DWTS 10 Nicole & Derek Dance Comparison
Of course, what dance comparison series is complete without the dance done to recycled songs by the champions: Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough!
You thought Even and Anna had too many “recycled song” dances? Nicole and Derek had just as many. However, what differentiates Nicole/Derek to Evan/Anna is the fact that two of the recycled songs were done as freestyles in some capacity… so I guess that bumps Evan and Anna up the list. 🙂
Anyway to start towards the beginning of the year… There was that Jive to the contemporary songs SOS by Rihanna .
This song was first done by Season 3’s Willa Ford and Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Week 3
From Week 2: Nicole and Derek.
Two weeks later we have the Rumba done to Robert Flack’s The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face … Originally done on Week 5 by Season 6’s Priscilla Presley and Louis van Amstel.
On Week 4: Nicole and Derek
Looks like one song/dance wasn’t enough for Nicole and Derek for they also recycled the song: You Light Up My Life as done by LeAnn Rimes as a Waltz… originally done by once again Willa and Maks on Week 4.
Nicole and Derek on Week 7.
These next two comparisons are interesting, because although the song is recycled, the dance style was not…
For example, who could forget the hip thrusting action of Season 5’s Albert Reed and Anna Trebunskaya as they danced the Cha Cha to Elvis Presley’s A Little Less Conversation on Week 1?
While Nicole and Derek danced a Freestyle to this same song.
So let’s flip it the other way around? Leading into the finals, there was a series of posts dedicated to the Freestyle dances from Season 1 through Season 9. For any of you that may have been paying attention… Season 7’s Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson danced a Freestyle to Ike & Tina Turner’s Proud Mary .
While Nicole and Derek danced a Jive instead as their final dance of the season.
Well there you have it, dance comparisons of recycled songs for Season 10. I hope you enjoyed going down memory lane as I did… and here’s to looking forward to seeing new choreography to old songs!
Yeah, Freestyles are something different than choreography of a specific style to a particular piece of music. The worst offender was Maks doing the” You Never Can Tell” from Pulp Fiction complete with blonde wig. Uma Thurman’s hair wasn’t blond in the movie it was black. In fact, Erin would have been more like Uma with a Black wig. Maks just ripped the concept of a blond wig from Julianne. I thought the blond bob was initially a little weird, then when I saw it again I just thought how lazy.
Does this one count?

Jeniffer – Hello! Typically when I do any kind of comparisons I try not to “cross over” as I call it.. Meaning that couples dancing would be separate with group dancing which then would be separate from professional dance routines…
Thank you though! =) I professional routines always rock. =)
I like both Buble dances but I really enjoyed Nicole and Derek’s more. It had a great story to it and fun to watch.
Uma Thurman was like a thousand times drop dead gorgeous when she was still younger.-~”
Tina Turner will always be a legend in music history.;:`
i seen Uma personally and she is quite a tall lady,.`,-
i always love the songs of Elvis Presley, there would be no other singer like him,..
