SPOILERS!!! DWTS Season 12, Week 7 – The Results
Well, well, well….I am somewhat happy to have been wrong because I do think that Romeo has been steadily improving. But I was starting to like Kendra as well…that’s right folks, my number 2 choice based on the numbers has exited the ballroom. Hee – I also called it right re: Mark and Chelsea being in jeopardy up to the last minute. Watch your hands, boy. π
Tomorrow, I’m going to run all the numbers a different way that will show how the extra judge skewed the results and actually gave Romeo the shot at staying around over Kendra. He made it easier, anyway.
Mixed feelings about Kendra leaving. Im glad it wasn’t Romeo but sad it wasn’t Mark. Chelsie is cute and I like her alot but Mark irks me xD. Later, Kendra! π
I’m overall happy with how that transpired. I was liking Kendra again, I feel kind of bad that she left just when her attitude turned around and was improving dance-wise. But, overall, I think the right celebrity was sent home. Mark got a buffet of humble pie this week, Len calling him out and he and Chelsea being put in the faux bottom two AGAIN. Hopefully it’ll encourage him to turn back around. It’s going to really hurt to see anyone go home at this point (except Mark, depending on if he straightens up). I love all the celebrities left, so not looking forward to Tuesday night for the next two weeks. I gotta say though, Kendra left on a good note for me. Very classy exit and she really was more delightful this week and last.
Well, you and Courtney were right about Romeo having the votes because of his ‘pimp spot’ last night. But it was not much to overcome in the first place. I’m glad it’s Kendra and not him because I look forward to his upcoming dances with Chelsie. Heart her!
To me, Chelsea is the best dancer left and it would be a shame if she didn’t make it to the final just because of her partner, but it could happen, remember Brandy?
@Fatna, I’m not sure it was her partner who caused Brandy to not make the finals, but then again, I could be remembering wrongly, because Maks is being so pleasant and funny this season… And I still love the faces he makes when Kirstie is talking with Brooke.
@Will… Mark? Humble Pie? Surely you jest…. If I remember correctly (and I could doubt that) it was Chelsea who ate that humble pie earlier in the season, not Mark… It just made him more certain and determined and angry… I do think he’s set it course, and at this point of the season, there isn’t going back from the place he’s gone, and that is really sad… He CAN be a good teacher. He CAN be a good choreographer. He CAN put his partner first in his choreography. He CAN be a good person who makes good choices in his words and actions and… Everything. I KNOW HE CAN because he showed us he could… A while ago. I used to like the Mark he used to seem to be, I really did… It makes it that much worse for me that he has seemingly fallen. And I hate that I don’t like him very much anymore. And I wonder where he Old Mark went?
I amglad she left, but I am also glad that she stayed as long as she did, because it gave me time to like her a little bit… Maybe her worst week, when Louis verbally berated her ended up a good thing, and she learned a bit about herself….. If that makes sense.
@Lori I don’t really get how Chelsea ate the humble pie, because it kinda seemed like she wasn’t really the one with the problem. Mark choreographed the routine, and he got called out on it. I suppose in one way they both may have ate some, but this week, I think Len was right in calling out Mark. What I’m saying is that that MIGHT, not certainly, encourage him to straighten up his act, Kendra did it after Louis called her out, even though that was probably too little too late. The same case could end up being true for Mark. He may keep at this course and Len calling him out could make him even more angry like you said, or it could do what I think, give him a bit more of a hint that he needs to knock it off, whether it’s too late or not.
I’m so very glad that Kendra is gone. She didn’t improve fast enough soon enough and she did not like being told what she was doing wasn’t good enough. Contestants on this show need to be able to take constructive criticism and she never could. The best dancer on this season is Hines Ward and I really hope he wins.
So apparently the show is just ignoring Mark’s inappropriate gesture and hoping we’re all going to forget it happened. I’m usually a little annoyed with the way the producers like to constantly replay and rehash things, and I’m so glad we didn’t have to watch a slow motion replay of Mark “rolling the dice,” but I don’t think ignoring it is the right thing. I’m kind of surprised they didn’t make Mark give one of those fake, “that’s not what I was doing but if I offended you I’m sorry” apologies. I’m sure he wouldn’t have meant it but at least he’d be somewhat acknowledging that he was acting like a child. At the very least I hope they took him to task behind the scenes and seriously consider giving him a break next season. I am glad they acknowledged some of his pouty-ness and really glad they gave Len the chance to call him out!
I’ve been gone all night and haven’t watched the show yet. So, I was wanting a spoiler. I’m glad Mark was in the bottom two. I really hope this was an eye opener for him, but, I doubt it.
Not surprised that Kendra went home. But I did like her dress she wore this week. I think this just gives more fans of Mark to vote more for them to make it to the finals.Plus, Abc seems to be keeping Mark beacuse they can showcase his fauxmance with Pia.UGH! Bet next week him and Chelsea will play it safe and get 10’s and get great rave reviews from the judges.Gotta say really not feeling Mark Ballas this season he does need a break. Hope next season he get’s one. Chelsea is nice girl but not feeling her either she says one thing in in front of judges and during the show but then she says others things when she is with Mark that make her just look as bad as him.She seems fake. So I’m hoping either Raplh,Romeo,Hines, or Kristie can win it. I’m kinda over this season now. Hope next season they bring back ringers like Nicole,Sabrina,Mel B,Mario L,Drew L,and so on because I miss some great dances that this season has lacked so much of.
Cindy, I agree that I actually hope they bring the ringers back next season or ya know one or two or a part of me does actually and a part of me doesn’t. I miss the stellar dances that they can bring but its kinda boring if you always know whose going to win. Bottom line is, if every season is the same it would get old.
Well Mark apologized to Len and I hope he can keep his emotions in check for the rest of the season. I’m glad Romeo didn’t go home, this week was a step backwards for him but he’s been improving so much over the course of the season. Salsa fans may be in luck.
Who was the singer that sang with the Ballernia?
oooooh yay I loved when they had the salsa!!!!!
I’m glad Kendra is gone because she’s the only one of the remaining six that I wouldn’t want in the finals – heck, I would have liked to have seen any of this season there but her or Wendy Williams. As it is, I think the right five remain, but I really hope Kirstie performs well next week. She was just a mess on Monday.
Best part of the results show was seeing that Lacey fixed her hair – kinda. She also tweeted this pic (BEWARE: DUCK LIPS) http://twitpic.com/4sy2rn
What are the dances for next week. I figure they will do at least two dances a piece, right?
@Margaret–I believe one dance is the instant dance along with their assigned dance.
@Cindy–I cant see Kirstie winning this thing, at least I hope not, hey I love her but her act is getting old and she is the worst dancer left. Does anyone really believe that the judges would allow her to win based only on popularity? Quite the joke I would say. Although, she has never been called out on her hand movements and generously scored so you never know. I would not be happy if the ‘act’ took one of my favorites like Ralph or Hines out.
@Will–I dont think there is any hope for Mark at this point, too much damage has been done for this season.
Actually I was starting to like Kendra a bit, but Im glad Romeo stayed. I like Kirstie but her time is about up. Hoping to see Mark and Kirstie in the bottom next week and either one can leave.
I’m a little sad about Kendra because I think people are finally seeing why she can be likable. I thought Mark needed to be sent home. But I like Chelsea, so no problem, I guess.
With that said, can’t wait to see Romeo and Kirstie bounce back next week. I’m certain that we’ll see it. I really think that Chelsea and Ralph will be the next two to leave….
Or maybe that’s wishful thinking? π haha
Mark really made a fool out of himself this week! Its bad enough that I think he is trying to upstage Derek (God, I miss this guy!), but the hand gesture alone is enough to hang him (very stupid thing to do).
I also agree that at this time Kirstie doesn’t really have a chance to win, Maks actually looked annoyed at her at one point this week. I think Hines or Ralph can actually win this week.
One last point, the 1 hour recap is getting to be a little too much. They really don’t have to worry about ratings at all, so this extra hour is a killer!
I meant to say win this not week, sorry.
As much as I’ve wanted Kendra to go home for the last 3 weeks or so, I do have to give her & Louis props for a very classy exit. And at least they left on a high note, with Kendra improving somewhat.
RE: the Mark gesture – Shirley is claiming it was the “rolling the dice” motion. Hmmm. I can’t decide if she’s just clarifying or is doing damage control – can’t say I blame her for trying to do either one. Regardless, I do think he dodged a bullet this week – them being in jeopardy was a warning to shape up or get out. Hopefully he’s spot-on with his choreo next week and sweet-as-pie with everyone.
I’m looking at some tweets about the dances next week – WTF???? It truly is a random mashup of stuff – a combo of unlearned dances with a few salsas and Argentine tangos peppered in – although it doesn’t look like everyone is doing a salsa or A. tango. And I guess one of the dances (I’m guessing the Latin one) is going to be an “instant dance”. Man, I hate the randomness of this season.
I agree with everyone on Marks behavior. I felt bad for Chelsea she was left to explain away the bad behavior of both Mark and his professional Mom. What she did to Chelsea had nothing to do with the passion of the dance, she was not at all like that in working with another star. One had to wonder is she jealous of anyone dancing with her son, or does she dislike any female whom dances. The Mother Son Team seemed to think this was Mother and I show instead of Dancing with the Stars . I am disgusted with them both.
I agree that Mark is on a mission to keep Derek out, the show reflects Dereks absence. The professionals this season are not dancing the team dances they normally do when Derek is around.
The hand gesture that Mark gave to me was enough for the show to say goodbye to Mark. forever. This is after all a family show, someone needs to remind him this show is about the stars learning. I think his out dancing his partner in an attempt to take over the show and replace Dereks very enjoyable routines is plain silly. He is not Derek he is Mark and should have his own style. I think he would be wise to understand he was not eliminated last night based on people feeling bad for Chelsea. But you know he thinks so highly of himself trying to out dance her he probably does not even see a pity save.
I sincerely hope ABC boots him off the show when this season ends.
Perhaps Mark feels this attention draws some added interest in his musical career. I think he behaved himself more when Derek was there. They were in a band together and that ended. Now Derek is getting a chance at movie stardom. Might all of this be jealousy motivated? Also his partner last season was far different for a few reasons.
Just some thoughts…..
So I missed the part where Mark went ballsy on Len. Can somebody fill me in on what he said, exactly?
Yeah right Shirley—Mark was taking a gamble on that dance and rolling the dice. Shirley is the only one gambling that the viewers will buy her lame story. Im not buying it and neither is anyone else.
At this point I feel that Ralph and Hines will be in the finals. The only question is: Which celeb will fill the third spot???
Noel, I think what the producers DID do, was show a whole lot more of Mark than he probably would have liked. Kinda like a video retribution sort of thing. I can’t imagine he was thrilled that they showed video of him confronting Len the way he did, and I’m sure he probably didn’t enjoy Tom giving Len the chance to comment further on it. No need to show the hand gesture and draw more attention to it.
Inside scoop from Tom apparently Corky and Mark have a special hand gesture thats just for them. Ewww thats all I gotta say, actually they are referring to the roll of the dice. Im sure they do! LOL
I don’t know if this is about Derek consciously, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some subconcious envy going on, in addition to the pressure we discussed yesterday. I also wonder if Derek was more prone to pointing out to Mark when he was doing stupid stuff, like brothers tend to do. He certainly picked on him for his crazy costume choices pretty vocally. π
I was actually warming up to Kendra and really starting to get bored with Romeo. Would not have been sad to see Romeo go this week, but I’m not holding a grudge – if he can pull out some actual dancing next week he’ll redeem himself.
I’m very fond of Kirstie, but the more dances they pile on per week the harder it’s gonna get for her, so I don’t see her stamina lasting much longer.
My prediction for the final: Ralph, Hines, Chelsea.
I can see that Mark wants to be a “dreek-like” figure that almost everybody loves and can pull off some crazy routines BUT I think his pride has something to do with the way he is this season too. After Bristol, I think he wants to prove that he is more than last season’s sacrifical lamb. He should take a page from Tony’s book and notgive a damn and just be himself. Tony has had so many bad dnacers but still came back season after season wit hte same loveble yet tough personality (and after this season they better give him somebody good cuz Wendy was beyone help…….made me wish Kate was dancing again.). I don’t think mark should leave the show though. He should just be himself and not be so driven to prove himself. He has two trophies already. we KNOW what he iscapable of doing now he just has to do it.
On a sidenote, while I was never a huge fan of Lousi and Kendra, they had a very classy exit and showed that kendra was a lot more than the dumb blonde who says whatever is one her mind (kendra needs to learn about tmi). I think that if Kirstie doesn’t do good next week, she could be eliminated before the finale. As much as it pains me to say it, I can predict Hines and Ralph in the final three easily but I think its a battle between Chelsea and Kirstie for the third spot.
Lastly, does anyone know when the contestants design the cosutmes for the pros and themselves? As soon as I heard instant dance, I thought next week. Can’t wait to see what Kirstie is going to do.
I think Mark should seriously consider taking time off from the show and focusing 100% on his music career. He’s been off-balance mentally and professionally for the last two seasons and I think it’s because he’s not doing what he really wants to be doing, while seeing Derek and Julianne move on to other opportunities. He shouldn’t go off and treat the judges disrespectfully in front of 20 million people and harm his partner’s chances. It made me think of Maks and Brandy. Mark just seems really burnt out.
Wow, so much Mark hate going on – I’m hardly his biggest fan but I don’t think you all are being fair. What DOES bug me most is him dancing around Chelsea because she’s definitely a good enough dancer that he shouldn’t be doing that. I didn’t see his “rude gesture”, but his talking back to Len came across as far more frustrated than rude to me. He threw in a long list of Paso moves to please Len but Len still wasn’t happy. Mark cares very much about this competition, believes greatly in Chelsea, and I guess you can accuse him of trying too hard and not censoring himself enough in the moment.
But the judges are very inconsistent in their judging lately and I really wish they would judge Chelsea’s technique, not whether or not they like Mark’s choreograpy (with the caveat that the choreography needs to include enough classic dance steps to judge – but somehow they overlooked Kendra’s marching dance and didn’t knock Louis for that choreo). I wish they would do the same for all the couples.
AMEN, Buttercup!! π
Eh, I don’t feel like re-writing what I just wrote on the Mark and Chelsea post so go look there. π You guys are missing the point completely, IMO. None of this is new, Mark just doesn’t LEARN. And the shoe was on the other foot for him last season, getting scores he didn’t deserve. The judges are being wacky “lately” – if lately is the last three or four seasons, then yes, I agree.
I’ve been watching this show since season 3, and the only thing I can say about the judges, is that they are consistently inconsistent. And it took me to last spring to realize they score contestants based on what they think the celebrity SHOULD be able to do, not how well they do the dance… Grading each against themselves, if you will. That’s why it seems that this season, the judges let Kendra get away with stuff while Chelsea seems like has a tougher run with the judges…. Because they knew Kendra was nowhere near the same as Chelsea, skillwise. Is it fair? Probably not, but at least the judges are consistent in something other than being inconsistent. Maybe at the end of the day, they may actually know what they are doing?
As for Mark, it just feels like he has become some complete other person than who he used to be, and it bugs me, what I’m seeing now. He has proven that you can have some great, awesome choreography that highlights your dancer, and pleasing to the viewers and the judges, and still have it inside the box. He has proven that you can be polite and respectful to the celebrity, the judges, etc, and be able to accept criticism, and grow from it. THAT MARK seems to have disappeared, and I just cannot accept that this dark, brooding, constantly angry young man is the same person from season 5, 6, 7 or 8.
But, Lori he’s an ARTIST. And he lives for MUSIC. *eyeroll*. God I hate when people talk about that shit constantly. That, more than anything, is what Mark does that annoys me.
As far as the hand gesture, eh. I don’t think it’s really that big of a deal. He didn’t expect to be on camera, he was not in the view of most of the audience – it happens. It wasn’t the best of judgment, but I don’t think he should be banned or punished for it (like some people believe). I do think he needs to take a break from the show. I guess Jonathan will have to come back to take his place *nods*.
