, Louis, Jonathan and Chelsie all tweeted they were either on or off the show. Yet Maks says that he was asked not to. And Louis and Chelsie deleted. Louis supposedly told someone via PM (and all should know by now that I don’t believe hardly anything I read on the net or message boards) that he got in trouble. Maks is imitating Derek very, very clearly here – so I have to wonder what the real story is. Perhaps some were told they could say and others were told no, just to keep some suspense? Kinda like the producers leaked Pam Anderson to the media weeks ago? I don’t think anything is answered.
I am a Maks fan, but I don’t automatically hate Karina. And I used to really like Derek as well – until I worked on the show and got to see more of him. 🙂 It’s also possible that all of them were told not to tell anyone but some of them care about listening to the producers and some don’t. No idea about that, though.
Well, I know many who say the opposite – so, don’t be offended if I don’t automatically take your word for it. Personal preference and bias. I know lots of people who work in that business and they are not immune. If fact, they’re sometimes the worst offenders, without even realizing it.
As far as I’m concerned the “Pro’s” ARE the stars. They are absolutely the greatest!!!! My two favorite are Cheryl and Max. Would you believe I’m 63 and I have a picture of Max in my office (Shamefull huh?)…….but don’t misunderstand……I have something good to say about all of them. I think they are absolutely wonderful and I really enjoy this show…..Makes me wish now that I continued with my dance lessons as a kid…..but what do kids know? Three of my granddaughters have been dancing since they were 3 years old……….and they too are beautiful!

I’m with you, Cathy – the pros are the stars. And I don’t see a thing wrong with having a pic of Maks in your office – men do stuff like that all the time!!
Hey, I’m definitely not saying I’m bias-free, and obviously everyone will not like the same people. All I can say is I personally don’t like Derek’s personality the more I see of it. Regardless, I definitely want him to stay on the show because I think he is one of the best choreographers on there. On the other side, I personally thought that Dmitry was the biggest sweetheart in person and yet boring to watch on the show (at least with Mya). So whether or not I like their personalities really doesn’t apply to whether I enjoy watching them on the show. 🙂
It’s hard for me to pick favorite pros because it depends so much on which stars they’re with. I love Maks (but not with Debi), I loved Lacey with Lance but not last season. I’ve pretty much always liked watching Derek. I liked Mark until I saw how mean he was to Melissa this past season. I always love Kym, and I really liked both Annas this past season. Love Louis, and Tony is a little boring or gets boring partners but he’s the biggest sweetheart. Haha I pretty much love almost everyone on the show, which makes it easier to go to work every day. 🙂
I probably should not have used the word “favorite”. Sure would not want to take anything away from any of them. Derek is wonderful……he just goes overboard now and then….but means no harm. I loved Max with Ali’s daughter and Mel B……OMG….I could watch him dance with them forever. I read about Max’s injury as a young man (of course he’s still young to me)……it’s amazing what he does. Edyta…is georgous! A body to die for and I so enjoy she and her hubby! Just can’t say enough about these people!

I’m sad to think that Kym won’t be back. Is it really possible that the winner of last season won’t be back to “defend her title?”
Guess I missed it about Kym……so sad. But maybe she needs a rest? I’ll miss Lacey too…..I voted for her on So You Think You Can Dance. I wish I us “everyday” people could go on that show…..you know have the Pro’s…..the Stars and one of each “everyday” person. I’d love to try it …….if for no other reason but to lose some pounds. If someone with one leg could get out there and do what she did…….surely me with a foot injury could give it a shot. I would also like to be able to pick my partner……..any guess who I’d want? You know why I like Mak…….he’s very serious and in order to do the dances correctly he needs to be that way. Wonderful show!!!! Edyta is amazing…..that’s why I said I should not have said “I had favorites”. That’s really not very nice of me. They are truly beautiful people…..as for their private lives that’s their business.
Karina is not back. Somebody asked her on twitter and Karina said “unfortunately, no Xoxo”.

Just putting my two cents in on the DWTS Maks vs Karina (and a side of Derek to boot) personality… =P
Maks is a sweetheart, I worked w/ him pre-Karina, and he’s very open and caring (not to mention easy on the eyes, but that’s a different story). The split would have made anyone bitter that thought it would be forever, Maks certainly believed that it would be forever and somehow ended up being broken hearted. Maks wears his emotions on his sleeve, and probably why he’s been more than vocal about Karina post-breakup.
My bf met and talked to Karina two winters ago, and says that she’s a sweetheart as well, she’s difficult to get to know and keeps things close to her heart. Thus the reflection of keeping mum to the media.
Bottom line between the two, they are both actually very wonderful people in different arenas, and breakups are very hard. And what they are doing in the public eye is reflective towards their individual personalities. I actually can relate to Maks and I could relate to Karina for entirely different reasons.
Derek is also great to talk to… but a touch into himself (ok I’m being nice about it). To me, he’s like Vodka, great for the moment, but you could only handle a little bit at a time.
Truth is, unless you really know them know them… their public persona is similar yet nothing like who they really are… we all know the public and the media like to pigeon-hole people into something that’s easy to define, but as we all know, reality is rarely that easily defined.

How very fortunate you are to actually know these wonderful, talented people. I heard of the engagement…..and I heard of the breakup. To me these people truly are “stars” and I cannot even begin to idetify with them (Darn it!!!). I have nothing but good things to say about all of them and I base that on their talent. I do like your description for Derek and the Vodka!!! So funny. I wish them all the best…..in their marriages, or any relationships they may be in and along with their families (I love hearing about Tony’s little ones) and I adore Louie. I cannot wait for this show to come back on and I hate the night of the eliminations because I will no longer see that “Professional”……….I don’t really care about those they call “Stars”. They have not had many on that are what I call Stars but my favorite overall was Emmitt Smith!!!!!!!!! He and Mel B were the best. He was ..well, there are just no words to describe Emmit……..Thanks for your imput. I’m glad to hear you speak so highly of them. They work very hard and are very talented.
The “new guy” hypothesis…
I was wondering, the new guy: Damian Whitewood. Was on Burn the Floor… with Maks and Kym and what not… I’m almost willing to bet that if Karina comes back, Maks most likely won’t be, and since Burn the Floor dancers are by definition seasoned and “hot”, well… I’m willing to speculate that they are hoping to pull from that talent pool. In fact I would be willing to take it a step further and say that perhaps Maks put Damian forward in some capacity (and that’s assuming that the pros have some leverage).
And since he’s an Australian champion of sorts… and if Kym is not coming back, he could be the foreign import w/ an accent that people tend to love.
Just an analysis and thought… 😉
I wish they would tell Dmitry already. I mean the producers must know by now the pairings, right? it might be a good sign for him though if they haven’t told him anything. I’m assuming if he wasn’t going to be on they’de already tell him by now. But who knows. I think it would be a big loss to the show if they take him out. I wanted to see him again this season.

Now to continue- if said group will appear it’s likely Maks has a shot over Dmitry & Alec if the producers are accounting wow-factor… I must now agree with Heidi that the other two bring no pizzaz to the competition when compared to Maks; however, the Lacey dilemma may shatter this thought if they’re not looking at the wow-factor.
Secondly Damian will definately be a breath of fresh air in regards to Marianya’s comment bringing new foreign dancers in.
As for Mark, and Cheryl practically teasing the other twitter-ers I have to say in agreement with a comment above, maybe the producers are putting the Pros into the limelight to keep speculation on the competitors which seems (just in my opinion) to get more scarily bizarre by the second!!! 1st Paula, 2nd Pamela, 3rd Samantha as a contestant (I mean if Tom wants her back that bad he could simply get the heads to offer her more). Plus this persistant bagering which gets no results will keep a semi-blind eye on competitors, smart move (if it is a move) on their part… again it could be that they’re cracking down or something.
When Chelsie said that she heard that only 4 girls pros were coming back, I took it to mean that 4 existing professional girls would be back and then someone new would be coming on. They have always only had a one person difference between girls and guys. With 11 celebrities, I DOUBT they would have 4 girls on and 7 boys. It will most likely be 5 girls and 6 boys. I’m thinking Edyta, Cheryl, Chelsie, possibly Anna T, or possibly Kym, and then a new girl (or both Kym and Anna T). I can’t wait to find out though!! And I will be watching The Bachelor on my own because I love the show so I will be completely up to date on the celebrities!!
Your math is a bit off Rebecca – if it’s really five girls and it’s Edyta, Cheryl, Chelsie and a new girl – that only leaves ONE spot, not two. So it has to be either Anna T. or Kym (or Anna D, but I doubt it).
I have read the rumor in TWO places that there will be four girls and seven guys – which is kinda how it’s shaking out, presuming they haven’t totally screwed Dmitry. As for what they’ve “always done” – well it’s been even numbers in the past and last season they had 16 couples – there is no “always” – they change it every season.
I guess we’ll find out.
@Heidi – They have HAD odd number of couples in the past too. In Fall of 2008 (Season 7) and Spring of 2009 (Season 8) they had 13 couples. Season 7: 7 girls & 6 guys and Season 8 the reverse…

I was referencing the two seasons that Marianya is talking about….I didn’t know the exact seasons but I knew that they have not always had an even number of celebrities. I know Marianya – that’s what I’m saying. They’ve had just about every combination and they change it every season. Just because they did something in the past doesn’t automatically mean they will do it again.

If Dmitry is out and Lacey is out I wonder if it’s because they are two very strong “rebels”. Don’t get me wrong I think both are fantastic……BUT you must agree at times they do things they KNOW they shouldn’t which of course upsets the judges. Maybe they want them to sit out a season. I’m sure as talented as they are we have not seen the last of them. Anyone remember “Ashley”……I believe she was on in seasons one and two? She had a baby and has not returned since. I heard rumors she was coming back…but so far nothing.
When you say Kym is not coming back. You are only referring to this upcoming season correct? She’s not gone for good I hope.

Cathy – I don’t believe that them being “rebels” has anything to do with them being out. It’s all to do with which celebrities are chosen for the season, and who is paired with them. The producers like rebels because they like anything that causes viewer interest. 🙂 The only things I’ve heard the producers complain about is people who don’t show up on time, and people who are boring!
I hardly consider Dmitry a “rebel” – he’s less a rebel than Derek or Maks, for sure. Dmitry just acted like he didn’t know what he was doing wrong until toward the end where he said “ah, we decided to go for the audience”. Derek, Maks and others have done that before. Heck, last season Maks intentionally put in a lift when he knew Carrie Ann couldn’t ding him for it (Foxtrot relay). I think he is boring though, and maybe that was the problem. Or maybe they just decided that Maks was a better fit for whatever celeb was involved (since I think the probably get the similar body types).

If they do add another newbie to the lineup it wouldn’t be to surprising as for Anna T. it’s great she’s back and perhaps her partner will take her places. Awsome job on the blog Heidi it’s great!

I cannot stand that Aidren guy………..He needs to go. The bad thing about that is we lose Edyta……….but I think he’s got an “ego” issue really bad one.
Well, I didn’t see the ego an Aiden, but I think he’s gonna go unless something changes on Monday night. And it could.
I am not pleased with Aiden and I believe it may be that ego thing. Pam Anderson deserves better and I wish it had been Dmitry. This guy seems to be too short for her and I don’t find him attractive. I know that sounds terrible but I am simply not impressed and wish DWTS stuck with one of the established professionals.
Aiden has an ego thing? Really? I don’t see that at all. He seems like a good-looking guy with a nice sense of humor.
Of course this is really my first exposure to him since I don’t watch All My Children (my mom does, and still loves him) and haven’t seen any interviews with him…just what they’ve shown on the show.
If I had to judge I’d say that Chad has more of an ego thing than Aiden does, but I think Chad’s is part of his personality and he seems to be able to laugh at himself along with the rest of us, so it’s not so bad.
