Maksim Chmerkovskiy Addresses Rumors On Whether He’s Dancing On DWTS14
ET has a new article up via ET Canada with Maks addressing the rumors on whether he’s dancing or not on Dancing With The Stars Season 14. He says he hasn’t been called to do the show yet, but, wouldn’t tell us if he does get one. He reveals a little on the cast too. More below and be sure to read the link for the full article.
Dancing with the Stars bad boy Maksim Chmerkovskiy revealed in a new interview that he hasn’t yet been asked to return for the next season of the hit ABC dancing competition.
Two-time runner-up Maks, one of the show’s most popular dance instructors, told ET Canada, “I still don’t know if I’m on the show.”
He teased that “everyone’s going to be really short” this season, adding that based on the short stature of the contestants and his reported 6’2″ height, “It’s not going to be a good pairing.”
ET Canada asked when he expects to get a call back to be on the show, and Maks replied, “I would still not tell you if I did but I’m not lying to you. I didn’t get the call yet.”
Adding and Special note: According to PureDWTS reader Evaine, the ET Canada interview was done back on Friday, February 17th when Maks and Val were in Montreal for a dance, meet, and greet event.

I hate that they’re calling it as he’s “leaving” DWTS. He’s not leaving. He’s been on the record saying that he still wants to do the show. It’s just that he’s not (possibly) doing it this season. Are they also saying Lacey’s leaving the show? No, she’s simply sitting out this season, just as Chelsie sat out last season. Just because Maks may or may not be on there for Season 14 doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s never doing it again. So we all just need to take a calming breath. It will all be okay. 🙂

It might be just me but it seams like there trying to hard to make you think he’s not coming back.

I think you’re all seriously grasping at straws. I don’t see any plot or conspiracy here. And who is this “they” you guys keep referring to? There is no “they” – the producers have remained silent and, as in every season, various news outlets start speculating just as we do. It means ratings, or hits, to talk about DWTS. GMA in particular wants to keep the conversation going (and start new ones involving Mark and Derek) because they WANT you to watch GMA on tuesday. Were they told by DWTS producers to start rumors or talk about Mark and Derek?? I kinda doubt they take that kind of direction.
Did someone whisper in my ear “hey, start a discussion about Maks and ponder his participation in the show”? Of course not – it’s natural to wonder what is going on. EVERYONE is doing just that. I think the simplest explanation is the most likely – either the producers haven’t signed that one person yet, or they have and everyone is just speculating. We’ve not heard which pros are dancing from an OFFICIAL source, remember? ALL are still technically rumors.
Heidi, right now, I am holding on tight to the thought that there is nothing “official” here. And like you said at twitter, “Not a single pro has said yay or nay this season-not a single one. That tells me they are trying to keep it quiet.” That is telling to me especially too.
Gawd, 5 more days until we finally find out.
Oh, and by ‘they’, I mean DWTSGossip and whoever told her who the pros were and ET and ET Canada.
February Sweeps are critically important and ratings will be through the roof on GMA that day.
Adding: And add Lizzie (even though she doesn’t mention names) to that list and dwtsgossip herself as well who keep teasing on it.
The producers might be showing Maks who’s boss by making him sweat it out. He is on record that he wants to be back so they could just be making him wait til the very last minute. Given his ego, that might send a message. I will go out on a limb and predict he will be on this season. I, for one, hope it’s him and not his bro.

Lacey took side of MAKS last season and now she got punished and paying the price for talking behind the producers and the judges.
I could bet Maks is in. I didn’t like his behavior…but he is good for ratings and has lots of fans.. And..although i never thought i will say that..i prefer Maks over Val…
I again don’t agree Vogue. Like with the “they” issue, a lot of Maks fans are ASSUMING that she’s talking about Maks and/or Val most of the time – when she might not be. AGAIN, if Maks and Val are her only clients, she will go broke. Maks fans see it as “teasing” because all they’re thinking about right now is MAKS. So everything is about him. Natural reaction, but not reality.
As for DWTSGossip, you’re assuming her source is a producer when it could easily be an agent or manager who is tight with all the pros. Therefore, they would have nothing to gain by teasing. In fact, the Val/Maks question makes me think even more that her source is not someone directly connected to the show OR if they are connected to the show, they haven’t signed the final stars WHICH MEANS…they aren’t fucking with us, they just don’t know.
Most of the time, conspiracies are just complex solutions for people who don’t like the simple answers, IMO.

Jordy…I agree and all goes back to Maks! He brings big ratings to the show whether or not some people agree, it is the truth. It’s Maks’s show…LOL!!!!

OMG everyone is short this season… Maybe its not Sam Champion or Robin maybe its George Stanopulous… LOL
Much as I think Maks could use a break for both good and bad, I bet he’ll be around this season.* That said, if he’s not, it won’t be detrimental as few of the average viewers know or are truly invested in his (or any pro’s) presence in a particular season. So long as there are a dozen or so dance pairs providing entertainment for a couple hours 10 consecutive Monday nights, they’ll likely watch.
LOL – who wants to break it to the Maks fans that spamming a spammable poll asking if you’d watch DWTS without him doesn’t actually COUNT as reality?? Wetpaint just knows their audience. LOL…I can’t wait to see the ratings fall by 75%. Or not. 🙂

OMG!!! LMAO!!! I read the tweets from his fans saying that if he’s not on it’s a) because of DD (DirtyDancing role)–are they serious? b) the show’s rating will tank without him. Again, are they serious? lol
Maybe that is why Maks’ hair is long and shaggy… He wants to look like Patrick Swayze from DD 😀
Btw, I do wonder if there is a chance some of the pros don’t know one way or the other because the producers have chosen to not tell them because of past leaks.
First off, let me confess I am a Maks fan. I have a soft spot for those “bad boys”. Nonetheless, I think he needs to sit out a season of DWTS – reboot, so to speak. And I would like to get to know Val a little better, out of the shadow of his big brother, in which he’s probably resided much of his life. I think both he and Peta got tough breaks last season in the partner department, so I’d be happy to see them have another shot at it. As much as I like Tony, he needs a break as well. A bit of a shake up in the pro cast is all good, IMO.
O yes Winter, I definitely think that’s exactly what’s going on. They found the hole in the dam LOL. By keeping the Pros in the dark, they have plugged that hole it seems. This pre-season sure has been a desert as far as rumors go. And I know Heidi is a crack detective in these matters.
Dirty Dancing? No. Traffic II? Maybe.
Isn’t this what Maks does EVERY season though? Act like he might not be or does a “I know something you don’t know” sort of act with us?
Lol, so Maksim might not be back this coming season. It’s okay, it’s not the first time. I just wish they would have brought back one of my three favorite dancers, Dmitry, Johnathan or Nick. Wishful thinking on my part.

Ummm…I don’t *think* so Sarah. I say it that way because I don’t remember him being like that. And honestly, Maks himself isn’t DOING anything. None of the pros are – they are silent. People keep saying that the show and the pros are playing some sort of game, when I don’t see any games being played at all. They’ve said they will announce all on tuesday. Everything else is internet chatter.
LOL Lizzie is cracking me up. I love how she teases….especially if and when she’s got a spade in her pocket. I will not be surprised if she keeps doing so and that she isn’t finished.

I’d just like everyone to remember that there are some declared Maks fans who AREN’T totally insane and delusional.
I’m sure the producers, Lizzie, and others related to the show are watching sites like this and loving the fact that it is causing a buzz of excitement. It helps build interest in the upcoming season. Let’s face it, if we knew who was going to on (and off) by now, we wouldn’t be coming here several times a day to find out the latest. 😉
Evaine, I’m with you. I love Maks, but don’t have any rose-colored glasses where he’s concerned. I voted on the wetpaint poll but my response was I’d miss him, but would still watch DWTS.
He’s not the only pro I look forward to seeing every season.
Btw, I think Maks is either in DWTS this season or he’d try to save “face” by declaring he decided to take the season off.

Johnny can be Russian. There’s no law. However, it would be a REAL shame if they cast some blond gorgeous hollywood starlet in the Baby role. Hopefully, Kenny won’t be that silly.

Just a question,really could he be Russian?…I thought Ortega said the movie was gonna be kept very close to the original (kinda like Footloose)with maybe a couple of additional pieces of music. I thought I read that somewhere when he was first being asked about the move.

The only thing I can say about a dirty dancing remake is this: it shouldn’t be done BUT if it must they have to thread carefully because the roles are iconic and people will compare wohever gets cast to jenifer and the late great patrick swayze. I can totally see the footloose actor from the remake (I rember hsi first name only: Kenny lol) as johnny castle with someone like vanessa hudgens as baby. I know al ot of people who want ashley tisdale in the movie but that would just seem off.
I think the regular Maks fans on here are great! It’s the ones that float down from the sky (snowfLAKEs!) and land here about week six of the season that are a little much!
How can the Mens Fitness cover be Lizzie’s big breaking news when Maks’s fans figured out months ago he’d done it based on tweets by the photographer and the location where it was shot?
