Pure DWTS – ‘Come On Everyone, Let’s Dance’ Media

Just a few things to share with you today. First of all and drum rolls please, “Dancing With The Stars” has been nominated for NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Reality Series” along with American Idol, America’s Next Top Model, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and Sunday Best. You can cast your vote (you have to be a NAACP Member or become one) HERE. The 42nd NAACP Image Awards will take place and air on FOX March 4th.

Speaking of award shows, Julianne Hough has been pictured at a Golden Globe pre-party this week. I wonder if we’ll ever see her dance on the show again now that she’s hit movie and music stardom? I hope so. The Golden Globes are taking place on Sunday on NBC. Maybe she will grace the Red Carpet with Ryan Seacrest on one arm and Derek on the other? 🙂

My google alerts have been filled with the US press finally catching the news that Maks is filming The Bachelor in the Ukraine which he announced last month. It’s funny how they are slow to catch on to this news. Erin Andrews said the same in this new interview on Access Hollywood. lol She also talks about her and Maks’ friendship and you can see a few of the clips of him om the show.

In other videos to share, here is some footage of Cheryl dancing and teaching at the Mountain View event Monday night. You can read more at the link on the night as well as see some new cool pictures of Cheryl. I love the new tag line she has for her dance studio: “Our dance studio tag line is ‘transforming lives, one dance at a time'”.

Louis is out there teaching dance as well for “Dance Blast” this month. Below is a picture and a take on how he’s helped a fan from The Herald Tribune.

“On a very real level, it can relieve depression and anxiety. It can also awaken your creative, inner child. I’m 62, but I’ve stopped putting myself inside the box that I’m a senior.”

That kind of change is one of the reasons Van Amstel started his “La Blast” group fitness workout three and a half years ago in L.A., where the native of the Netherlands now lives. He was in Sarasota recently to teach the workout to instructors Danas Jaksevicius and Sofia Sokolenko from the Empire Ballroom Studio and to offer an introductory class.

“I realized for so many people, dance has been a way back from cancer, from depression, from divorce,” says Van Amstel, who has appeared on seven of the 11 seasons of the hit ABC show. “I want to create a lifestyle for them, not just a program.”

If you are in the L.A. area, you can see “Ballroom With A Twist” from Friday, January 20 – Saturday, February 13. Edyta, Alec, Jonathan, and Anna Trebunskaya will be performing. Jane Seymour and Gilles Marini serve as hosts. If you’d like ticket information and more details, visit The Canyon News. According to a new tweet by Edyta, it sounds like it might be getting some new choreography.

From MSNBC, here is more from Paul Lee (ABC President) with a little on what’s taking place right now for the show and this upcoming season. He is careful not to say too much.

Lee said ABC is in the middle of securing the next crop of names for their top rated reality dancing competition, but nothing was set yet for the show, which returns in March 2011.

“We have not cast yet, and we’re right in the middle and we don’t usually talk about who we’re pursuing, but obviously we’re gonna look for a really interesting cast like we did last time,” he said.

While casting is still taking place, it is unlikely at this point that “Dancing” will pair up two people of the same-sex as has been suggested in several online reports, something which recently happened on the Israeli version of the franchise.

“Not decided, not there,” Lee said when asked if “DWTS” might feature a same-sex ballroom pair.

“In general, across the network, representing the lesbian and gay community is a fantastic thing,” he added, but noted there are “no initial plans” for two men or two women to dance together on the celebrity reality dance show.

Lastly, be sure to tune into “Live To Dance” tonight. Mark Ballas has been helping a dance group from Utah called the “Vibe Dancers“. According to his twitter, he met with them this past week and watched them in rehearsals. I hope they show their story with him in it. That would be fun.

Ok, that wraps up this media post for your Wednesday. Keep on dancin’ and I hope you are all being good. 😉 xx
