R.I. P. Whitney Houston One of Dancing With The Stars Greatest Guests To Entertain
I am so shocked on this news as I’m sure all of you are. I don’t know what to say? 🙁 🙁 According to MSNBC, Whitney Houston, one of the greatest singers of our time (and all time) has passed away…cause and location of death at this time is unknown.
At her peak, Houston the golden girl of the music industry. From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world’s best-selling artists. She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful, and peerless vocals that were rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen.
Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”
She had the he perfect voice, and the perfect image: a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal but was never overtly sexual, who maintained perfect poise.
She influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey, who when she first came out sounded so much like Houston that many thought it was Houston.
Below is of Whitney’s most fun performances on Dancing With The Stars and doesn’t this song just say it all for what the show is about?:
With all of our love, rest in peace Whitney! You’ll never be forgotten! Thank you for your music! xxx
Whitney was in a class of her own…incredible voice … she gave a personal meaning to the word Diva…she was THE MOST AWARDED FEMALE SINGER OF ALL TIME…for good reason…another great lost…hope she found that moment in time and she now she is free…RIP Whithey
I am very saddened and shocked and upset over this news. I was really pulling for her to make a comeback. Terrible. We will miss you, Whitney. RIP
Then in that one moment in time….
I will be, I will be free… RIP
Shame. When will “celebs” realize enough is enough? Michael Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith, etc. etc. Guess they think it’ll never happen to them 🙁 Prayers for her innocent daughter in all of it.
Awww… So sad to hear about Whitney’s passing, what an incredible voice she had. Was watching a viedo of R&B singers Brandy and Monica along Clive Davis, talking about the pre-grammy party in which they were to perform and what a special joy that Whitney was going to be in the audience and how they were inspired by this legend. RIP Whitney Houston.
Rest in peace, Whitney – you will be sorely missed, but I take comfort knowing that the troubles that plagued you in this life are gone & you are free. It’s hard to believe that the woman who took a rather hokey country song & turned it into one of the most heart-rending & beautifully sung ballads of our time is yet another victim of drugs. As someone who has a family history of addiction & substance abuse, when I see a celebrity in the throes of drug & alcohol addiction, I want to believe that they can beat it – and I was so happy to see Whitney looking healthy, vibrant, & happy on The Insider a few days ago. But alas, even those who overcome their demons still too often leave us far too early…I can only hope Whitney’s story is a cautionary tale for others battling substance abuse.
I hope so too Court. Beautiful words all for Whitney!!
Here is a timeline of her life from E News highlighting all of the significant events that happened to her. They called 2011 her “bounceback year”….which I didn’t realize she had just wrapped up shooting a movie (called “Sparkle”) in November. It’s due out in theatres in August. I bet it will be huge. She also checked herself into a rehab program for the the third time and had suffered a bought with exhaustion during 2011. Anyway, it’s all just so sad.

Sad to hear about Whitney. I feel especially bad for her daughter to lose a mother so young.
Well said, Courtney. Here is a tribute video I made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdI04OvIAwA May she rest in peace
What a sad, sad day… 🙁 Whitney had such an incredible voice. She brought joy and beauty to us all. May she rest in peace.
Days have passed and I’m still saddened by her passing. I remember wearing my hair like she did in the 80s-lol . Fun memories.
On stage she had such a regal presence. Just so elegant with the voice of an angel. I still have her earlier albums. God Bless her and her family. RIP Whitney!!! I will always love you!!!
