Former DWTS Pro Julianne Hough is a Busy Bee!
I’m trying to figure how to write this, and where do I start? Since she left DWTS, shes been extremely busy, and lately, it seems like things are going fast and furious for her.
Currently, she’s busy shooting a movie, like her brother Derek. She’s in Miami, and will be working until sometime in August, and Derek’s in Toronto, and could be wrapping up shortly! When Julianne finishes filming this movie, she’ll be gearing up to promote her second movie, Footloose, which will be in theatres on October 14th. And the first trailer is out…. NOW!!!! Julianne plays Ariel Moore, the preacher’s daughter. And other than that, I have no words…. Just watch the trailer…

Monday, though, she was in New York City for a very worthy cause, to raise awareness of therapy dogs, and helped to kick off the first ever American Hero Dog awards voting. She was fortunate enough to perform an acoustic concert for some Military Vets, and meet with the wonderful therapy dogs that were there. And there was quite a bit of press at the event, and they didn’t just talk with her about the reason she came. She answered questions about co-star Tom Cruise, her relationship and why it works so well, her own dogs, Lexi and Harley, what she took from the Harry Potter set that she wasn’t supposed to take with her…. More importantly, she was asked if she was ever going to return to Dancing with the Stars, and she said…
Can fans expect her to return to the ballroom on Dancing With the Stars?
“You never know — maybe. I would love to go back to one of the results shows where they bring back people to dance and maybe get to dance with my brother again. I’m dancing here and there. It’s hard because my path has changed a little bit, but I dance a little bit in Rock of Ages, so I’m still rockin’ and rollin’.”

The new FOOTLOOSE trailer is just HOT to say the least!!! No doubt Derek is going to light everyone up in Cobu 3D as well. The talent these two have is oozing out their ears continually. Go Derek and Jullianne!!!! LOVEEE!!!
A remake of a movie like Footloose is kinda dangerous. I’ll be interested to see what happens with it. For that matter, Rock of Ages, as a movie version of a Broadway show has an element of risk to it as well. But, that said, I think both Derek and Julianne only benefit from doing their respective projects. The success or failure of any of the movies won’t really be ON them at this point, since they aren’t really carrying the project. As long as both perform well, they should be set to continue on that path – if they want to. Who knows with Derek? That guy is about as tight lipped as they come. Very annoying. Good thing he’s cute.
The problem I have with remakes of classics (Fame anyone?) is that there is such a high element of risk and expectations that really the only way to go is down.
If Footloose could buck that trend, well that’s great… but based onthat trailer, I’m cautiously optimistic.
Heidi, Love that you added the pic of Derek. I agree with you that Footloose is kind of dangerous for a remake. It will be interesting to see what happens opening weekend. The trailer looks great though. Rock of Ages I can see as a risk as well, but since Adam Shankman is in charge of the project and he had success with the Broadway version of Hairspray a few years back, it could actually turn out okay. Regardless of the success or failures of any the movies the Houghs are in, they are so talented and are being noticed in Hollywood and will be able to continue the path that is being offered to them. I wish Derek would let us know what he will be up to after Cobu wraps. Guess will soon find out.
Finally Hollywood realizes that these are the most talented dancers (brother and sister) anywhere.
Hopefully after Derek rests, he’ll be gearing up for DWTS! Just keep us posted.
Good comments. It is said, “Beware the long trailer.” But it looks like Julianne won’t hurt herself with this project. The brief acting glimpses looked good. It’s just hard projecting the premise several decades forward. Best of luck.
I didn’t like the footloose trailor unfortunately. The lead guy is no kevin bacon but Julianne looks good.
I liked the footloose trailer and I must say, Miss Julianne Hough looks stunning with darker hair. I am also a fan of Dennis Quaid so this could be a movie that I would pay real money to see!!
As far as Julianne and Ryan, everyone deserves happiness and love and I wish them the best. But seriously, he does look his age and he does look quite a bit older than her. But as long as they are happy together thats all that matters.
I thought the trailer looked really good, and I love the original too. I think Julianne and Ryan are adorable together. Things seem to be working out well between them and I’ve never seen either of them happier.
The problem, in my opinion of course, with Rock of Ages is Tom Cruise. That guy just bugs me. And of course I am a bit mystified at the selection of Mia Michaels as choreographer for a movie set in the 80’s. Of course, I’m not a fan of hers so that could be the problem. Derek is working with NappyTabs, in addition to some great tap choregraphers – I’m much happier about that. 🙂
Julianne and Ryan Seacrest are just creepy to me, but I guess it’s because he supposedly had a “crush” on her when she started DWTS as an 18 year old engaged Mormon. The comments under articles about them are hilarious – the common theme being Julianne’s playing his beard. She does seem to gravitate toward older men for some reason, but that’s her choice.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Derek and Julianne dance together again. They are magical partnering one another.

I can’t wait for Rock of Ages though. I am a big Tom Cruise fan since i was a kid and the fact that Julianne, Russel Brand, and Catherine Zeta Jones arei n it is AWESOME (I purposely excluded Alec Baldwin…..not a fan but I ahve to say I loved him in the cooler).
Think the trailer looks good – though it would be difficult to better the original! Think that Julianne lights up the screen so it will definitely do her career good – whatever the overall fate of the movie. Agree that the premise now seems a little far fetched – think most parents would be thrilled if their children rebelled by dancing!!
So hope that Julianne is invited back to do a pro dance – with Derek for preference. Would love for TPTB to reintroduce proper pro dances next season – think it would be a super idea to invite back old pros or even old successful couples. But then the pro dancers are the real stars of the show to me!!

Tbh, I wouldn’t even be interested in Footloose if Julianne wasn’t in it. It was trending on twitter today, so I clicked to see what people were saying. Sorry to say, more people were not interested in seeing it than were. That’s the risk of remaking iconic and beloved movies. However, Julianne’s acting looks to be much better than it was in Burlesque. I’m more excited for Julianne, than for the actual movie. However, I don’t think I have to see it in theaters. I’m not much of a person that goes to the movies a lot anyways.
On the other hand, I am super excited for Derek’s movie Cobu 3D. I just dislike how it’s labeled as a “dance movie” and “Romeo & Juliet-like love story”, when it’s really going to be so much more. Following the cast and crew on twitter, I’ve learned there are so many interesting plots to the movie that is going to make it different from a typical dance movie. Plus, we are going to get to see Derek tap dance and do some hip-hop! Really looking forward to seeing him do these dance styles.
The Footloose trending thing – I noticed that the trending was “promoted” – I’m not sure what that means, but it sounds like someone paid for it to trend. Anyone know?
I forgot to add: Elmari, the most exciting thing I’ve heard from the cast so far was how they were getting ready to beat Derek up in an alley. Yes, I am that twisted. 🙂 What was even funnier were the clueless people following him who weren’t aware he was shooting a movie. He tweets “Heading into an alley, about to get my butt kicked” and way too many girls responded with “don’t go into the alley!!” Hilarious.
LOL at those girls comments!!! ^^ I know there is going to be more action than some would expect for the movie according to set extras/background. It’s so exciting!
Re: Footloose, the new “Ren” just doesn’t pop for me like Kevin Bacon did. I do love Dennis Quaid though. Guess I’ll wait and see what kind of buzz the film gets before I decide if I’m gonna go see it or not.
Not sure why they needed to try to remake an iconic movie. Why not just make a new movie with dancing in it and not try to jumb on the Footloose bandwagon.
Julianne’s movie looks good. Who are we to question who she dates. I don’t think Derek’s movie will even be released in the states, probably straight to DVD. Probably a release in Asia only. The female lead is only famous in Asia. Why all the Derek Drone’s commenting about Derek on here??? He’s mention once in the article and the Drone’s go crazy.

@Tina – Now now now Tina no calling anyone else here a “Ho” unless you meant it for me since I am technically the only legitimate and legal “Ho” from this set of bloggers. So as you can imagine I do not appreciate you calling someone by my name unless of course you are calling specifically for me.
Now that we got that out of the way, and since it is plainly clear that the point has been missed here is a quick reminder. We do not tolerate name calling of any kind. Regardless if it is in general or towards a specific party. Now yes someone shot back at you, however you cannot expect some one to name call another person and not get one in response. Now one could have simply taken the high road and apologized for the initial name calling and all would be well… And there are those that just simply enjoy digging themselves a hole and will continue to do so til they reach China.
If that is your thing, then perhaps it would do a world of good to live in a communist country in order to truly under and appreciate what is going on here.
Since it is the low road that is being taken here, by all means continue onward and don’t forget to write once you’ve reached your destination.
Well said Marianya!! On the internet, a “troll” is a word used to describe someone who is out to cause trouble, calls names, etc which describes Tina in this post. Sad that she couldn’t own up to what she did and just apologize as that would have been the class act thing to do.
I agree too how this in no way is communistic. Just because this site is located in democratic country gives a person a right to call names and be rude. Yes, disagree all you like, but, be respectful about it.
Actually, she can’t carry on. After deleting 6 or 7 expletive filled posts telling me what to do with myself, I just banned her. I gave her plenty of opportunity – she wasn’t interested.
