SPOILERS!! DWTS Season 11, Week 6
I meant to post this last night and for some reason I never hit the button. Here it is now. 🙂
Another week another elimination and I already have lots of material for the Cheesecake Awards. Hint: Lacey, quit projecting your bleached brain onto other people. 🙂
Okay, enough blather (aka white space) to block the result in the auto tweet. Our eliminated couple tonight was Rick and Cheryl. Yes, I was as surprised as Lacey, even though I don’t think Rick’s dancing has been good for a while. Of course, I also commented that with a 7 point spread no one is truly safe – that’s just not very many votes. I still think that Kyle was utterly forgettable and he will probably leave before Bristol does. But it appears that I wasn’t the only one scratching my head at the praise heaped on Rick last night. He’s lovely, he’s nice – but his dancing wasn’t all that. Still think Bristol should have gone, but I think she’s destined for the final four.
Note to you Dial Idol and Learn to Dance watchers – Learn to Dance had Rick and Cheryl as number 1 (they were wrong last week too). Dial Idol had Rick and Cheryl at Number 4. I always call mine a guess based on the scores, but readers try to sell those sites as harbingers. Don’t do it or your favorite could go prematurely. VOTE for your favorite.
Before you all start talking about Bristol, Kyle and Kurt’s massive fanbases, lets review the numbers – it didn’t take much to send Rick home. Remember, for Rick to leave the following happened:
-Bristol got 11,000 more votes per 1 million votes cast than Rick, AND;
-Kyle got 5,500 more votes per 1 million votes cast than Rick.
That’s chump change, folks, compared to what the numbers have been in the past. Upset that Rick left instead of Bristol?? You can thank your judges who have continually overscored the hell out of her. Remember, the girl forgot steps and didn’t move her arms and got 3 8s and a 9 last night. Of course, Rick was overscored too, but how about we start giving people OTHER than Brandy and Jennifer scores they deserve. Bringing lesser dancers up to their level isn’t doing anyone any favors.
Just a note about overscoring people. I think it’s completely fine to give a “handicap” to the celebraties who have never had any kind of entertainment or dance experience. Bristol, Rick and Kurt are all people I would include in this as well as Audrina who has already been sent home. Someone like Brandy who has been in the entertainment industry and has been working with choreographers since she was 14 years old should be held to a higher standard then the other dancers. To be honest with you it annoys the heck out of me when they bring people like her on as well as Nicole from the Pussy Cat Dolls, Mel B, etc who have all had over 10 years professional dance lessons. The fun for me is watching non-dancers turn in to dancers and watching them grow and improve. Bristol is a much better dancer and has gained confidence since week 1 and I enjoy watching her grow. Same for Kyle Massey which is why I vote for them and believe others do as well. That’s just my opinion though.
That might be what you want to see, Brittany, but it’s not what I want to see. I want to see a good dancer win the competition. None of these people have had ballroom lessons, nor have they spent 6 to 8 (to 10) hours a day training to dance. Bristol wore a monkey suit and admitted that she forgot most of her steps and they still gave her 6s – that has nothing to do with having danced before. She messed up and wasn’t penalized for it the way anyone else – including Kyle – would be.
Agreed Brittany..And I think Bristol os really hot too so that plays a part…..Just a lil bit 😛
Carrie Ann tweeted “Shocking elimination tonight – – I think the most shocked I’ve ever been in all 11 seasons” That surprises me.
Well thats true too Heidi…Gosh i da know! 😛
Ofcourse it would shock her. Sheshead over heels for that dude…
Sudennly im really wanting to watch old full episodes of season 10. Where could i find those? Anyone? lol
I didn’t watch, but I knew the outcome as soon as the teams were announced. Three points meant protection or letting someone go, unless you have fan bases who will power vote all night.
So the immunity thing that People wrote about was correct. All three of the ones who got 24 were standing up there. And the Michael Jackson dance was good. It was less gimmicky, resisting the need for bandannas and soul patches, and resorting to Derek doing yet another backflip.
But anyone who gets a non-dancer like Pallin is going to lose the challenge. That’s a given.
Of course the one thing that really smells is the individual dances.
Of course only Rick and Kyle got ACTUAL iconic dances.
The other dances were either softballs, in the case of Kelly a 23 on a first dance while a good score for a first dance should not be an ICONIC dance for week 7. Emmit Smith gets a 19 for his Tango. Surely not Iconic and simple to overcome. Even Brandy getting Gilles Foxtrot, while a good dance, was not the one he’s remembered for. And certainly Drew Lachey’s Tango? People thought he Tango’d to Thriller, that’s how memorable that dance is. And if it was supposed to be all ballroom then why did Kyle get Paso Doble?
It would l have been interesting if Kurt got Apolo’s Samba, or Bristol got Nicole’s Paso, because they would then be suitably compared to the original.
It would definitely make me think twice about Kurt’s inability to move his hips or Bristol’s inability to take on anything more than the most pedantic choreography.
It wouldn’t matter if the originals were there or not. If Apolo can pick a team via sattelite, (eyeroll) then the others can skype their 10 paddle.
Regardless, with all the shenanigans, a victory for Jen if it happens will be a hollow one.
I would have prefered Kyle to go instead.
Andie that immunity thing was not true, Kristi herself said it. Just it so happend that everybody on that team got the votes. Get your facts straight. Again.
Amen and Amen. The scores and praise Bristol gets are beyond me. If they are going to consistently overscore her, then the judges need to wipe the shocked, disappointed looks off their faces when someone like Audrina goes home!
People wasn’t correct at all, Andie – nice try twisting that one around though. Team Kristi and Team Apolo got the scores they deserved and someone went home. That’s how it works. If you want to continue to comment, I suggest you watch the show – otherwise you don’t know what you’re talking about and it’s trolling.
Not twisting anything. The difference between standing up there and not was the 3 points. The other team got immunity.
Andie, both teams gave a nod to the freestyle that they danced to in the team dances. Honestly, I don’t remember Kristi’s freestyle, but I THINK that the suits the girls had on at first, before ripping them off, were similar to Kristi’s, but hopefully, someone can correct me… And Apolo’s “thing” was the bandana and the soul patch, so that definitely was a nod to his freestyle. As for Derek and the flip, I think part of it was wanting to allow Kurt to do something he was comfortable with, and that was CATCHING!
Kurt was by far the weakest dancer on Team Apolo, and he really could have stuck out like a sore thumb, since he was the only male celebrity on the team. And, Bristol was by far the weakest dancer on Team Kristi, and she was the only female celebrity on the team. I think Team Apolo seemed to do better with the choreography, adjusting it so that Kurt dancing with 2 male pros didn’t stand out as much as he could have, while on Team Kristi, Bristol stood out more, as the only female with 2 pros.
I’ve warned you several times about spamming, trolling and the racist commentary, Andie. Do I need to go to the effort of actually blocking you?
Andie, how do you know what was terrible and what wasn’t if you didn’t watch????? You seem very angry about something though.
Exactly my point, Meggie. If you want to comment, Andie, watch the show and compose your thoughts into a post – not 5 posts filled with race baiting.
Good-bye, Andie.
Oh, and be my guest. Block free speech. That’s what this is about.
“In practice, the right to free speech is not absolute in any country, and is subject to limitations, such as ‘hate speech’.”
Adios, Andie.
Wow Andie, the conspiracy theories that come out of your mouth is quite baffling since you didn’t actually watch and the fact that you never have reliable sources to back you.
1st off, 3 points does not guarantee that you are safe, but the producers typically like to save the team that ends up winning first. Plus, they didn’t actually reveal a bottom 2, so for all we know, someone from Team Apolo could’ve been in the bottom but not the lowest overall score. It’s been proven in the past that 3 points does not guarantee that you’re safe. (Think Audrina, Marie, and even Jerry Rice was saved when he was way below LIsa Rinna)
2nd, I thought having one of the iconic dances was a bit of an advantage, since most people would know those dances. Sure it means that they’ll be compared, but I would think they would be more memorable and more people would vote. Drew’s tango was sort of iconic in the way that it was the dance he scored his first 30. I remember Kelly for her V.Waltz because that’s the dance that made everyone realize that she’s not the person everyone thought she was, and she did it as her final dance. The only ones I thought weren’t iconic were Gilles foxtrot and Emmitt’s tango. With Emmitt’s, I thought Kurt was at a disadvantage because it was Emmitt’s lowest scoring dance, not memorable or iconic, and probably had the worst song out of everyone.
3rd, I’m not even going into your racism tirade, because it’s simply not true and maybe it’s you that have the problem with race.
4th, Kurt had more hips in his rumba than Rick did, so there’s that.
5th, Rick was sort of a shocker for me, even though I didn’t think his dance was that good and it was just the judges fawning over him again for a mediocre dance, because I thought he had more fans than Kyle and Bristol. When I saw the ones left, I honestly thought Kyle was going home, but turns out it was Rick. So obviously, the majority of the public didn’t see what you saw in Rick, and that’s why he was eliminated. Maybe it was the judges constant overscoring, or maybe he just wasn’t as memorable, or maybe it’s just a personal thing, but the fact is that he recieved the lowest and it’s not all a conspiracy theory against his race or anything. Besides, he should be proud to have lasted this long, since NBA players don’t last long, of course Clyde is the only one we can go off of. While with Kurt, football players do relatively well, even the ones that don’t care i.e. Lawrence Taylor, or the ones that were just downright bad i.e. Michael Irvin. Disney stars last long too so don’t underestimate them.
6th, Team Apolo was clearly better and definitely worked to strengths of every team member. Team Kristi, while entertaining, it looked like Mark outdanced everybody and made the others look slow. Plus they went out of sync a couple times.
Len is definitely on crack. Maks’ crack to be precise! It seems as if Len is scared of Maks’ after the tantrums he threw last season. Brandy was way overscored. To be honest, I feel like Maks’ choreo is pretty safe and not interesting enough. I hope he changes it up soon cause it’s really boring.
Oy, Bristol should have went home. Sure.. she improved but other people are BETTER than her. Also, if she continues to be safe, then she might as well win the whole thing.
I wasn’t surprised Rick was in the bottom three but I think Kyle and Bristol need 2 step it up (Kyle was great on Monday but he can probably do a lot better and Bristol still seems unconnected…..she was so good last week but this week was just ok.). They are probabaly the next 2 go in the next two weeks. On a side note, Kurt is improving a lot. If he keeps this up, he might start getting 9s on indidual dances soon. I honestly thought that they would give Anna a dud this season but she has proven she is quite possibley the best female pro on the show since Julianne left.
So there are three black contestants out of twelve, and all three last til the second half. One or two of them may end up in the final three. I truly believe that racism is still rampant in this country, and that a lot of the hatred directed at the Obama administration by the tea party is thinly veiled bigotry. However, I don’t think that racism is a rampant problem on DWTS – especially not by the producers. Are there voters out there that are racist? Of course. I don’t think there’s anything the show can do about that. But I think regardless of race, Rick was not a fun dancer to watch. So people chose to vote for others that they enjoy more. No big racial conspiracy there.
It’s funny, because I think Andie has made some insightful and interesting comments on this blog – but when it came to Rick and Kurt she was absolutely rabid and illogical. Oh well, you can’t clamor for free speech on a private blog – you don’t have that right. How ridiculous.
Vin, Anna has really impressed me so far this season – she’s put a lot of musicality into her dances that some seem to lack.
Steve, I couldn’t have said it better myself 🙂 And Figamentation, I agree, Andie did have quite a few very insightful things to say…but racially offensive, flagrant accusations without any factual basis are not something that will be tolerated here. We pride ourselves on being a site that allows its readers to maturely and logically express their feelings for the show (unlike the ABC boards, which are rampant with malice and unfactual claims and are generally not a very friendly place to post), and we want this to be a community where no one feels alienated or offended – which is why trolling, spamming, and racist commentary directed at ANY group are unacceptable. I am proud to have such insightful, intelligent, rational posters on this site…I just want to maintain that kind of stimulating, friendly environment for everyone 🙂
Yeah I think part of Kurt’s appeal for me this season has been Anna. This year has been her strongest yet, I think. She’s designed some great dances for a not great dancer, has really instilled some entertainment AND musicality into them. Plus she’s shown more of her personality as she has gotten more and more comfortable in front of the camera. While I think it’s Jennifer’s to lose, I also would not be surprised if the Kurt Warner fanbase or a strong finish by Brandy gave us our first Russian/Ukrainian pro winner.
Well, I’ve said it before, but to me was clear that Rick was the one leaving.
The thing that heid pointed is true. As the judges continue scoring people wrong way, this things will happen.
Bristol’s waltz had a too-much-safe choreography, and I didn’t like. really.
Hope she gets samba next week so she can mess a lot… hehehe =p
She is pretty great this season. If they would give her somebody younger like Evan next time around (a boybander, actor, singer, whatever I might have missed) she could be amazing. Its a shame that she has never won the show yet.
Well, Carlos, according to Mark they are dancing Argentine Tango. Which should be REALLY interesting to watch. For a number of reasons. I seriously doubt that she will be able to master that dance to the level that a final 5 person SHOULD master it. So, will the judges continue to score her up, or are they going to finally treat the competition like it’s nearing the end and the dancers should be better?? Is Mark going to give her really easy choreo so that she can do it, and will the judges score that as high as the much more difficult choreo that Jennifer or Brandy could (did) do??
I can’t even remember how many times Len has said, “We’re picking the final 4 now and that’s really not up to the standard.” Will Bristol get that treatment?
Carlos, I’m guessing that Bristol’s latin dance will be samba. The only other option is paso doble, and it seems unlikely that she’d get 2 intense dances in the same week. Of course I also guessed that Emmitt’s tango wouldn’t be considered an iconic dance. LOL As Anna would say, “so there we go.” 🙂
And once again I’m here without being able to control myself and having to make my comments.
What can I say? I really was not surprised with the elimination of Rick. A few weeks ago I’ve been saying that he had no improvements, just that their dance was good but not good enough and totally forgettable. Their performances were boring and mostly made me sleepy. Not to mention that many times he was ridiculously overscored and absurdly praised by Carie Ann, which made him look like one of the best dancers, which he definitely wasn’t.
I agree that Bristol is far from being a good dancer and has already reached her time to go. Yes, I also agree that many times she is overscored, but at least she shows a small improvement every week, thing that Rick had not done since the second week. He just felt comfortable in the position he was, or at least that was what he transpired. I do not think he was just as guilty in all this, for me the biggest guilty was Cheryl, who did not give him the best dancing that she used to give to their partners. She seemed to prefer to stay in their comfort zone than challenge him.
I think people would rather see someone who is challenged every week like Bristol is, even if this person committed some mistakes, than someone who does something without mistakes, but extremely
simple as Rick did. To me this is one of the major reasons for Bristol and Kurt continue in the program, they are challenged every week and they go there with all the courage and face the challenges rather than simply staying in the simplicity of the dance (like Rick and Audrina had been doing – probably fault of their partners).
Folks, again I’ll repeat that this is just my simple and humble opinion.
Kisses and hugs from Brazil
Ps: I love this site. You are simply sensational.
Andie! TEAM APOLLO DID NOT GET IMMUNITY!!! Period. Jennifer has a huge fanbese as does Kurt ” Im pretty sure thats safe to say ” and Brandy is an awesome dancer as is Jennifer G. Im not suprised at all they were all safe! Get your facts straight and stop trolling, Andie. Please
Andie if your not gonna watch dont post!
I agree with Figmentation, I think Kurt’s appeal is Anna, and the fact that he’s just a genuinely nice guy without any “bad rep,” like some of the former football players on the show (Lawrence Taylor). I also have to admit, while it was really nice to see Anna with Evan last season, I think we lost a lot of her feisty personality that I had seen in her with her earlier partners. Also as much as I love Evan, there are times when I felt that he wanted to be partnered with Cheryl, based on his tweets and how he is always around her now. That’s just my opinon. With Kurt, she has a genuinely nice guy that is trying to learn to dance, and has a lot of personality to him and it brings out the personality I love in Anna.
I’m so glad to read about all this Anna love. :cheer
Yes, I think Anna is my favourite female pro these days too, alhough I do miss Julianne.
If juliane was still on the show the ratings would be way higher.
Andie, I agree with the others. If you aren’t going to watch, how can you judge on it fairly? I’m starting to find a lot of your post to be really offensive.
Good comments Marcella. Watch an NBA game and the combination of strength, tempo, vertical leap, flexibility, rhythm and improvisation that they display—all at great speed—one would expect them to be excellent dancers. Football players do have the discipline and a lot of footwork. The plays are choreographed in both sports, more so in football. BTW, Kurt Warner to my knowledge was known for his arm strength and leadership, not that fluid in the pocket, sacked more than average. It would be interesting to see how soccer or rugby players would do on the show.
Heidi, I really hope judges be fair next week.
I know that there’s a lot of people here who loves Anna T., but I can’t understand why, even you saying… heheheh
I like her, and she is an amazing pro, but… I preffer Julianne, Chelsie, Kym, Lacey, Karina… but it’s question of opinion. And Julianne is my fav female pro ever.
Btw, have you notice how the pros have changed their behavior? Cheryl, for example. She was a steamy-extremely-excited-tough teacher with Lachey… and now, very soft. Karina… she looked so worried and impacient with Mario Lopez… she laughed with Sorrentino… Anna played the rough russian teacher and now is sweet since Evan… people change. Except Maksim… LOL
(may I write something in portuguese? =p)
P.S.: You curious guys, try it on google translator… hehehe =p
I think that the best dancers should always be kept. Bristol is a sweet girl, but clearly is the weakest dancer. Kyle has improved as much, if not more, than Bristol. Rick has also improved greatly. Don’t get me started on Jennifer. I don’t see that much improvement with her, but I am sure she gets sympathy votes, since she is always whining about something. Oh well, if you want to keep your favorite just vote. That is what I do.
Carlos, orkut, eh? lol I did try google translator as you suggested. I figured that if you could so kindly speak English to us, I could show interest in your native language. 🙂
I’m guessing Carlos said something about Brazilian DWTS. So let me put it this way: hrvatski Ples sa zvijezdama je totalno smeće. Premalo ljudi i premalo novaca za produkciju. Ili je možda problem što nemamo Toma Bergerona.
Since Carlos opened the way to use our native language, I’ll enjoy it and I’ll write something in Portuguese.
And since I’m a nice person, I will not do the curious to try to understand what I wrote looking on google translator (this definitely is not a good idea, LOL), here’s the translation for those interested:
Carlos do not worry, because I am already participating in your orkut community and from now on will try to comment there too. It really would be quite interesting if the guys here also be featured, but the Ameican not really use orkut … It’s nice to know I’m not the only “crazy” Brazilian that almost need a miracle to get to see DWTS … LOL
Maggie thanks! I appreciate your kindness.
And thanks also to all of you who understand our effort to write in English (sometimes not as easy as it sounds) and forgive our mistakes (I know I make many, lol).
To end a special thanks to Heidi, Courtney, John, Voguerista and all who make this site work. As I said, if it were not for you I’m sure many here would not have such opportunity to follow the program.
Thank you Marcela!!!xxx We love and appreciate you too!!!
Oh, thanks, Meggie. Sometimes I get frustrated because I know I can’t express myself in english the way I want, but it’s ok. I’m glad you guys don’t troll me… hahaha Portuguese is not that easy, but I think its a beautiful language, very musical, I like it. =] Orkut is a kind of old facebook, very popular in Brazil.
Absolutely, Marcela. They do an amazing job for all we addicted to DwtS.
Sasa,
Brazilski Ples sa zvijezdama je također otpada, iako mnogi ljudi uživaju. je učinjeno tijekom igre pokazuju i voditelj je grozan. Tom Bergeron kao što je nema!
LOL, sorry, my google-translated-croatian sucks… =p
I try to say to sasa that brazilian DwtS (called Dança dos Famosos) sucks.
It goes on air as a sketch of a kind of talk show with famale dancers background… I don’t like it. BUT there are some brazilian dances that I love such as gafieira and forró.
If you have time, check it:
Samba de Gafieira (our original ballroom samba) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKVPGSF4Yr4 (actually, not well-executed. Our pro skills are not that good, specially the female)
Forró – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HRjIrsWZys
This is an amazing samba de gafieira: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z93EzuBBkjM
And this is a simple but very nice forró that I really like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_odq4ar4ARw
Sorry… I got excited… =p
I’m gutted at Rick’s leaving. Not only was he good to look at (his last name is Fox for a reason 8) ) He seemed like he had the potential to go far. I saw that a lot of people were predicting him to be in the Top 3, so I wonder how his fanbase let him down? It doesn’t seem to register in people’s heads that if you don’t vote, your favorite may be sent home. I believe it’s called the bystander effect. Look it up. 🙂 Last season I wanted to vote for Evan, but due to my extreme laziness I forgot to vote and Evan lost. I felt like it was all my fault. 🙁 I knew it wasn’t (I hope -_-), though, and that got me to understand. I’m currently voting for Team Schmurgles. 😀 I’m a kid like that.
I will seriously miss Rick. And Cheryl! She’s one of my favorite female pros.
P.S.: I’ll only understand if you speak in English or Spanish. 😛
SOMEONE SPEAK SPANISH!!!! I BEG YOU!!!! PLEASE!!!!
HA! Five different faces! By the way, I want to know… what faces can you make on here? (or “smilies” as some may call it)
Lola, I’ll try to dabble in spanish (I have Mexican blood in me too). Hola Lola? Como estas? Estas disfrutando de la programa de Baile? Para mi, no es nada comparado al ultimo vez con la Nicole y el Evan y todos ellos. Pero para mi, estoy votando para la Brandy. Y tu?
Gee, I hope I said that correctly! I’m not sure how to say Season in spanish. 😉
I understand you Carlos, my english get me frustrated sometimes too.
Carlos, that amazing samba link really is amazing. And thanks for the attempted Croatian. Here’s one Croatian song that maybe you could dance to.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhGdAPibZOo
I’m afraid they are gonna kick us out if we continue to spam.
Nathan, I’m voting for Brandy and Kyle. 🙂 Brandy’s been a surprise for me, since I had never seen her dance in her music videos (well, barely), and the fact that she completely kills out there encourages me to vote for her. And Kyle’s a kid like me, so how can I not vote for him? 😀 I enjoy Jennifer, too (I can’t even do the splits!), but I bet she’s already getting a lot of votes, too, so I have a feeling she’s safe. It helps that she has Derek as a partner, too. 😉
Well, I speak Spanish fluently (it was my first language), but I have a hard time writing it down, since I grew up learning English. But I do understand what you wrote, Nathan. And I don’t feel that this season compares to last season, either. 🙁
Lola, I’m soooo happy you understood what I wrote! I like Jennifer too, but I want her to go out and put everyone to shame so to speak, but she seems to be missing a fire. And I know she’s 50 years old and all, but I think she has it in her and she’ll do good. If she wins, it will be 100% earned. But I’m on Brandy’s side for now! 🙂
Thanks for understanding my spanish!!!
