Dancing With The Stars – TV Ratings for Oct. 18 – 24
It appears our show took a small dip in ratings last week. *shocked* Here are the prime-time viewership numbers compiled by the Nielsen Co. for Oct. 18-24. Where is Glee, House, and Hawaii-Five-O? No Blue Bloods either. (Heidi: Cute story about Vogue – she has this weird habit of writing “Dances with the Stars” instead of Dancing..pretty hilarious. I caught this one just in the nick of time before it posted that way. 🙂 You by any chance a Kevin Costner fan, Vogue?)

Where is Glee? it was awesome this week. If this cablevision thing didn’t happen, it would so have been in the top 20 for sure. On a side note, the Minissota vs green bay game was amazing.
That’s not too bad of a dip. Especially mid season. Seems like the excitement hits a bit of a lull now and then picks up as it becomes more clear who will make the finals and it only has good dancers left to be sent home.
I love Dances with Wolves. Great movie!
Last week Glee was a repeat. This week it should shoot up the scale.
Gosh. DWTS is down in the ratings? Can’t say I’m surprised. With all the themes and gimmicks this season, this show has taken a nosedive in my opinion. Why can’t they leave a good show alone? It wasn’t broken…………Oh, I did like the Easy Steps commercial though from last week, but only because I had the opportunity to have Derek delivered to my door. Forgot to call within 12 minutes, and missed getting him. Darn!
Weeellll…saying the ratings took a nosedive is a bit of an exaggeration. Last week it was 19.7 and this week it was 19.3 and the main difference for all shows seems to be Monday Night Football. Also, without looking at the past numbers and going only on my memory (which is admittedly faulty at times), the ratings seem to follow this same pattern every season. Starts out around 22 million and slides to around 19.5 or so. In any event, it remains in the top 5. It would have to take a worse hit than this to get them to not tinker.
Unless of course the good dancers get eliminated thanks to the producers screwing around, John. I mean, it’s really not that far fetched to think that Brandy and Jennifer don’t make the finals at this point. What if they lose the group dance?? Could be Brandy or Jennifer and not Kurt who goes home.
Ugh. C’mon, Hawaii 5-0! Anyone else catch this week’s episode and see the adorable little Hawaiian kid with the ukelele singing “Hey Soul Sister”? Too cute!
Wow…you know NBC’s programming lineup just kinda pales in comparison to ABC & CBS when the only impact they have on the top 20 is football 🙁
Glad to see CSI is still popular. Although I wonder if ratings will dip towards the end of this season when Marg Helgenberger leaves the show…that will mean only 3 original cast members left on the show (Nick, Sarah, & Jim). And Miami & NY are already kinda in the toilet…I’m afraid the CSI era might be drawing to a close. 🙁
First to fourth…GOOD! Hope it crashes like it should this week. Fourth to outside of the Top Ten would be justified. Celebrity judges who know NOTHING about the technical requirements of each dance. Are you kidding me??? Would the NFL make former players referees without extensive training? Maybe after the crash we’ll stop getting tiny dance floors, horrible biased judging, judges who know nothing about the dances they are judging, and robodialer supported bad competitors. Only thing that might bouy this week is the return of former entertaining competitors.
This is from reading from Immoral Minority site from which is gives a run down on how the votes are being done. I know I have read the so called voting schedule from DWTS but then who really knows what goes on.
” Plinbots can stuff the ballot box at DWTS all they want. It won’t matter these contests are all decided behind the scenes based on potential ratings. The audience / home vote means nothing;;;
All the numbers are totally rigged based on what ABC WANTS.
” does this mean that ratings are worth more then honesty and fair judges based on the dance ability of each one. No matter how bad they dance or lack of skill they are voted on WHO THEY ARE. Palins otherwords are the drawing card,
No in my book, this makes this whole season a POLTICAL AND BISED TOWARDS BRISTOL . Lets face it and be honest SHE CANNOT DANCE, I am not going to white wash this.
It has simply played out those who are really putting the effort and practice are being set up and used. This makes me angry.
Everyone, again I say this really destroys the DWTS program.
Its like most of these programs they soon become infected . Unfair judges and set up.
Sorry you can get on my case, but its my oponion and I still love to see DANCING GIVEN THE ELEGANCE AND GRACE THAT IS CAN BE.
Rob, what the hell are you talking about?? So some site says that “plinbots” are stuffing the ballot box on DWTS?? So what? What makes you so convinced they are correct? You do realize that anyone can write anything on the internet, right? Just read this blog if you don’t believe THAT.
So, because some random ass site (which I’ve never heard of, and I can bet a lot of other people here haven’t either) says that DWTS is rigged, you are totally convinced, Rob? Oh good grief…there goes any sort of credibility you MIGHT have had. Do you also believe in Bat Boy because those tabloids at the grocery store say he exists? And for once, I’m going to humor you: explain to me how Bristol’s presence on DWTS is “political”. Do you honestly think this is some convoluted scheme by the republican party to someone get Sarah Palin back in office? “Yah, first Bristol wins DWTS, and then we take back the White House!!!! BRILLIANT!!!” If anything I think Bristol’s presence on the show just makes that entire family look that much more ridiculous and fame-hungry – not exactly a boon for any future politcal moves Mama Palin may or may not be trying to make. And what in the hell does any of this have to do with TV ratings??? That’s what this particular discussion is about. Consider this me getting on your case – all this soapboxing you’re doing is becoming redundant and is bordering on being spam. I will delete it if it continues. I challenge you to discuss something other than Bristol for a week. You up for it? 🙂
Heide, I think you need to read the post,
it said Plinbots CAN stuff the ballot box at DWTS —–
I do not see how they get the correct number of people watching when the voting does not prove that many INDIVIDUAL people are counted, if they are allowed to vote several times, that does not mean people numbers watching.
This was also something that was written it was just example of how others are also seeing the DWTS contest.
No one really knows how this going to play out,
one can write their thoughtsm remember we are all entitled to express our views, you yourself have expressed along with others.
The post from Immoral Minority is also a site
that has people watching and they express their views. The ” message ” was someone else thoughts, I have to wonder also. How about it?????
Rob, I ask you again – just because a web site says that it’s true, it’s automatically true?? The rest of your post – well, it doesn’t make any sense and I can’t figure out what it is you’re trying to say. And actually, you are only allowed to express your views here as long as you aren’t hateful or spamming. You’re entitled to your views, but you’re only entitled to EXPRESS them here as long as you aren’t spamming or trolling. And frankly, you’re coming very close to being a troll. I reiterate Courtney’s question – can you talk about anything OTHER than Bristol??
I will also say this – THINK about my numbers post again and look what it took for Bristol and Kurt to stay and Audrina to go. Don’t look at it JUST from the perspective of how many votes Bristol and Kurt needed, but from the perspective of what would happen if Audrina weren’t getting any votes at all. The numbers that Bristol and Kurt need, are suddenly much smaller. Of course Audrina was getting some votes…but what if out of a million votes cast she was only getting 50k??? That’s only 5 percent of the vote, leaving 950k to split between the other 6 contestants – contestants who are ALL popular for one reason or another. Suddenly, it’s not so hard for Bristol and Kurt to stay, is it? I said for how many weeks that Audrina was fading into the woodwork and likely to be forgotten?? 3?? 4?? Well, on that I was correct.
Rob, If that was true about the voting being rigged, Do you think The Hoff woulda left first????? Heck No.
