As promised, here is another Dancing With The Stars Questionnaire. Like the first questionnaire, answer these questions to best of your ability. Some of these question’s don’t have to necessarily be answered with your favorite dancer, but, with the best dancer to match each catagory. In fact, your least favorite dancer might fit into one of these catagories more than anyone else? Also, try to answer with just one dancer. But, you can list a few “honorable mentions” too. Ok, I’ll start us off:
1. Most “compassionate” pro dancer: Derek! Honorable mentions: Anna and Maks!!

2. Most “creative” pro dancer: Derek! Honorable mentions: Mark and Lacey (even though they aren’t my favorite dancers and I’m not always approving of their creativity.)

Dancing With The Stars Mark Ballas And Cheryl Burke’s ‘Pool After Dark’ Party and More

This past weekend, Mark Ballas and Cherl Burke travelled to Atlantic City, New Jersy to host a Pool Party at the Pool After Dark nightclub inside the Harrah’s Resort. Reality TV caught up with Mark and interviewed on him his plans for the summer (full out promotion for the album), Dancing With The Stars, and his relationship with Pia Toscano. Here’s a take from the link. I like what he says about ballroom dancing and how it’s been revitalized. I hope that is always the case! Check out what he says on Pia too. I think these two are definitely an item unless the two are having a lot of fun feeding the press to keep their careers in the news which wouldn’t surprise me either.

You appear very close with your Dancing with the Stars fellow cast mates, do you share a special bond with them?
Yeah, a lot of us are really close.

How has Dancing with the Stars impacted the world of ballroom dancing?
I think it’s been revitalized. It was really big back in the day, you know Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly kind of thing and then it kind of died out for a minute; I think people kind of forgot about it and I think it’s been a pleasure and an honor for all of us, myself and Cheryl and all the other pros to be a part of a show that’s kind of brought it back to life because it’s fun, it’s a great workout, it’s a great way to get in shape and it’s also good for the soul and it keeps you revitalized so it’s been an honor to be a part of this show.

Are you and Pia Toscano officially an item?
We’re good. We’re good, I’ll give you that! (Laughs)

By the way, we’d like to extend our deepest condolences to the Ballas Family, loved ones, and friends. This past weekend, Mark lost his grandfather George Charles Ballas Sr. Bewitching Ballas has written a great write-up where you can read all about him here. Mark posted this picture of himself, his Dad, and his Grandfather at twitter. Isn’t their resemblance uncanny?

Cheryl was interviewed as well by Reality TV . She talks on Dancing With Stars and the closeness she shares with her co-stars and what she does on haitus. Be sure to read more at the link because she talks of her shoe line….and a new clothing line as well.

You appear very close with your Dancing with the Stars fellow cast mates, do you share a special bond with them?
Absolutely! We’ve gone through this whole journey together; it’s been ups and downs but you know what, we’ve become so close and we’re here and we’ve known eachother since before the show started so we’re really in it together.

When you’re on hiatus from Dancing with the Stars are you able to relax?
It’s the opposite. We work year round because we all have other things that we’re doing individually and that’s the only time to do it, is on our hiatus and we do two seasons a year so it gets pretty crazy traveling a lot but we got to strike while the iron’s hot right now so we’re trying to do that.

Kym Johnson and Lacey Schwimmer Campaign For The Next Cast Of Dancing With The Stars

This past week, Lacey Schwimmer attended the Critics Choice Awards as we reported to you earlier. But, Kim Johnson was there too along with Dmitry Chaplin. While attending the event, they were asked on who they’d like to see dance on the show. Kym picked actor George Clooney and Lacey picked Jon Heder from “Napolean Dynamite”. I’ve never heard of Jon, but, wow to the thought of George Clooney dancing on the show. He’d be sexy, classy, and such a charmer, eh? He’d couple so well with Kym too. I can see it now…and yes, I am dreamin’! Please make it happen Dancing With The Stars producers. 😀 Below is a take from The Insider. You can view them in a video at the link too. “Dancing with the Stars” champ Kym Johnson represented for the hit reality show at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards in Beverly Hills, dishing on her picks for next season’s cast.

“I want George Clooney,” Kym blurted. Lacey Schwimmer chimed in, saying, “I’ll take a funny guy. I want, like, Jon Heder from ‘Napolean Dynamite.'”

Speaking of Kym and Lacey, below is a picture Lacey tweeted from June 18th as backup singers to young dancer in training, GiGi. I searched for more info for what brought the three together and left empty handed. If someone knows more, please let us know.

Dance of the Day…. Let’s compare Brooke and Shawn!

I want to apologize, I’m getting this off and posted much later than I meant to. I am finding it a LOT more difficult to sit down and do stuff I want to do, now that the kids are on Summer Vacation. I’ve got a bunch, at several different levels, and this past week was their last week, and unfortunately, my most hectic. I was hoping them NOT having school would mean I could have more time for here, but it’s starting to look less likely.

And when I am looking for videos for this feature, I search for what I’m looking for, and in the list, I do look for one specific user name, and will choose that one first. If I don’t see that one specific person, I will choose the one with the most time listed.

We’re already at the halfway point of our journey, to compare our 12 DWTS Champions on their very first week of competition, in their respective Seasons. We’ve seen Kelly and Alec VS Drew and Cheryl, and Emmitt and Cheryl VS Apolo and Julianne, and Helio and Julianne VS Kristi and Mark. Now, we’re up to Season 7 VS Season 8!

Our Season 7 Champ is Brooke Burke, with her professional partner, Derek Hough. Brooke eventually returned to the ballroom, in Season 10, replacing DWTS hostess and foil for Tom, Samantha Harris.

Our Season 8 Champ is Shawn Johnson, with her professional partner, Mark Ballas. Shawn was our youngest competitor ever on the show, being all of 17 years old when she competed. And, she was fresh from the Olympics! She and Gilles Marini battled it out as the Final 2, and at the winners announcement, he said that they had the smallest difference ever, between the top 2.

DWTS Search Engine Round-Up – Week of June 24, 2011

Sorry this is kinda late, kids – I’ve been caught up with end-of-quarter stuff at work, and have been spending more time at the office than I have at home, I’m afraid. But things ought to let up a bit after next week, so look forward to some more fun posts headed your way 😉 I gotta admit – it’s getting harder and harder to write this each week, because we’re currently in the summer doldrums between seasons where we’re not getting as many hits as we do when the show is in-season…and fewer hits usually means fewer unique terms getting searched. So just a warning – this may become a bi-weekly feature in the future, if I can’t get enough good material for it.

Season 12 ratings

A quick search of “ratings” in the search bar will pull up all of the ratings posts, but here’s a link to the last one of the season. Vogue posts them each week during the season, just so we can see how DWTS is stacking up against all the other shows. They’re almost always in the top 5, but it is kinda cool to see how certain events on the show (say, “American Night” or the winner-take-all cha-cha) can affect the ratings for a particular week.

Erm, I’d say his website would probably be the best source for that. I was stumped as to how some of you ended up here looking for pictures of Kyle, until I did a search and realized Shawn Johnson rode along with Kyle for a few laps at the Coca-Cola 600 back in May of ’09 after winning DWTS. I wouldn’t mind Kyle doing the show – we haven’t had anyone from the racing world since Helio, and Kyle would be the first Nascar representative to do the show. What do you guys think?

What were Maks & Cheryl paid for dancing at the Southwest Airlines 40th Anniversary party?

A bajillion, fafillion, sho0-bad-ooh-wopillion dollars. *pinky to corner of mouth like Dr. Evil* Honestly, I don’t know…none of us know, with the exception of Maks, Cheryl, the folks at Southwest accounts payable, and the IRS. I’m sure it was a pretty penny…most well-known ballroom pros can command several grand for private exhibition performance. DWTS pros can probably command even more. I’m guessing at least $15K each.

So You Think You Can Dance songs list 2011

Head on over to Pure SYTYCD for that…if you are still watching the show after the sham that was Iveta’s elimination the other night. It’s safe to say I’m pretty salty about it – it’s only week 2 and already the sole ballroom dancer this season is gone, along with the only true tapper. I know a lot of us were talking about it on Twitter, and the topic came up of Iveta doing DWTS. While I love Iveta, I don’t wanna see it happen – she’s just so damn good, and I almost feel like doing the show would be a waste of her talent. Then again, maybe her talent would be better appreciated on DWTS than it was on SYTYCD. I’m beginning to think they’re intimidated by ballroom dancers over there…

Hehe. *shaking head* Sorry, couldn’t resist that one. I’m guessing this musing sprung from the interview Mark did where he said he wouldn’t mind having a same-sex partnership, and the subsequent discussion we had about the implications of said statement. If he is indeed gay, he’s doing a pretty damn good job of concealing it, considering the bevy of babes he’s been linked to since starting DWTS. There was Sabrina…and Joanna Pacitti…and I think one of the Pussycat Dolls…and then there was Jeanine…and the Bristol rumors…and the Chelsie rumors…and then the other other Chelsea…which brings us to Pia, the current girl du jour. If he is gay, he’s got a whole wardrobe of beards to chose from 🙂 Honestly, if nothing else, I think Mark’s stance on same-sex ballroom says less about his sexual orientation and more about his need for attention. You know that box on facebook that says “interested in” and you choose “men”, “women” or “both”? They’d need to add one for Mark – “attention of any sort”. 😀

I’d personally rather use it as a doorstop than summer reading material, but there’s a few excerpts from it in a post Vogue did earlier this week. Overall, it just sounds like a bitter, sensationalized attempt to prolong her 15 minutes of fame a bit more – she takes some cheap shots at her fellow contestants and her baby daddy, and seems hellbent on reminding us about the “hefty check” she got for doing DWTS. I don’t think I’ve ever heard another celeb talk about the money they made on DWTS as much as Bristol. And Bristol, honey, no matter how easy or irresistable it might be – don’t Hassle the Hoff. You may just get yourself labeled persona non grata in Germany…and what would that do for your political aspirations? Tsk, tsk.

DWTS Season 13 Campaign – Ellen Kay and…Derek Hough?

One of PureDerekHough’s readers, Jane, sent me the following transcription of a conversation between Deena Katz (DWTS Casting), Ryan Seacrest, and Ryan’s cohort, Ellen Kay from Ryan’s show today:

You probably already have this info, but if not, Ryan Seacrest and Ellen Kay spoke to Deena Katz this morning trying to pitch Ellen for the show. She asked who Ellen wanted to dance with and she started to say Louis but then said Derek Hough. Ellen asked if Derek would be back on the show and Deena said yes. Also said that Regis called dibs on Derek. Ellen again said she wanted to dance with Derek or Louis. Deena will be sending out invite letters after July 4th.

As we previously reported, Ellen (with Ryan’s help) has been waging a campaign to get herself on Dancing with the Stars for the upcoming season. It appears the campaign continues and she’s lobbying for Derek – or Louis, I guess if Derek’s not back.

But there are other interesting tidbits in this conversation, if everything Deena is saying is true. First, “Derek will be back” – that sounds like a pretty solid statement. I take it to mean they are definitely planning on him being on the show. However, unless Derek is an indentured servant and I don’t know about it, I’m not calling it a sure thing just yet. I think we will see him this season, but it’s always possible something else (more fun and/or more lucrative) could come up and he decides to sit it out.

Interesting tid bit number 2 – they are sending out “invite letters” after July 4th. So, all you bozos claiming to know the cast? I don’t think so. 🙂 That said – we’ve not seen too many claims by people that they are on the cast yet, and only one person claiming to know some of the cast. I do find this information more helpful though – it means I don’t have to spend a lot of time every day scouring for tidbits…until after the 4th of July. 🙂

ETA – LISTEN FOR YOURSELVES. I haven’t listened to it yet, but Lori tells me that when Ellen says something about Derek, Ryan says “he’s not there”. Deena then insists that Derek will be back, to which Ryan replies, “What do I know about the Houghs?” Which can be taken sarcastically…you judge for yourselves and tell me what you think. 🙂

Courtney Cox, Elle Macpherson, Tina Fey, Cheryl Cole, Vince Vaughn, Rob Lowe To Dance On Dancing With The Stars?

A site called The Telewatcher is reporting on a slew of new celebrity contenders for the next Seasons of Dancing With The Stars. They are making it almost sound like this is factual, but, I have a feeling, this is just a lot of dreaming and guessing (Heidi, do you agree?) (Heidi: I hear hallucinogens are good. But seriously – someone is just trying to get hits.). I’d say take this news with a grain of salt not that I wouldn’t love these people to dance on the show (well, with an exception to Cheryl Cole). What do you think?

Courtney Cox is hot on Cougar town. Now she will be dancing with the stars as well! I love friends!!!

Elle Macpherson is best known as a super model but is also an actress and entrepreneur. Elle also hosts the Britain version of Next Top Model. Guess she can now add something else to her huge list of accomplishments.

Tina Fey from SNL and 30 rock will be gracing us with her skills on the dance floor this 2012. Hope she is as good at dancing as she is at making me laugh.

Cheryl Ann Cole is an English songwriter, dancer, model, singer, etc… She is the ‘bees knees’ from what I gather.

Vince Vaughn is so cute and is a great actor. I am excited to see him move more than his lips.

Rob Lowe can look confident smiling. But can he look confident smiling and dance at the same time? We will see. I have problems chewing gum and walking. I can’t imagine the pressure on these celebs.

Dancing With The Stars Lacey Schwimmer’s “Love Soundz” Is Officially Released To iTunes

Above is a picture of Lacey Schwimmer attending the Critics Choice Awards this past week. So much is going in the world of Lacey currently. As Lori reported to you earlier, Lacey has a new single out called “Love Soundz” which I think is amazing. Good Morning America has put the song on it’s Pop News Heat Index for this week. This past Tuesday, “Love Soundz” was officially released to itunes. It’s going to be so interesting to see how well this single does on the Billboard charts during these next few weeks. I really wish Lacey the best with this song because it’s very much “out there” with the best of them with artists like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. Ryan Seacrest Calls Tom Bergeron To Get Ellen K. On Dancing With The Stars

Tom Bergeron was called by Ryan Seacrest to do his radio show today. Ryan was on a mission to get side-kick and KIIS FM’s own Ellen K. to be a dance contender on Dancing With The Stars. Today it was announced Ellen K. is to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. She wants to use the star to get on the show. If she wins, she plans to give the money to charity. Details below and at the link on this fun conversation. It will be interesting to see if producers will take Ellen K.’s offer? Thanks to Lori for this news!!

“I want to use this star on the walk of fame to get on “Dancing with the Stars” and then I will give any money that I get from the show to charity and it would go to a children’s charity to make the children the stars. See it’s a star theme,” Ellen explained to Tom.

Tom Replied, “That is the most underhanded approach I have ever heard. Here you are, you try to pull on our heartstrings, using children. Have you decided which children’s charity or were you just going to throw in the blanket sick children angle?”

“Just so that you can get yourself spray tanned and parade around skimpy outfits, which come to think of it, now I’m liking this.”

“Since she is serious, who is the best person to put her in the que for an audition?” Ryan asked.

“We should talk. How much ready cash do you have? I mean liquid.” Tom said jokingly. “I was always told in negotiation never throw out a figure,” Ellen replied.

“No, because then you are negotiating against yourself, but here you have all the poor children out of the picture. It’s just you and me blatantly into bribery and corrosion,” Tom said.

“Is the person we need to talk to Deena Katz?” Ryan inquired. “That’s exactly right, Deena is the person for whom all must grovel and beg,” Tom replied.
