Dancing With The Stars 2011 – Carrie Ann Inaba Gets Engaged On Live TV & Details On Her Engagement Ring

The timing couldn’t have been better. At the top of the show, Inaba had told Regis Philbin and the audience that the stories about her being engaged simply weren’t true, though she had mentioned in an interview that she was anticipating a summer wedding.

She even bared her naked ring finger before the camera, as the audience let out a collective – and sympathetic – “Aww.”

A bit later, show guest Jake Gyllenhaal presented Inaba with a mock engagement ring.

But then came the real thing….

Carrie Ann was engaged on LIVE With Regis and Kelly today. I can’t embed the video, but, you can see it happen >>>>HERE. Her face is priceless at the surprise of her fiance Jesse Sloan showing up. Special thanks to PureDWTS readers Lori and Zach for this news!!

Here are some fun details on Carrie Ann’s engagement ring from People.com.

“Jesse came in a few months ago,” Ann Mangini of Santa Monica’s Rafinity jewelers tells PEOPLE. “He had a very clear idea of ring style and diamond cut: princess cut in a clean platinum mounting.” As they worked to design the ring, Mangini presented him with several different sparklers, and Sloan ultimately selected the 2½-carat, D-color, princess-cut diamond he presented to his girlfriend of two years Thursday morning on Live with Regis and Kelly. But there’s more to the gem than meets the eye. “Since the ring was so very simple, for a little flair I suggested we set both his and Carrie Ann’s birthstones hidden on the inside of the ring,” Mangini says. “[It’s] a Rafinity signature detail and a way to symbolically join the happy couple.” So while not visible to the eye, Inaba’s birthstone, garnet, and Sloan’s birthstone, which happens to be diamond, are both “artfully” embedded in the ring, as well.

Below is picture Carrie Ann posted on her twitter today of the ring.

DWTS 2011, Season 12 – Wendy Williams and Tony Dovolani Dish on Their Dances Thus far and Their Upcoming Dance (Video)

Yesterday, Tony made an appearance on Wendy’s show to talk about their dance this past Monday. He says Wendy worked really hard last week and it paid off. He said they did their dance and they left everything on the dancefloor for the audience to decide their fate. They also talk about their coming dance (the Fox Trot). They plan to wear “Cobalt Blue” to represent her personal story for “Story Week”. But, that’s all she would say.

Dancing With The Stars Season 12 – Mark Ballas Defends The Jive

Mark has penned again for USA Today and this time in defense of he and Chelsea’s Jive this past week. Here is a take. I still think he was pushing it too much, but, I can understand his side of it better after hearing it….especially if he didn’t pick the “Panic At The Disco” song.

A lot of people have been asking me if the choices I made were worth the risk. The answer? I struggle over the position it put Chelsea in and the stress it caused her; however, I don’t regret utilizing everything Chelsea has to give. Chelsea has unbelievable skills and to not maximize those skills would be unfair to her and our audience. Besides, what our audience has yet to have the chance to see in Chelsea but, watched in Bristol last season, is that unbelievable work ethic and desire to be the best they can be.

As a pro, having that quality in your partner not only makes it easier for you to take risks, you jump at the opportunity to go for it. Last season, I would tell people that if I could take Bristol’s heart, passion and dedication, and put them into someone who has the physical ability to be a professional dancer, you would witness the most amazing experience. This season, I got just what I asked for in Chelsea. I can’t wait for you all to enjoy watching her talent unfold each week.

Since DWTS and my personal life go hand in hand, I can’t reflect upon one without the other. I’ve been thinking about our Jive a lot since last night and I keep going back to the process of making my album. The album has a little bit of everything in it and we pushed boundaries the same way I did in the Jive.

But it confuses people in the music business when you do that, because they like to put things into categories. For example, what radio format does it fit? It’s a lot like how the judges wished our Jive was more textbook for their evaluation process. For my record, I was fortunate to be in the hands of a great producer, Rob Chiarelli, something that I never had the opportunity to do before.

I was able to trust him in getting my vision down without ending up with a record that was all over the map. He took that vision, helped pushed the boundaries I was pushing, and yet stayed within the framework. Rob has the experience, wisdom and creativity to do that. The celebs on DWTS need us to be that person for them and I actually thought I did that with the Jive.

From the audience and fan response to our performance, our mission was accomplished. Not to mention my mom’s critique! She is the best in the world at instructing dancers and when we watched the performance again after the show, she saw 75% Jive, 25% entertainment and lots of details. It takes a lot to impress my mom and we blew her away with our creativity. That meant a lot to me.

Heidi’s Note: Dude, she’s your MOM. 😉

DWTS 2011 Season 12 – Mike Catherwood & Lacey Schwimmer Discuss Their Last Night & Dancing Journey (Videos)

Lacey and Mike made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and another appearance on Good Morning America today to talk about their dance journey. They talk of their chemistry and how it was true ABC asked them to cool their sexual tones down. Mike jokes about his dancing too and how awful it was, but, I don’t think he gives himself enough credit. He danced a lot better Monday night and I was loving his sexy moves last night on the results show. Anyway, check it out and more below. He’s a hoot. Atleast Dancing With The Stars gave him some exposure and I have a feeling we’ll see more of him in the future….hopefully, filling Regis Philburn’s spot on “Regis and Kelly” when Regis retires.

Also, here is what Mike told People.com after the show last night.

“I’m sure there are a lot of past competitors that sparked a dancer within them, but I am not one of those people,” Catherwood told PEOPLE following Tuesday’s elimination show. “If anything, the only relief that comes with being eliminated tonight is knowing that I don’t have to go back in and frustrate myself and Lacey with my horrible dancing.”

While the L.A.-based KROQ disc jockey, who earned the lowest scores in the first two weeks of competition, may not be walking away with a newly instilled passion for the ballroom, he’s not exactly leaving empty handed, either.

“I’ll take away a friend,” Catherwood said says of Schwimmer. “It’s been a great experience for that reason and that reason alone. You realize as you get a little older … that nothing else really matters in life except the relationships you develop, and I’ve been lucky enough to develop a lot of them – but most importantly, Lacey.”

The funnyman admits his early departure is disappointing but considers the overall experience to be a success.

“In a weird way, I feel like I’ve matured, because I faced something that was profoundly intimidating and embarrassing and faced it head on,” says Catherwood. “If you can count on one hand all these moments that you’ll remember for the rest of your life, then I can take away knowing that this was one of them.”

After everything he’s said, I think he came out a winner in a different sense. He knows what’s the most important and that’s all that matters in the end.

DWTS 12 – Dancing With The Stars Backgrounds and Time Warps (Videos)

Good Morning America did a cool spread on the dancing couples before they hit the dance floor. It shows them were they just little to now….including some of our pros. Really cute.

On a related note, Len Goodman explains why all three judges are important with each of their backgrounds and how it makes the judging panel unique as a whole. He explains why he wants the couples to stick to the rules of Ballroom dancing versus all the modern-day theatrics. Carrie Ann and Bruno explain their dancing backgrounds before they did the show and what think is important when judging as well.

Vote for the Dancing with the Stars 2011 Winner

As you all know, one of the great things about having a popular Dancing with the Stars blog is that we can run polls and get an idea of who will be the winner of Dancing with the Stars 2011. Ok, so the polls aren’t always perfect, but the accuracy of our Dancing with the Stars polls has been pretty phenomenal. Plus, if nothing else it’s great fodder for those of us who follow all the Dancing with the Stars fun.

On that note, it’s time to vote for which couple will be the Dancing with the Stars 2011 winner. I’ll follow up later with the results of the poll and who the Pure DWTS readers believe will be the winner of season 12.

DWTS 2011 – The Dancing With The Stars Cast After The Results Show Week 2 (Videos)

PopTVDotCom has a fun video up of some the cast out on the town after the results show. Check out what Tom Bergeron’s says about the “Deer Hunting Lights” and the “Velcro suit”. LOL. Maks is a hoot too for what he says on making babies with Kirstie.

Edit To Add: Here are a couple of more videos of the stars after the show being interviewed by the paparazzi. These are good too!

Dancing With The Stars 2011 – Costume Designer Wanted To Interpret Icons Ginger Rogers, Veronica Lake, and Donna Reed

And I’d say he did just THAT! Stylist has a new article up for how Randall Christensen came up with the “retro” costuming this week. Here is take, but, be sure to read more at the link.

Kirstie Alley: Just two weeks into the competition, Christensen says he’s already altering dresses to make them smaller for the former “Fat Actress” star who has pledged to shed 40 pounds dancing. Such was the case with the sublime ballgown he designed in a peachy shade of Alley’s choosing. “Kirstie is a wonderful example of how hard work and dedication will pay off with a more sleek body,” he says. “Dancing just makes the body more toned, which forces the costumes to be taken in and in and in!”

Kendra Wilkinson: Christensen let Ginger Rogers inspire Wilkinson’s royal blue and fuchsia ballgown with elbow length hand-dyed gloves. Despite the Playmate’s fears of not seeming lady-like, “I actually think Kendra channeled some of that Old Hollywood glamor,” Christensen says. “Because of that she had a wonderful payoff this week.”

Ralph Macchio: Christensen’s team sewed more than 10,000 hematite crystals on the former “Karate Kid’s” bedazzzled jacket.

Petra Nemcova: The model, once again, played an active role in designing the red and yellow vintage-inspired dress and wide-brimmed hat that was a nod to Brinkley’s turn in ex-husband Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” music video. Nemcova ripped the dress skirt off mid-jive to reveal her model frame. “We had to have a hot and sexy skirt for the reveal and what’s hotter than a red mini-skirt with tons of beaded fringe?”

Below are some pictures of the Dancing With The Stars Hair Team getting Karina and Petra ready for Monday night.

So, if you had to pick your favorite costumes this week, which would they be? My faves were Kenda and Kym!!
