Julianne Hough Discusses A Return To The Dancing With The Stars All Star Season
Several of you have mentioned in the comments section how Julianne Hough talked about the upcoming All-Star season on Dancing With The Stars in a new Access Hollywood interview she did before attending the American Idol Finale. You can watch it above. Julianne mentions Helio Castroneves and Apolo Ohno and how much she owes them for starting her career. If either of them asked her to dance, it would be the “hardest decision of her life” to make. “We’ll see,” she says. They also discuss the idea of a “rotation in partners” which I’m not sure I’d like. What do you think? Anyway, bring Helio or Apolo back with Julianne. Can you imagine how cool that would be?!!
I don’t think rotating partners would ever work unless all the female partners are shorter than the shortest Male Pro cuz certain pros like Derek and Mark are the shortest current male pro and if the ask little Kim who’s under 5 feet it would just be awkward to see here dance with Maks who is around 6 feet tall. Same problem with the female pros Chelsie can not be put with a tall athlete like Rick Fox or someone Donalds height and then you have Peta who would tower over people like Roshon and Louis Vito. Just do different pairing for the whole season you can like give Peta one of Kym’s old Partner Kym can get one of Edyta’s old partners and ect. they can easily pair the celeb up with another pro similar to their height
I am sure if they do rotating, it would be planned out well.
Honestly, I know there are a LOT of people that don’t agree with me, but Helio was my favorite partner of Julianne’s, I would love if Helio and Julianne would come back and dance again… I also know that there are still tons of people who would throw absolute fits if she danced with anyone but Apollo…
Honestly, I don’t know how she could clear her schedule for 3 months, as much as I would love to see her in the ballroom again…
Jennifer grey also expressed that she would never return to competitive dancing, but would gladly dance with Derek Hough again. She would never dance with anyone else!
I think the whole idea of rotating partners really depends on the celeb. The idea will be dead in the water if celebs only agree to come back with their original partner. Which makes sense since they have an established trust and chemistry with their original pro.
I think some celebs only agree to do the show if they can get a certain pro. They have a lot of clout. If the producers REALLY want a certain celeb for the All Star Season…but that celeb refuses to come unless they are paired with a certain pro…then what?
Also if a previous winner wants to do the show…I would want my original pro…since they clearly knew what to do to get them the mirrorball. There would be ALOT of trust there. Why risk it with another pro if you’re going to put yourself through the competion again?
Adding to my last post…
not even just previous winners. If my pro got me deep into the competition. I would not want to start all over with someone new.
I wish the winners could make special dances, as apolo and kristi (on 100th show ?). I’d love to see them performing dances they didn’t such as AT.
I’m really guessing the couples aren’t the same. But we are seeing a lot of stars that just accept to return if paired with their former partner… well, I don’t know…
I just want a season with good dances and no theme weeks.
I say yes to Trio Dance, Team Dance and Instant Dance.
The ten dances plus Agentine Tango and Salsa and new rhythms, for example: as merengue and american smooth (as SCD).
We were thinking on our DwtSGroup on FB, and how about seasons cast clash? DwtS 5 vs DwtS 8 (the best IMO), Season 2 vs Season 3, Season 9 vs Season 4?
Or maybe celebs would love to come back and try again with another partner. I still think Florence Henderson would have gone much further if she had anyone but Corky. He was so hokey – the lady could dance and he had horrible routines for her.
I would love 2 see ehr back BUT i doubt i will ever see her compete on the show again.
Lori, I loved Helio and Julianne the best too. 🙂
I have a great idea to have former champs to perform why don’t they do it like they do the design a dance in season 10 but instead of former contestants you only get to choose from former champs and those 2 champs perform a routine choreographed by the first pro eliminated from the competition then that way we can see which 2 champs are the fan favourites while giving non winners a shot to compete for the mirror ball
Is there any doubt that tptb will throw in as many twists as possible to generate interest? I think they’ll mix up the couples somehow.
I think the best compromise could be switching partners only one or two weeks in the season. That way for the most part you get your regular partner so you have that trust and chemistry, but the audience still gets to see you dance with someone else so you have something new to compare.
Also, I’ve heard some things about Helio with Julianne that makes me think that she won’t go there. Apolo she might, but she is busy. I wonder how much ballroom she’s lost since she’s not ballroom dancing as much lately.
Honestly, I think Apolo would be the only one she’d consider coming back for. She’s never made any secret that he is her favorite partner. The fact that she revealed on one of her red carpet interviews last week at the Billboard Awards that Apolo has called her and asked her to come back and dance with him again makes me wonder if he won’t come back with anyone but her. They were such an incredible pairing I can’t picture him dancing with anyone else.
This is what Aubrey O’Day would look like if she were beautiful.
Depending on who returns will determine a lot. If two celebs that partnered the same pro in different seasons return, they can’t both have the same pro. New pros can’t be paired up with a previous contestant because they haven’t had one. Many variables and factors to consider. I can’t imagine that they’d give the celeb or pro a choice and it’ll be mixed up for all because if a few are teamed up with winning partners, it’s unfair to the others.
@Jordan – Don’t give ABC any ideas. Aubrey’s loudmouth is still resonating in my ears from Celebrity Apprentice. But in actuality, she would be their perfect contestant… Pair her with Maks…
I can’t see Julianne coming back to the show. And does that mean Jonathan or Damian could be back as well?
Aubrey and Julianne do not compare those two, lol. Doubt she will ever come back but it is nice she acknowledged and grateful for dwts. It is funny how Julianne was their break out star but they never show her when she is in the audience.
When Julianne was dancing with Derek last season it was pretty clear that she was VERY rusty.
Yup. She pretty much said she had not danced ballroom since she left in season 8.
Agree Heidi #19, just what I was thinking as well. When she and Derek perfomed last year, I was anticipating something amazing like their “Great Balls of Fire” jive, but, eek, no way did her dancing measure up. I was disappointed. I guess it goes to show that even a fabulous dancer has to keep her skills up. So, whether she will have the time or inclination to do that for an “All Star” appearance remains to be seen. Have to say that I really do miss her a lot on dwts; I know she’s gone on to “bigger and better things” but man, what a wonderful dancer she was on the show.
I’ve seen quite a few people expressing concern about the “fairness” of the upcoming all star season. Since when have TPTB ever given a damn about fairness? It’s all about ratings and money with them. I hope it finally sunk in that we fans don’t like being messed with and too much manipulation doesn’t fly.
I just think switching partners is unnecessary. The pairings had a great chemistry the first time around, so why mess with it the second time around? I think it would really cool if Julianne, but, i agree with Heidi in saying she’s a little rusty. And busy. There was an interview she did on the backstage with dancing with the stars 20/20 and she said she”hasn’t danced since she left DWTS in season 8.” So… i would love Julianne to come back- but i think its a weird long shot…
i just realized i kinda said what melissa said in comment #20
I disagree, respectfully. I think switching partners is completely necessary. I don’t think it would be fair to put someone like Audrina back with someone like Tony, who, while I love Tony, didn’t do her justice the first time around. Give someone like Derek a crack at her, who has proven his worth as a teacher and choreographer, and see what she can do then.
Give someone completely dynamic both dance and personality wise to Tony (like maybe Katherine or Sabrina) to see if he really lives up to it or if he crashes and burns.
I especially think it’s necessary if some celebs get their same pros and some get new pros. To me, that would be very blatantly unfair and biased.
