Vote for Your Favorites in the PureDWTS Season 14 End-of-Season Awards!!!

Ok kids, it’s time once again to vote of our biannual “end-of-season” awards…our sort of “wrap up” for season 14, where we see what you guys think were the highs and lows of this season 🙂 If you want to get a feel for how these awards work, you can check out previous seasons’ award recipients here.

First, the rules: I’ve picked what I deem to be the most likely candidates (with the strongest chance of winning) for each category – of course, some of you are going to disagree, and that’s fine.  If you don’t see your pick listed as an option, you can write-in your own nomination in the “other” box.  But here’s my biannual disclaimer about the dreaded “other” box: if I can’t read what you wrote because it’s badly misspelled/grammatically nonsensical/generally incoherent, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT.  If your response to the question does not make sense (i.e. you simply vote “Donald” for best dance), YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT.  If you simply repeat one of the already listed responses because you can’t be bothered to actually pay attention, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT.  If you’re just generally being a nudnik and giving harassing responses, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT.  *shakes head* I still can’t believe that I have to give this spiel twice a year…

…anywho, we’ll give you guys a week to get your votes in, and then we’ll reveal the results in a series of posts starting next week.  Now ready…set…VOTE!!! 😀

Dancing With The Stars Rounding Up The Best And The Brightest For New All-Star Season

US Weekly (not always the best source for information) is reporting producers of Dancing With The Stars is rounding up “only the best and the brightest” for the upcoming All-Star edition planned for the Fall. Names being thrown around at the link are listed below.

Dancing With the Stars producers are rounding up only the best and the brightest for their first-ever all-star edition.

On their list? Melissa Rycroft, Gilles Marini, Bristol Palin, Kyle Massey, Chelsea Kane, Lance Bass, Kelly Osbourne and Mario Lopez–all of whom vied for the Mirror Ball on the ABC hit.

“This past season was kind of dull,” an insider says of the series, which premiered to all-time-low ratings in March. “They realized they need to get people excited again.”

I’d be open to all of them, but, Bristol Palin. That is one scary thought I’d rather not even think about. 😕 I really doubt she’d say yes anyway. You can read the full article at US Weekly.

Heidi: Well, that list above doesn’t conflict totally with the Tom’s comments about “past champions, fan favorites and controversial characters” – but still. I dunno.  But where I really take issue is the complete and utter stupidity of the last quoted sentence which includes commentary about the ratings.  It’s so moronic that I shouldn’t be surprised – US magazine is pretty far down on the list of journalistic paragons. Well, it’s not on the list at all. And they are quoting some “insider” who should know that those “all time low” ratings still had DWTS in the TOP 5 on television….and in the top 15 in the key demo.  Excuse me, but how much better are you hoping to do than being the 3rd or 4th highest rated show on television???  Looking at week 9, DWTS was only getting beat by AI and NCIS in total viewers, and the performance show was number 15 in the key demo – for a series that is 14 seasons in and has NEVER performed in the demo, what the hell more do you expect?  THIS is why we get crazy shit on the show – they are buying into this narrative that the need to generate excitement. Perhaps they need to go BACK to their original formula and not try to over pimp and hype family members (read: Disney and Univision).

DWTS Tony Dovolani, Chmerkovskiy Brothers, Peta Murgatroyd Attend Dance With Me Studios Grand Opening In Stamford, Connecticut

Pictured above are Dancing With The Stars pros Toni Dovolani, Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy, and Season 14 champ Peta Murgatroyd. Last night they, family, and friends attended the Grand Opening of Dance With Me Studios in Stamford, Connecticut. You can view a fun article and more photos on the event at CT Post. Below is a little take….

“It’s amazing,” Murgatroyd said, looking around the burnished wood floors and dripping chandeliers of the expansive studio. “I have gotten no sleep, but it’s great to be here supporting Maks and Tony and Val. It’s going to be a booming success here.”

Perched on the fifth floor of 20 Summer St., the studio has been open to clients for just over a month, but Dovolani and the Chmerkovskiys used the occasion of the show’s season finale to invite new students, business owners, and the Stamford community to view the space. This is the fourth dance studio the three business partners have opened in the tri-state area since 2005.

“One of the things we take pride in is that we can teach anybody how to dance,” Dovolani, a Stamford native, said. “People always ask, `What’s the appropriate age?’ Now is the appropriate age. There’s no one who’s too young or too old.”

Since finishing their appearance on this season of “Dancing With the Stars,” the dancers will have a little more time to devote to their budding enterprise in the city.

“This is where I’m going to live until this studio is completely successful and everyone in Fairfield County is dancing,” Dovolani said.

Even when Dovolani and the Chmerkovskiys are not in attendance, the studio will still offer a high level of instruction, Val Chmerkovskiy said, with a widely recruited and well-vetted staff.

“What we’re trying to do is give people the experience that our stars get on `Dancing With the Stars,’ ” Chmerkovskiy said. “Yes, they will get our interaction, but they will also get the same education and end product. You will get that end product with us or without us.”

Karina Smirnoff Donates Dancing With The Stars Costumes To Charity, Read How You Can Help

“I’d love for someone to enjoy my things and make memories with them, too,” Smirnoff says. Though she admits her items aren’t for everyone. “Dancing with the Stars is not known for wearing a lot of clothing,” she jokes.

People Stylewatch has a cool piece up with Karina Smirnoff and how she’s giving away some of her personally designed costumes on Dancing With The Stars to help her charity AIM. If you are interesting in buying some of her items and helping Karina’s charity which helps bring the arts to children in underprivileged families, visit Hip Swap. This is cool. Check it out.
